We needed to replace a set of steel hollow metal fire doors for an office building in the parking area. We were very pleased with the interaction from the quote, answering numerous questions about the details of the doors (self-closing, locking, mounting, etc). They came out to install the doors on a rainy day and saw that water was leaking from the roof inside the walls. So glad they alerted me as I needed to have the roof leak repaired and rotted wood replaced. They came back later after I made the repairs and installed the doors. Just used their services to repair our door after it was violently thrown back by some really powerful winds the other day. Ingrid, my contact, was very courteous and the service was prompt. Being close to the New Year I scheduled to have the repairman come by on Friday when we opened. The repair guy--didn't catch his name like a doofus--was very friendly and quick with his work, though I wish he was fifteen minutes faster as they charge by the hour, but what can you do? However, he arrived in a timely manner and had a good laugh about my story of using Barr Commercial Door a few years prior. And, he managed to work some magic on our wonky door as I was certain we would have to get a new door. But again, I am no door expert. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. We have been customers of AM PM Door for many years. However, we had to stop using them when the gate they had worked on a month and half before (and for many years before that) malfunctioned by opening and then immediately closing on my car. It caused 2500 dollars worth of damage which the owner refused to reimburse us for. His technician even came out to look at the gate after we notified the company about the incident. He called the owner and told him that a part was faulty. Still the owner would not make us whole. Because the company would not reimburse us, we sued in small claims court. The judgement has not been returned, but I am not optimistic as the owner lied and misrepresented many facts during the proceedings. After using a company for at least seven years, I would have thought that they would be been reasonable in dealing with this situation. Instead the owner mischaracterized facts in court and brought with him a very rude employee (who knew nothing of the situation and yet inserted himself into discussions). The situation was clear-- the gate he's serviced for over five years did not stop. If that's the kind of gate or customer service you want, AM PM is your place! UPDATE 7/27: we prevailed in small claims court. The owner is refusing to pay us and is instead claiming her will be appealing. I repeat, this person has been doing our gates for multiple years and was actually a friend of my Uncle. He refuses still to do the right thing. I wonder what new lies he'll come up with now! Also note that this company has liked this review-- I'm not sure if they find horrible customer service funny, but from my all these expierencea they obviously don't take it seriously. UPDATE 8/23: unfortunatly, we did not win on appeal. It's very disappointing to me, but I am proud that we attempted to hold this company accountable. Kelvin admitted in court that the gate malfunctioned and that had it not, we wouldn't be in court. He still contends that it was my fault because how I drove out of a (one car) driveyway. An employee (not the owner) called my mom on her cell phone and demanded that we take down this yelp review and if I didn't he would sue me for defamation. There's nothing in my review that is untrue, nor slanderous. I hope this yelp helps other consumers make an informed choice when decieding who to use for their gate needs. UPDATE 9/27: (in response to response from business owner) My feelings after the intial trial have no bearing on the decision-- I'm not sure your argument about that is compelling in the way you think it is. Similarly, I mentioned how long you have done work for us and again, I believe that argument is less helpful to your point than you think. I would think after all that time you would be more ameanable to resolving this matter outside of court. Instead you immedietly blamed me, which you continue to do. Please explain how I damaged my car on the left side, if I ran into the gate? If that's what happened, wouldn't the damage be to the front of the car? Had a door with a timer installed at our office building a few months ago. When I came to the office on Monday the door wouldn't open. Apparently something went wrong with the timer. I called and a technician was scheduled to come out Wednesday between 7am and 9am. I drove in 60 miles for the appointment. At 9:30am I called and was told the technician had gotten hurt and no one could come out. I asked why they hadn't called to let me know. I was told he had just gotten hurt that morning. I told them that they still could have called. An appointment was then made for Friday between 9am and 12 noon. I received a confirmation phone call on Thursday. Again I drove in the 60 miles. At 11am I called to see when the technician would arrive. I was told that whoever had made the Friday appointment did it in error and there would be no one coming to fix our door. My garage door "died" (spring broke and tracks bent) and I needed it fixed in a jiffy - with car locked inside and a mangled door, I chose AM/PM because they could come out first thing Monday morning. They did arrive at the set time and fixed the door in under 3 hours, for $385 (salesman's estimate was $300 on the phone). OK, I can live with that. And, a 5 year warranty to boot. However, a few days later when a cable suddenly fell off the wheel (which the AM/PM repairman serviced but did not replace), the door was unusable again. This time they were less excited to talk to me (warranty repair, after all) but did come out the next day and fixed that in less than 20 minutes. Two weeks later I receive a bill in the mail for $105! Phone rep knew it was a warranty repair, repairman knew it was warranty repair, but I was billed. In trying to work it out over the phone the billing rep said she'd write off the bill but that "I could remove my sticker they placed because they would never service me again." The 5 year warranty? Gone for good. So, initially, great customer service (or should I say talented salespeople), on-time repairs, etc., but they sure don't stand behind their service when you need them to!
