I have walked by this place countless times and decided to go in around dinner time. There was a lot of room and the kind waiter seated us right away. The place has old school diner vibes, and it really delivers on classic diner fare. We ordered the pancake deluxe which included a pancake stack, eggs, and bacon. I ordered the chicken and waffles but requested they sub out the waffle for chocolate chip pancakes. The pancakes were simply perfect. Nothing crazy or fancy, but the perfect classic pancake. In my (controversial) opinion, I prefer these over Bubbys! The chicken tenders were also juicy and delicious. Overall, I was shocked by how much I enjoyed the meal at such an unassuming spot. It's your basic no frills diner. Sometimes you want a simple breakfast and everything hit the spot at this little diner in FiDi. We were staying in the area and the hotel breakfast looked unappetizing to say the least, and my kid wanted real food. Squires is located in a residential building. The place was clean, the food was fresh. We got the deluxe breakfast, French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, doubled the bacon cuz we didn't want the ham. Also got the omelet with onion, jalapeño and tomatoes and cheese, it came with potatoes and toast. I wished the jalapeños were fresh not the jarred. The waiter was friendly and helpful, he kept coming around and topping off our coffees. No complaints. There were other families eating there as well. My husband was craving a classic diner breakfast and found Squire's and I'm so happy he did. This is a classic, no frills diner that has everything you'd crave for breakfast in the morning. Service was quick and the staff is super kind. I got the deluxe breakfast with a waffle (asked for strawberry's on top), bacon and 2 scrambled eggs (I ordered mine well done since I'm pregnant so don't be alarmed by the extra crispy bacon and eggs). My husband got the corned beef hash breakfast which is why he even picked this place in the first place and he confirmed it's exactly what he was craving. Overall 3.8. Food and prices are pretty good given the neighborhood it is in. This diner is one of two diners one block away from John Street and a couple of blocks away from the seaport. Very local and barely any tourists. A good spot to grab a quick bite on a Saturday. The service is very New York. The servers won't take their time to explain to you, nor will they have the patience to tell you your options for how you want your eggs. We stopped by on a Saturday at around 2pm. It was crowded by local and neighbors, which is feels nice. By the time we ended our meal, it was getting empty. Overall a good space to get good diner food. I am glad they made it through Covid. The food is absolutely disgusting. I got spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce was watery barely any tomato and had a distinctly weird flavor. Definitely not fresh ingredients. The meatballs were a mushy mess. Had a strong raw onion flavor. It was more bread paste than meat and barely cooked. I had reasonably low expectations for this place, and unfortunately, the food didn't even meet them. We walked into a nearly-empty diner around 6pm on a Thursday and were told sit wherever we wanted. We grabbed a booth in the way back, and were brought waters immediately. The service was prompt and courteous and the menu was extensive. We had a burger and a chicken parm hero, both of which were pretty flavorless. The best thing about our meal was the onion rings, which def came from a frozen bag. Decent spot if you're just looking to fill your belly. But don't expect much. read more

As Globalists staying at the Hotel 50 Bowery, we were given a $20 credit per person each day that we could use for breakfast from this establishment. Had we not been given that, we'd never opt to eat here given its ratings, but for $40 in free daily food we thought we'd try to see if we could find anything decent. Spoiler: there's nothing redeeming about this place. We tried various items here, some pictured others not. This is not a place that knows how to cook. At all. If you ask for toast, you'll get L1 toasted bread which is essentially still just regular bread. If you order a sandwich you'll get flavorless nothingness. If you get a bagel, they'll still somehow find a way to ruin it by giving you a stale, burnt flavorless crouton that may or may not have been a 99 cent store find in its past life but is definitely now in its grave. If they want to improve, I highly recommend they look into local bakeries they can partner with to buy and use quality bread for the sandwiches and bagels and that they watch a YouTube on how to whip cream cheese with things like scallions or other things so there's some flavor and it's not just a chunk of cream cheese meant for baking. Small things like buying unbleached flour for their pancakes and waffles and using fresh fruit for their smoothies would go a long way to leaving a better impression. Until then, if you're Hyatt globalist, I highly recommend using the other breakfast restaurant available. If you're just someone in town looking for a place to eat, there are countless other establishments within walking distance that I would highly recommend over this place. read more

Solid diner in the South Street Seaport area and kind of rare in downtown Manhattan these days. If you're looking for affordable diner food in the Financial District, look a little closer because Squire's is tucked inside the Southbridge Towers apartment complex. If you're visiting New York Presbyterian Downtown hospital or attending Pace University, the Squire's Diner is within spitting distance. Pace students even get a discount. Check out the menu for lunch & dinner specials or if you're there for breakfast, they do eggs, omelettes and pancakes right. The Chicken Pot Pie is highly recommended and will satisfy your hearty appetite. It even includes a cup of soup or a salad as do most of the specials. A cup or bowl of the Chicken Noodle really hits the spot on a cold night. Every diner serves hot open sandwiches with either turkey, ham or roast beef. Everything tastes better smothered in gravy though. If you want a sandwich, the corned beef is pretty good and you can get it as a Reuben. The triple decker sandwiches are also a good choice. Of the several times we've eaten here, the only thing I didn't enjoy was the roast chicken, which tasted dry and freezer burned. read more

(I love diner's, literally one of the best things about the US imo). It gets 4 stars for service and for price point. Went in and was immediately greeted and invited to sit anywhere. Was brought water and the menu very quickly. Ordered the meatloaf dinner ($13) and it was perfectly servicable. Have I had better meatloaf? yes. Did this still taste ok and a decent portion size? also yes. Came with choice of soup or salad (i got the chicken noodle and it was fine). Choice of potato prep (got the mash) and vegetable (got the broccoli). I also got a lemonade which was personally too sweet for me.
