We received three quotes for our move and Alliance was certainly the lowest. They were timely, careful, thorough, and very polite. The office staff had stellar customer service; this alone will bring me back as a customer should I ever move again, and it will also be my reason for recommending Alliance to friends and family. I want to make specific mention of my new and very expensive piano, as moving this item was causing some anxiety in me. Aside from the piano making it safely across state lines with Alliance, it was also safely stored, along with our ENTIRE 3,500 sq. ft. move, for almost four months. WARNING. STAY AWAY. THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE SCAM. Here are the details of the nightmare experience I have had with this awful company. First of all, this company is just a front. They are only a broker and thus will take no responsibility for your move. They outsource the move to a third party and keep a cut. Second, they will grossly misquote the cost of your move making you think you are getting a fair deal, but then they will hold your items hostage in an effort to extort extra money from you. Be forewarned that they will "guarantee" a maximum price, but this is a lie. I agreed to a MAXIMUM price of $2,500 and discussed several variables that would be included in the contract. When the actual movers showed up, it was a completely different company with a totally different story and a new set of rules. The actual movers who would not take my belongings unless I paid an additional $700 because of the misquote and lies told by this company. Needless to say, I was already exacerbated by this AWFUL customer experience. Then it gets even worse. On the back end, I am being extorted for an additional $800 in absurd and completely fabricated fees. I have not been able to see my items, know where they are in the moving process and no proactive updates are ever provided. Furthermore, you can NEVER get a hold of them as they ignore all customers unless you are a new person that they are eager to scam. This just makes things worse and even more frustrating. So now this despicable company is essentially holding all of my personal belongings hostage until I agree to pay nearly double what was originally quoted to me as my "MAXIMUM" price and agreed to with Alliance in my original contract. Alliance is an awful company run by scam artists who don't care at all about customer service. Working with them has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I was very nervous about hiring movers so I turned to Yelp for help! Found Alliance Moving & Storage and read their reviews, since the reviews were good I contacted them for a quote. Got a response very quickly from Jaggy and he was great. We communicated via email and within a day we had a contract. Anytime I had a question or concern Jaggy addressed it immediately and never once made me feel like a was being a nuisance. A day or two before the scheduled move they called to confirm the date and time, I asked them if we could move the time by an hour and they accommodated with no problem. Day of the move, they showed up on time, they took a look around and got started right away. Let me tell you, these guys were machines!! They were professional, courteous, funny and never took a break!! I couldn't believe it!! They even helped me with random items I needed to take to the garbage. Move out took about a hour and 15 min. We had a two bedroom 1200 sq ft apt with a flight of stairs moving out and same size apt with 2 flights of stairs for move in. I was quoted 4 hours and at a price I felt was extremely fair and we had 20 minutes left to spare. I quoted 3 other companies and Alliance was the lowest. I can not recommend Alliance enough. My first experience with a cross-country move. Moved from Oregon to Virginia where I'm now stationed, and got a fair quote as well as a discount I qualified for due to amount of cubic feet. They worked with my husband and I financially and allowed us to delay payment as needed. However, only after everything was packed and loaded in truck, were we notified that our final price would be MORE THAN DOUBLE our quote. Called the employee's direct line who gave the initial quote, and didn't offer any assistance other than taking it up with customer service. Called customer service SEVERAL times, and instead of working something out, proceeded to be defensive, screamed at my husband, and hung up on us twice. They've since refused to talk with us now. The unprofessional treatment we've received is appalling. Would absolutely recommend doing your research and don't recommend this company whatsoever. read more

This was my first time using Alliace and will certainly not be my last. Responses were very quick. On the day of the move, the guys were on time and wasted no time starting. I was quoted 3 hours and they were done in two and a half and that included a 45 minute drive from place to place. They told me they would provide 3 men and a truck for 3 hours for $620. They told me it included loading, unloading, furniture disassembly/reassembly, blankets/pads, 4 wardrobe boxes (26 hangers each). They tacked on material charges ($153) and travel charges ($185). It took a lot longer than the estimate. Part of the reason was I was not completely finished packing and the other part was it was the end of the day and these guys were tired and not moving too quickly. The cost ended up being $1,135.50. Not what I expected at all. I moved down the street and they drove the truck up the alley, into the parking lot, loaded and backed down the alley and unloaded. Both places were up a half flight of stairs. The crew leader told me it would take them an additional hour, which I authorized. It ended up being 2 1/2 more hours. Then the crew leader told me I had to give them a tip and they wanted cash. I have moved a lot of times and always give a tip. I have never been told that I have to. And the guy was pretty intimidating about it. I have contacted them numerous times about the added charges but...crickets. I would NEVER hire them again. And they advertise they will move you"without any problems or hidden fees". Uh, no. read more

I was quoted $135 2 person 2 hours to pick up and deliver a single secretary desk. I received a contact for $125 2 people 2 hours also said that materials to wrap the item were free (eg the regular plastic and tarp). The guys showed up at the correct time. As they were starting to wrap the item they told me there was a mistake and it should have been $500 for 3 people for 3 hours plus charge me materials but they somehow gave me a discount and great deal. Because it was a deal they said, the movers don't make anything on that amount so the "company" suggests I go to an ATM and get $40-$50 per mover (so $120-$150) and meet them at the delivery site. They took all of 30-40 min to wrap, load and deliver the secretary and it was in perfect condition. I told them really if there is an issue with the terms the company should have contacted me, I had a contract and they shouldn't be asking for that large a tip for such a small job as it feels like extortion especially as they have your mom's antique secretary desk (who is in hospice l) in the back of the truck. If the company had mentioned the tip perhaps I would not felt something underhanded was at work but #1 it was for 2 men not 3, #2 it was a really quick easy job for 2 men and #3 the contract said materials were included and #4 it felt like they were trying to take advantage of me as a woman. I did offer a small tip after complaining about the terms on delivery but the driver refused (I guess he knew it was wrong). If this was an all day job moving furniture $40-50 is reasonable but this was just wrong. Will never use this company again and please watch out of bait and switch and ask about tip. They get one star for delivering the furniture without damage. read more

The process of moving is stressful and possibly more so for an older individual. The four-man crew headed by Omar was professional and courteous. They reassured my 81-year-old mom that everything would get done and it would go smoothly. When her move-in location was not as accommodating as we hoped (parking and elevator use was at issue) they alerted her right away that it would take longer than quoted. The guys were very nice and didn't balk or get annoyed when boxes and items carried upstairs needed to go back down into storage. Overall, super nice guys. We talked with 4 moving companies before selecting Alliance to move us, approximately 3 weeks ago. The first thing I appreciated is that they sent a representative to look at our house and meet with us prior to submitting an estimate. Therefore, we felt confident that there woudn't be excessive extra costs on moving day. When that date came, the crew arrived on time and worked together in perfect unison. It was amazing. Over two preliminary calls they confirmed 2 trucks and a crew of 6, which ended up as 1 truck with a crew of 5. I even sent them an exhaustive list of all of the furniture with measurements. The moving crew complained that they had to make two trips, and claimed they were doing us a favor because they never took a lunch break. They charged us the same price as what was quoted over the phone, and they never completed the job. They moved items I told them were staying behind, while they never moved items I told them were being moved. They moved a bunk bed but never reattached the base. It was a very bad experience. Do you believe in miracles? Well the team of movers from Alliance just worked one for me! Jeff the moving coordinator was incredibly responsive and very pleasant when I booked my move about 4 weeks out. My moving team of Benny, Raul and Jamie were absolutely wonderful! They arrived on time and got to work right away. They did an awesome job wrapping all of my furniture and were very efficient with transporting boxes. What really blew me away was how well they maneuvered my sectional sofa up and over two banisters and through the narrow doorway in my kitchen, it was truly a sight to behold! To top it all off the entire process only took 3.5 hours including the drive from Evanston to Oak Park which brought the move in under budget! I would recommend this company to anyone in a heartbeat, and will definitely use them the next time life blows me to a new location. read more

Alliance Moving and Storage (not to be confused with Alliance Movers Group) is a VERY BAD company for long distance moving. They ask you to give them a check (DONT) so they can keep your deposit once you discover they are a bad company. Always use a credit card so you can get your money back from scammers. They say anything you want to hear to get your deposit money. After that you are in for a terrible experience. NOTE, no matter what they say, you will have at least 8 BUSINESS days notice to give them your moving date. Even then, you will have a 3 day possible delay. They are rude and hang up on you. We spoke with Keven (Team Lead) who was rude and hung up. We spoke with his Customer Service Manager Ann Marie Miov who was too busy to speak with us. She said she was on her way out the door and dropped off the call. I honestly believe they were trying to get us to back out so they can keep the deposit. If you read the fine print VERY CAREFULLY, you will see it say if you try to dispute this with the bank to get your deposit back you forfeit your deposit and you have to pay the remainder and legal fees. My advice is to use Home Advisors by Angi's List. They do background checks and use only certified people who meet high standards. Don't trust this company with your belonging or expect them to care about your closing or moving dates. I was in tears when I was on the phone with them. They are a broker not a moving company. They hire out cheap movers and keep the remaining money. They told me the person (Chloe) we talked to to set up the agreement was fired. When we mentioned another name they said he was also fired. It's a scam. Please read this review and spare yourself the pain and money. Oddly enough I called the good company (Alliance Moving Group) to speak with a person in charge to find out the whole story and how Alliance moving and storage was ruining their reputation because of the similarity in name. Alliance was very solid. The actual movers were great. Small dudes, but strong and fast. They arrived just about on time. Responded well to directions. They even made an extra trip to another home to pick up a bedroom set. They were friendly and worked very hard. Very professional. Wrapped everything nicely. The final cost was more than double the estimate, but still within reason. They did accidentally rip my mattress, but it was wrapped and it is old and huge. Best movers I ever hired! We did a complicated move: from my parents' home in Milwaukee to assisted living in Chicago suburbs, to another house in the suburbs, next to two stops in Chicago. The movers were super professional and careful with our things. The foreman, Efrain, was really nice and courteous, as were the four guys in his crew. They moved things in and also hauled things to the curb we no longer wanted. Whatever we asked, they were happy to do. The price was so low, I couldn't believe it. We have moved numerous times, and this is the first time we had such honest, hard-working, careful guys who I felt comfortable with. It took over twelve hours, and they were nice and good-natured to the end. They even moved my mother's piano into a narrow hallway and around a bend, without a scratch! Scheduled an on-site estimate for my elderly mother's move. Estimator arrived, assessed the items that were to be moved and gave a crude, non-descript estimate. It did not include any items or breakdown of cu footage, only an estimate with an approximate charge and a total cu footage, both of which ended up being TWICE the $$ and cu footage of three other moving companies that did onsite estimates. When I spoke to the sales rep and voiced my concerns about the lack of a detailed estimate to warrant the charges, he was vague as to why it was so much. I, of course decided NOT to use them, a week later the same rep called me and told me they had a change and could move my stuff for a lot less. Besides being prompt, they were extremely nice and professional and even helped put our bed together when they finished moving in everything from our UHaul! Second time using Alliance to move. First time was for my place, this second time was for my girlfriend. Calling, scheduling, booking, quoted over the phone in a quick 20-30 minute conversation. I had a lot of questions and they answered them all in a professional manner. Moving day comes and they arrived a little ahead of schedule, no big deal for me. I just had to clear some stuff out the way before they can start. Didn't take them long to pack a 1 bedroom apartment, neatly and carefully exited the unit without any damage. We had a great experience with Alliance. From the day that they came to give us an estimate until the day when we were finally moved and unloaded, we were extremely happy. The estimate that we got was really reasonable compared to the two other moving companies who quoted us. Moving from Illinois to Wisconsin we were worried that the price was going to be outrageous and it wasn't. The three man crew arrived promptly at 6 a.m. in Palatine, and had us moved and unloaded in Kenosha, WI by 5:30 p.m. Incredible!! 20 years of stuff. They would have been done earlier, but had a delay caused by us. We had to go to the closing on the new house which took an hour and a half. The crew was very courteous and pleasant. They were extremely careful with all of our furniture. Nothing arrived damaged. These guys worked very hard to make sure this was a pleasant experience for us, and it was. I have used 3 movers for past moves but I can tell you, this will be the only company I use from this point on. Jeff, our moving specialist was informative, funny and always available to answer all my questions every time I called. The movers...wow!They worked their tails off, were extremely professional and courteous and not 1 item was damaged! They not only moved all the contents from the house but also unloaded our POD that we had delivered that day. When they were done, they asked us to look in each room to make sure the boxes and furniture were where they were supposed to be. When I asked them to move things around because I changed my mind on room placement, they immediately obliged and always with a smile and a NO PROBLEM!
