Pros: Great food, incredibly friendly service Cons: Not a huge place, not really a con Details: I grew up in the Midwest so Hawaiian style food was hard to come by. But my wife was born there so I trust her judgment and she loves Bowlz. I also love it. They have a surprisingly big menu with lots of options from poke to valuation to breakfast to sweet stuff. I personally lean toward the poke, which they make fresh to order. Just delicious all around. Like I said it's not a huge place BUT they do cater trays and to go so you could have a big party and still get their food for it. Firstly, I have much respect for the owner who I met during my first visit at Bowlz LV SoHi location. He's professional and it shows through the conduct of his employees who are respectful as well. The restaurant is very neat and clean. There are a good amount of both tables and booths to dine in. On my first visit, I dined in and got fried saimin and mochiko chicken. The fried saimin portion was modest and the noodles were perfectly cooked to a nice texture. The taste was slightly over-seasoned with oyster sauce but nothing too overwhelming to my taste. The mochiko chicken serving as a bit more than modest. The type of cuts were smaller bite sized pieces with no need for a knife. Some pieces were moist and some were a bit on the drier side. The taste was an excellent balance of sweet and salty. The first time was very good so a couple weeks later, we went back for another visit. All I got was the fried rice...it looked great and the portion was just a bit more than modest. The taste....I promise here that I am not exaggerating....it tasted like 2-3 tablespoons of oyster sauce to 2 cups of rice. This is definitely overwhelming for the sake of any recipe. A little goes a long way. The owner was not there this time. I genuinely think they made a mistake on the fried rice. Every bite was more discouraging after the next. Again, I think the kids in the kitchen miscalculated the oyster sauce for soy sauce and I am not trying to be rude. Rather than leaving the plate there, I asked for a box and took it home. At home, I mixed a 1 to 1 ratio of plain white rice into the leftovers and STILL, the oyster sauce was overwhelming. I got frustrated and threw it all away. I have never been back since but I am still curious and will order another fried rice because other than the oyster sauce issue, the texture was perfect. I believe there is no way that was the normal taste and if it is, you can't serve that to people. It was crazy. All that being said, the second visit was not a dealbreaker. My husband and I were craving local Hawaii food and decided to do take out. We ordered a Lechon Kawali with garlic chicken and macaroni salad and a chicken katsu with garlic chicken and upgraded to fried saimen noodles with macaroni salad. The Lechon Kawali was nice and crispy and so was the chicken katsu. The garlic chicken was missing the garlic in it. It almost tasted like a mochiko chicken. I do wish there was more garlic to it. It was also soggy and too marinated. We were surprised by the total. For the Lechon Kawali and garlic chicken combo it came out to be $26 and the chicken katsu with garlic chicken and fried noodles was $30. I do wish the plates were more filled. I was surprised that the noodles didn't cover the whole bottom of the plate and the proteins weren't as stacked. Portions were overall little for the price. The service was quick and friendly and the inside was clean. I'm not sure if I will be back again, but I am glad that I tried this place out. read more

Let's start with the hospitality.. 10/10! The owner is so nice. He helped get us settled at a table with my toddler & made it feel like we were back home in Hawaii. Not gonna lie, some of the reviews on here worried me a little but we had Bowlz a while ago when they were still in the food court and loved it then. They're a lot closer to our home now & we're so glad! We ordered a lechon kawali, laulau, garlic chicken, and meatjun. The lechon kawali was nice and crispy. The sauce for it wasn't traditional, but it complimented the lechon well with the onions and tomatoes. The laulau was good too! My almost-2 year old loved it. Another local style 808 all comfort food opened in Vegas. I can never complain about in life. Time back in the days few and far between. Now so many hard to keep up with in and out. Bowlz heard about from foodie friend also from 808. She telling me actually at another spot before moved to this new one. So we all meet up checkout. It little hard to find at night. I actually drove by it going around the shopping mall that located in. They have banner sign out front but with black background and night could miss. Once u find it going love it! The menu has such nice diversity. They have whole breakfast menu separate from regular menu. It has all norms Portuguese sausage eggs and rice. Lot more. I meet up friends for dinner so the regular menu. They have so much classics hard to pick one first visit. I settled on meat Jun. awesome. Everything was on point. Friends ordered Saimin, fried rice, and garlic chicken. All looked like da bomb. They enjoyed there food. Spam Musubi side action. Interesting. Four different ones that different twist. I got two of them. Poke action looks solid. So definitely need to go back. Just wish closer to my side of town. Service five stars!! Ahhhh, Spicy Salmon and Spicy Ahi BOMBSSSS!!!! Highly recommend checking them out. Great options on their menu close to Home. Meat Jun, Lau Lau, Poke and more! If you are craving, this is definitely my go to. They are all so sweet and everyone is so nice! They don't take long to make your order and there is a lot of seating inside for dine in. The two beef patties were cooked perfectly. The gravy was hearty, the way it should be. The eggs (i always get overeasy) were actually cooked correctly. The portions were huge and definitely worth the price. The katsu chicken/bbq chicken combo with noodles: the chicken katsu was cooked perfectly. A lot of places tend to give you overcooked chicken that barely contains any chicken. Bowlz chicken katsu has the perfect ratio of chicken to panko crumbs so neither is overwhelmed by the other. The bbq chicken was also flavorful. It's obvious they use top-quality meat for their dishes. The noodles were also delicious. Perfectly cooked and paired well with the bbq chicken especially. The sides were got were also good. We got the mac salad and kimchi. The service was also great. The people at the register were friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was okay. I'm so sad that this review is coming out the way it is. Everyone can have a bad day and I hope this is that day. I've been excited to try this place since I saw online that they're reopening. It's not close to me, but I was somewhat near the area and decided to try today. Ooops. Staff are very helpful and friendly, but today's food was not what I was expecting given what you see on their IG or from other pics on here. First, one of my orders was incorrectly put together. I did call to let them know of the error and after suggesting that driving back today was not an option, they did offer a refund of that dish. Thank you for that. Now for the food I did get, as you can see from the pic of my mochiko chicken, my regular plate looks sparse compared to other pics of the same dish on here where the food was overflowing. One of my pieces was actually just chicken skin. Other pics show these huge pieces of chicken, I didn't get any of them. The flavor on the chicken was nice and the chicken was juicy, I just wish there was what I think most of us would consider an acceptable sized serving for the $16 price. The poke was good on the paina plate, but I should've just gone with poke bowl. I'm not a fan of lomi salmon, so it is what it is. The mac salad is mayo forward, but missing some flavor. I am a fan of Kalua Pig, but that didn't make it, so I can't report back. The musubi was disappointing in the sense that the spam didn't make it all the way through the entire piece. Rice was a little hard and while the spam was flavored nicely, it just didn't hit it. I'm willing to give second chances, but I'm not going to go out of my way to do it. I'll keep an eye on here for the experience of others to see if it's a trend or a one off. And to figure out what I should have gotten! Sorry this isn't what I was hoping for. read more

I saw videos of this place on TikTok! I drove so many times not seeing it was even there. I finally had the chance to visit and it did not disappoint. It wanted to try something new and they had Inari which I highly recommend! Im mad I lived so long never knowing of inari until tonight. We also ordered the garlic chicken and roast pork with gravy. Situated next to Baskin Robbins and the Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Southern Highlands in the Southern Highlands Marketplace Plaza, many may recognize the location as were Dragon Tiger Noodle once was. The interior had only a few changes from the old business, and their signage outside was just a Vinyl banner. We were headed to Baskin Robbins when we spotted it. The service was great - we only ordered to go, but we were quickly greeted when we walked in, offered a seat as we waited, and the server at the counter did a great job remembering our names and wished us a warm farewell when we left with our food. The food was good - The Lechon Kawali was a bit dry but had good flavor with the provided sauces, the rice was a little mushy. The Kalua pig was fairly salty too, but their menu had so many options that I want to try their other offerings. I decided to try this place, and because I was in the area my hopes were very high when I was chatting with the guy. I told him I usually do a pokey express, but I've always wanted to try this place. I really don't like a place that insults another business when I told him that I usually go there he immediately bashed poking express and was like oh no they're not. They're not good. We know them they use frozen fish, blah, blah blah blah. Since I had already ordered, I didn't really say anything. I got my my bowl and drove all the way home and I must say it was absolutely disgusting. The pokey had no flavor. Some of it was hard. My husband placed our order and talking story with the workers and apparently the owner's family owns side street inn in Hawaii. I was so excited to taste the food! Plus I was really hungry at this point. We got the loco moco, meat Jun/ fried chicken combo, and fresh poke and side of mac salad. Everything tasted authentic, loved the gravy on the loco moco, so good with the mac! I also loved the Hawaiian style poke. Definitely hit the spot for me! Another Hawaii food joint to choose from when selecting my "Where to eat" choices. I love the location as it's on my way to or from wherever route I am taking that day, which seems to be daily. The crew behind the scenes are amazing! They time my order perfect whenever I call in for the food to be picked up. Their garlic chicken is unique and ono in a good way. It's as if it's kim chee- fused. Which makes it unique. I 100% approve. Their chicken katsu and burgers are solid. We always order their slush float, which also brings nostalgia from the days of Andy's and Byron Drive Inn. Oh. And they also have andagi (japanese donut). Another staple of comfort food from the islands. Ive prioritized this establishment to where I have to go here every week for something. Finally an actual Hawaiian spot that's not a food chain! The interior is kind of the same colors from dragon noodles, not much was changed. They have a variety of Hawaiian foods, and we've tried a couple things off the menu. Garlic chicken was good, but not quite the garlic chicken I was looking for. I also tried the saimin, furikake ahi, the miso salmon, and fried noodles. All were pretty good, better than the Hawaiian food chains for sure. The spicy inari bombs are hella good, it hits the poke craving every time I get it. The spicy ahi poke is a little different for me, I think I'm still impartial with poke express. The amount of food was pretty decent for the pricing. Service is the pay at the counter and sit down to wait for food kind of service. This seems like a family owned type place. I asked for kimchi but the lady at the counter didn't know they had it (on the neon sign). After some speaking with others; auntie didn't work that day and they were out of it. lol The salmon was really fresh, tasty, and high quality. I ordered a pound, some side items, and fries. We also got another salmon dish but it was way too salty so we mixed my unseasoned salmon (as intended) and all was fine. It's an order at counter then collect your food when called place. Pickup drinks, silverware, and find a table if possible on your own. A lot of Hawaiians here so that was a good sign. Place was quite busy and a lot of families. Good vibe here with many choosing to eat instead of only take out. May need a translation on neon sign items for us non-Hawaiians also. Heard mixed reviews about this place from family and friends so I gave it a couple months before I tried it! I'm glad I waited because the kinks seemed to be worked out and I had a good experience! I'm from Oahu, so I am definitely picky about local food- but this place did not disappoint. The pan seared ahi tuna was fresh, and while I would want less lemon pepper next time, it was perfectly cooked. Came with a side of kimchi which was also bomb! The garlic chicken was crispy and fresh and ahi inari bombs were delicious with nice fresh pieces of ahi. Bowlz in Southern Highlands came highly recommended by a family friend, and there's definitely a lot to appreciate about this spot. We ordered several of their main entrées for pickup--mochiko chicken, garlic chicken, lechon kawali, and loco moco--and while some dishes didn't quite hit the mark for us, there were still bright spots that make us want to return. The garlic chicken was the one dish that didn't land. It tasted a bit over‑marinated or over‑seasoned, so it wasn't our favorite of the bunch. The lechon kawali had the classic flavors we expected, but the portion size felt smaller than anticipated for the price. The pieces also seemed like they may have been refried instead of freshly chopped, which affected the texture. The mochiko chicken had good flavor and a nice sweetness, though the pieces were on the smaller side and the quantity didn't quite match what we'd seen online. Still, the taste itself was enjoyable. The loco moco was a solid dish overall. The patty could've used a bit more seasoning, and the gravy leaned lighter and less salty than usual, but it was still comforting and satisfying. Where Bowlz really shines is service. Ordering over the phone was a great experience--friendly, patient, and genuinely welcoming. The food was packaged extremely well, and the location offers plenty of parking and lots of seating, from tables to booths. Those details made the visit feel smooth and stress‑free. Even though a few dishes didn't fully meet our expectations, we're definitely open to coming back. There are plenty of items we still want to try--poke, fried rice, noodles, and breakfast--and dining in might offer a different experience altogether. I used to go to the one that's on Charleston when it was in that little food court. This is a Hawaiian plate lunch and poke spot with a family history of a spot in Hawaii. They are known for their garlic chicken and their Bowlz pack which is a nod to the famous Zippy's Zip Pack. The food is fresh, portions are good, and the price is fair. We just ate lunch at Bowlz, and it's da bomb! My wife and I went upon recommendation of a Hawaii friend, who said it was kinda like Side Street Inn in Honolulu, so yeah we had to check 'em out! We got there early so it was kinda empty, not real big inside but a decent number of tables and booths. We were then was greeted by Trevis, the owner, who could tell it was our first time there. Very friendly guy, said he is part of the family who owns Side Street Inn, wanted to keep a lot of the SSI favs while adding his own tweaks to others. He said he not only wants to have his place remind folks of Hawaii but also bring the flavors and tastes of Side Street Inn and home here to Las Vegas...and I think bruddah did it!! After browsing and drooling on the menu, we decided to get the Street Fried Rice (just like Side Street Inn, 5 out of 5...maybe higher 6/6?!), Mochiko Chicken (nice touch of sweet, 5/5), Pastele Lumpia (just like lumpia but can grip it and rip it, 5/5), Salt & Pepper Baby Back Ribs (kinda like SSI Pork Chops, 4/5...needed a sprinkle more salt), Limu Poke (Trevis' fav and ours now, too...5/5), side of pickled garlic (lip smacker for us garlic lovers, 5/5), and a bunch of take out containers and bags since had choke leftovers due to portions big enough to pop some pants buttons! Wife got one of their fresh in-house made desserts, Trevis' take on the Paalaa Kai Bakery's Snow Puffies (she took home for dessert tonight, but looks like winnas!), while I grabbed a t-shirt for our wonderful friend who told us about this place!
