I don't usually do yelp reviews but here I am... I love coming here, but there are two things that bother me. One, the customer service at the Kahala location is just horrible. They always act like it is a chore when I ask for something as simple as utensils. Additionally, if you have a favorite salad they make it different every time. I don't understand why they can't be consistent. It's also a hit or miss, it is either good or bad. The biggest thing though is the customer service and quality, it would be nice to see more effort. I wouldn't complain if this has happened once or twice but every time I go there is something that bothers me. read more

Location: Ward Warehouse We got their Ono Island Ahi salad (Blackened fresh ahi tuna with mango, strawberries, shredded coconut, avocado, green onions & bean sprouts w/ Mango Vinaigrette dressing), which I thought wasn't so great, but my BF liked it. We also go their Maui Mozzarella salad (Vine-ripened tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, red onions & basil with freshly ground black pepper w/ balsamic vinaigrette dressing), which I liked better...but I've had better. I wanted their Cream of Broccoli w/ Mushroom soup, but they were out. Instead of got the Tomato Bisque which was had a hint of spicy-ness to it, but my BF still claims that it's just tomato sauce. I've been aching for a good salad place in the islands for years. My wife and I were stoked when Aloha Salads opened but have been a bit disappointed a few times. It's not a bad place at all---usually is OK. It does leave me wanting for something better though.... First off: skip the sandwiches. This is a salad place---they do not do sandwiches well. Second: always ask for extra dressing. All of their salads come off a bit dry if you don't. Third: The tuna is always stringy. It's not the best quality. Fourth: The produce all seems fresh (they claim its all local but really, when's the last time you saw a local olive tree, or garbanzo bush, or jicama?!?!?) Right? Exactly. It's not all local, but it is all relative fresh. Fifth: Order the Tomato Bisque each and every time you stop by. It's great. No matter what time of day or what mood feeling, my wife will always agree to this place. Part of me thinks it's because they have aloha in the name. The other part of me thinks it's because they have salads in the name. Aloha automatically makes you feel welcomed and then salads are like the healthiest/ most nutritional meals out there. I haven't had one of their salads yet, but I have sampled their delicious wraps. Although their hummus wrap is probably supposed to be free of meat, I made sure to order chicken with it. Their Mediterranean wrap also pairs really well with steak. Their tomato bisque soup is the perfect amount of spicy and the perfect portion. I've been skeptical about this place for years. My roomie always ventured here for sandwiches, but I just couldn't do it. I love me some salads and perhaps I was being a bit of a salad snob, until I caved one day I was hungry for something fresh and healthy. The choices are vast, in my standards, which makes deciding, quite difficult. In the end I chose the half sized mango,coconut, and avocado salad, topped with seared ahi slices. This salad was a burst of happiness in my mouth. The sweet mango, bits of coconut, and the warmth of the seared ahi, and the yummy fattiness of the avocado made such a harmonious melody in my mouth, I wished I had gotten the regular size! My go-to lunch spot when taking a trip to Whole Foods. Customer is great despite the long wait. The salad is made to order and not prepackaged. My favorite is their Ono Island Ahi Salad. You can get the fish however you want; I usually get it seared. It comes with lettuce, avocado, mango, strawberries, shredded coconut and the dressing is bomb! I got the tomato bisque today which was really delicious. It was creamy and a bit cheesy and you could really taste the basil which I like. Always come here and Lerrick is always working! He is the man always remembers you by name and 9/10 times he will remember your order. I went on a business trip for a couple months came back he remembered me by name and my order. I always order the regular Caesar, sub croutons for mandarin oranges and add tofu. Toss in the dressing it is good to go and very delicious! What is also cool is Jamba Juice is a short walk away. So you can pair up the salad with a Jamba Juice! During peak hours this place is jammed packed solid and rightfully so. Their veggies are fresh and have that nice crunch to them! One of the better places for salads. I got the large size because I was starving but it ended up being too much. Meh, kinda overrated and really pricey for what you get. Their soup is yummy but always has a thick coating of oil on top to remind you that it isn't at all healthy, and their salads are big yet mostly lettuce so you don't really feel like you're getting what you paid for. I would honestly recommend just going next door to Whole Foods and buying the ingredients to make a salad yourself, or getting something from the salad bar. I visit here pretty often, at least when i'm in the area, I make it a point to stop by and get my "healthy food fix". It can get busy, so I tend to call in my order to-go. Everything I have ordered here is really good, but my favorites are the Big Island Beet salad and the Hummus Pita Wrap. I have had the ono island ahi salad, which is yummy if you like blackened ahi on your salad. Parking can be tough if you go to kahala mall during peak hours, especially in the evenings. Just be patient, people are always leaving. I don't mind walking so I'll start searching for a stall at the back corner of the lot. There's also 15 minute parking stalls, which is very helpful! read more

This used to be my favorite salad place. I always order the Kamuela Cobb salad with steak. Their steak is always tender and I loved that my letttuce was always fresh. That was all in the past tense. Today, my steak had all this rib meat that I couldn't chew or swallow. The top of my salad looked great until I dug into the bottom and came across old wilted lettuce turning black. Definitely not appetizing. My daughter ordered the grilled cheese with tomato bisque and she was underwhelmed for the cost of a small soup and small sandwich. Please please please open a store near the Ala Moana area! This is my ultimate salad place. I found that it's been quite a challenge finding good salad places here in Hawaii and alas found one! I've tried the Ono Island Ahi and the Paia Pomegranate salad so far. Both were very fresh with great dressings. I love how there's so many different types of toppings which makes eating a salad not so boring. Papaya, mango, strawberries, fresh mozzarella, glazed walnuts.... The people here are always very friendly and accomodating. I think for what you get the price is reasonable. I had a salad from Fresh Cafe and thought it was a poor representation of a $10 salad. It's been almost a year since my last trip to Aloha Salads. We went during a non-peak time, and the service was much better (hooray!). The workers were friendly, and our food was done in a timely manner. The only disappointment was for taste. I got the Paniolo Salad again, but it just wasn't that good. Decided to try the Ono Island Ahi salad today. It's their most expensive signature salad on the menu. Because of the price I decided to get the small ($9.16 w/tax.) It's a salad with romaine, mango, strawberries, shredded coconut, green onions, avocado, bean sprouts and it's topped off with three slices of blackened ahi cooked medium. Dressing was mango vinaigrette. You have a choice of getting your salad tossed or with dressing on the side. Since I wasn't planning to eat in the mall I got the dressing on the side. It also came with two small pieces of pita bread. The fish was delicious and fresh. Because of the fruits and dressing it's a salad leaning on the sweet side. It was a nice balance of flavors overall, but if you don't like sweet you may not enjoy it. I liked it. They also have sandwiches and wraps. I heard the lobster bisque is supposed to be good if they have it as their soup of the day. I was debating whether to order the salad or the curried chicken wrap. I was wishy-washy about it and decided at the last second to go with the salad. Will go back later to try the wrap since I love curry chicken salad sandwiches in general. The tomato bisque never lets me down and always leaves me yearning for more. It's always hot (but not too hot for immediate consumption), creamy, and packed with intense flavor. Say yes to adding the cheese and basil on top--the toppings totally seal the deal! I have tried the Kamuela Cobb and Kahuku Spinach salads and they are both yummy. The quality of service has really dropped while the quality of food is still there (I mean it's just chopped veggies and cooked chicken) But the salad dressing and options of toppings made this place above all. Not to mention locally sourced goods. But when you're spending as much as you are here, you expect a standard of quality to retain clientele. A number of times I've added extra toppings and paid extra for them only for it to be left off my salad and driving back to Waikiki before discovering it. So I call to complain as it's the 2nd time it's happened, and they offer me a 15% discount on my next order. A week later I place another order and go to pay, they say "yes that's with 15% off. Now upon getting home I realize I didn't get a receipt so I add up the math based on my heartland app prices of previously ordering the same thing and most certainly did not even receive any discount. On top of that look at the one bite of avocado I paid $1.75 extra for. When you're spending almost $20 on a large salad and a small soup it has to be worth it. Sadly this place is not. Lettuce was starting to brown, one tiny cup of dressing for a box full of lettuce.
