I went to this restaurant ever since childhood and it has been my favorite Italian place for a while! The service is great and they tend to you well, the hot carpaccio is arguably the best appetizer on their menu. My favorite pasta here is the steak sauce linguine, but I think there's a little too much onions. I tried the lilikoi cheesecake recently and it tasted good but a little too thick and had a weird aftertaste. I would say it's good Italian food for Oahu.... That being said, the bar is pretty low here. Like, it's obviously better than CPK but it's definitely nothing compared to New York or somewhere actually in Italy. I got the carbonara pasta and it was quite yummy, but a tad bit greasy. I thought the price was reasonable but that's probably because I ordered the small portion. The service and atmosphere are both okay. It is a little more upscale, just FYI. Parking is pretty difficult because the lot is small so be prepared to drive around Kahala or wait for someone to leave. Would I come here again? Yes, but probably only if I was really craving Italian food. It isn't bad but it's also not one of the top places I keep in mind when recommending restaurants to people. read more

We visited Assaggios for dinner and it appears to have really gone downhill. They sat us on the Diamondhead side of the restaurant and the wall touching our table was so dirty I sat away from my friend so it wouldn't touch me. There was also what appeared to be a fly or gnat infestation in the area. The server was busy so he barely came by. Our food came out at different times which made it difficult to enjoy our meal together. When the food runner showed up he never offered any extras - black pepper or Parmesan cheese. My lasagne which used to be bubbly and delicious, seemed very old and dry. Assaggios had always been known for an upscale experience. It appears they've lost this touch for sure. read more

Such a disappointing lunch! The chicken sorrentino, which I've ordered many times, lacked any flavor. The mushrooms appeared to be CANNED. For $28 (small portion), I couldn't believe how small the chicken portion was. The eggplant and cheese were terrible as well. The waiter didn't check in on us ONCE after the food was served. My coworker's been craving Italian lately and offered to treat me to lunch, so I didn't want to pick anything that'd break her bank. When she asked where I wanted to go, I said Assaggio sounded good--and she made a reservation at the Kahala location. We were both running late because of meetings, but I called ahead and they were super chill about it. Told us, "Just come when you can." Love this place already. Tbh, I thought it might be a little bougie (Kahala vibes), but the service was great--friendly, not pretentious at all. We started with calamari and shrimp cocktail--solid choices. Been coming to this Kahala location several times a year because it's convenient for our guests. The food is ok. Service is good until the server stops by every 5-8 minutes to ask how we're doing, especially when we have food in our mouths. (They do the same thing at the Ala Moana location). I'll have to say that my family and I prefer the Kailua location. The food is always delicious and the service is perfect! We're hoping that a miracle will happen and that they remain open! read more

Assaggio's is known for decent Italian cuisine on Oahu with three locations. The one entree that stands out and I order every time is the Chicken Saltimbocco with roasted potatoes instead of pasta. It is my favorite dish there. Sometimes I switch it up by having veal instead of chicken. I always get the large portion so I have leftovers. Love the staff they are so friendly and kind, we placed a big to go order and it really made our day when we had it ready for pick up and able to enjoy during our lunch break. In NY Italian pizza places leave Italian seasoning, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and parm on the table to add flavor to pizza or pasta dishes. I bring my own shakers to add to my clam pasta dishes when I get Italian here because they don't do that here. I bring my own pecorino romano too. My son said he's going to order my dish next time we eat here. Lasagna: my husband's favorite Italian dish. Assaggio's lasagna is not his favorite but he considers their's to be above average. I love pasta! But I may love Assagio's house salad with their delish pickled veges even more. Just don't inhale while taking a bite. Or perhaps their fresh bread with butter, dipped in some parm while waiting for my food. Yummy! This time, we did take out right before they closed. Ordered 2 entrees and an extra bread with extra cheese. Picked up exactly when order was promised. The manager was so kind and provided great service. Other staff even stopped to ask if we've been helped, which was so refreshing, as we've been to so many restaurants where staff walk right past without any acknowledgment. Food was tasty as expected. The parking lot was full and busy so we had to park down the street and walk which wasn't too bad. They sat us right away. Service was great, food was good. We got the Cesar salad & the server makes it right in front of you. For appetizer we got fried calamari which was good. I got the combination seafood and shared with one of my daughters. My son isn't a pasta type and didn't see anything he liked except the steak, which was good with the Caramelized onions mushrooms and potatoes. Assaggio Bistro is located in Kahala within the complex housing Domo Cafe and UPS. They are located in the corner next to UPS. There is ample free parking in their private lot that they share with all the other businesses in the building. When you enter, you'll immediately see the cashier counter. To the right and left is the dining area. The place is clean and similar to all the Assaggio restaurants in decor. If you don't want to dine in, they offer take out as well. This most recent visit I picked up take out to see clients. I ordered the Chicken Anchovy Olio. The order came with bread and cheese. It's definitely not the same as dining in as the skin wasn't crispy by the time I ate it. The dish had decent flavor but I found it lacking a little. From other reviews, I read some orders were great while others were too salty. The kitchen probably has to work on consistency but it's been tough for lots of restaurants after COVID-19. With that said, the order wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The bread was dry and very disappointing according to my clients. We didn't eat more than a couple bites of it. Nonetheless, they are still a good option for Italian in the Kahala area. read more

Fantastic food and service! We decided to dine in for my brother's birthday. It was surprising to see only a few people in the restaurant. Everyone in my party ordered the filet mignon. The meat was soft and flavorful. Sawyer was our waiter and ensured all of our needs were met. My steak was too rare at first, so the waiter patiently took the dish back to the kitchen and the steak came out perfect. He even waited for me to cut the steak with a knife to check inside. Our waiter was a stud and remembered my brother's birthday by giving us a slice of the chocolate mud pie birthday cake at the end of the meal. So after dinner our party was actually deciding which was better, assagios or olive garden. It was a close 2 to 1 with assaggios taking the lead. But honestly if you are going to pay $20-30 for an entree, it better be better than decent. Otherwise I would make it at home for myself. Haven't come to Kahala Assaggio's in quite a while but it was a special occasion. We celebrated my sister ad cousin's birthdays and I had some gift certificates from my Christmas work gift to use. Not too much traffic other than the 2 tables around the corner and our servers. My uncle and cousin got the ceasar salad so it was cool to see the guy make it. All the times we ever went to an Assaggio's and we've never gotten that. Definitely something to get again. Of course there was more than enough for 2 and my aunty gave me some of her share. Yup, gotta get this next time we come back. After much internal and external deliberation, I decided to get the stuffed eggplant, regular plate so I could take some home. I like this cause it's so cheesy, there's eggplant, and I like the noodles that come it this. I think the noodles are linguine but I could be wrong. In any case it's just tasty and delicious. My uncle bought a fancy bottle of wine which everyone had a small taste of; I don't usually do red wine but this one was nice and smooth, not too dry. Don't ask what is is cause I have no idea. I shoulda taken a picture of the label. I really appreciate that Assaggio's has always let us bring our own cake for birthdays and they will hold it until it's time for dessert. My cousin brought the cake but I think she got it from Zippy's... side note, Zippy's makes good cakes. Love Assaggio's, the food is consistently good and service prompt. I made a reservation for Valentine's Day lunch the day before (!!) and was pleasantly surprised they had availability. It ended up being pretty busy but not overly so. We were seated in a booth at our request, and it was so comfy! They had nice pillows that were nice support for my back lol. Love the booths and they provided nice spacing and privacy. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and my husband a glass of Peroni. The drinks came very quickly. To eat, we had the calamari sticks, Chicken Assaggio and chicken anchovy olio. All the dishes were perfectly cooked and delicious. Chicken anchovy olio is my fav, the chicken has nice crispy skin.
