I have just cancelled my service with Alta Pest Control. After noticing they had raised their rates by $60.00 by going from quarterly billing to monthly billing, and not have received any notice of the change, that was the last straw. Their mosquito summer spraying was ineffective, and it appeared to me the service technicians tried to get by with as little "service" as possible. If I didn't have to select a rating, I wouldn't. This company is poorly managed, the services provided are a joke and they are dishonest. The dishonesty is what has caused the poor of the poorest rating this company could possibly receive. According to Alta, I was unable to close an account, because I don't have and account. To make a long story short, my name was sent to a collection agency because I hadn't paid $103.82. I received 2 notices from 'Kinum' located at 770 Lynnhaven Pkwy, Suite 160, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Neither one of these notifications has an account number on the statement. When I tried to contact them, I heard a recorded message, directing me to contact the complainer. How can my name be sent to a collection agency if I don't have an account? This is the response from Alta, I can transfer you to a supervisor(Devon) to get this sorted out. This is out of my realm. Holden did a very good job on my pest control, he asked about any issues in or outside my home with pests. He went over these issues before attending to the service and came back to make sure I was happy with the service before leaving the premises. I signed up with this company and yes there are hidden fees.... They schedule appointments and they don't show up and if they show up they don't knock the door to spray the inside when the inside is what needs to be sprayed not the outside and after they send you an email that includes an option to tip the person that came out. The office won't answer most of the time for current clients but when you press the button for new clients they do answer most of the time. I was scheduled for someone to come out last week and this is the 3rd time for no show no call. They ass for $299 early termination fee!! This is ridiculous with the service they provide. I recently switched service companies and signed a one year contract. This contract includes quarterly home service and mosquito service for 6 months. I was informed that if I ever encountered any problems just to call and the service company would be rescheduled for a retreatment service. Well let me tell you that here in Texas we are in the South. And in the South mosquitoes don't give a hoot about the calendar. I received a mosquito treatment on October 20 and shortly thereafter we received abundant rainfall. Well lo and behold, guess what? Yes you guessed it, mosquitoes reappeared. So today is November 6 (less than 30 days since treatment) and I call for a re-treatment but the service company says they have put away their equipment for the year (on November 1) and I am just out of luck. Now if I had called on or before October 31 (when it was still raining) they could have helped me, but since I called now, when I am actually encountering mosquitoes, Nope. This is exactly the kind of arbitrary policy enforcement that drives me crazy. As I stated before, mosquitoes don't work on a calendar. Salesfolk were actually very good and the initial service was excellent. Unfortunately I thought this was the way it was going to be, and the next Tech showed up unannounced, I was in the back yard with a contractor and the Alta Tech didn't take the time to greet me and by the time I went to the front yard he said he was done and on his way out. I don't even think the back of the house got done. So I called Alta and explained and I was told a Tech would be out to do a reservice. Before that happened a quality control Rep showed up and did the reservice himself, addressing all my concerns. Reservice Tech appeared a couple days later unaware of the Quality control Rep. Nothing for the Reservice guy to do after assuring me all was good. If and when you sign up be prepared for a lot of text messages/Ads and the Reps will not show up on a consistent date or time, but the monthly bill is like clockwork. With that and not wanting to worry about the poor quality Techs that might do the service I decided to cancel the subscription. The phone Rep told me I would have to pay for the $310 discount I was given when I signed up (that wasn't going to happen), then knocked it down to $155 and reduced that to $112 after I mentioned the last monthly charge. I thought twice about paying that but since I signed up for the service, kinda made my own bed. If Alta ever wanted my business back that $112 would have been waived. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! One of their young men returned to our gated community for several days after repeatedly being asked to leave. There is a NO SOLICITING sign that he said he saw, but said that he didn't have to obey it. He refused to leave. He said he didn't care if it was hurting the company business. This company is such a scam. They are friendly when you sign up (what company isn't) however they do not make their pricing clear. It ended costing more per month than what I was told. They do service your property regularly however they always show up at a different time than they are scheduled because "they are in the area." EVERY SINGLE VISIT. This is not helpful should you want to point out a specific problem area or concern. Fast forward to when I needed to stop service, you are transferred to four different people, put on hold, and have to verbally tell someone, messages are not allowed that you want to discontinue service after they try to hard sell you three more times. In addition, I still received a bill as if I didn't cancel service months later, called to get it cleared up, received calls about a late bill, etc. They assured me it was cleared up, only to receive a bill in the mail AGAIN. Worst Pest Control Company I'v ever worked with. They have hidden fees in their contract they don't tell you about. Further, when I asked "What happens if I move?" they told me inaccurate information. Finally, when I did move (and they didn't service the area where I moved) they charged me an "early termination" penalty. Again, I would never do business with this company again. read more

Elderly/disabled BEWARE of sales tactics. The company's rep came by my relative's house, he's elderly and visibly disabled. They managed to sell a service contract and get the debit card and charged a considerable amount for about 15 minutes of walking around and spot spraying. They had already done this last year, and I called to complain and ask them not to go by again. However, they did it again, seeing an easy target! We immediately called the company, but the Account Manager Meagan and Refund Manager Destiny refused to issue a refund. Founders Michael and Chris Langlois proudly state on their website that they are focused on the customer and not the money, and if a problem can't be fixed they'll "gladly" issue a refund. I never sign up for things from a door to door salesman but the rep had to show up right as we were discussing needing pest control. The product sounded great and he reeled me in. First appointment I see the guy pull up and I'm watching so I know when I can let my dogs back out. The guy sat in his truck in front of my house for about 30 minutes talking on the phone and then left. Shortly after I got an email that my service was done to front yard but not back as the gate was locked. The gate wasn't locked and the guy never got out of his truck. My neighbor asked about the situation and said they had her signed up as well and she noticed the guy never got out of his truck. We discussed what happened and she called and told them to cancel her service since it hadn't started yet. The rep that signed me up received her call and then called me apologizing like crazy for what happened. He said he didn't want to lose two clients over a lazy tech and that tech likely won't have a job anymore. He said he'd have someone else come and actually service our home and that when the next monthly service came up, it would be free of charge. Well, that next service just came and I got an invoice. I emailed that we weren't supposed to be charged and received email back that we signed a contract so we will be charged. Few emails back and forth explaining that we had an issue and were supposed to get a free service. Short answer was too bad, you signed an agreement. Shady company. So sad I signed a contract from a door to door salesman for a company with no reviews. I never ever sign up for anything without research. Don't do the same as me. Who knows how many people paid for service of a guy who never left his vehicle but said he did. Rating based on solicitation that borders on harassment. Company rep came by twice in one day the second time at 7:30pm. First time rang our door bell multiple times and then knocked multiple times while pacing around back and forth on our front yard and porch. In our camera we saw him bending down poking around in our front landscaping. We have a sign clearly visible right above our door bell that says "No Soliciting". We didn't answer the door during the first barrage of rings and knocks because we are NOT INTERESTED. My husband called the company directly after the first attempt and told them this was unacceptable and to respect the fact that we want ZERO services being offered by D2D salesman (hence our sign). He was assured and told all the right things of course.... Only to have the guy come back later and do the same thing. The sales guy told my husband it's standard in their training to knock and ring doorbell multiple times and come back in the evening/night after the afternoon rounds regardless of no solicitation signs. This is 2022 and there are far more advantageous and less intrusive marketing/sales options. A good example would be to knock or ring doorbell once and if there's no answer the first time then leave your business card or pamphlet. If someone needs your services they will call. Can't believe I even have to say any of this but boundaries don't seem to be something this company respects so here we go with 3rd grade "how to respect people" lessons. read more
