Waffle and chicken strips (subbed for choc chip pancake)
    Sonali P.

I have walked by this place countless times and decided to go in around dinner time. There was a lot of room and the kind waiter seated us right away. The place has old school diner vibes, and it really delivers on classic diner fare. We ordered the pancake deluxe which included a pancake stack, eggs, and bacon. I ordered the chicken and waffles but requested they sub out the waffle for chocolate chip pancakes. The pancakes were simply perfect. Nothing crazy or fancy, but the perfect classic pancake. In my (controversial) opinion, I prefer these over Bubbys! The chicken tenders were also juicy and delicious. Overall, I was shocked by how much I enjoyed the meal at such an unassuming spot. It's the most classic diner experience I've had in Manhattan. it's homey, nostalgic, and a good place to come with friends.

My go-to diner! This spot has been around forever and I hope it stays that way. Classic diner vibe and the prices aren't tooo steep. Service here is always fast & you're always seated quickly. They have a classic diner menu featuring breakfast, lunch & dinner options. Came here for breakfast and got the bacon w/ two eggs & home fries. Food always hits here and you really can't go wrong.

It's your basic no frills diner. Sometimes you want a simple breakfast and everything hit the spot at this little diner in FiDi. We were staying in the area and the hotel breakfast looked unappetizing to say the least, and my kid wanted real food. Squires is located in a residential building. The place was clean, the food was fresh. We got the deluxe breakfast, French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, doubled the bacon cuz we didn't want the ham. Also got the omelet with onion, jalapeño and tomatoes and cheese, it came with potatoes and toast. I wished the jalapeños were fresh not the jarred. The waiter was friendly and helpful, he kept coming around and topping off our coffees. No complaints. There were other families eating there as well. I remembered to take photos after we started eating so not the best pics.

My husband was craving a classic diner breakfast and found Squire's and I'm so happy he did. This is a classic, no frills diner that has everything you'd crave for breakfast in the morning. Service was quick and the staff is super kind. I got the deluxe breakfast with a waffle (asked for strawberry's on top), bacon and 2 scrambled eggs (I ordered mine well done since I'm pregnant so don't be alarmed by the extra crispy bacon and eggs). My husband got the corned beef hash breakfast which is why he even picked this place in the first place and he confirmed it's exactly what he was craving. Love this diner and the local feeling it has and can't wait to go back for another yummy breakfast.

Overall 3.8. Food and prices are pretty good given the neighborhood it is in. This diner is one of two diners one block away from John Street and a couple of blocks away from the seaport. Very local and barely any tourists. A good spot to grab a quick bite on a Saturday. The service is very New York. The servers won't take their time to explain to you, nor will they have the patience to tell you your options for how you want your eggs. We stopped by on a Saturday at around 2pm. It was crowded by local and neighbors, which is feels nice. By the time we ended our meal, it was getting empty. Overall a good space to get good diner food. I am glad they made it through Covid. Would come back again another time.

The seating in here was way too crowd for people to be comfortable. Practically on top of the neighboring customer. The server lacked in customer service and left before I could finish ordering. Came out to $33 for two small breakfasts. Coffee was not good. Food was mediocre and pancakes were dry. Located in a parking lot of an assisted living apartment. Came here because it seemed like a local's cozy breakfast spot. Should've stuck with the bagel shops.

It's clearly evident why the pancakes at the Gold Diner are famous, viral, and most talked about. My husband and I were obsessed with the lemon zest on the butter. I have never tasted a syrup like theirs before. It was fluffy and was giving a bit of mochi consistency (which I'm obsessed with mochi lol). Although the pancakes are the star of the show, the fried chicken is out of this world amazing too bursting with the greatest flavors. Enough about the food, service is straight up top notch! Would I normally pay nearly $30 for a burger? No. But I came here to hear the talented singers perform Broadway songs so I just chose an entree for the sake of it. The Sunset Swan Song mocktail was refreshing. They are quick with service which I appreciated. Fast forward to 2026 (where I'm finally not broke as hell), the day has finally come, and I am ecstatic about stepping foot into this diner that surprisingly is still standing in 2026. The inside certainly feels like a diner, but not quite the old-school dinginess that I'm used to--it's clean. Given that it was Sunday at noon, it was very crowded in there and mainly flooded with tourist groups, but a table opened up for us pretty quickly. For a NYC diner, the menu is certainly small - this is probably done to keep tables moving faster. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs and it was just overdone and super oily and dry--almost as if they just refried everything except the sunnyside egg. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed, given that I had waited for so long to come here, only to get food that was an attempt to give the staleness another chance by refrying and reheating. I actually beat myself up a little the rest of the day for finishing the whole thing, knowing that the oversaltiness was flirting with opening up some high blood pressure. It was also not moderately priced by any means (was close to $30), but I know I'm helping pay for that Midtown and proximity to Central Park pricing. Not sure if I'll return, which saddens me, but also knowing that they're part of a conglomerate at Fireman Group (and still run independently in a sense) makes total sense

With the hopes of avoiding any potential wait time, I decided to stop by on a bright, early Sunday morning at 8:30 AM. There was no line and I was seated immediately, but it was already packed (which indicates the food is top quality). Egg Cream: This chilled beverage has a beautiful appearance, especially the thick foam at the top. The ratio of seltzer, milk, and chocolate syrup were stirred perfectly. It was highly satisfying and a perfect alternative for a traditional breakfast drink. If you are not desiring the chocolate flavor, this specialty drink is also served in vanilla. BBC Omelette: This breakfast plate may have the same initials as the 24-hour news channel, but there is no relation whatsoever. This omelette was stuffed with broccoli, bacon, and cheddar cheese. These are not typically the toppings I order with an omelette, but I was feeling adventurous. It was a wise choice to explore this specialty plate because it surpasses my taste buds by a long shot. I never would have guessed broccoli and melted cheese taste well combined with an egg. A side of hash browns and toast is included. They were the backbone to the breakfast plate. In addition to a great meal, the service was impeccable. After I was seated, multiple servers checked up on me to make sure I wanted a drink. They always passed by and refilled my water glass. Even though the diner was crowded, the service was lightning fast and my drink and eggs arrived in a timely manner.
