We had a fantastic dinner at AMA at Cane Bay during our visit to St. Croix last week! The Crispy Mushroom Arugula with goat cheese salad was fantastic in taste and appearance. Our entrees included the filet mignon and the grilled mahi. Both were delicious and beautiful! We had a wonderful server, E.J., and experienced the sunset right from our table along with the waves crashing a few feet away. We highly recommend this as a fine dining experience for a romantic date night while on St. Croix! read more

The place is absolutely beautiful! But that is the only pro sadly. Cons: service is unclear and slow, the menus were all disgusting, stains, smudges and I got something weird smeared on my hand from the cocktail menu, the drinking glasses did not look clean, there were a lot of flies (and no acknowledgment or explanation), drinks were just ok, food was just ok. I was underwhelmed and disappointed, I've been looking forward to dining there. It was also a large group but no questions about whether we were celebrating a special occasion. My brother is still waiting on his lemonade. And the website said gratuity is automatically added for parties of 5 or more, but it was added for our party of 4? It wasn't terrible but given the price point, absolutely not worth it. Go to the bar upstairs instead, practically the same view, less to eat but more of a worthwhile experience. They need to be reminded that details matter. read more

This place is incredible. My beautiful little biscuit and I booked Ama about a week before we left for our spiritual and physical journey to St. Croix. We reserved Oceanside seating and Oceanside is what we got. My oh my what a view. It feels like you're dining at the end of the world. The food matches the view, each plate taking your taste buds on a ride of a lifetime. But above all else, the service was impeccable. Our server guided us through each course with elegance and sharpness. The way he set the tone as soon as we sat down, we knew we were in for a once in a life time dining experience. Food was good! We had the special of the day the yellow fin tuna! Loved the tuna! We also had the almond crusted mahi and it was so moist! The hard part for us was that there isn't really much for kids. They did offer a butter noodle for them though. The honey pie and lemon cheesecake were on point! We had dinner last night. Breathtaking view and friendly staff. You will need reservations as it gets filled up. We did not have reservations but we were able to get a seat at the bar while they were willing to find a table for us later but we were fine where we were at. Love the food and love the scenery should be a GO TO on STX. The biggest FLAW is the way they bill for groups. We have guests almost weekly for work and now avoid taking them to one of the best spots on the island due to the enormous confusion on group billing. When you go out to eat you should have an option to pay for you and your family not handed one gigantic receipt and told " sorry that's how our system is set up" so you have to figure out who owes what. Look at your tables on a Thursday- Saturday night you should be packed but groups now avoid you due to the billing issue. If you could figure out how to join the 21st century and get a computer system that allows individual billing we will come back! read more

We are regular visitors to St Croix and are always looking for a fine dining experience. AMA is just that. Not only is the setting on North Shore right at the water incredible, the food was amazing. The Mahi ceviche was the best ceviche I had in a VERY long time. The seafood linguine special (Conch, Shrimp and Clams in a Tomato Fennel sauce) was delightful. My husband's flank steak with potatoes and broccoli was perfectly done and very flavorful. I usually do not order cocktails, just a glass of wine with dinner but made an exception when I saw the innovative selection. If you are looking for a special place on the North Shore look no further. We have another week on the island and we will be back to soak in the ambiance and enjoy the wonderful service and food. read more

It's our tradition to spend the last night in St. Croix at this restaurant, formerly the waves and now the absolutely delightful AMA. I highly recommend this restaurant. The best food I've eaten on St. Croix, and maybe one of the best meals I've had, period. The cocktails are handcrafted and elegant. I ordered the clam chowder and mahi ceviche which was the appetizer special for the night. I thought both struck an incredible balance of flavors. The rest of my family ordered the pork chop, fettuccine with fish, and the mahi main, and they all seemed to love their food as well. We couldn't decide which dessert we wanted so we ordered all three. I gotta say, the honey pie with fresh nut ice cream is to die for. Please check this place out if you're near cane bay! read more

Just going to say AMA might be best restaurant on St. Croix.... We were frequent guests to the restaurant when Waves was open, and were very sad to see it close because it was one of our favorite neighborhood spots. However, the changes AMA has made has elevated the restaurant to a whole new level. I was extremely impressed with the AMA "pop ups" and really liked the vibe of the upstairs bar. After seeing the new menu and restaurant come together I am beyond impressed. The restaurant is very clean, classic but also trendy, fancy but not stuffy, casual but not a dive. It is the perfect date night, perfect place to celebrate with friends, or "sit at a bar" and have a drink and desert night. The ambiance, the drinks, THE FOOD, everything has come together to bring one of the best experiences on the island. The ability to sit Oceanside, listen to the waves, get a fantastic meal with tons of flavor will keep you coming back for more. Not only will we be back, but it'll be hard to keep us from coming back weekly. read more

Found this place by luck and by accident. After going to two other restaurants that were completely packed with 90 minute waiting lists, we drove on and saw one of those temporary signs on the sidewalk with "Yummy Tummy / Yummy food eat here Tuesday" or something like that written in chalk. There didn't look to be a restaurant anywhere, more like a small hotel. There was an ornate sign that we now know says, "AMA" but looked like a calligraphy "M" to all of us. We stopped to see what the 'yummy food' might mean and discovered this lovely, elegant restaurant right at water's edge. We were delighted with the menu, lots of creative seafood options. Everyone was pleased with their meal and deemed it the restaurant highlight of the trip. The few people dining there is an indication that it's a hidden gem that many don't know is there. This is a very nice restaurant that just reopened this week March 15, 2021. It sits right on the ocean and the view is spectacular. Parking is limited. The food was very tasty. You need a reservation, and they book days in advance. It is pricy but worth it. Our waitress (Laura) was wonderful and very accommodating. We will definitely return. read more

6 of us went here to celebrate a 60th birthday and were sadly disappointed. They brought 1 relatively small bottle of water to the table, which we drank down immediately. We waited 15 minutes before a waiter showed up again. We asked for more water (which we had to repeat 3 more times during the very long evening.). We also ordered appetizers, because we were starving. But we waited 45 minutes for them to arrive. In the interim, we ordered the main course. Fresh lobster was on the menu, but we were told the lobster had only just been delivered and we shouldn't order it unless we wanted to wait another hour. So, even thought that's what most of us had wanted, we didn't order it. We finished our appetizers and then waited another 45 minutes for our main course to arrive. In the meantime, every table around us (some who had arrived and ordered before us and some who had arrived and ordered after us) all got beautiful lobster dinners. And just to make sure it all took even longer, each entree was on a separate plate from each side dish, and the waiter carried only 2 plates at a time from a downstairs kitchen. So the delivery of our meal to our table took more than 15 minutes for everything to finally arrive. Most of it was cold by the time we finally got to eat it, partly due to the slowness of the delivery, and also to the fact that we didn't have any cutlery. We had told the waiter on his first trip that we didn't have any cutlery, but he didn't bring it till all the food had arrived 15 minutes later. And then the meals were very average. There was nothing overly wrong with any of it; it was ok. It just wasnt' great. And it was less great because it was cold by the time we got to eat it. We wanted dessert, but were told the only thing they had was cheesecake and there were only 2 pieces left. We took them both and shared. That was actually the highlight of the meal; it was quite good. We were at this restaurant for 2.5 hours, and not because we were lingering over drinks and coffee. We all had 1 pre-dinner drink, no one had wine, no one had coffee. The service was just unbearably slow. On a positive note, the view is amazing, and the live music was very pleasant. But they couldn't make up for poor service and average, but very expensive, food. read more

The first issue was that they immediately pour everyone water, and continue pouring throughout the meal. This wouldn't be bad except they are billing you at $6 per bottle, of warm water no ice (but you don't know that until the bill comes)! Our waiter was just plain rude. He seemed angry that we weren't buying any cocktails, and continually mentioned that fact. The food was good, not great, I got the salmon as well as another person at the table. The food came out warm, not hot. Like it sat for a while before being brought out (which took a good chunk of time from when we ordered). The portions were also very small, such that even with a starter salad, entrée, and dessert, several of us were still hungry. We asked to have the check split (there were 3 couples in our party) and the waiter just brought the check all together anyway. When we asked again if he could split it up he was even more pissy, and remarked it would take him at least 10 minutes to do that. The charged us the mandatory 20% for party of 6 or more, this is one of the few dining experiences I want to tip him less. I haven't been made to feel so unwelcome in a restaurant, ever!, let alone one that over charges for ever thing they are offering you.
