We found this gem a little further down Main Street and I'm so glad we didn't waste our time waiting for a German restaurant elsewhere. We were seated immediately (11am Sunday) and our server soon brought Kolsch and Oktoberfest, the best we had in town, and my husband and I ordered these two beers everywhere we went. Workers here were kind and hospitable. They're super dog friendly as well. They let me and my dog eat outside in the patio. Had something good German soul food that won't disappoint. We went there this weekend our waitress was just so sweet and very attentive. She was the sweetest person and made sure we were in need of nothing. The food as always was fantastic. The Pretzel was incredible. Sorry to say the two female waitresses were horrible. I have never been treated with such bad attitudes. They were so unwelcoming and just plain obnoxious. 2 of us were greeted immediately on a Friday night. The staff was all friendly and welcoming like we were in their home the entire meal. We were inquisitive about the "Texmex" part of the name and menu so we wanted to check them out. Of course we are in Fredericksburg so we had to have German food, but they had tacos and amazing looking nachos on the menu. We got the pretzel (not gluten free, but worth it) for an appetizer and then we got the sausage sampler (gluten free minus the bread it came w). The pretzel was hot and moist and came w spicy mustard which my husband ate and he DOESNT eat mustard. It was delicious, we finished it all. The sampler had 3 sausage and two sides of your choice. We got the cabbage kraut and the cold potato salad. I liked the kraut...kind of pickly. My husband liked the potato salad, which is funny because it had mustard and relish and he doesn't eat either Drinks: Long Island ice tea and red wine from a vineyard nearby....both delicious and big sizes. Restrooms were both very clean. Women's had NO toilet paper and I tried to tell them, but at that time they were extremely busy and I couldn't get to the hostess. It was a nice walk from our AirBnB. It was a lovely evening so we ate a meal on the patio. Service was not stellar but just ok. Nice to listen to some live music while dining too. We both had the pork snitzel was just ok but not great. Truth is, we were disappointed. The portion was ample but It was supposed to come picatta style and had the chef used more of the lemon butter sauce it would perhaps have been great. My plate was dry and had just 2 capers. Serving it with potatoes rather than bland spatzel would have been an improvement also. But it was not over breaded and was very tender...just too dry. The Kraut was very good. The star of the night was the caprese salad! OMG the burrata cheese was locally made and delicious. My husband had the hatch chili soup which was great he said but too spicy for me. Having lived in Germany a year, I know you can get plenty of sauce or gravy on pork snitzel with potatoes so I am unsure why I am having trouble finding it here. This meal was not the worst but not the best thus far this trip. We are beginning to understand Fredericksburg is not a gastric experience but more a wine one (although their wines are too green or young to be great). a see my other reviews. We likely will try here again but will order the meatloaf(which we thought looked really good at a neighboring table) or the chicken snitzel ( which seems to come with more sauce and over potatoes). read more

We went here for lunch while visiting Fredericksburg because my boyfriend liked the looks of the Red Barron sandwich. The atmosphere is great! They have an outdoor patio and had live music as well as great dining room indoors. We sat inside to get a break from the heat. We ordered a couple of German beers and they were very good! I especially liked the Alt beer. We shared the Red Barron sandwich with warm German potato salad and were not disappointed! Sandwich was great and we added their homemade spicy mustard to it. The sauce on the two different schnitzels were the same brown, bland gravy with a smattering of mushrooms added to one and onions to the other. We went to this restaurant 2 times in 2 days. 1st time was great. Food and service was fantastic. The 2nd time we wanted a cold beer and dessert. We arrived at 745 pm. We were sat right away. When the waitress came she took our drink order. When she delivered the drinks she took our menus away? It was still not 8. When she went to the table beside us she told them kitchen was closed? They got up and left. We had to ask our waitress if we could order dessert. Then no silverware or napkins. While we were there we saw them turn down at least 5 parties. If you advertise your open until 9 you should honor the it. At least put a sign out. We saw a couple get out of a Uber only to get turned away. We had about an hour wait after being told 25 minutes and the hostess failed to inform us there was a bar where we could have been waiting BUT...once seated, the food was good, the patio was lovely and we enjoyed the wine and love music.
