Bought two large sandwiches (roughly $40) for my family. Service was good and fast. However the lettuce on both of the sandwiches was visibly old, wilted and stale. Some pieces were even beginning to brown. Taste only confirmed this. For a self proclaimed specialty sandwich shop to serve visibly wilted, stale and even browning lettuce shows a complete lack of care or respect. Even the tomato wasn't fresh. It's a total shame, my family has been getting sandwiches here for over a decade. This was the place me and my sister always wanted for our birthdays. I know or at least suspect I've reviewed Alpine before. Because I have been there many times (and they recognize Santa!) and I have never been disappointed! It's always so friendly! Even the cadre of always busy sandwich making crew usually look up with a friendly glance, if even for a second! And, while my wife goes for the roasted veggie sandwich, I always get the 9" Alpine, eating half and saving half for later. Tomato, lettuce, delicious ham, turkey, mortadella, and cheese--the only variety for me is how much or how little oil& vinegar I want added. That, and a bag of Jays "can't stop eating them!" chips and Santa's got his boots off, feet up, and one of his loyal elves to fetch him a beer. It's the best! And the Alpine has No Onions, thank God! NOTE: sausage, homemade pasta, sauces, all in the cooler. I say I'm gonna do some of that...but just haven't yet! One day. Folks, we can't eat an Alpine every day...but once in a while. There's multiple reviews stating they only get about two slices of meat in their sandwich and I couldn't agree more. the past few times I've gone to this location there is literally two pieces of meat on my sandwich. mind you i order it with mayo and turkey on it, it's really disappointing for how expensive it is to get a sandwich from this place. read more

This place used to be good, but it really went downhill. I don't know if it's new owners, or they just got really cheap. I frequent this place regularly, but the last 2 times, it was really terrible. I bought a sandwich there a couple of weeks ago, and there was hardly any meat or cheese on it. I thought maybe it was a new employee that didn't know better, so I gave them another chance. 2 days ago, I sent my girlfriend there for some sandwiches. I told her to get me the Alpine special but hold the oil dressing. When I opened the sandwich, there was no oil, but also no lettuce, tomato, or anything else. Less than an ounce of meat and cheese on plain bread. $9 for that? I will never go back. From now on when I want a sub sandwich, I'll go to Frankie's Deli on Butterfield Road in Oakbrook Terrace. They give you 8 times as much meat for a lower price. read more

The best sub shop! Grew up eating their subs in Elmwood Park. Moved to LaGrange and would always drive to pick up subs for my family and friends. Now I am so happy they have opened in Westchester. Delicious! My first time at this little hidden sandwich place on 31st.Had the Alpine sandwich, loved the crisp fresh bread which was not so thick to overpower the delicious ham, salami, cheese fresh tomato slice & shredded lettuce . It was very tasty. Quick friendly staff, the place was hopping midday Saturday, good indication of a great sandwich place. The sausages in the cooler looked great. From a person that absolutely adores sandwiches this place is the best in the area. This is their 2nd location, it's in a very cute strip mall. They opened a few years ago and are still doing a fantastic job. They are usually pretty busy, the team is freshly slicing deli meat constantly. My go-to order is The Alpine, it's an Italian meats sandwich with vinegar and olive oil, I don't make any modifications, it's perfect as is. I've had just about everything on the menu but I keep coming back to a large Alpine. It's huge and I can eat on it for a few meals. Thank the sandwich gods this place exists!!! read more

My Favorite sandwich shop in the area. Subs the way they should be made. Freshly sliced meats when you order with fresh ingredients. Some may complain that they do not pack the sandwiches with meat like Fontano's but it is well balanced and you can taste the quality in the meats. Well priced sandwiches. First timer review. Writing this as I'm devouring the best sub I've ever had. Subway who?? Wow, this is fresh, this is homemade, purely delicious. I moved into the town two years ago. Still trying to discover places around. My husband stumbled upon this place online. After reading the reviews I had to try it. Now the sub we can get out of the way, 10/10. Can't wait to try the rest of the whole menu. Now as the first time customer here are some things I have to say about the service and the ambience. I do wish they had a simple sign on where to place your order. After waiting a bit I was told to order, "over there" rightfully so I moved to the register. After waiting 5min I was told this was only check out, order over there by the deli where the staff was occupied making subs. Therefore, a sign would be appreciated, it seems a little unorthodox to order on the side that seems busy, a little sign would solve that confusion. Now this is just my opinion but I would change the name to Alpine Subs. They are a hit! That should be the star. See, I also went in hopeful to get a bit of groceries and found very minimal selections. The name is a bit of a throw off. They do have wonderful selections of meats and minimal, but-THE BEST CHIP selection. But definitely not a place to shop for grocery. Just deli items. I do love the Alpine shop in Elmwood Park, but I have to say I like this location much better. A very friendly staff & a few tables for outdoor eating. Don't get me wrong the staff is friendly at Elmwood Park but they have so much going on that a few times our orders were messed up. So, I think I will stick with the Westchester location. Alot of parking too which is a Big Plus. The sandwiches are very fresh. Delicious as well! The cookies look very good too & next time I will add that & even a packaged brownie to our order. I never knew this location existed until we took a trip to the Queen of Heaven Cemetery. My Husband & I wanted to eat lunch first. We were shocked to find out Alpine is in Westchester for 7 years!! Way better than Subway, but that's not saying much, right?. I ordered a 6" turkey sub with "everything" on it and "everything" wasn't much. The sandwich was thin on meat, cheese and lacking of produce. The ingredients were good, along with the fresh bread, however it just didn't seem all that hearty (I was hungry a few hours later.) I'm going out on a limb with 5 stars. We got 3 subs- the Alpine, the American, and a veggie. My daughters loved the American and the Veggie but I cant comment because I didn't try them. The Alpine- let me say this was an insanely delicious sandwich. The bread was super fresh and had a nice crust. Whatever is in the oil/ vinegar dressing is magical. Everything clicked. The meat is where I have a slight issue. Its not the flavor or quality which was first rate. The marriage of flavors on the entire sandwich was near perfect. However, as good as it is, the amount of meat is on the sandwich is on the low side. I say this after singing their praises and I will definitely be back. But, if you're looking for a huge amount of deli meat this is not going to work for you. If you're looking for a perfectly balanced and flavorful Italian sub, you cant go wrong. read more
