OMG, How long does it take to make a salad, Aloha Salads? I know aloha has different meanings, but I didn't know that slow was one of them!! I usually understand and give food service workers the benefit of the doubt, but their speed of service is ridiculous. Sorry folks, you can get the same quality salads elsewhere for cheaper and faster. I waited fifteen minutes for a salad and a wrap... I first got to try Aloha Salads when they opened up the Kahala Mall location about a year ago. On my quest to live and eat healthy, I figure I would try some fresh greens. Okay I must say, I was impressed with how good the signatures salads tasted. Almost all the produce there are local grown and they even get the fish (Ahi) off the block every morning so you know you are getting quality. My fav is the "Aloha Passion", but you can make your own comb as well. Their dressings are to die for!! If you are looking for a healthy fresh meal...Aloha Salads is the way to go!!! read more

I used to love this place but yesterday was the last time I will be visiting. Cassie behind the counter was rude and short with me. She was unpleasant and had an attitude. I was about to ask for the manager, but didn't want to get into it. I ordered the 1/2 salad and 1/2 soup and was really disappointed with the salad. The goddess salad had overripe and mushy papaya on it that didn't have the skin removed. The almonds in the salad were obviously sitting in water or something wet as they were soggy and stale. I used to go here all the time~ seems like the lack of guests has lead to lack of freshness. I'm sure that papaya was cut days before and reused. Yuck. I was so excited to see they had a Cobb Salad on their menu, so of course, that's what I went with. It was ok, nothing special. The next time I had the craving as I passed it with its nice decor and fancy digital sign (that I can't see bc my vision's gone kaput, gotta use the paper menus) - I gave it a second try. First of all, it bugged bugged BUGGED me that the girls who work there have the longest Merry Monarch hair and it's not in a hair net. I'm the detective of mysterious items in my food when I eat, so the last thing I want to find is a dang hair in my food....but as I watched my salad being made I was disgusted to see the help wipe her face WITH HER GLOVE ON!!!!!!!!!!....like WTF?! Appetite - gone! My bf looked at me at the same time and we both said, "Did you see that??" Needless to say, second time around, the salad was not appetizing plus my salad was soaked in dressing with a few brown pieces of lettuce. I told myself, "Never again." Hope that tells you enough about my experience. Don't let me change your mind though....but watch that Merry Monarch hair swing over your food and you might have a second thought. So I have to say that the food is ok. Salads are good, and seeing as there aren't that many salad places around, it's good. But because it's a limited market. I was serviced by one of the owners when visiting the Ward location, and she was not very service-y. I mean, not to me, anyway. And service is SO important! Anyway, on to the food... don't get anything with chicken in it, the chicken is so PLAIN! No flavor whatsoever! But, on the upside, do get the lobster or crab bisque! Oh so YUMMY! After taking my "make your own salad" to go a few days ago I couldn't stop thinking about how good this place was (and how unlucky I was to still not have access to my own kitchen yet) so when I happened upon Aloha Salads again a few days later I had to order the small Island Ahi salad. I was pleasantly surprised to be given a choice of how I wanted my ahi prepared and I was very sad after tasting my salad that I only ordered a small. This salad is *amazing.* I know that its a salad, but the way that the flavors meld together had me making mental notes for making salads at home. I mean why had I never thought of mixing avocados and strawberries together? Its fantastic! Add in some blackened ahi and bam! Brilliant. Did it take a while to get my salad? Sure did. Amazing tomato soup and really nice service. But was not worth the trip or price. Ordered a small Caesar salad with shrimp and was very thrown off to open the salad to two single shrimps. We also ordered the Maui mozzarella and got two slices of mozzarella and two end slices of a tomato. We understand that it was a small size, but two shrimps seemed cheap considering the price and what was described on the menu... our salads were pretty much just lettuce. It really says it all in the name. "Aloha Salads". The Aloha is everywhere in the environment. From the food to the people, you can't go there and say you never experienced the aloha. My first experience was definitley worth coming back for. I am now a regular for their warm tomato bisque which is even better garnished with cheese and basil. The variety there is crazy, and it makes it very hard for me to say what my favorite salad is. I love all of it! The price is well worth coming everyday for. Not only does my visit leave me with a few laughs and good conversations, but my meal leaves me with a satisfied feeling knowing that everything is fresh and healthy. When I am looking for more than a salad and its veggies, I normally get one of steak, shrimp, chicken, or ahi on it. (Depending on what I am craving) I have a goal here. To try everything on their menu, from salads to soups to sandwhiches to combinations, each and every recipe will never let me down. I fell in love! The goddess salad is my favorite!! Get it with shrimp! I absolutely love the tomato bisque soup! The cheese and basil garnish makes it. Their ice tea drink is good. This place got soo expensive. I ordered the soup and salad combo which somehow came out to $14.75 (I swear it was a few dollars cheaper the last time I came). ALOHA SALADS: We had been loyal fans of you place at Kahala Mall for years. We have been meeting our friends the Kowalkes there 1-2x a month for soup/salads/sandwiches for years now, I am sure since you first opened. We have even met you, the young owner there on occasion, and spoke with you. In the last year or so, we have not been overly enthusiastic about your portions...the soup amounts are getting smaller, the soups are barely warm and you have no way to heat them up. Your soups have been devoid of anything "chunky" in them, even when ordering a soup that is supposed to have "chunky" thing in them. But, we have persevered and kept coming back to you. On Friday evening, June 24, we ordered food to go. Since I am on a macrobiotic diet, I thought a "customer chooses 4 item" salad would be just perfect. so I ordered the north shore greens, jicima, broccoli, snow peas and mushrooms. I let my husband pay and collect the food while I went next door to whole foods to purchase a fresh lemon because you only had lemon juice, not a lemon slice and I didn't want a lot of lemon juice to be put on my salad. We got our dinners home and this is when I discovered the dismal meal that we paid good money for: My "custom" salad that I ordered turned out to be.... I got head lettuce, a few pieces of romaine, some token bits of red lettuce. Not very much lettuce at all and not what I would call north shore greens. The sliced mushroom didn't even total up to ONE mushroom, maybe 3 thin slices. The tiny broccoli flowerettes barely filled a soup spoon and were no bigger than my thumb tip. There were TWO snap peas... One cut in half and the other whole. They also looked tired and old and covered with brown spots. You were ok with the jicima cut into small cubes. We were back at the Mall on Sunday nite with the _ and their son. I brought my own meal from home, my husband and the _ bought food from Whole foods. You have lost some good customers. I frequently visit the Aloha Salads in Kapolei but was in the area. I figured we traveled far enough just to go to Whole Foods so why not get something from there. No. I end up at Aloha Salads. Pretty odd too as I have never been to this location. I end up getting my "go to" salad. I can't steer away from bacon. I think its probably because I am already stuffing my face with healthy foliage that I think I should be allowed to eat bacon so I choose my Kamuela Cobb salad. Yes, my small salad came to 8 bucks but I always feel its totally worth it. It has lots of eggs, chicken, bacon, herb ranch dressing, and locally grown salad so I feel good for supporting local. read more

Pretty good choice if you are trying to be healthy and looking for something refreshing. Very convenient. My favorite dish is the ono island ahi. You can get it seared, and it comes with a mixture of fresh fruits (strawberries, mangos) and veggies..like a little sampler of sorts. Also, comes with a side of pita bread..YUM. The mango vinagrette dressing is delish..which is saying a lot since I don't often like too many salad dressings (I'm a bland girl ha). Otherwise, I wish the ahi was a little colder temperature wise. So, upon my receipt of my 1 star review, the owner of Aloha salads, Chris, emailed me via Yelp and offered me an opportunity to try them again. Chris generously gave me a gift card which let me try out many different things from their menu on several different days and I have to say there is a vast improvement from ALL the other times I've eaten there. Not sure if my review spurred these changes but the veggies were much fresher, soup steaming hot, and the chicken was not foul. It was a bit on the tough side, but I'll just order something other than chicken from now on. I'm really pleased to add another local eatery to my list of places I regularly frequent. If you like to have a soft drink when you eat then don't buy one from Aloha Salads. The guy literally filled the cup to the top with ice. I swear when he put that cup under the fountain, he held it there for a measly 3 secs which was more than long enough to fill it to the top. I mean how much soda was that??? I'll tell you, about 3 sips worth. If they're not already ripping you off with their salads then they will surely get you with their fountain drinks!!! I love salad. Especially when I get to make my own with so much variety or even substitute certain things in a signature salad. This was my first time going to the Kahala location and I didn't know they had combos, with soup, salad, and a drink. I thought it was a good price for all three. I never had soup from here, ever, and I got their tomato bisque and it was delicious. Hands down, best tomato bisque I ever had. I am a regular at Aloha Salads at Kahala and Kapolei. I always spend at least $35-45 dollars when I am there. I went to the Kahala store on Tuesday 11/27 at approximatly 3:45pm. This time I ordered the Tomato bisque. The employee (no visible name tag), short lgbtq female took my order. Took my card and must have swiped it at least 6 times. Then she took a paper folded my card in the paper and swiped it another 2-3 times. Then she asked if she would manually type in the dig. I agree'd but became concerned after that. I lost patients when she asked me what was my zip code... She has my numbers, my name, my exp date, my 3 dig code in the back, now wants my billing zip code... all the time she is not explaining to me that the computer is not working properly. After I expressed and vocalized my concern, with a sassy voice she asked if I still wanted the item and I didnt need to get all rough with her. Little does she know I teach customer service, and customer service with ALOHA for over 5 years. I also trained for PCI DSS & Security Awareness Training. So I know I am not at fault. She is lucky my professionalism and age trumped her attitude she gave to me. I emailed the corporate office and I am still waiting to hear back from them... Better than salad creations. I think how much you like Aloha Salads depends on what you order. I don't remember the name but when I lived near here I always ordered the salad with grapes and walnuts in it, it was delicious with reg balsamic instead of what they give you. also add steak for an extra 3 bucks. I eat at the Kahala Mall location at least twice a week. Favorite is the Kamuela Cobb with the Ceasar w/ seared ahi running a close second. Fresh products and a very friendly and helpful staff. They do sometimes run out of particular ingredients for a specific salad, but can substitute which tasted better to me the one time it happened. read more

First off i'd like to start by saying the the salad was great for 12 bucks. They gave me a single(very small) salad dressing for my large salad. All the workers there are huge goof balls it was like watching a middle school operating the kitchen. I laugh how they bost all organic food and then they sell you a nice large soda to wash it all down. The place is a rip off and the only reason i ate there in the first place is because my girlfriend likes it. I would never eat there again if it was up to me. Funny i spent $12 bucks on a salad and when the lady forgot my salad dressing had the nerve to look at me as if i was lying about not getting one. Awesome place, great service, they can be busy sometimes and it can take some time for them to make your food but that's because it's not mcdonalds (haha) and everything is fresh, they work hard to get orders out as fast as possible during their rushes. Also if you stand in a long line to order your food chances are you're going to wait in a long line for you food. Tom runs a tight ship, cleanliness, quality, and service are paramount. I've seen the inside of a lot of other small eateries like this and this place is immaculate in comparison. There's a tall handsome lad there named Rudy, that man deserves a raise and a promotion, wow. Make sure you try a hummus pita wrap but ask for it on wheat bread instead of pits, it's delicious. Okay well this aloha salads is probably the best one on the island considering that they always give me the options of my dressing tossed into my salad or not and if I want cheese in my soup or not haha plus the workers are always SOO nice to me when I come here and even though they forgot my avocado the last time I ordered a kahuku spinach from here .. This time I came here they made my food fast and it was made perfectly and they always give me lots of pita bread and the bread is always super warm and delicious when I get it as well as my soup. I have to bring my stars back up for this place because it looks like they do a really good job here , better than all the other ones I've been to .. Their tomato bisque and turkey sandwich is so amazing. However, I wanted to write a review because their manager is so awesome. He's always there whenever I go (he obviously needs a break.) I go there at various hours of the day and he always seems to be there. But his customer service is great. He's always smiling. Recently, I went there and ordered a tomato bisque. I asked him how long it would take (I needed to be at work in 15 minutes) and he told me he would make it for me right then. There were multiple people waiting, but he went out of his way to make my soup. He's sweet. Great customer service! read more
