Finally found the opportunity to drive to Alvin's cuisine as I have been haunted by the pics of their wontons. Boy, it did not disappoint. The shrimp wontons were delicious and definitely a highlight. My family thoroughly enjoyed it and I wished I ordered two dozen. My main course was amazing! That roast pork with the lo mein combo reminded me of the Chinese food in Trinidad. The roast pork and fries is a good combo of the daily special as well. The jerk chicken was also good but my least favorite. The garlic sauce though...chef's kiss. The food is made to order so there is a wait but the customer service was pleasant. This is a casual joint but there is space for dining inside. This was a distance to drive to. Hope I can return in the future. read more

The food was fresh and delicious. I only ordered the shrimp wontons. There was about 12 wontons with shrimp inside. It came with 3 sauces. Garlic sauce, ketchup and spicy sauce. I think it tastes the best with all 3 although the spicy sauce is actually quite spicy. The wonton was crunchy and fresh. The shrimp was a bit small. Their food prices are pretty standard. The environment was spacious. There weren't that many seating area for the amount of space there. I saw a catering menu for anyone interested. They also accept tap pay. I saw a few drink options although I didn't really try them. I might order some if I eat in. Since it's a Trinidadian and Chinese food mix, I'd definitely come back to try again next time. read more

I saw a review on Alvin's on IG so I finally checked them out . It's a Trini + Chinese food spot , so that alone made it interesting! The wait time wasn't long at all even Though it was packed. I ordered a few things. I ordered a peanut punch & it was very thick and good. For food I ordered the dressed wontons , those were my absolute fav . They put their special sauce over them & they're so good. Then I got the jerk chicken fries & want a treat . The sauce they put over it is so good . Rudest experience. Walked in at 3:40 pm. They close at 4. Told me next time to order online and she wasn't taking orders and went right back her personal conversation with someone. This trini gem is located in Pine Hills on west colonial drive. As a Trinidadian myself I was excited to try this place and it wasn't disappointed. I will say that if you are looking for traditional Caribbean cuisine (curries, stews, etc) this isn't the place you want to go to. This place is definitely trini chinese cuisine. I tried the shrimp wontons, jerk chicken fries and the Fried rice with Chinese chicken. All three items were bursting with flavor and I would try again. This restaurant is located in a strip mall off of Colonial in Orlando. There is ample parking and a few stores near by. When you enter there is usually music playing while you wait for your food as they're mainly a to-go or take-out restaurant. Their menu has everything from wontons to fried rice to bbq. They even have treats such as mango chow and Caribbean sodas and drinks like champagne kola. The food is definitely made with love because it translates through the dishes. The service provided is so warm, it gives you the feeling of being in a relative's home while hanging out and waiting for your meal. You ever had a food dream? Lemme tell you something, Shrimp wonton's from Alvin's gave my the most real food dreams ever. I went to bed one night imaging that I was devouring a dozen shrimp wontons. That's how good these are. Although I visit Orlando once a year, I always make it my business to stop here. Their Trinidadian style Chinese Food is the closest thing I've had to Trinidad & Tobago. Although they don't serve the classic roti/doubles and Pelau, their Chinese style menu is authentic to the Cantonese flavors you get on the island. This place is SO GOOD! As soon as I walked in, I noticed how clean the restaurant was. And the owner was very friendly and nice and greeted us right away. The order was ready in a good amount of time, about 20-25min. The restaurant specializes in Guyanese-Chinese food so I tried the Fried Shrimp Wontons, the Char Sui Kai Fan with Lomein, and the Veggie Fried Rice. The star of the show is definitely the Fried Shrimp Wontons with the Garlic Sauce. That garlic sauce is the best garlic sauce I've ever had and I'm sure it could make anything taste amazing. The Char Siu Lomein and Veggie Fried Rice were also very tasty, a bit on the sweeter side than what I'm used to, but still very good and the texture was spot on. I just added some of their pepper sauce to balance out the sweetness for me and add a little heat and it worked out perfectly. This is place is the ultimate cheat meal. If you're looking for a place to indulge and feel like you're getting home cooked food, this is the place to be. Probably one of the worst customer service. West Indian restaurants suck at that, so I'm not surprised. They close at 6, we called at 5 for a whole 20 minutes. No answer. My husband goes in the restaurant, the lady which is the owner says she's not taking no more orders. My husband mentioned he's been calling. She responds saying "she saw the call but ignored it cause they don't want to take orders"...... answer the phone and say that then. you close in a hour! Lazy people and shitty customer service. Now if you know anything about West indian food - there is a muslim way to cook it and a hindu way to cook it. This lady stopped serving something because it wasn't halal and she didn't want to upset her muslim customers....that tells me she is more concerned about doing the right thing rather than making the bucks! I was introduced to Alvins Cuisine sometime in 2013. I actually went to the restaurant to leave some promotional material. Then I ordered a Chinese style, chicken low mein & since then, I have become a regular customer. The chicken low mein & fried rice which are my favorite meals there, are the best I have ever eaten.
