This is a must. Especially with a little snow on the ground.

This was our second stop after arriving in Big Bear and honestly, it was a blast. We arrived around 10:30am and waited about 15 minutes to turn into the parking lot. Parking was free when we got there (Monday) First stop is the kiosk (not tickets!) where you sign a waiver. They'll give you a little zip tie to show you're cleared for rides. After that, you buy tickets per ride and line up for whatever you want to do. You will not be able to do anything without the zip tie. Total wait time for us with kiosk and for the ride was about 2 hours, but it flew by. Parents waited in line for the coaster while kids played in the snow or hopped into shorter ride lines, smart setup. If you get the blonde coaster attendant, consider yourself lucky. She's stern but fair and keeps things from getting chaotic. Big Bear celebrity status, honestly. As you can see on the other reviews haha part of the experience. Heads up: the food area was messy and the restroom was out of toilet paper (crowds + kids = chaos). Come prepared and lower expectations there. That said, the wait was 100% worth it. My daughter loved it and we'll definitely be back. Another family recommended the night snow tubing, saying it's less crowded. Coaster rides are about $20, and bring quarters for lockers or leave your stuff in the car. Also, the tubing hill here is way more fun than the others in town. Fun, busy, chaotic, but totally worth it.

As tourists in Big Bear, we were a little sad there wasn't much natural snow to sled on but we were happy to see Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain, the park saved the day! We rolled in early (highly recommend!) and skipped the long lines. Yes, most rides are priced separately, which was a surprise, but honestly... we still had a great time. The kids loved sledding on the man-made snow, and their laughter made it worth every penny. We hopped on the other rides too, and they were just FUN! We didn't try the food, but they do sell snacks and meals. Outside food isn't allowed, but since the park is open, you can easily walk back to your car--parking is super easy and close, which was a big plus. Overall, such a fun family stop! If you're looking for something exciting to do in Big Bear, this place definitely brings the energy.

Visited Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain and did the coaster such a blast! It goes surprisingly fast, but you're in full control of the brakes, which makes it exciting and fun. The views going up and down are absolutely beautiful, so you really get to enjoy the scenery while riding. They also have several other activities to do, which is great if you're spending the day there. Just note there isn't a bundle for all rides it's pay-as-you-go for each activity. Overall, a super fun experience and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

What We Played: -Single Ride Ticket $20 -Child Ride Ticket $10 -Mini Golf (Child) $8 -Mini Golf (Adult) $9 The Mine Shaft Coaster was a lot of fun and quite exhilarating! As a larger guy, I felt like I was flying down the track. I didn't feel unsafe, although I may have used the brakes a time or two. The mini golf was your typical course, with a few interesting holes, but most were pretty average. We couldn't find a scorecard, but we took scores on our phones. We had a friendly wager between siblings and spouses, which made it all the more enjoyable! We really enjoyed playing here, and the price is unbeatable. The staff is incredibly helpful. One employee even went out of their way to help us by giving us a penny for the machine when we were short. I was so grateful for their kindness! We will definitely be back when we're in Big Bear again.

I am giving this 5 stars because of the mineshaft coaster. That was a blast! Totally worth the $20 a person to ride. It was the perfect weather too during the summer because it was cloudy and rained a little. The staff are very friendly and parking lot is spacious. Perfect location on the way into Big Bear too. There's mini golf, go karts, water slides, soaring eagle ride, alpine slide, and a mineshaft coaster. You sign the waivers first then head on the rides. The coaster goes really fast especially on the second half of the ride. You can ride with 2 if total weight is under 370 too. Solo ride is the way to go though. It started raining on the chair life to the alpine slide which was nice actually. They cautioned to go slower since it was wet which I think took from the experience for me. It was cool to say I did it but the coaster is where it's at. Didn't try the other activities but I had a wonderful time. Will definitely come back!

This was a great experience. Expect to wait long. If you start waiting in line towards the back where they check you in, make sure to go grab your ticket at the front of the establishment before walking into the building. I think it was fun. However extremely cold when I went in January. WEAR GLOVES. I didn't and my hands were frozen. Also I don't think I could reach the handles very well with my big jacket on. Great roller coaster though I want to go back when it's not as cold

Organized. Costly if you put together all the activities. But, it's worth it! You can just select what suits your family. Tubing was great and good for all ages. 3-2-2025

. The lady at the kiosk waivers was very nice , no issue there. But as soon as we got to the payment section . The lady was incredibly rude and angry . She definitely put a dampened our experience especially since she did not have any people skills . There many signs everywhere but it still didn't really point to the correct area . The coaster was ok . Not worth the price for one ride but our kids still enjoyed themselves .

    Katrina H.

This was a fun experience for a group of girls! We loved the Alpine Slide and the little ski lift up to it was my favorite part! Listen: it is not an organized park like Disneyland, but it also was not very expensive. The rides are all separate charges and you do have to sign a waiver first. But if you know what you're getting into, it's awesome.

Ask the Community - Alpine Slide At Magic Mountain

    Any activities for toddlers?

For Snow Play, Alpine Slide, and Go-Karts, children must be a minimum of 36" tall. Anyone below that is too small to participate.

Will "Snow Play" still be available in April?

    Is this place dog friendly?

    I wouldn’t say so

How long do people usually spend here?

You could easily spend half of the day here. It's really fun but depends on how much energy you have. There's a conveyor that helps but the air is thinner and cold so you can get winded fast. I say budget to stay at least two hours.

Are they open when it's actively snowing?

Does the slide operate when there's a snow storm?

Alpine slide- no Coaster- mostly no if track is clear and not icey.

Do they have lockers for our belongings? Can we bring our pet?…

They have lockers but tiny ones. You can open them to see if your belongings fit before purchasing them to rent out. They do allow animals (mostly just dogs) (must be leashed and must be friendly) but cannot go on the rides with you and must be left…

How long is the actual slide?

It depends how fast you go since you control the speed with your lever. If you decide to go fast, I'd say it's about a 5 minute ride.

Is this place a stroller friendly?

    Yes

Does everyone pay or only if you're riding?

It's free to come in and sit down on their benches and watch everyone, but if you want to go tubing or ride on any of their rides then you'll need to pay.

Do they make snow during the winter (like in December) if there's no snow?

Yes we make snow when it is cold enough. We are open daily in December.

Does the chair lift have a weight limit? Does the alpine slide have a weight limit?

DO NOT GO HERE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. Please look up their reviews. I went here with my family last winter. My 10 year old was badly injured. They didnt care. Just told us they would refund our money. Stay away.

Is there an area for smaller kids/toddlers to play in? Or is there a slower lane for adults with toddlers?

In the Snow Play area (tubing) we have a kiddy area for the smaller kids to ride down and play in the snow.

Is the Alpine slides slow if you weight a certain size because I'm planning a trip and I wouldn't mind paying 5rides if it's go a certain speed?

You control your speed on the ride down. Make sure to be safe if this is your first ride

Parking is free, and there are plenty of spaces when their isn't other events or services going on at the same location. My first visit was for a family kid's birthday party, and we were all pleasantly surprised. The party itself was organized well and had its own area inside one of the buildings. We had our own area decorated (you can bring your own decorations, too), and the food was fantastic for amusement park food. We had pizza, turkey sandwiches, chicken tenders, soda, and punch. We had about an hour for lunch before being released to enjoy the rest of the park. Many of the staff were kind during the party and throughout the park and made the experience that much nicer. The variety of rides here will please most young kids and adults. There are a couple of roller coasters, a carousel, a train that circles once around the park, and many more rides. I'm surprised how much they fit into the park space. There is also an arcade and a petting zoo. For food in the park, you have the standard burgers, pizza, tenders, pretzels, churros, ICEE, ice cream, and more. The prices aren't too bad either. Plenty of snacks and merch to purchase, too. There are also plenty of places to sit and relax, with shaded areas. Especially needed during a warm SoCal day. It was the first time for many guests in our party, and everyone enjoyed the experience. Many of the kids want to go back and have their birthday parties here next year, too.

When we entered the park, we double checked with everyone if there are rides open for his height and we were told there were plenty. Especially for the bumper car because that's what he's really looking forward to first time at an amusement park. So we spent $100+ to get in. When we got bumper car place, there were people in there already playing. We were the only one waiting there, and i asked that staff lady if my son was tall enough to ride the car. She glanced at me and yelled, 'I'll check later'. Even when the ruler was hided next to her, even when there's no one else in the line, even when she's doing nothing just standing there looking at the adults driving bumper cars... she just had us waited and got my son hope so high. When their turn was done, she slowly pushed the car to the side, took out the ruler behind her stand and told us oh he's not tall enough. I held it in, and asked politely if my son can sit at the passenger seat and I'll drive since there were seat belts. She said no way. Only because my 4 years old was so excited to get in there, I tried again, asking ' There's no one here yet, you don't need to turn on the machine, can he just sit on it and feel the bumper car for one minute?' Again, she said 'no way'. We understand you may have a rule to follow, but you could have tell us the second we ask you if we our height meet your requirement instead of getting a kid's expectations so high, letting him watch others playing and having fun, then turn him down while you are not even doing anything except watching bunch white adults riding the bumper car. Castle park could have a ruler showing at front saying below 42" are not gonna have any rides, instead, they charge full price for kids over 36" while have nothing preparing for them. Our first amusement park experience leaving with tears and upset, my son was crying he said 'I waited. Why can't I play bumper car?' I told him, 'sorry baby, to make sure you are safe, you need to be tall enough to ride that.' And he cried, 'but I waited...'

I have visited this zoo before and remembered it as a place where animals had more natural environments and where visitors could learn about wildlife and conservation. Unfortunately, this visit was a completely different experience. During our visit, we saw a pigeon with what appeared to be a broken wing, as well as a dead bird inside one of the exhibits. A group of us immediately flagged down a staff member to report what we had seen. Rather than showing concern, she seemed visibly annoyed that we had interrupted them while they were driving a golf cart. After I explained the situation, she rolled her eyes, said she would "let someone know," and drove away. For an organization that places such a strong emphasis on animal conservation and welfare, the lack of urgency and compassion we encountered from staff was incredibly disappointing. I sincerely hope this experience was an exception rather than the standard, but it left us with a very negative impression.

It's a cute little place for kids with a lazy river, three slides, a toddler area, and a wave area. I was excited to find somewhere that was a little more convenient and purchased 3 season passes. Unfortunately, we were only able to use the passes twice. When I originally asked the girls working at the front desk about the schedule, I was told that the park would be open Monday through Friday through the end of August. Based on that information, I felt comfortable purchasing the season passes because I knew my other kids would be coming back from vacation and we would have plenty of opportunities to use them. That ended up not being the case. The park was closed multiple times for private events, and then the schedule changed. I eventually called to check whether they were open and got a voicemail saying that they would now only be open on weekends until Labor Day. I emailed the park because I was disappointed and explained the situation. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like they were very helpful. I was basically told that the calendar had been posted since the beginning of summer and that it was my responsibility to check it. The problem is, I didn't even know there was a calendar to check. I was given information directly by the employees at the front desk that the park would be open Monday through Friday through the end of August. If someone had told me, "Our schedule can change, so please check our online calendar before purchasing," I absolutely would have done that. In fact, if I had known the actual schedule, I probably wouldn't have purchased the season passes in the first place. Because of the closures, private events, and schedule changes, I was only able to use my pass twice and couldn't use it when my other kids returned from vacation, which was the whole reason I purchased the passes. I think it's a cute little water park and could be a fun option for younger kids, especially if you're looking for something smaller than the big water parks. But unfortunately, the way this was handled left a really bad taste in my mouth. I completely understand that schedules can change and private events happen. What I don't think is fair is telling customers one thing when they're purchasing passes and then essentially telling them afterward that they should have known to check a calendar they weren't aware existed. I'm sure three season passes aren't going to make or break the business, but as a customer, I definitely feel like I got screwed over for simply trusting the information I was given by the employees.
