...and the waiting room has fun stuff for bigger kids too...every time I've gone to visit, a teen or 'tween is playing this game!

I've been coming to Aloha Dental for many many years now! I've been through chemotherapy and chemo affects one's oral health in a strong way. Dr. Cynthia Rho has skillfully helped me navigate those waters and I highly recommend her! I almost forgot to mention Greg in the office, the office manager, he is FABULOUS! Always always so very happy to help me with whatever my issue is...change of schedule, payments, etc.

Sharp edge doctor left me to deal with after he perforated my root during a routine root canal

This is not the place to go for a root canal. I wish I would have known this last week. I was seeing a doctor here for the past 2 years and it was great for my 6 month check ups, cleaning, X-ray and even fixed a chipped filling that created a food trap. Don't go here for a root canal. Last week I went In for the first root canal I've ever needed because Dr Mulgrew told me I needed one on my back molar since it looked like it was infected. I've had a great dental history besides cavities and 2 crowns on back molars. Unfortunately during the procedure the root of my tooth was perforated. He sat me up in the middle of the procedure to let me know the tooth can't be saved and tried to blame it on a crack that was never apparent on any X-ray. I told the doctor I was not comfortable with him pulling my tooth at that time because I thought I had gone in for a routine root canal procedure and now I'm being told that my tooth needs to be pulled (shocking for any normal human) He closed it up with temporary filling material then referred me to on oral surgeon and also suggested he remove the tooth. dr Mulgrew left the sharpest razor sharp edge on my tooth which cut my tongue for the next 24 hours, I was numb and couldn't feel it until later that evening. I called the office to let them know that I was unhappy with the care I received and negligence of Doctor Mulgrew for leaving my tooth in the condition he did and that I needed to be seen ASAP to at least have the sharp edge filed down. They told me they couldn't get me in until Tuesday (6 days after my initial appointment) I am now in the predicament of going through tooth extraction and seeking an implant that will cost me thousands of dollars. This truly makes me sad. Thankfully I was able to see another dentist that explained everything that happened to my tooth and why I need to take the next steps. I hope aloha dental learns from this experience, I will never be back. This entire predicament could have been avoided if the doctor referred me to the SPECIALIST that does these procedures by the handful daily. So disappointing.

Sure, the endodontist had performed thousands of these procedures, but what if this was the one time something went wrong? What if they somehow snipped a nerve? They always say there's nothing to worry about, but isn't that exactly what people say right before disaster strikes and the train jumps off the tracks? Maybe it was just my pre-op jitters... The office staff made the check-in process easy from the start, sending my paperwork electronically so I could complete everything before my visit. When I arrived, Dr. Amin introduced himself and walked me through the procedure. For anyone fortunate enough to be unfamiliar with root canals, the treatment involves removing infected pulp from inside the tooth and filling the space with a rubber-like material to preserve the tooth. Then came the anesthetic injection with a metal syringe (didn't even know doctors were still were using these). Thankfully, they first applied a numbing gel before administering the shots. To be honest, it initially felt more like a swarm of mosquitoes staging a full-on attack on my mouth. Fortunately, within minutes everything was completely numb. The procedure itself was surprisingly smooth and uneventful. No unexpected complications, no nerves damaged, and no dramatic stories to tell. Afterward, however, half my face remained numb. When I tried to speak, the result sounded like someone attempting to communicate through a mouthful of marshmallows. Later in the evening, the numbness wore off and the discomfort arrived like an uninvited houseguest who somehow knew the "secret" location of your spare key. Fortunately, I was armed with pain medication, which provided almost immediate relief. The bottom line? I survived. The procedure was far less intimidating than I had imagined, and I'm looking forward to enjoying a pain-free mouth once everything has fully healed.

I waited a few weeks before doing my review to make sure that everything turned out right and I'm happy to say I had ZERO issues with my root canal. Would recommend.

If you have any level of dental anxiety, please read…read more I went to Dr. Duggan for a root canal after being referred to his practice. I drove from Fredericksburg--a four-hour round trip--leaving my 7-month-old and taking an entire day off. Because he came recommended, I trusted I would be in good hands. I was understandably nervous. I've had root canals before and experienced significant pain afterward, so I communicated that anxiety openly. From the moment Dr. Duggan entered the room, his demeanor was dismissive and arrogant, but I tried to brush it off. As he began administering the numbing injections, my anxiety increased. Before the third injection, I asked to pause for a moment to collect myself. I even tried to lighten the moment by mentioning that I had labored naturally and wasn't sure why I felt so anxious. At that point, he had spent no more than five minutes with me total. His response was shocking. He became visibly frustrated and said, "You're wasting my time. You need to let me do my job or get out of this chair. I know what I'm doing--you don't." I was stunned. No patient--especially one who is anxious and vulnerable--should ever be spoken to this way by a medical professional. I sat up in the chair, in tears. He then made an incredibly condescending and inappropriate comment, saying, "How did you ever labor naturally?" and walked out of the room. I went to the waiting room and broke down. When my husband confronted him, Dr. Duggan denied everything. We left immediately. This was not simply poor bedside manner. It was unprofessional, demeaning, and completely unacceptable--particularly toward a young mother who simply asked for a moment of compassion. For a procedure costing $2,700, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Choose a provider who respects patients, listens, and treats people with basic human decency.
