This is not a five star restaurant. The decor is local and a little tacky, but no one cares because the food is Southern Homestyle with a splash of special. Yes, everyone talks about the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes- which are good, but the Cinnamon Roll WAFFLES are even better in my opinion. My husband and kids love the breakfast platter that has eggs the way you want them, bacon, fluffy biscuits and gravy. No one leaves hungry, although I do wish they would cook the peppers and onions before throwing them in their omelette. While vacationing in Navarre Beach, I finally had a hunch for brunch, so I turned to Yelp to point me in this direction. It's not on the main parkway, but easy to find. Out of all of my dining experiences in NB, this place was the busiest. The menu is right up my alley. Mainly, your ordinary down home breakfast staples. I went with the country fried steak... perfectly battered and fried. It was accompanied by hash browns and a biscuit and gravy. I was a little bewildered when the waitress asked me what kind of gravy I wanted... any place that makes several versions of gravy is a fiver. The only reason that I didn't rate it was a five was because our waitress wasn't the greatest in the land. I noticed that they have a salad bar that is open for lunch. Our first experience at Alphy's we came in for breakfast at 10:36. Ms Phyllis (hopefully that's spelled correctly) politely let us know the kitchen was flipping to lunch. We were devastated, and considered leaving. I'm so glad we stayed! For lunch we had fried shrimp and oysters, with sides of grits and hush puppies. The service was incredibly quick and friendly and soon we were eating. Then disaster struck. My friend's baby started crying and she stood up, preparing to take him outside for a walk and to leave her freshly fried shrimp behind. Out of nowhere Ms. Phyllis appears. She takes Julian (the baby) and watches him while we finish our meal. Turns out she's raised seven kids and he happily tours the room with her as she chats and refills coffee until we have paid out and are ready to leave. Naturally we came back for breakfast the next day. I had eggs Benedict and a blueberry pancake (yes two meals -- I had to) while my friend had a classic plate of eggs, grits, and bacon. This time Julian slept, which actually disappointed Ms Phyllis who was hoping for more baby time. This is a great spot for travelers and locals. It's been open for 45 years and the food is homemade. The food here really is good. The best breakfast in the Gulf Breeze/Navarre area. Shrimp and grits are my favorite, while the SO prefers their omelettes. Service is always friendly. My only complaints would be that when we often go in there and they are not wearing masks and that they rarely have our food ready when we order for pickup. COVID is real still! They will tell us 20mins. We will wait around and leave, getting there at the 20 min mark and then they will sometimes make us wait another 20-30 mins, which requires us to wait in there crowded lobby where everyone is standing waiting for a table and not wearing masks. read more

The waiter was pretty good and so were the mimosas that they only serve for breakfast on the weekends. As a local who's been here for about a year, I've been wanting to try this place out for a bit. I usually go to TC's for breakfast/brunch, but they were backed up, so today was the day. Our server was kind, but you could tell she was in the weeds and it was difficult to get her attention as a result. She took our order and then a 45 min wait ensued. The food came out, and that's where I can say for sure I will not be returning. Part of my sons order was missing, not a huge deal, but after waiting 45 mins, you would expect things to be correct. The food was underwhelming all around and the food temp was lukewarm at best, like it has been sitting at the pass for a while. The final straw though, was my husband finding a hair on his plate. It wasn't his hair or the servers, so I'm not sure what kind of kitchen practices are happening back there, but this is disgusting. The server apologized (it's not her fault though) and the meal was removed from the check. Hopefully my family and I won't be sick later. As a Navarre local, I would love to support this establishment, but I can't. Looks like I will just shoulder the longer wait at TC's or better yet, Ruby Slipper in Pensacola. read more
