Al's towing violated several Washington State RCW's regarding towing fees, storage fees and in fact, their credit card service fee is also illegal as the towing industry is prohibited from charging credit card service fees. After having a flat in a precarious location, I contacted Al's Towing. Grace was efficient, confirmed my location, and sent a driver to help. The driver was very concerned about my physical safety, and then loaded my vehicle, and took it to my apartment complex. Because of the logistics, some damage happened to a mirror, and the driver gave me a card to call to arrange repair. Al called me before I could contact him. He made sure I was able to get into a local auto glass repair shop, paying for the damages. Through several phone calls back and forth to Al, it was handled with such professionalism. My idiot apartment manager had my vehicle towed from my assigned space in front of my apartment, less than 2 full hours after putting one of those impossible to remove neon warning stickers on the window. Her reasoning was that the registration was expired, when in fact, it was not, I just forgot to put this year's tabs on the plate. I was gone for several days, and when I got home, my truck was gone. My neighbors across the hall said they'd seen the property manager going around slapping tow stickers on any car that had expired tabs, missing front plates, or had obviously not been driven in a while (leaves/debris buildup underneath, dusty windshield, one or more flat tires, etc) around 10am. The tow trucks started rolling in about an hour later. Usually those stickers have a 48 hour window to get within compliance before they actually haul your car off, unless you're actively blocking a fire lane, or are parked in a space where you are not authorized to do so. Neither of those situations apply in this situation. It was MY CAR, in MY DESIGNATED SPACE. One that tacks an extra $150 onto my rent every month. Infuriating. By the time I returned home and saw my car was gone, I'd been charged $600+ for storage and impound fees. Here's the kicker: IT ISNT EVEN WORTH THAT MUCH! It is a mid 80's beater Datsun pickup. But, it is my primary means of conveyance, and I'd be hard pressed to find a running, drivable vehicle for the same price as it would cost to get my truck back, especially these days.... Long story short, after I spoke to the owner, they cut me a huge discount, and even towed it back to my apartment for me at no charge, because after dealing with the situation, I was running late for work and needed to scoot before my absence at work was noticed. Not the best way to spend a Monday morning, or the best way to spend half of my paycheck, but overall, these guys are just doing the job they've been contracted to perform.... My apartment manager is the one who deserves a bad review lol. read more

My son recently had his car stolen and it ended up getting towed to Al's towing in Federal Way, WA. Right from the moment we stepped into the office, the owner was rude, arrogant and condescending. He let us know that he holds all the cards and we had better get on our knees and kiss his a#$. What is even more disgusting is that many people who find themselves having to deal with this business are themselves victims like my son of car theft. Then they get this inhumane treatment from some guy that gives off this attitude. If you're unfortunate enough to have to deal with this business, I feel for you. Be prepared to be treated like dirt. My brother-in-law had his car stolen early this morning in Tacoma. Police called in Federal Way. They found his car at Celebration park. The car was held at Al's towing. We went this evening to pick up the car. We waited about two hours at Al's to get the car. His sister tried to pay the fee with her credit card. The man stated that the card needed to be from the car owner. He doesn't have a credit card, therefore we had to pay cash. Never have I been anywhere where I couldn't use my card to pay for a friend as long as the card is valid. This guy is a crook and I'm pretty sure he just wanted cash! A friend of mine had his car stolen from the front of his apartment yesterday. Somehow the car was recovered all the way in Federal Way, and landed at Al's Towing & RV. My friend just went to get his car, and the battery was dead. Not only did they want to charge him $400 to pick his stolen car, but they wanted to charge an ADDITIONAL $25 just to jump the damn car! I am blown away to see how my friend was treated... especially considering it's during a pandemic where money is tight for everyone. Where is the humanity?? I am thoroughly disappointed to see how Al's Towing does business, and to charge someone to simply JUMP a vehicle... it takes 20 seconds time and doesn't cost AL anything. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone if it was the last place on earth. Nobody wants to spend money at a place that treats people this way. Hopefully this review helps someone that's considering using them, and they make the very smart choice to go ELSEWHERE. I am thoroughly disgusted. My car was towed here after a collision, and while looking up contact info, I read all the negative comments and was prepared to do battle when I went to pick up my belongings. i am here to tell you that my experience was the total opposite from what I had read. yThe Kacy at the front counter greeted me as soon as I walked in, was extremely pleasant and called someone to immediately meet me at the gate to retrieve my things. The gentlemen that met me was exact same way..nothing but pleasant. i will also add that after the accident, the driver gave me a ride into Federal Way so I could meet my wife who was coming to get me. He made sure that I wasnt going to be stranded before dropping me off. Then after discovering that I had left some important items in his truck, he secured them until I could retrieve them. These were very important financial items, and so I always thank him for his honesty. Don't believe everything you read and don't act like a dick and you will be treated just fine. I walked in after another woman as soon as they opened at 8am, 15 min later he asks me to step outside so he can let her out to get her car. Had my classic Ford truck towed to a shop in Federal Way for motor work. I asked when I called for service if they were familiar with classic cars. My truck has a low stance so flatbed service was sent. When the driver arrived, I was asked if I could drive it on to the truck (strange since I asked for a tow). I had to suggest where to strap it down from the front (and attach the hooks myself). The rear had one hook attached to a leaf spring shackle (not a good place in my opinion) while the other was attached to the axle. I expected the tow truck driver to at least lay down and look underneath for a good attach point. Once it arrived at the repair shop, I was put in the middle of a disagreement between the shop manager and the driver as to who was going to get it off the truck as he couldn't lower it due to me driving it on! I agreed to take the liability of backing it off myself while the driver was operating the roll back. Not a good experience all the way around. read more

Ok, it takes a lot for me to actually give a one star review but when you charge me $150 plus tax for NOT jump starting my truck and it is your fault I get a little put out. I drive a Semi truck and the batteries were totally dead. The jumper cables were a very long with a very small gauge and could not transfer very much energy. The driver kept asking me to "try it" I should have said no but it never had enough time to actually charge before we wasted what had been done. After an hour he said he was done. I said "you are leaving"? He said, "what do want to do"? My reply was "In this situation, I would call a TOWING COMPANY" The guy sat in his truck doing nothing for $150 dollars. Dispatch are liars telling you that they will be there in 10 minutes when they show up finally two hours later with no phone call no notice. And then the loser driver couldn't care less that he's late. Not only that, they sent a truck not equipped to handle my vehicle even though I told them clearly what the circumstances were and they supposedly checked to make sure they could accommodate. For a business that has been operating since 1987, isn't it strange that they only have 1 positive review? You'd think by now they would have had 100s of reviews. Something doesn't add up... It is never pleasant to have your car towed unexpectedly or involuntarily. I had one of those experiences when my car got towed by a retail parking lot. In trying to track down my car, I spoke on the phone with a rude and irrational person who doesn't know the first thing about customer service - I'm guessing I was speaking to the owner since it was after hours. I got a runaround about where I want to pick up the car when in the end my only option was to pick it up at the company's storage yard (but I was told to "read the sign yourself" when I asked for the address). He then put me on hold for 10 minutes after which he hung up on me. I waited a minute to see if he would call me back, but no, I had to call him back. I got charged an exorbitant amount of money, because the person did not care to divulge that I could have come back for my car the next day for a lower fee. If you're charging me $395 to tow my car 6 blocks, I expect better customer service. The only redeeming factor is the guy who came to the shop to basically sell me back my car, as he was friendly (not the person I spoke with on the phone); he told me they were obligated by law to inform me that I could contest my towing or charge, but he also photocopied my personal information and my driver's license. I didn't feel good about that at all, as I didn't know the purpose of them having this information or if it would even be secured or destroyed appropriately. That wasn't my first experience with this storied establishment, however. The first time, I actually did need a tow to get two flat tires replaced. Al's towing was dispatched by AAA. I was given an ETA of less than an hour; I decided to head into work after having my car picked up. I kept waiting and waiting. 1 hour later, I call to check in and I'm told the tow truck is on its way. I wait another hour and am told the same thing. Finally, nearly 3 hours later, the tow truck shows up, but the driver doesn't know how to properly load my car without my front bumper scraping across the ground. I was extremely late to work to boot. I would not voluntarily hire this towing company and give my hard-earned money to such a rude, disrespectful person. This was my experience and opinion only, and I can only hope that other customers have a much better experience than I did. read more

I was in a car accident and Al's towing had to tow the car away. I was shaken and left my GPS and Electronic Cigarette in the car. When my grandmother and uncle went to get this stuff back it was missing. I then called to ask if they possibly took these items out or know what could have happened to them, the man on the phone said that they do not enter the vehicles. I then stated that letting 200$+ in items get stolen from a customers vehicle is not a good business practice and suggested upgrading security, at witch point he simply asked if I was "done yet" and hung up. I do not know if one of their employees took it or if it was a break in but it's not good either way and the unapologetic rudeness was no help. read more
