Incompetent, ineffective and predatory. These technicians showed up on rainy days to spray their product only to have it washed away same day. This has happened 3 out of the last 4 bi-annual service visits, and I still have bugs around my house. To their credit, they say they come back out but you have to manage it by calling them (so two stars!). Hopefully you reach them by phone because text message isn't enough for them. And cancelling your account requires a phone call -- there's no way to cancel on their online portal, an email is not good enough, a text is not good enough. Our service with Alta Pest Control started with pressure sales tactics and what turned out to be misleading promises from James Villanueva. We were told we would save money switching from Romex, and he kept saying things like, "Don't you want to save money? Don't you trust me?" Looking back, we definitely should have trusted our gut. Once everything was set up, we realized we were actually paying about $40 more a month than we had been with Romex. To be fair, Romex wasn't terrible -- the main issue was their random service times and days. James then gave us a sob story about supporting his grandma and four siblings, and because Alta also included mosquito treatments (which we weren't getting before), we decided to stick it out. Over the year we were with Alta, the service was mostly disappointing. One technician questioned me and didn't even want to treat the inside without "proof" of the problem. The last technician we had for our final two services was actually great -- he laughed when I showed him the spiders because it was that obvious and immediately handled it professionally. Unfortunately, customer service was no help. I called several times, and all they would do was schedule another visit. Meanwhile, there would still be spider webs left up and the work felt like the absolute bare minimum every time. What really pushed me to write this review was having another Alta salesman come by recently trying to sell to my neighbors. I told him about my experience, and his response was, "Well, I'm going on a cruise with James next week -- I'll tell him you said hi." So yes, please be careful, especially with the sales reps. This all happened after the 3rd visit when they "inspected" my attic. The tech came down and told me I have lots of rats. *First things first, this company is based off Austin which means that if you live outside of the Austin area you will have to wait up to two weeks before they even show up.* A guy came to my door soliciting about the company and he provided all the details with the exception of the timeframe it would take for a tech to come to my home. The price was decent considering the size of the house. While their initial application worked and the black ants stopped showing up in the house the outcomes after that were pretty annoying because I had to constantly call them to have someone come out but of course it would take 2 weeks which is a bad timeframe specially if you had a major problem which either way you'd have to wait for the 2 weeks. Had I known that it would take 2 weeks to get a tech out here I would've never chosen this company. Alta Pest Control seems to think that vague contract language means they can do and bill whatever and whenever they want. IT IS NOT LEGAL FOR YOU TO PERFORM A SERVICE ON MY PROPERTY WITHOUT MY CONSENT. You are only authorized access during schedule services. You are bound lawfully to provide reasonable notice of an appointment. 5 minutes is not reasonable notice. Reasonable notice is 24-48 hours. You cannot just decide to move my appointment up by 2 weeks without notifying me. It breaches our contract and its unlawful. I called to complain about the completely unauthorized service and was told policy states they can just move it up two weeks. Our contract trumps your "policy". It's not in our contract. You're not allowed to do that. This business only exists to take advantage of its customers. You are opening yourselves up to lawsuits. You are criminally trespassing. And your solution is to offer me a 20 dollar discount on your unauthorized trespassing service. Ridiculous. This business needs to be shut down. read more

I signed up for Alta's pest control service to handle basic bug spraying. After a couple of months, the company sent an inspector to check my attic. The inspector claimed to have "found rats" and immediately tried to sell me an additional contract for rodent removal costing $14,000. I was shocked by the price and decided to get a second opinion. The other pest control company performed a brief inspection and confirmed there were no signs of rats. They also told me that, even if there had been, a $14,000 fee was completely unreasonable for a home of my size. This made me feel misled and taken advantage of. I called Alta to express my concerns. While they apologized, I no longer trusted them and requested to cancel my service. Alta refused to cancel my account unless I paid a cancellation fee, which I believe is unfair given their questionable sales practices and false diagnosis. I am filing this complaint because Alta's conduct feels deceptive and unethical. I have used their pest control service for over a year. On multiple occasions I have asked for them to perform the fire ant control service that I have paid for. On 10/7/2024 they were to send a technician who is specialized in fire ant treatment. Without notice he canceled reporting he could not find my home. He is not the first technician who is unable to use a GPS. I have had many services without any problems. This was the last straw. I cancelled my contract. I cannot recommend this company. read more

Bluntly, as a skeptic myself, I'm genuinely surprised by the negative reviews here. Alta has been phenomenal at keeping my house bug and pest free overall at very competitive market rates on a month to month contract. I'm not sure where other folks might have paid extra for indoor service, they've always given that to me as a courtesy. I 100% recommend them (and my day to day working life is to be a critic). It's absolutely like finding a Sasquatch riding a unicorn to have a company that doesn't overcharge and goes the extra mile to ensure that someone like me (clueless bachelor) doesn't end up paying insane amounts of money, or even worse incurring thousands of dollars of damages due to vermin ruining major crucial systems. My most recent tale and most recent reason I recommend them whole-heartedly starts with a free inspection they did that proactively caught a nasty rat incursion in my attic (if only Watership Down was real life). They absolutely could have talked me into completely replacing my insulation in my attic (looking at you, a certain alphabet named pest control company and HomeTeam that forgot to install an entire system). Both the inspector and technician went the extra mile to recommend what they felt I needed and what served my health (yay allergies) and home best. It says a lot about a company when they match the service to meet the needs of the client and they hire the kind of people that will matchmake you correctly. One last thing I really appreciate about them is as someone who works at home, they're always courteous about my working hours and very flexible around scheduling (C'mon folks, who here is sick of the companies that give you an arrival "window" that's longer than a full working day?) read more

Our family has been clients of Alta for the past year. They show up, explain their reason for being here, knock down the nest and spray the grass as they should. The service has been pretty consistent when I encounter them. As far as value, my spouse covers the cost because I feel it could be valued at a better price. However, the pest are not as visible so that is a positive. During my recent encounter, Stephanie was our tech and she provided amazing service as requested. BEWARE OF ATLA PEST CONTROL! We were customers of Ardent Pest Control for over 5 years. Five or six months back, it was taken over by Alta Pest Control. Since then, it has been nothing but a disappointment. I was supposed to have an appointment on May 27. Their technician was unavailable, so it was rescheduled for June 6. The evening before, they changed the time to one that was inconvenient. I spoke with them the next morning and it was rescheduled for June 16. The evening before the 16th, I received a notice that the time was changed for the next day's service. I wasn't going to be home, so I called to again reschedule. I told the woman on who answered the phone that I didn't appreciate being notified of changes the night before and that the change would not work. She spent roughly 10 minutes trying to reschedule and I finally told her to forget it - that I would call on Monday to either reschedule or cancel my service. On Saturday, when we were not home, I got a computer call saying their technician would be in the area. I had already told them I would call on Monday, so I hung up. At around 3:00 pm, the technician showed up at my door. We tried to speak with him via the Ring doorbell, but he apparently didn't hear us. About an hour later, I got an email saying that the service was conducted. The problem is, the back gate was locked, so nearly half of the house did NOT get service. I called this morning, and demanded a refund since the service was incomplete and was not authorized. Basically, they called me a liar because the technician didn't put it in his notes that he couldn't get in the gate. They refused to refund the money. I asked to speak with a manager, but the lady on the telephone said the manager refused. I've deleted all my information from the account. Sorry this is long, but I wanted everyone to know that Alta Pest Control behaves dishonestly, will take your money for services NOT rendered, and then lie about it. As I said. . . After months and months of numerous appointments (6), and endless phone calls with multiple representatives and the regional manager, promising it will get done, I still have not received the garage seal I paid for in NOVEMBER in order to have my home fully rodent-proofed. The fogged outside for flies and mosquitoes, killed 2 of my trees and I still have flies, ants, scorpions, spiders. Tried to cancel the agreement and they want to charge me $ 400 to do so. However, it turned out the contract included quarterly indoor service, which I never requested and was never done, and the fee was $99/mo even when no service was done. Do not use them they forced my wife to say yes after saying no multiple times and having to fight 3 kids and a puppy from running out the door. The sales rep offered 50 bucks towards the first time and sent my wife the money and they come out the next day and she used the 50 she was given to do the service like she was told to do by the rep and they also left our gate wide up and my 8 week bloodhound took off because of their incompetence to close a gate.
