Made the drive to see what hype was about and did not disappoint! Shack tots were hot, crispy, delish! Got the two protein combo with kalbi and shack chicken. Mac salad for the side for the combo. Got a side of poke because why not? And was a decent portion for a side! Everything came out hot (except the poke obviously) and can easily feed two people. Very casual vibe inside and they have merch you can purchase. The menu prices listed on here are not current. I think each item cost about $1 more now. Loved the service! The lady was super friendly and seems like she knew a lot of the regulars.

I've been to Aloha Shack 3 times and have always been impressed. First two times I got the Kahlua Pork nachos and the patty melt and they were both delicious. But this last time I got the kahlua pork tacos with cheese as the tortilla and it was PHENOMENAL. Eat it while it's hot and fresh. Cannot recommend enough. I also always get the special tator tots and dip it in the garlic mango buffalo sauce which is my favorite Buffalo sauce ever, island bbq sauce is also yummy. Lots of flavor here. Hawaiian vibes inside the shack and always friendly service.

Great food, the Mac and cheese is one of my favorites, the chicken wings have great flavor and the teriyaki chicken very moist and lots of flavor. The service is friendly. Cute Hawaiian decor, love the pictures of the Ohana, feel the love.

I really like this place. I had pancit and kalbi ribs. I also had a side of rice, mac salad, and cabbage salad. My husband shared his tots with me. The pancit was good but not my favorite but I loved everything else. I also got a hat that says samoan. Very nice anniversary dinner with my husband. The staff were very nice. The artwork was nice and the seating was ok. The restaurant was super freezing especially on a rainy day.

Came in on a Friday afternoon and the place was pretty empty. Came here specifically to try the lumpia because it had been so long since I had some. The Lumpia was decent but the real star was the chicken wings with ono sauce. Ono sauce is a mix of sriracha, honey, and sesame sauce and it was so delicious. Not too sweet and not too spicy. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. My husband got the loco moco and he enjoyed that as well. If I'm ever in the area again I would for sure stop by for the wings!

Hidden gem! Resturaunt is very clean and was playing great music walking in. I ordered the pancit and it is probably the best pancit I've ever had and that's hard to say growing up on it. My wife's teriyaki vegetable chicken bowl was also delicious. Staff was showed much aloha! Will definitely return and have to try some awards winning wings. Don't miss out on this place. Much Mahalos to the owners of this shack

10/21/2023- Whew a long day trip, driving Donner Lake through 89 North to looping back around to 395.. Hungry as heck! So glad we stopped.. Ordered the teriyaki chicken with rice and Mac salad.. Always hits the spot!

This is my favorite Hawaiian BBQ in Reno. My favorite is the shack chicken. It's crunchy and has a wonderful sauce on it. For me, it's not too spicy. It comes with your choice of macaroni salad or cabbage salad. Haven't tried the cabbage salad because the macaroni is my favorite. I've always gotten takeout, so this the first time I've eaten here and it's pretty clean including the bathroom. Staff is pretty friendly even when we have takeout. Only bummer is they're closed on Sundays and Mondays. All in all I recommend this place highly.

Normally, when we come into Reno we always eat at our go to place. This time I felt like we should try something different. I suggested Hawaiian food. This place was off the beaten track but decided, based on reviews, it would be worth the drive. We arrived to find the place is more like a hole in the wall place. There was nobody there so we were hoping the reviews were true. Upon entering the place is pretty basic with some Hawaiian decor and an area where trophies were displayed. You walk up to a counter to order. We asked a few questions about what she recommended. We decided to give 3 things a try, the Chicken Katsu, The Shake Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken Veggie Bowl. Be prepared for your paying screen to ask for a tip but be aware you are walking up to place your order, getting your own drinks and bussing your own table. Tip or don't tip based on that. We sat down and waited. Food was ready in about 15 minutes. An employee brought our food in to go containers, brought napkins and forks. I've had Hawaiian food in different cities. My Katsu was very good but not the best I've tried. My husband liked his Shake Chicken, a generous portion given, but Hawaiian food isn't something he would ever suggest eating. My daughter's Teriyaki Chicken Bowl was great according to her. I actually didn't know that the Teriyaki Chicken bowl with veggies had rice at the bottom because I would have gotten that instead of the rice and macaroni salad that comes with the other entrees. We did have the employee ask how everything was which was nice. During our time there, there was at least 10 to go orders picked up and 2 other table of people sat down. I do recommend people in Reno, who want to try Hawaiian food, give this place a try. As for us, there are too many other places to try when we are in Reno unless we are in that area.

The day of our visit Id enjoy their Chicken Katsu with Curry and Fritzie had a Mixed plate with Garlic Chicken and Katsu. I forgot about their garlic chicken. Their garlic chicken is so good. Each bite was crispy, savory and delicious. On this visit there was something off about their dipping sauce they served with the Katsu. It didn't have that usual smooth flavor. It was slightly more acidic. The curry made better for dipping. The service was quick and despite Fritzie W. changing her mind on a few items, they were still patient and courteous. The restaurant is laid back, and a few patrons eating inside appeared content enjoying their meals. Lo and behold, L&L had a tray available to order and ready for pick up in an hour and a half. I was worried that it was too soon of a pick up but the cashier was able to place the order. I got there at the agreed time and the lumpia was ready to go. I ordered two of the large trays that was placed in one tray and was given two large bottles of sweet chili sauce. We were pretty hungry so we ordered some musubis, a mini loco moco, and a protein plate. As far as I can tell, the musubis aren't made with the mold so it can fall apart pretty easily but overall it was good. We got two katsu musubis and a Portuguese sausage musubi. All the other food was as delicious as I expected so no complaints from me. The place is small but clean. They share the same unit with a round tables pizza so it was pretty quiet in there. The order of lumpia was devoured before the night ended. Everyone enjoyed them and someone took one of the unused sweet chili bottles home! Guess that means it was very good!

We walked in for a weekday lunch and were greeted by the host. As we were the only diners, she said choose any table. In the beginning, she was very present (maybe a bit too much) and after bringing drinks and giving us a few minutes to consider the menu, she disappeared for quite some time. When she emerged from the back she resumed her seat at the host stand and we had to flag her down to get her to come and take the order. This pattern sadly repeated throughout the meal, having to get her attention for water, items needed for the table, to order dessert etc. On top of that, the bar was staffed but empty during most of our time there, yet the bartender wasn't even looking in the direction of the tables. I ordered the Hawaiian meatballs, which were accurately described as two large meatballs over rice and quite a sizable portion, served with choice of two sides, which I had white rice and a salad. The meatball sauce was like a more savory teriyaki and it seemed the meatballs were cooked in a nice brown beef type gravy too. The side salad was quite impressive as well, and a portion big enough to eat throughout the meal. The salmon bowl my wife had was really great too. These entrees are the clear winner. The biggest letdown wer the poke nachos. In theory these sound great but the portion of poke is so small that it ends up being some tortilla chips with pico de gallo on them and then a small group of cut up tuna. For the price I expected quite a bit more. While the quality of the tuna was good, the portion was just far too small. We also had the Dole Whip. A delicious taste of nostalgia, but for the price, this could be a lot more generous and an item that could go instantly viral for the restaurant if done right. All in all, good, but four is a generous rating. It's a nice addition to the area and one I'll certainly revisit, but it has left me wanting a bit more.
