Initially I thought moving back to the warehouse was going to mean zero options for lunch, but it actually ended up being an upgrade compared to the food desert I used to work in on the other side of Anaheim. Who knew this industrial area had my favorite type of restaurant? DINERS! My boss and I came in for lunch last week and I ordered a rodeo burger, and he got an Alea burger combo (with a salad). The rodeo burger is essentially the Western Burger from Carls Jr, but BIGGER and BETTER. And I would very much rather support a small local diner than some shitty ass corporate fast-food chain anyway. I came back in for lunch again today and since I rode my bike, I didn't really have time to go elsewhere. Not gonna lie, I really did consider getting another rodeo burger, but as a patty melt connoisseur, I had to see what theirs was like. Very solid patty melt. Gooey, cheesy, oniony. I was not particularly a fan of the type of bread they used though. I forget the name, but it has seeds in it with herbs. It had a great toast to it, but maybe a little too toasty as it was cutting up the roof of my mouth with every bite. Restaurant itself is pretty standard diner vibes. I like their spacious outdoor seating. Perfect for days when I take my bike with me. I don't plan on stopping in frequently, but they do have a lot to offer and so far, both trips have been great! read more

One of those typical restaurants that have hundreds of things on the menu, so thought to order an easy common food item - cheeseburger combo. It was a disappointment. Friday at 11:40am was busy but not overly crowded. Food was meh! Fries were barely warm, tasted cold towards bottom. Must have been sitting out or under the lamp. Cheeseburger didn't taste fresh, cheese wasn't even fully melted. Almost like microwaved burger. Very big location and tons of seating inside and outside with great patio protection. Lady was annoyed from the start. Got there right after 7 since they closed at 8. I get being there 30 minutes or closer to closing, but felt like it was a okay time to arrive. Not welcoming and the food tasted like it was reheated because they were ready to leave. Quality lil diner! We like coming here on our lunch break since the service is always quick and super friendly, and the food is reliably good. The family who owns Alea is so sweet. We usually sit outside on their spacious patio, and they bring the food out to us. I have to specifically shout-out their grilled cheese, which is just, like... the perfect diner grilled cheese. It's got THE MOST buttery bread I've ever had, which isn't everyone's cup of tea (the whole sandwich is literally moist with butter) and it can be a little rich, but that's diner food! It really hits the spot. They also have great fries here, give you plenty of sauces on the side for no extra charge, and also have that exact perfect balance of water to soda in their soda dispenser, so their Dr Pepper is some of the best I've ever had. I have been ordering Chicken Caesar salad, for almost two years, from Alea's cafe. But the last two orders have been a complete disappointment. I'm not sure what changed, but the dressing has been a lot more runny and the mayonnaise taste over powers the whole meal. The greens taste like it's been sitting on water the whole time and the quantity was much more. This is definitely not the original recipe. $14.00 salad no longer worth it. read more

I love cheeseburgers with that char broiled taste and have been disappointed numerous times by places drowning the burger with dressing or other toppings. I had high hopes for Alea given I read several reviews raving about their burgers and specifically remarking about the char taste. Well I ordered a double cheeseburger with light thousand only. I was surprised that only about 2 minutes after sitting down I was served my burger. I immediately thought how was this possible and suspected I would be disappointed. Well the first thing I noticed was the grease all over the wrapping and on top of the bun. How do you get grease on top of the bun? I absolutely hate soggy bread so I removed part of the top bun. I then noticed that the cheese wasnt melted, another strike. Even though the meat did have grill marks there was no char broiled taste at all. Maybe a one off given all the other good reviews but I hope the owner tells the cooks to take greater care in preparing the food. read more

Nothing is worse than ordering a BACON breakfast burrito and bite into it and taste a chunk of sausage. I double checked the receipt and it clearly said BACON breakfast burrito. I let the first time go and patronized this cafe again because it's close to my job. I ordered the same thing, and emphasize to please make sure there's no sausage in it and explained the previous encounter. I'll be damned about half way through the BACON breakfast burrito I tasted a piece of sausage. Now I'm pissed off because now I feel like it was done out of spite. I just love this place. I mainly go on Sundays. I go after church. At first I went there because it was near by. Didn't have to drive far and then get in line. So I mainly eat breakfast here. I have my favorites. But mainly the big breakfast. With a freshly squeezed OJ. Yes that's a bit more But it's worth it. The Big Breakfast consist of 2 eggs cooked the way you like it. I get them over easy. Yes I like to pop the yoke. Sausage or Bacon. Or half and half. Choice of hash browns or country potatoes. I get hash browns. And they always cook them percent. Not burnt or still raw. That doesn't happen here. Then you have a choice bread. Toast white or wheat, Rye, sourdough and English Muffin. Off course I get the English Muffin. It comes buttered. And they always bring you some jam. But it's not done yet. You get 3 nice size pancakes. Yes. It will fill you up. Now I have had the pastrami burger. It was ok for me. I did prefer their pastrami melt. They have a sandwich but it comes with no cheese. They grill their pastrami here. Not boil it like at the Hat. Taste much better. They serve menudo on the weekends. I SE people order that a lot. It looks like people order different things. I'm always seeing different things. Waffles , burgers , sandwiches, burritos. Country fried steak. The menu is big. And diverse. But I mainly come for breakfast. They have 14-16 tables inside. They are all booths. And sit 4 comfortably. They also have tables outside. So whatever fancies you. This place is kept clean. The servers are always cleaning up. And some nice you order first. Gives you an opportunity to choose your table. In case you want to face the television. Or not. I past by & flipped a beech to eat at Alea just for old time's sake... And I left happy. Food: B Standard foods. The portions are insane~! They load the fries or hash browns to make sure a man don't leave hungry. Breakfast. Standard stuff. Eggs, toast, hash browns, omlettes, bacon, meats, etc. The portions are generous. The salsa/chile work very well with the omlettes. Burgers. They are standard 1/4 lbers. Double ortega cheese burger w/ avocado (no bacon) was my go to when i was a fatty. I miss it. The girl, who must have been new, was completely rude when taking my order over the phone. And for some reason, she split my order into 2 separate orders and charged me for each item separately (burger + fries + drink) instead of combining everything as a meal for a small discount. Even when after a more seasoned staff told her she rang me up incorrectly, she still overcharged me on the 2nd transaction and argued with me that it was my fault for itemizing my order and not ordering the "combo". Who on earth has to specify that they're ordering a meal when they're asking for a burger/sandwich, drink and a side? I'm not sure if there was a bad phone connection, but I literally had to scream "fries" over the phone, like, 5 times because she kept asking "WHAT SIDE??" And I was trying to order a grilled fish wrap but she kept hearing "burrito". Surprisingly she got those orders correct but I had also ordered a turkey melt but happened to get a tuna melt instead. The food has always been great, and I've never had an issue even when dining in during busy lunch hours but my experience today was during a slow period with maybe 2 other customers in the establishment. And as far as the money goes, being overcharged a few bucks isn't a big deal but it bothers me beyond belief when staff give bad customer service, argue senselessly with customers (especially when they're still learning the job), AND get the orders wrong. Food is diner quality and there's a plethora of options actually a bit overwhelming. Favorites are chicken Mediterranean wrap with taziki sauce, Tuna melt, chicken melt (ask to add lettuce and tomato), turkey burger and tuna salad. It's close to my work so is my usual quick option. Only complaint is sometimes the staff is a little lacking in the happiness department and seem to be annoyed whenever they are taking your order. read more
