My last trip to the dentist was a few years ago at another well known business here in Austin, TX. I say several years ago because it was the most dreadful experience I have ever had in a dentist office causing me to push off going back to a dentist for as long as I possibly could. They forced me to endure scaling with the cavitron without any local or topical anesthesia. It was the most painful procedure I have ever had to endure. I vowed that day never to allow a dentist to use the cavitron on me again. Flash forward to February 2012 to my first experience at Aloha Dental. In addition to a scaling procedure, I also required the filling of two cavities which I had lived with for many years because of my fear of impassionate dentists. The first words out of my mouth were that I refused to authorize the use of the cavitron, no matter what. I explained to Dr. Angie Burns my fear about scaling and told her about my past experience. She smiled gracefully and guaranteed me that my previous trauma would be nothing like the experience Aloha Dental would provide to me. It took a lot for me to agree, but I could not help but to place my faith and trust into Dr. Burns' hands. After all, I love my teeth and want to keep them healthy for as long as I possibly can; Dr. Burns convinced me that using the cavitron today will provide me with the dental longevity I desire. My scaling experience at Aloha Dental was quite contrary to my last experience with the cavitron. Believe it or not, I couldn't feel a thing! No pain, no discomfort, and not a worry in the world. Dr. Burns was right! She and her team took excellent care of me throughout my entire visit. I did opt for the use of nitrous oxide to calm my anxious nerves and I also allowed for the local block of anesthesia to ensure I felt no pain. Even while Dr. Burns was administering the anesthesia injection/shot; I still felt no pain. I'm convinced that Dr. Burn's gentle hands are the reason why I love going to the dentist again. I highly recommend Dr. Burns and the dental team at Aloha Dental. She is a competent dentist filled with compassion toward her patients. Everyone at Aloha Dental listened to my concerns and went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and a pleasurable experience. I will definitely be returning in 3 months to begin a normal dental cleaning regimen. read more

I went to Aloha Dental expecting professional care, but what I received was far from it. A filling they placed fell out after just 9 months, revealing cavities underneath--a clear indication the work wasn't properly done in the first place. Rather than addressing the issue with accountability, the office was quick to deflect blame onto me, citing "bruxism" and supposed lack of care on my part, despite the fact that I wear a night guard and maintain excellent dental hygiene. The dentist I saw afterward informed me that fillings should last around 2 years or more. Yet, Aloha Dental, Greg in particular, seemed more interested in using vague language like "typically" to dodge responsibility rather than standing behind their work. Since cavities were found underneath the failed filling, it's clear that the original work was not properly completed. To make matters worse, when I was checking out, I specifically requested to be charged the minimum amount and to be billed later for the remaining balance. The front desk staff agreed, but despite this, they charged my card the full amount without authorization. Stay far away from this place--Aloha Dental scams people and refuses to take accountability for their mistakes. If you value your time, money, and dental health, go elsewhere. read more

Great dental service, great location (off highway), and great staff. This guy named Maddie was extremely helpful by being very accomadating to my schedule and fitting me in at the exact time I wanted when it had previously been booked. I called on a monday looking for an appt. ASAP, I spoke to a girl who told me they didnt have anything available till Friday, so I said id check my schedule and call back, wasnt going to call back. I booked an appt at another dentist when i receive a call from Maddie asking if it was alright if he checked to see if their was anything he could do and then call me back, I accepted as a courtesy because I already had my other appt. Tuesday as im getting ready for my 10am appt, maddie calls me and says they can see me at 10 that very morning and since the other dentist who i booked through zocdoc never answered when i called them twice, I was more than ecstatic to take maddie up on his offer and drive five minutes to a great dental office. Regarding the service, its excellent, they didnt try to push anything on me, if anything, I found out that i in fact did not need fillings like my previous dentist had told me... Off my experience there, i would recommend Aloha Dental to anyone! read more

Unbelievable strong arm tactics this place has. I went in with my kids for my regular 6 month appointments. Paid my $50 co pay since I had dental insurance. Then I get contacted five months later saying I owed $400 more! I asked why and they told me that : 1. a regular six month checkup price is $400 PER PERSON (cleaning and x-ray) 2. My insurance company would not pay the bill. They said after giving us a DEAL they would only charge us an additional $400 for the three of us after I paid my copays already. I contacted my insurance company (very reputable company by the way) and they told me that Aloha Dental had never contacted them to file a claim. They said that they would have paid it immediately if they had sent it over. I called the office manager back and told her what my insurance company said. I asked if she had proof that the claim was denied. She did not. Do not do business with this company unless you want to get strong armed for more money after you get dental work done there. They are absolutely horrible! read more

I am absolutely disgusted by my experience at Aloha Dentistry in Austin. They told me I needed six cavities filled, which immediately felt excessive. I went to my trusted hometown dentist for a second opinion, and he confirmed my instincts--there was no need for any fillings. Just one small area to monitor. It is a shame that people who are supposed to care for our health are instead knowingly trying to create lifelong dental issues just to line their pockets. Dentistry should be about helping people live happier, healthier lives--not preying on patients to hit profit targets. These corporate, private-equity-owned dental chains don't care about you or your long-term health. You are just a number, a paycheck, a way for someone to pay off their luxury car. Please do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. Find a dentist who actually practices with integrity and cares about preserving your natural enamel, not destroying it for a quick payout. read more

I knew that it was going to be a "painful" first visit. It had been quite a while since I visited a dentist and my personal apprehension made it worse. When I first visited Aloha, Zoe was the first dentist chair contact I made. She was patient, answered my questions, and did my deep root cleaning. The results were so much better than I expected!! Virtually painless. My next encounter was with Dr. Blake Mulgrew. He reviewed all of my x rays, looked over my teeth and suggest a reasonable course of action to correct all of the issues I allowed to take place due to neglect. It has been a very positive experience so far. The staff is warm, friendly, and go out of their way to make you comfortable. This place rocks! I was scheduled to have two cavities done that I have put off for a year. They let me know beforehand that one of them might turn into a root canal because of the severity of it. Dr. Jumper was able to avoid the root canal, and avoid even doing a crown on the tooth for now, saving me at least $400. I shopped prices for the crown before having this procedure done, and they were significantly cheaper then anyone else. Sometimes, you get what you pay for, but in this instance, they are just a good bargain. Dr. Jumper has a great manner about him and did great work on my teeth, making sure that everything was comfortable and I was happy. I also had my teeth cleaned here a couple weeks ago and Colette was very gentle and friendly. I would recommend this place to a family member or friends. read more

Dr. Wang and his staff are totally awesome! The front desk staff and dental hygienists are all so personable, professional, yet down-to-Earth and truly make you feel comfortable from the minute you walk into the building. Dr. Wang is incredibly proficient, kind, talented, and understanding; you can tell he really knows his craft well. Also, I am not the best dental patient as I get a lot of anxiety in the chair and in general freak out over the noises of the electronic dental devices, etc. BUT, Dr. Wang is always patient with me. He knows this about me and is somehow able to work around it. I trust him wholeheartedly at this point so much of the anxiety has actually gone down in the last year or so since I've been working with him. I highly recommend Aloha Dental and you will see why when you go for yourself! read more

Aloha Dental is charming, which is unusual for a dentist. From the moment you walk in, the decor is soothing and elegant. The staff is friendly and warm, it feels like going to visit friends. The wait time is minimal and there are large flat screen TVs to watch and interesting magazines to look at if there is much wait. Once in the chair for the actual exam, it was even more relaxing. The chairs feature a massage setting and it felt very soothing. Dr. Jumper was extremely nice and gentle in his work, he explained things in a most understanding way and was so genuinely caring. I will certainly make Aloha Dental my regular dentist and have already brought my kids in and they too loved it! One appointment for all three kids, the convenience and care was the best we have ever had. read more

I absolutely LOVE Aloha Dental! I had horrible pain in my teeth and I called early in the morning before the office even opened and AnnMarie was there to answer the call and get me scheduled that morning to be seen. The doctor's assistant was so sweet and gentle and caring. My doctor, Dr. Adrian Bernal, was fantastic! Dr. Jumper was also great with my son! My son was so nervous to come into the dentist for dental work but when Dr. Jumper talked to him and explained what was going on he calmed right down. All of the office staff was great and just all around amazing and I will never go anywhere else. Why would I when I can get every dental procedure done in one office??? Me and my daughter are new to Austin, we moved here with my now husband in June. We are the type of family that has gone to the same dentist our whole lives. So it was really important that we found a good place to go. Yes the girl at the front desk was super sweet. Unfortunately my husband was suddenly diagnosed with cancer , and we had to miss an appt. .Aloha dental kindly sent a letter stating they could no longer see my children because we missed an appt. , an appt. that I rescheduled. I also felt like the dentist were teeth puling happy. My 10 year old had 2 loose teeth. instead of letting them fall out at home she just ripped them out before I could even say yes or no. I cannot say enough good things about Aloha Dental, Dr. Jumper, and his amazing staff! I have been to Aloha Dental a number of times and I can say, without reservation, that it is the best experience that I have ever had at any dentist or medical facility. Dr. Jumper and his staff are really sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful. The office is beautiful, spotless, and they play great music! So I had a dental emergency and they got me in within 2 hours of me calling. Not only that I was in the chair getting X rays at the time of my appointment, on a Friday no less when every other dentist in Austin is closed. I was treated and on my way in less than an hour. They are what its about. I like the service so well I switched my dental needs to Aloha. I am a HAAM patient and they do everything possible to get my dental needs taken care of. I can't say enough good things about these guys. if you need dental service this is the place. They ROCK!!!!! read more

I recently had to have some dental work done, which is definitely not awesome. Luckily a friend recommended Aloha Dental because they definitely are awesome. Getting in quick for an appointment was super easy. The waiting room, office, whole enchilada were very clean and professional. The hygienist Collette was suuuuuper nice and very gentle on my beautiful chompers. The dentist was top notch and did a very excellent job bringing my teeth back to perfection. No ill grill for me! Here is an update since I wrote this review. The company never called me, never responded to my BBB complaint (it permanently went on their record as an unresolved complaint), and never contacted me about the attorney general complaint. Any reputable and decent business would have contacted me about these complaints. Customer beware! Thinking about writing the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners next if they keep pushing me on this $400 bill that they never contacted my insurance company to get paid. read more

Being new to Austin, I quickly tried to find a new dentist close to where I live. Driving on my way home one day, I spotted Aloha Dental and decided to schedule an appointment. What a find! Dr. Mulgrew was extremely courteous and just joyful...which is hard to find nowadays! He recommended a great surgeon for my wisdom teeth removal and the follow up appointment was just as pleasant. I had the best experience here! I was pretty nervous about some fillings I needed, but the girls at Aloha made me feel at ease. My assistant was Erica, and she was fantastic. Great personality, made me laugh (which I needed to lighten the nerves), yet professional. I had a question about a tooth and she checked with the doctor before giving me an answer which I appreciated. I don't like when people tell me things they aren't sure of. Anyways, awesome office. I came into Aloha to have some fillings done and was quite pleased with my experience! Dr. Jumper made me feel really comfortable and talked me through each step. The office was brand new and I was impressed by how friendly and helpful the staff was! They even helped me set up a payment plan through CareCredit, interest free as long as you make on-time payments, which is great for me since I don't have insurance. I will be going back to Aloha for all my dental work from now on! read more
