Yay! A great salad join in Oahu! The guy at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The ingredients are fresh, and you get to nod approvingly as they create your salad for you (and quickly let them know that you asked for that particular ingredient to stay off your salad when you see them reaching for it...). It's a pit pricey, but the big portion is pretty huge for one person (but very eatable). There's a nice selection and variation of salads, and you can also create your own. It's a great place for those looking to eat real foods or paleo style, or just grab a quick and healthy meal. The location in Kapolei is also nice - they have a sit down section upstairs which was sort of cool and surprising (altho i didn't make it up there). I think if I happen to be in either area and hungry, this will be one of the first places I'd go to grab a bite. read more

I have to say that Aloha Salads is one of my top places to get my "healthy grub" on. I used to hate going to Kahala Mall just because I could never find anything to eat here.. That was before Pandas and all that came around. But anywho, now all I want to do is go to Kahala just to get my salad. I'm a simple kind of salad eater.. Just give me a Caesar salad with extra croutons and I'm a happy camper. I'm not one to try all those fancy salads with their fruits and nuts and other vegetables.. No sir, lettuce with cheese and croutons and dressing are fine for me thank you very much. The workers there are very nice. Or maybe its just because I go there almost everyday after class at KCC.. But all the same, they are very nice and very helpful if you have questions about their menu. It's like they have a line on their application "Are you a naturally happy person?" when someone tries to apply. They have a huge selection of salads. Like I couldn't believe that they could have so many different variations on lettuce. o__O You can also create your own salad or fruit salad. What I love about this place too is that they give you warm pita bread to eat along with your salad. I have to say that it really compliments the meal, I would say the bf agrees too since he always tries to steal my bread. They also have wraps and subs and even a combo meal where you can get small salad and half a sub//wrap or soup and sub. Their wraps are good.. When I got there I noticed that I was wrong and was fixed when I saw the TV screen menu. I decided to get the Kamuela salad which was delightful. It was a hot day and I was not craving fast foods in between classes. So I visit Kahala Mall and noticed Aloha Salads. I figured why not try this place. So I ordered the Mandarin Ginger salad which was pretty decent. A good selection of mixed greens and not some typical all lettuce salad. There was shredded carrots, some type of peas, wonton strips, almonds, mandarin oranges, and a few chicken breast pieces. The oranges were alright, wasn't sweet. Didn't really like the peas. The sesame dressing was very thick and syrupy but was actually pretty good. Didn't taste overly sweet or vinegary. The chicken was very dry and flavorless. Though the whole salad cost me about $8, I'm going have to stay away from this place for the time being. Maybe if they were a dollar cheaper, I would probably come back there again. But maybe I'll try the custom salad next time. But I rather do a self serve type of salad bar but be able to weigh it out and such. read more

I have 1 hour break and sometimes the wait time takes about 30 minutes depending on what time you go during lunch hour in downtown district where all the top notch business people work. My wife said their salads make you feel like "breakdancing in your mouth" (whatever that means). She eats here every day and finally convinced me to try it. She brought home a Paia Pomegranate salad and a Hummus Pita Wrap for us to split. The salad came with spinach leaves, strawberries, papaya, mint leaves, red onions, walnuts (glazed), wonton chips and feta cheese with an interesting pomegranate dressing. Now I understand what she was talking about! I think my mouth was breakdancing too because of the fresh and delicious combinations of flavor. Nothing boring about this salad. I would go on a diet just to eat these salads! The hummus wrap was so good too. It was like putting a greek salad in a pita to go. Ok do normally I come here all the time and the service is great. However this time, I am standing at the register for a good 2 minutes while this guy Casey finally comes over. Seemed like I was bothering his story that he was busy telling the other 2 girls. Oh well, can't win'um all. Ok, this is another visit. Bought a chicken Thai and a Paniolo. Asked for both dressing tossed in. Went to a nearby park to eat. Both salads were drowned in dressing. There had to be a cup of dressing each of the small salads we ordered. Another bad experience. As long as you're not in a rush, Aloha Salads is a great place to go. I've noticed that they're a little short handed most of the time, but the staff is always friendly and I've always left satisfied. My go to order is their Caesar Salad with grilled steak. It's healthy, filling and doesn't break the bank like the salad bar at Whole Foods! Plus it comes with a piece of pita bread that's honestly one of the most delicious salad accompaniments in the world. Although the food is delicious, the customer service is horrible. They may be rated Best Salads for a news paper, but they would not be rated best customer service. As I was trying to figure out their menu, the employees were a little too busy in their own conversation to help me. After I was finally able to order, the many employees working did not feel like preparing my meal, but decided to continue in their conversations. I come here every week and LOVE, LOVE their Aloha Mediterranean Salad. I love the flavors and the fresh veggies that go into this salad. I also really like that I can see them making the salad right there in front of me and see the fresh ingredients. Another bonus is that they use LOCAL greens and veggies! I always try to buy and support local. The only thing that I would suggest is that the girls who make the salads move just a tad bit faster when there is a long line or that famous rush at lunch time. I like that they arent frazzled or bothered by people who are waiting for their food and who may not be the in the best of moods when they are hungry (I can admit, I can be like that too), but still, please just move a little bit faster or make it seem like you care about making our food in a timely manner. Love the freshness, the salads made to order and the fact that I'm supporting local. I'm a big supporter of local. It's been at least 3-4 years since I visited an Aloha Salads location. I opted to go the healthier route and ordered a salad for dinner. I was surprised that the same salad I ordered back then was still on the menu. The Kahuku Shrimp salad that I had ordered on my last visit was my choice again tonight. I was a little bummed that my shrimp was too salty. Other than the 4 pieces of warm shrimp that was seasoned a bit too much, the salad was good - fresh spinach, bacon, yes bacon, boiled egg served with papaya seed dressing. I'm not a fan of sweeter dressing, so I replaced my dressing with a BBQ ranch dressing and added cilantro for 50 cents. Service was fast. I only waited about 10 minutes being that it was busy and a Friday night. read more

We ate at Aloha Salads last night, ordering the ahi salad, small clam chowder soup, chicken wrap, and Mediterranean/Greek wrap. Also got the lilikoi iced tea. Like other Yelpers have mentioned, the soups are good but the small portion is very small for the price point. The chicken wrap was ok - not grilled chicken so it's probably not going to be reordered. The Mediterranean/Greek wrap was delicious and flavorful and will be reordered in the future. The lilikoi iced tea was delicious and they gave us a free refill. We ordered the large ahi salad so Mom would have leftovers. The salad was beautiful with lots of colors and textures. Mom wasn't sure what the yellow fruit was - chopped, soft, and sour. Pineapple? Mango? We decided it was supposed to be mango and was past its prime. After we ate, I decided to return to Aloha Salads and ask them to replace the mango with more avocado. The server wasn't sure what to do, so she referred me to the manager. The manager said no problem and started to do something I couldn't see. Hmmm, what's happening? A few minutes later, she came back and said she had prepared a new salad for me with more avocado instead of the mango. Then she transferred the ahi from my original salad to the new salad. Support Local!!! This is my favorite place to get a healthy meal or snack in Kahala Mall. I have NEVER left unsatisfied from Aloha Salads. Their produce is always fresh and crisp and tasty. READ MY FIRST REVIEW FOR POSITIVE COMMENTS So kalo burger is a thumb down.... So is the Paia pomegranate salad. Sorry. I'm still a fan because I love the Aloha Mediterranean salad. Kalo burger: This burger is $7.28 including tax, but it was pretty plain. My main complaint was the kalo patty part. It didn't have that much flavor and was super soft/mushy. It kept falling apart as I was eating it. I'd rate this two stars? Ouch, I'm mean, but I definitely wouldn't order this again. Paia pomegranate: WAY TOO SWEET! My sister, who doesn't really like dressing, specifically asked them to go light on the dressing, but they just went ahead and did the normal amount. Oh my goodness it was so intensely sweet. Like candy sweet. The rest of the ingredients were a nice combination (strawberries, walnuts, wonton strips, etc), but they were overwhelmed by the dressing. If you're interested in this salad, I'd suggest having the dressing on the side or better yet swapping out the dressing! So yeah. Today was a bad experience. Full disclosure: I love salad! We all know we should be eating salads instead of cheeseburgers, but how many people actually resist the temptation regularly? Aloha Salads makes it way easy to get hooked on salad. Their salad creations are inventive and diverse. If you don't like their concoctions, you can always build your own. They have a ton of ingredients to choose from, so you can go basic, or go cray. On my most recent trip to AS, I ordered the Ono Island Ahi salad (ahi, mixed field greens, mango, avocado, coconut, strawberries, green onions, bean sprouts & mango vinaigrette). I'm generally not a fan of coconut, so it was awesome that they let me sub for jicama. I got to choose the "doneness" of the ahi, which really made me feel like they wanted to get my order just right. The employees all seemed nice, and the guy at the cash register actually smiled genuinely at me when I stepped up to the front of the line. The reason I couldn't give them 5 stars is because of the prices. The "regular sized" Ono Island Ahi salad was $11.95, which is steep for a salad. Comparably, Pa'ina Cafe (similarly local, healthy) plate lunches are $8.95, and you get something much more filling. On the other hand, comparing AS to The Counter at Kahala Mall (both have "gourmet" lunch food, AS is easier on the wallet. read more

My favorite is the Steak wrap and your onolicious Tomato Basil soup and the bonus is the warm pita bread..so nice and soft! The people their are so friendly! The environment is very clean, I love the loft upstairs..sometimes the music is kind of loud! But, it's okay because their seats right outside...I love the fresh vegetables you have all in front of us and we can actually watch it being made! We had salads today that were supposed to have grilled shrimp. The shrimp wasn't grilled at all... it was more like it had been steamed. UGGGG! Bacon came on the side with a container of dressing. Cardboard carton so how do you mix the salad? Salad dressing was tasty but that was the only good thing about the salad. Also, we're pretty tired of having to add a tip even before you get the food, let alone eat it. Then they stand right there waiting for you to sign and wait/watch you add a tip. After hearing good things about Aloha Salads in Downtown as well as Kahala, I decided to try it last night for the first time. A friend that works in the mall raved about their tomato basil bisque, so I knew I had to try that, but I also wanted something else. I noticed a combo w/ 1/2 a sandwich and either 1/2 salad or soup, so I decided on that. For the sandwich, I decided on the Italian sub, and of course I got the tomato basil bisque to complete the combo. The combo also came with a bag of Kettle Chips or veggie chips. The Italian sandwich was pretty hearty with various Italian meats and cheese, as well as some lettuce. But the tomato basil bisque was to die for! It came with a pita on the side, which I didn't eat since I wasn't that hungry. I would go back to Aloha Salads for the soup alone. I have to say that while the sandwich was tasty, the value of this combo is poor. And believe me, when it comes to food, I am not at all stingy, but I know value when I see it. As my friend said, the 1/2 sandwich was "cute." It was basically just a tad larger than a dinner roll. I could have gotten a full sandwich and soup for just a dollar or two more, and I would have had leftovers for lunch. Will I go back? Sure - next time I"ll try one of their salads, which looks amazingly fresh. But I'll just skip the combo meal and get full sizes instead. read more

I like this Aloha salads better than the one in Kapolei. Whenever I go here I always order one of the combos. Either the soup and salad or soup and sandwich. Ive tasted some of their salads and they're interesting. I normally like their Caesar salad because the shaved parm cheese. Thomas, the guy that works there is super nice and very efficient with his team. When he's not there which is the night time shifts the girl's that work there are very slow. They'd rather talk to the whole foods workers that ask for refills.. i thought it was rude but i learned my lesson... i don't go there at night. Only between lunch hours. First time here and I was impressed. Especially for a store in the food court of the mall. All the fruits and veggies looked and tasted fresh. I got the aloha sandwich and was thrilled with the flavor and unique taste. OK, keep in mind the context - this is a mall salad place. I had the Cobb salad, which I was very happy with. I got the small size which was plenty for A small-ish appetite. I had the salad lightly dressed which they did an OK job with. The salad came with two quarters of a pita bread. What put this above a typical mall salad was that the ingredients seemed more freshly prepared and with more care than a typical fast food salad place. The bacon was cut into fairly large pieces and tasted good. For my salad, the woman preparing it grabbed a whole, fresh avocado and proceeded to cut and dice a portion of it into my salad. I was satisfied with it considering I was trying to get a quick bite before a movie. And, I knew I was going to be filling up on popcorn. :) read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I work in an office at the Kahala Mall so eat at the mall on a daily basis and Aloha Salad was on my weekly rotation. Today I spent over $20 including tip on my large Paniolo Salad and side of soup. I ate half of my salad at my office, however was not given enough dressing so I walked back (sans wallet) over to get extra dressing. I was told there would be a charge, when I asked for the manager - I was told the same in a very rude fashion. LOL such a joke - they just lost a loyal customer over .75 cents. It's honestly really sad that I have to resort to coming on yelp and being one of those customers that leaves a bad review because I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt but then they messed up my order the two times that I went there and that's when I decided enough is enough! First and foremost I just wanted to say I love this place but after the experience I have had with them two months ago and now today, I've become a really upset customer. It was two months ago when I had gotten a paniolo salad with no dressing. Like come on how are you suppose to eat a salad without dressing? So I then proceeded to call them and tell me that this happened and I wanted some sort of compensation for this situation. They then proceeded to get my name and number and told me next time I came in I would get a free salad. Fast-forward to two months after, I go and get the free salad I was promised because last time like I said I had no dressing for the salad. I then proceeded to tell them what happened last time and that I left my name and number with them. They then said they couldn't find my name and that they'd just give me a 10% off discount. Now I was willing to let the first time go but then she didn't charge me for the CHICKEN ON MY SALAD that I specifically asked for. I said "okay then can I just have a paniolo salad with chicken" and she said "okay" and then I said "and I'll just get the small size." Guys I understand all too we'll that sometimes you just have a stressful day at work but if you are really not gonna pay attention to what your customer is saying while taking their order, just don't bother ruining your managers business. I have never been so mad at someone for poor customer service. I ordered a steak wrap, and after seeing 4 people get their sandwiches before me, I asked them what's up and they responded that steak takes longer than making a salad. Like I'm an idiot or something. After 5 more people got their sandwiches and after waiting for 35 minutes I asked for a refund. They finally realized that they really didn't make my wrap and blamed it on fob Japanese women who took my wrap. I was standing there the whole time and didn't hear my name when they took their own sandwiches. Fake apologies and terrible customer service. The Cobb salad was OK. But I like a well dressed salad and when I ordered a Cobb salad to go I asked for the dressing on the side. So, I get a good looking salad with a little tub of dressing. Like I said I like my salad well dressed and one tub of dressing would not suffice for my taste. I asked for an extra dressing and was told that I would be charged for it. I declined, but the thing is that there is only one size of dressing so I am sure you get the same amount when you order the smaller portion. There are other places to get good salads, so I will probably not return. This was my first time at the Kahala location so my first impression is that they should give the customer what he or she wants because the are in a customer service related business. I've had a few bad experiences here. 1. Hair in my salad and when I mentioned it the next time they didn't offer me any compensation I liked the salad dressing and salad choices so much I tried it again and again. Then 2. BEETS were spoiled. 3. Some staff not so good but that could be anywhere, Doesn't say anything about the salad.
