Was visiting from San Francisco and needed a quick lunch to go. We were down by Battery Park and this place came up on Yelp. When we walked inside, we knew right away it must be great because there was a line almost to the door. I got the Indiana Jones Gourmet Special (yum), which included sauteed eggplant, fresh mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and roasted peppers on sourdough. (It was so big, I saved half for the flight back to SFO.) The place was hopping as the guys behind the counter turned out orders at a record pace, but with courtesy and accuracy. If you're looking for a classic NY sandwich this is probably the place for you. I instead split the below items with a coworker while another colleague ordered a cold hero from them. Let's dive in: Flounder Special Platter -- aka fish and chips (4/5): The two pieces of flounder are thin and crispy. The fresh lemon really helped here and balanced out the crispness. The fries are cooked to perfection but without anything sprinkled on top -- let alone salt. They included lemon but no tartar sauce. No ketchup either. Both were definitely fried fresh because it took a while (a solid 10 people got their food ahead of me). Would recommend this item but ask for tarter and ketchup (assuming they have both?). Eggplant Parm Hero (3/5): Like the fish this also took a while. Must not be a popular item because one guy had to ask his colleague if they had eggplant today. Turns out they did. The hero roll is a standard NY hero size and what you'd expect (though actually a little soft and no outer texture or flavor). It's a hero roll. Moving on ... The eggplant was alright -- very lightly breaded and soft inside. Not nearly enough tomato sauce which made for an eggplant-and-cheese-dominated bite. I'll probably just order this kind of hero from an Italian place next time. Wouldn't recommend this sandwich. Price (3/5): Okay, so not the reason I'd normally give a place a 3 out of 5 for price. Is this place an affordable lunch spot for FiDi? 100%. What irritated me was the manager. I checked online and the eggplant parm hero was listed at $7.50 from Order Hero and $8.00 from delivery.com. They charge $9 in person which be it, isn't a huge increase, but was confusing nonetheless. I asked the cashier who in turn asked the manager. He told me that online sites take a percentage of the order which led me to ask why it was more in person. If online sites take a percentage, wouldn't they charge more online so it makes up for the lost percentage? The manager was clearly confused and I said fine I'll just order online next time. Pardon my spitefulness here but I'm happy to order online and have them charged a fee for sheer stupidity (or "convenience" as the delivery sites put it). Greek Salad (4/5): Got this from MealPal a few times now and it was pretty tasty. The salad had a ton of olive and roasted red pepper. I happen to love those two things so that's a win for me. Not a ton of actual lettuce but it wasn't the freshest so guess that works out. Dressing is your standard red wine vinaigrette which is nice and light. A place where some customization is needed, so look up the menu before you visit. Quantity: Large sandwich with a good deal of deli meat piled on. Value: $9.00 for the Godfather Gourmet Sandwich. Ambiance: All American Deli is located in the FiDi of Manhattan. A surprisingly large store, they have a massive deli counter in the back and a good sized seating area up front. It has a very old school vibe, one that may need a bit of modernization to increase traffic. Crowd: Surprised to find it empty during weekday lunch hour. I haven't bothered to write a review on yelp for quite a few years but I felt like I should for once. On a boring Tuesday morning, I felt the desire for pancakes and let's be honest, who doesn't want pancakes? I searched it up on seamless and chose this place because it was literally within a 1 minute walk from the office(but I still got delivery). I got the deluxe pancake for around $8 and it came with very mediocre(and maybe not even good) pancakes but it was topped by eggs(I ordered scrambled but they gave me an omelette, I didn't care but should mention), crispy pork bacon, sausage patty, ham, and buttered toast with loads of butter and syrup on the side. Most places makes you choose your meat but this place gives you all 3 by default. I'm not a big eater but it's pleasant to see a mountain of food for such a price. All of it was pretty good besides the main focus of the order, the pancakes. I hope they improve their pancakes. No complaints about the rest. The free Irish cream coffee that came with it was pretty good also, although I've been told I have bad taste in coffee by my connoisseur pal but he literally farms coffee beans in Guatemala and I'm only a commoner, I'm not on that level. The delivery also arrived in 15minutes, yes we were only separated by a single street but that's still good by my book. Stopped in on my way to work to get an omelette and home fries. The food was very good. After placing the order, I noticed there was a long queue at the register so figured I would wait in line and pay while they were preparing the food. When I got to the register and told the cashier what I ordered, she said you need to bring the prepared food because she doesn't know the price. I had to wait for the food and wait again in the long queue. This is not efficient and not something I want to do when trying to get to work in the morning. All American Deli serves up decent food. Their hot buffet bar is priced at $9.74 w/ tax for one main protein and a side. I've tried the meatloaf as well as the pastrami and both were pretty good. This really isn't a spot you'd want to go out of your way for...but a great lunch spot if you're in the area. It's a very very generic, plain deli. I usually get the salads, which you can 'make-your-own'. They recently put up actual prices for the items, but I think before they did that they would charge you whatever they felt like (obviously they changed because they got complaints). Their salads start at $3 for sm, and $4 for lrg and charge for additional toppings, comes with free water, in case you were curious. The service is HORRIBLE. Now, I know it's just a regular deli, so one can't expect too much from the service aspects of it. But they should at least give you the correct order right?? They have the rudest cashier people, and they rush you like none other. Several times the cashier is so busy that they pack the food and give it to the wrong person. I had returned the sandwich that was incorrectly given to me and told them they made a mistake, and the girl behind the counter rolled her eyes at me and said, well then go get another one. seriously? Especially since I always ask to make sure that i got the correct order before i pay (to which they always stare me down as if i'm questioning them or something... well this is WHY). eat here if you must, otherwise... there are plenty of better options a block or two away. read more

Usually the place is American packed at lunch, but they move fast and there's always a nice American energy buzzing in the place. It definitely helps break up the monotony of an American office! I American work down the street and come here pretty often, and I'd strongly American recommend the American Tuna Melt or the American Italian (the Italian American?). You also get a free little bag of American chips or American pretzels and a pickle with your American sandwich! Overall, a good place to hit for lunch if you're working in FiDi! This is where I go for my morning coffee because it's 20 steps away from my office, and the prices are the best on the block. They're cash only, but they also take Seamless & Eat24 orders which they've always gotten correct and ready on time. The staff are usually nice and very efficient. They once upgraded the size of my lunch order from a small to a large for no extra cost! I wouldn't have mind paying $8 bucks for whatever hat wrap was, had it actually been tasteful. Two bites was all I could eat. I threw it out and had to go buy lunch again! Best deli downtown, hands down - i m surprised it doesnt have more fans - i can tell you almost everyone who eats there is a regular (just not the yelp-savvy kind, i suppose). Sandwiches are massive and well made. Lately, i ve become big fan of their salad bar - its small but has everything you would need and is way cheaper than ziggolini's or any of the other salad places (although you wont find the exotic toppings that zig's offers, which is why i think they too have a place on the standard downtown lunch rotation). Where on earth are you going to get two eggs, potatoes (a LOT) toast AND coffee, DELIVERED in under 30 minutes for $4.75!!!!!!!!! Come on, are you kidding me? A latte at Starbucks costs more than this and food and delivery is not included. The food was hot, fresh, order complete, well packaged and fast.
