Galbi. 4 stars. Insta/Beli: @amei_eats
Alex M.

(Overall: B) - After trying a good array of food from Goji Grill, I thought it was pretty decent overall and would revisit as it is one of the better options in Hoboken for Asian food, though not certaintly without flaws. (Galbi: B) - The korean short rib here is impressively tender and addicting to eat. I do think that the seasoning is on a bit on the sweeter side almost like a candy. (Pork Bulgogi: A) - This pork is very tender as well, and well seasoned; the spice is not extravagantly spicy so it adds a pleasant kick to balance the sweet and savory components. (Beef Tofu Stew: C) - Despite the unappealing look of this dish, it was quite well packaged for takeout without spillage. I do wish there was more substance for this to be a complete dish as it had a few pieces of chopped tofu in it with a good portion size of beef. (Sides: C) - The potato vermicelli is by far the best side as it is made similar to Japchae without the additional ingredients; the pickled radish is good as well. I liked the spice of the coleslaw, but felt like it was desperately calling for some salt and perhaps vinegar or sugar. The fried rice tasted like rice added with some soy and butter. -- Food: +1 Presentation: E Price: E Overall: +1 B Insta/Beli: @amei_eats

Unedible short Rib

I used to brag about this place. haven't had this in two Years. I was so excited and anticipated the flavor all Week! Here we gooooo! I come in and say Fried Rice, Double short rib meat, butter corn, caramelized onions, spicy slaw, brussels, with Cilantro Sauce. A total of $23 per bowl. I sit down to eat my meal and the short rib was hard as a rock, covered in blubber, and flavorless. I told the server and all he could say was so sorry. No exchange, no discount, nada!!!!! I then said..... awwwww dont be sorry. The reviews will hear about it. they just lost me. Sorry not sorry!

I stopped by here on my way to the Hoboken train station. The staff is nice friendly and answered all my questions and even let me sample a few items. I went with the soy garlic fried chicken strips. Freshly cooked chicken, flavorful soy garlic sauce and each bite was just awesome!!! Also got a one of their bowls. I got the Korean fried rice. For the Gogi, I went with the Beef Bulgogi-Ribeye. For the toppings, I got sweet potato noodles, garlic butter corn, spinach, and sautéed onions. The portions were very generous. I will definitely be back and try. The place had seating and was clean and well lit.

This was my first time trying Gigi Grill in Hoboken. My sister had tried it back in Irvine. There's so many options and I love that they also served bubble tea. You go up to the screen to order if paying with credit card or Apple Pay. If not you can go to the front and order. It was like a Korean Chipotle / Cava style order. I ordered the soondobu (tofu soup) with three sides. I ordered the purple grain rice with cucumber kimchi, carrots and more cucumbers. The soodobu stayed really throughout our stay until I finished, it was also spicy . The beef was so trendy it melted in my mouth. I would highly recommend this. The cucumber kimchi, I was it was thicker instead of thinly sliced. That's my only preference. My sister got the same but got the matcha brown sugar bubble tea, no boba just jelly. It was really good. Parking is rough in Hoboken but we were there for an event at the W so we made a stop here. Highly recommend.

The food is really good tho I've only tried the bowls. The workers were also very welcoming and friendly. I did find the prices a bit high tho.

Gave me beef when I ordered tofu :( Seemed like a nice to go place, but I definitely did not order beef

This place is a hidden gem. The food here is so good and so is the bubble tea. I ordered a bowl with bulgogi beef and fried rice. So good and flavorful. That green sauce is chefs kiss. Staff are super friendly here too and full of smiles. I recommend and will definitely come again.

Kimcheese Tots

ordered this through doordash! I ordered the kitchen sink combo which I shared with my fiance. lots of food packed in this big combo bowl and they are pretty fair with the portions for the price. we also ordered a set of 3 bulgogi tacos which were just the tortilla and bulgogi and no other toppings inside which I was surprised about. kimcheese tots were ok I think it was pretty standard korean food, but it tastes good! the cilantro lime sauce though was a hit, we used that sauce on everything!

Always a solid meal. Sweet potato vermicelli, bulgogi, buttered corn, cucumbers, spinach, and carrots in a creamy cilantro lime dressing:

It's been a long time since I've been to Gogi Grill and I thought to stop in for a grab and go dinner. The owner was my manager's wedding photographer and this was a dream of his. I know they opened a second location in the city. Happy to see this dream become a flourishing reality. The meal I ordered today was my favorite. It's a bit saltier than I remember, but I alternate from the vermicelli to the salad bowl depending on my hunger level. This will keep you satiated for a long work day. They now have two kiosks to order from when you walk in. I know a handful of the fast casual places in Hoboken have switched to this, but here they are also able to take your order as you are ready. This method helps save time at the register. I'm always happy with a restaurant that offers Ito En's classic green tea as well! After at least 5 years in business, this is now a classic to me and it has outlasted many restaurants in the area.

Several reviews liken Gogi Grill to a Korean Chipotle and I agree that's pretty spot on. My husband and I ordered takeout from their website on a Wednesday night, and were pleased with how fast the food was ready during the dinner rush. We both got bowls which come with a protein, starch, 4 toppings and a sauce - sweet potato vermicelli, tofu and the red pepper sauce for me, and purple rice with spicy chicken and the brown katsu sauce from my husband. The portion sizes were great and they were not stingy on the sauce! I'd definitely order from here again because there are some many different bowl combos to try and other things on the menu (Korean burrito, tacos, salads, stir-frys....)!

Good quality ingredients and portions! The food was fresh and very filling. I like the customization such that you can be as healthy or unhealthy as you want. The spicy chicken and galbi was a little sweet for my taste. And got too much sauce. The shrimp was rather bland. Vegetables were standard, freshly prepared. Good quick lunch overall.

Ordered through grubhub. I ordered the vegetarian bowl. I liked the option for customisation. The ingredients were fresh and bowl was filling. I love Korean food!

I would definitely recommend Gogi Grill for a quick meal! The food here is great! They have so many options. You can choose from a bowl, burrito, or taco. I decided to get the bowl with chicken, fried rice, cucumber, carrots, and corn. You can get up to 4 sides. Everything was tasty and they served a good amount of food. The staff is very nice and welcoming. The place was clean and they are taking Covid-19 precautions by spacing out the tables they have and wearing masks. I also enjoyed the music they played. Honestly felt like a DJ was controlling it!

Short Review- Outstanding Restaurant Week Menu. Get the Hoe Muchim, Yukhoe, Gangjeong, Galbi-Jjim,…read moreand if you want to be very full, the Pyongyang Cold Noodle. I went back to this Korean spot with a group for their $60 Summer Restaurant Week menu, which I'll abbreviate as RW from now on. I was not expecting the biggest portions as the menu is a bit pricey, but I was surprised in a good way. Compared to the regular menu, this is a fantastic deal, being both high quality and with large portions. You can see the previous review regarding the nice space, which is from a converted library. The only distinction this time was that they were much more crowded. The server was friendly, though he did rather haphazardly drop off all of the appetizers instead of giving them to the specific people who ordered them, leading to a bit of confusion. To drink, I shared a bottle of 24% Soju Dokdo, which another person had ordered at the bar prior to me arriving during happy hour. As per the other time before we got the other courses, they gave us some kimchi as well as a cold soup as an amuse bouche. The soup consisted of cucumber, tomato agar jelly, basil oil, and Korean pear. The soup is refreshing, cold, slightly herbal, and a little bit sweet, and worked perfectly to whet our appetite. The RW menu that followed consisted first of one choice each from three different options: vegetable, sea, and meat. Afterwards, there was a choice of main and a side dish, and then dessert. From the appetizers, my vegetable choice was the Lotus Root Gangjeong/연근강정, a pair of fried lotus root slices with a mild sweetness, presumably from rice syrup/물엿. The lotus root had a light fry, with a mild crunch, but it was the most basic of the dishes. Other people enjoyed the Asparagus Japchae/아스파라거스잡재 and the Acorn Jelly/도토리묵. I tried the latter, and it was refreshing and tasty with an interesting mix of textures. Compared to the other appetizers, this was also the only course without a supplement, which makes sense since it was vegetables. From the sea section, I ordered a dish I got last time, the Hoe Muchim/회무침, listed on the menu as seasonal fish, gochujang, and soybean powder, which all came with kim/seaweed for DIY handrolls. The dish is normally $24, and of course, the portion was slightly smaller, but it was still sizable. As this was the case with the other dishes, I won't mention that again. The fish in this case was raw salmon, which was buttery, and paired with the crunchy vegetables, the sweet/spicy/mildly fermented gochujang, and the nutty soybean powder. Another person enjoyed the Shrimp Pancakes/새우전, saying that there was plenty of shrimp inside, and no one ordered the $5 extra Abalone Salad/전복냉채. Finally, for meat, I went with the Yukhoe/육회, the Korean version of beef tartare with Korean pear and egg yolk, which is normally $28. The meat was tender with a mild fragrance from sesame oil and a bit of sweetness from the paired, well, pear. No one got the Spicy Fried Chicken/닭튀김, while someone else splurged and loved the $5 extra Beef Cheek Suyuk/소뽈살수육. For my main dish, as with a few others as per my recommendation, I went with the $10 extra Galbi-Jjim/갈비찜. Normally $52, this had soy-braised prime beef, Pyogo mushrooms, some potatoes, and some tteok. The short ribs were very tender, with some fat that was flavorful without being too chewy. The broth wasn't as sweet as some other places, with a delightful little bit of spiciness. This was outstanding, just like last time. Others enjoyed the Bossam/보쌈 and the Squid Stir Fry /오징어볶음, with no one getting the Tofu Mushroom Hot Pot/두부버섯전골. As a side, my choice was the Mushroom Sotbap/버섯솥밥, which is $10 extra, but shared between two people. Normally for $38, this had golden queen rice, mushrooms, foie gras, and a beef broth, and just like during normal service, they present the full pot before dividing it up. The rice had a strong umami with a bit of crunch from the scorched part, and was delicious like last time. Another person liked the Seasonal Vegetable Bibimbap/산채비빔밥, and one other had the portion of Pyongyang Cold Noodle/평양냉면, with the broth poured at the table. The portion was noticeably gigantic compared to every other dish, and the bit of broth I tried was delicious. For dessert, there were two choices. I got the Korean Melon/참외 with coconut and manchego cheese. The dish was well composed, with a granita/ice made from melon, some coconut sorbet on the bottom, and a very mild cheesy flavor. It was refreshing. A few had the Burdock/우엉 with burdock ice cream, chocolate mousse, and burdock chips. They found it mildly bitter with a bit of nuttiness, and one person liked it, and the other did not. I tried a bit, and I thought it was decent, but I preferred my dessert. This was again a very good meal. I wish I had better photos, but we all loved our time here.

The uni sotbap was delicious, packed with rich umami flavors in every bite. The bossam was solid, tender pork belly served with fresh lettuce wraps. The cold noodles were refreshing, and I especially enjoyed the light, flavorful chicken broth. The galbi was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. Overall, every dish was delicious, and I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in town.

Unfortunately by then they no longer offer the chef studio tasting menu for $135, only the yubu tart tasting menu for $75 per person. The chef assured me that they kept many of the most popular items on the smaller menu. Now I'm just going to straight out say this was one of the best meals I have had in my life. Not only was it delicious but incredibly unique. A true standout. Every course was also beautiful presented and just felt so elevated. Truly the art of a Michelin star chef. For four of us, we ordered: - Pear Enough mocktails (2/5) not a fan, weird after taste - Truffle Potato Pancake (4/5) not bad but not that flavorful - Octopus Tteokbokki (5/5) loved this - Hojok Galbi (4/5) also good but pretty expensive - Galbi Rice Bowl (4/5) not bad - Tiger Budae Jigae (4/5) not bad - Hotteok Ice Cream (5/5) so good

It was packed with flavor (AND SPICE!!!) and the octopus wasn't overcooked. I can't really handle spicy food, but this was good! The spice progresses as you eat, so I was only able to eat a little bit of it. I love the addition of the seaweed chips. The crunch adds the perfect texture contrast against the chewy. I also really appreciated the crunch of the cabbage. It could've easily been overcooked. The hojok galbi was perfectly tender and umami and the side salad was a nice touch. I do wish there was more galbi sauce, especially since I ordered a side of white rice to eat with it The banchan was simple, but delicious. I love sweet potato and kimchi

They advertised themselves as having the best katsu in NYC and they may just be right. With our order it came with a bunch of side dishes. Kimchi, Marconi salad, and mashed potatoes, and others. They were all good. Food came out pretty quick as well. Don't think we waited too long for anything. After we were done they gave us some ice cream. I would absolutely love to come back here again for lunch and probably will.

Jeong Yuk Jeom is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in K-Town! I stopped by for lunch and was…read morereally impressed by both the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. The Ssambap Set was incredibly satisfying. The beef was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the fresh lettuce wraps, rice, banchan, and soup. Every bite was well-balanced and packed with flavor. We also ordered the Mixed Katsu Set, which was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and cooked to perfection. It came with generous portions and made for a comforting, filling meal. The restaurant has a modern and welcoming atmosphere, the staff was friendly and attentive, and everything arrived fresh and beautifully presented. If you're looking for a delicious Korean lunch in NYC's Koreatown, Jeong Yuk Jeom is definitely worth a visit. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu!
