One of the best aspects of the Aloha Kitchen restaurants here in Las Vegas is that they are pretty consistent when it comes to taste and quality between the different locations. I swung by this UNLV location since the Charleston location wasn't open at the time. My go-to order of a Kalbi combo and a side of lumpia, hit the spot. I haven't been to this location in awhile, but I like it more than the Decatur location since they tend to give better pieces of Kalbi; bigger and more pieces. The teriyaki chicken had its usual signature crispy skin and the katsu chicken was fried perfectly. The lumpia I got was fried a bit too long. Definitely not enough to be inedible though. The mac salad was some what of a let down this time. It didn't have enough mayo and whatever other sauces they use, so it was somewhat "dry" and clumpy. We love getting the Aloha Fried Chicken--the crunch is perfect, and the chicken is so juicy and flavorful. It's always cooked just right, and we can't get enough of it. Always a great meal when I pick up food from Aloha Kitchen for my team members. My go-to would be the Saimin add spam, Kalbi Ribs, and Shanghai Lumpia. One of my visits, they did mess up on my order and forgot my lumpia, and they didn't include the char sui in my saimin when I specifically said I wanted both char sui and spam. Did a phone order and the gentleman that took my order had exceptional customer service. He was very patient and ordered everything correctly. He even let me do 3 different orders over the phone. How did I live in Vegas for almost 13 years and not know how good the food is here?! I've passed this place a thousand times and had no idea. My daughter wanted Hawaiian BBQ before we headed to the airport so we stopped here. She had the teriyaki chicken kids plate and we shared the chicken bbq plate. My friend brought me here while I was in town and it was pretty great! The service is prompt, the workers are all super cool and nice to you, and the food is SENSATIONAL. What more can you ask for? When I got here, I wasn't sure what to expect. The area was nice, but I'm guessing because it's by/at UNLV. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is open and modern. We ordered: Kalbi combo: Instead of chicken teriyaki, I substituted it with beef teriyaki. The kalbi was flavorful and so tender. Literally falls off of the bone. The chicken katsu was crispy, and the sauce looked different, but it had the same taste with a twist. Beef teriyaki didn't really care for it. You have the option to have kimchi or macaroni. I went with the classic macaroni. Hawaiian plate: Onolicious. I liked that they put the pork lau lau in a separate container. It was so flavorful and juicy. The kalua pig and cabbage was so tender and packed with flavor. They do not skimp on the portions. Loco moco - Not the typical hamburger patty with gravy. The patty was moist and had a different flavor to it. It's different but so tasty. Fried shrimp - I ordered this because I thought it was the typical breaded fried shrimp that I'm used to. Being from Hawaii I'm kinda a snob when it comes to local food. The chicken Katsu was crunchy and fried nicely the kalua pig was not what I'm used to and the macaroni salad was somewhat bland. All the prices on Yelp are wrong. It's nearly DOUBLE for some items, like Kimchee. The local plate is listed on Yelp as $12.64 but when you get there it's actually $16.59 ... a side of Kimchee is actually $4.79 Overpriced and food kind of sucks. The rice is dry and old. 02/2024 Located near UNLV. Cousin from Florida wanted some local Hawaii foods. Restaurant is pretty big and clean. Cousin ordered the combo katsu and teriyaki beef. He loved it and devoured it. Husband got the special of crispy pork belly ...it took a little longer to cook but it was so worth it. It was crispy and delicious. That is a must order if you love fried pork belly. Our favorite is the adobo fried rice. (Could have used a little more sauce to keep the rice moist and a few more chunks of pork but it was yummy nonetheless!) Food was sooo ono we had to come back again the next day! My favorite items were the adobo fried rice omelette (could easily be shared between 4 people), saimin, and manapua. We also had the spam musubi, fried chicken, lumpia, and French fries. The people working here were so friendly on both of our visit. Really made us feel like home. When you get here, just order your food at the cashier, then if you're dining in, they give you a number and will bring your order out to you. Then when you're done, you just leave your dishes at the table. This restaurant is nicely decorated with island music jammin! I think being caught in the pandemic, they have raised their prices a bit but I still love them. If you want teriyaki chicken that tastes exactly like Aloha Specialties without the wait, come here. Their sauce tastes exactly the same, even the chicken with a bit of skin tastes the same. And of course, they also have the aloha plate which we got that consists of 2 spam musubis along with some beef/chicken teriyaki. Portion wise with the proteins, I do wish it could be better. For me, it was about 4 bites and that was it. You can opt for an extra scoop of rice or some kimchi or their mac salad. I can't say I recommend their mac salad, but their rice is delish. If you come when they open at 10am like I do, you need to eat your musubi right away because the rice is pipping hot. If not, you'll get a soggy mess. Another result of the pandemic is if you ask for extra teriyaki sauce, it will cost you $1.40. Seems a little crazy, but extra soy sauce is free. Of course their adobo fried rice is bombtastic, but the amount of meat is very little nowadays. Their loco moco tastes like it contains breadcrumbs and some vegetables. It's not bad, but it's definitely not meaty. This place is now bigger for dine in. You'll notice the adjacent wall is open and good to dine for larger parties. My partner and I stopped by Aloha Kitchen after a event at UNLV on a Thursday evening around 8:30 P.M. It was pretty late, but Aloha Kitchen was still open. It's located at 4745 S Maryland Pkwy, next to the UNLV and a few minutes from the airport. There are other local businesses next to it such as a Poke restaurant. There is decent amount of parking space available as well. Inside the restaurant, the décor is modernized with spacious amount of booth and table seating. The menu is listed on their board as soon as you enter. You'll need to place your order at the register and then you're provided a number for your order. Aloha Kitchen has a wide selection of food. Some of their items listed includes Loco Moco, Adobo Fried Rice, Chicken Katsu, Pork Lau-Lau, and much more! It was tough for me to make a decision at Aloha Kitchen, with some of my favorites being the Loco Moco and Kalua Pig. Ultimately, I decided on the Kalua Pig with Rice and Cabbage. We also ordered the following Lumpia Shanghai (10) $6.99 - Mini eggrolls filled with ground pork, chopped onions and chopped carrots, served with sweet chili sauces. Local Plate $12.79 Plate of teriyaki chicken, beef and 2 spam musubi The wait time wasn't too long considering it was late, approximately 20 minutes. They didn't have fountain drinks available at the time we ordered so we ended up purchasing a bottle of water and a soda. The Kalua Pig with Rice and Cabbage was okay. It was extremely watery and a lot of the Kalua Pig consisted of a high volume of fat on the meat. I don't think I would order this dish again at Aloha Kitchen. I'd try the Loco Moco. The Local Plate was okay, but the meats were under-seasoned and dry. The Beef and Chicken leveraged the teriyaki sauce for the dish. The Lumpia Shanghai was very good though. It was perfectly fried and the filling used inside it was delicious. Next time, if I stop by here again, I'll try either their Adobo Fried Rice or the Loco Moco. read more

Was hung up on after first call, called again and they asked me to hold. Held for 20 minutes and got to the restaurant while I was still on hold. Got to the place and place was slammed of course with 1 person at the register but literally watched the lady take like 5 orders while I was still on hold the whole time. Regardless, I believe it would've been fair to atleast take my order in the order my call came in. It's not hard to politely ask the person in line to wait a second to take my order over the phone since I called before they got in line. The people taking our order were pretty friendly, even the guy who delivered our food was very kind. I've been to this restaurant quite a few times but I think today was not their best day. I wasn't a fan of my bento. The beef was tough to eat, the chicken was breaded and covered in too much sauce which made the breading soggy. I did like my spam. I wish they didn't put teri sauce all over the meats. The lumpia was good. My friend liked her katsu curry, so that's good. The place to dine in was clean and had lots of seating space. We had a couple recommendations to try this place for their breakfast/brunch so we stopped by on our trip to Vegas. We got: -banana pancakes: don't recommend. Patrons place their order at the counter, the cashier gives you an order number to display on the table, and then patrons take a seat anywhere they like. Today, we ordered the adobo fried rice omelette, chili bowl, beef stew, fried chicken, manapua (not pictured). The adobo fried rice omelette is a family favorite. It is huge. I think we once shared one between 5 people and were able to finish it. Since there were just 2 of is and we ordered other food, we ended up taking half back to the hotel with us. The fried rice has generous amount of shredded pork in it, and it's all wrapped in a fluffy egg that really compliments the rice. The chili is subtly sweet, and I ended up finishing it with all of the rice. You can tell that chili has been slow-cooked for a long time because the beans practically melted, no chewing needed. I also like that there's not a lot of beans in the chili. My husband had the beef stew. It's a tomato -based sauce, and the chunks of beef were fork-tender. The fried chicken takes 25 minutes to cook, and it was well-worth the wait. The meat was juicy, and the batter was crispy, delicious. It is salty with a hint of garlic.It pairs really well with the rice. Of course we will be coming back!
