TLDR Version: If you have a computer problem, go to Allstates. It is worth the drive no matter where you live. The longer story: A four legged member of the family decided to bite partially through our computer's power cord. So it beeped when we tried to turn it on (the computer, not the pup). 2 hours on the phone with the manufacturer's support led to "Send it to us and, for $500, we will try to fix it." Emphasis on the word "try." Enter John at Allstates. He immediately diagnosed the problem for free: the power supply was working but not at 100% amperage. A week later, with a new power supply from eBay (the computer was too old for Allstates to have one), the computer turned on. But... within a week the hard drive stopped working. Enter John again. In one business day he replaced the drive, sprinkled some magic dust on the computer (e.g., tinkered with the settings), and the computer has never worked better. It is blazingly fast, and works perfectly. Morals of the story: 1) John is an absolute craftsman. He knows computers, he is honest, and fairly priced (his charge for the hard drive was the same as Best Buy's sale price and labor was exactly as advertised). 2) Create an image of your hard drive on a regular basis. We did that as soon as we got the computer to turn back on, and that was the best thing we could have done. 3) Don't let puppies near power cords. read more

I went in after having issues with both my custom gaming desktop and a laptop I have for college. John checked both and was super easy to work with and definitely knew his stuff! fixed my desktop with ease and helped me recognize the issue with my cooling and offered to fix it for a reasonable price within 1-2 days after I order the parts and brought the desktop back in. Instructed me on where I could get a great battery for an in expensive price off of Amazon. Then isntalled it, and let me know the camera was not working. My Mac book Pro display wasn't working; it would just show up as black but the Apple logo would be lit. I brought it over and John the technician was super helpful. He took in my laptop during the day and was able to give me back my laptop within the same day. He explained to me that there was a problem with some corrosion within the laptop and gave me other advice on how to keep it from happening and how to save my laptop's battery. As a student, I wanted something that wasn't insanely overly priced and this was very reasonable compared to what Apple gave me the estimate standard price was, which was about $400 and John fixed my laptop for $85 (including a $10 discount, which was very generous of him to do). Took a sluggish, 10-year old PC tower to John at Allstates for diagnosis. His software immediately located 293 bad sectors on the disk's surface. He offered to replace the hard drive with a new one for $175, but thought buying a new, faster tower somewhere would be a better choice. Consultation charge: zero. Another repair shop had wanted $69 just to look at the PC. Asked him if my old iphone SE's charging port had a problem since charging cables would only charge intermittently. He took an unfolded paperclip and removed some fluff interfering with the charging connection. No more problem with charging. Fee for instant fix: zero. Accidentally, download a virus on my Mac. In all my years of owning a PC/Mac, I have never done this. I didn't know what to do and I didn't want to stand in line at the local Apple Store. I originally tried to Google a local computer repair. I didn't see anything I liked. I then went to Yelp, Allstates popped up with great reviews. I called and spoke with John. He was very friendly and knew what I'd did wrong. He told me to bring my computer over. When I arrived, I notice how neat and clean the shop was. Most repair shops you go to are in disarray. Not Allstates! I told John that I was the one who'd called. We turned my computer on and he told me he could clean it up and quoted me less than I thought I'd have to pay. He told me he'd have the next day around 10am. I informed him that his Yelp add stated that I'd receive $10 off my first repair order. He told me yes, I'll honor that. The next day, I arrived around 10:30am and my computer was finished. John was very pleasant and gave me some tips on how to navigate through my MAC.
