Don't trust this mechanic, African/Muslim will scam you. Charge me 600 for a alternator and belt and my car didn't even need it. On top of that the guy had the nerve to say that his credit card machine was broken. Never again will I go to a African shop.. don't say I didn't warn you guys, do not go to this shop for anything! Since this is my first visit to Samy's and it takes time to figure out if any problems with the car were fixed for the long term, I think 4 stars is fair. I found Samy's auto repair on a Saturday morning while I was searching for a place to inspect the vehicle. I couldn't find any yelp reviews on this place and I took a chance. The gentlemen took me in right way. I also asked them to check my wheels because my Jeep made a clicking sound when turning the wheel. In the end I had 2 back brakes replaced, the CV replaced and a completed inspection. We no longer hear the annoying clicking sound and I notice my brakes feel much better and I have my new inspection stickers!! All this was completed by 11am and that made me happy :). I just hope they remain consistent and offer the best prices. read more

This place has good reviews and I was very happy the first few times I went here. The problem is, the ownership and staff has changed recently and the new owners are inapt and dishonest. I took my car in for an inspection and was politely told it'll take 30min to 1hr. After two phone calls and two hours I was told that I needed new 4 rotors and break pads and can't pass the inspection without them. Knowing that I had recently replaced the pads and that I haven't heard nor felt any problems with the breaks I decided to get a second opinion. What do you know my breaks are totally fine and passed the inspection. Also, what made me suspicious is when I asked them what kind of pads they used the guy didn't seem to know some very basic stuff, wether they are ceramic or metal, what brand they are. And the estimate was just hand scribbles on a piece of printer paper. Stay away from this place. read more

I had my car serviced here today, and had a great experience. Being a female of the blonde variety, I am used to mechanics inflating my bill with unnecessary costs, but these guys were honest and just charged me $30 for an oil change because that was all that the car needed. Makumbo (sp?) is great - he even noticed the cracks in my windshield and recommended a glass place (which so far, is turning out to be equally friendly, honest, and affordable). No padded bill, and very friendly service. Plus they are open on weekends! I dropped the car off, and then walked over to a brunch spot on Washington. Super easy. I can't speak to their work with more complex repairs, but I am impressed and will keep going back. read more

This place is not legit. im not a mechanic, but i know a bit about cars. The guys at sammys seem really nice, and this is why I went back multiple times, but I became suspicious when they replaced my fuel filter on the first visit and 3 months later when i went back for a different issue, they insisted that i needed to change out the fuel filter again. Fuel filters are good for about 50,000miles. I had forgotten that I had it replaced on the first visit, so I agreed to have the guys replace the part at a cost of 75.00. Sammys charged me for the service, but never actually performed the work. The only reason I know this is because I took my car to a different mechanic and asked him to inspect the fuel filter and he said that it had not been replaced in a very long time- years. In total I spent about 600 at Sammys and I am not happy. Also Sammys doesnt explain any warrantys on any major repair that has been done and they dont have a computer system to record all of the work that you had performed. I found a different place around the corner on Atlantic that is family owned and their work is far more superior to sammys and their prices for repairs are equal or better. The best part was that the owner explained the warranty to me and assured me that everything he replaced is covered by a 1 year warranty. This is a big deal, because I dont want to spend all of my money on repairing a car. So for whatever its worth, go to Marios on Atlantic they are family owned, straight forward about prices and you will leave feeling like they did a good job.
