Excellent service, very fast and friendly even with a only a couple of staff. They have a nice variety of coffee drinks and matcha drinks as well as milk alternatives. It's a small cafe with very limited seating and a small parking lot. Street parking is available and they share their lot with Dinah's chicken which makes it tough during lunch. The coffee is delicious and who doesn't like to support small businesses? I can't wait to come back and try some hot coffee.

Loved this cute little spot! Felt lucky to have no line. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee, and the sweet cream on top had the perfect sweet-and-salty flavor. I'm already craving another one. It's a small café with only about 7 to 8 seats, but there's a decent-sized parking lot, and it's absolutely worth the stop. The service was so friendly, and the coffee was delicious. Definitely coming back to try the turon and more of their drinks!

Very cute cafe with friendly staff! Some homemade baked goods adds a perfect pairing with their drinks. I got the Iced Turon Speciality Coffee with Banana Cream and giiirl it was so good! I honestly don't need coffee to function but this drink in particular would make me one.

A very solid coffee spot! As a Filipina, I jumped on the idea of a turon banana latte as it was one of my favorite desserts growing up. I got hints of the caramelized sugar but was a little sad that more of the banana flavor didn't shine through, even with the banana foam! I got the mango sticky rice matcha for my husband which he enjoyed but he also lamented in desiring a stronger matcha flavor. Despite this, I still thought that overall the drinks were tasty and I would return to try their other offerings!

We have been here more than once now and ordered the Amai Special latte every time. The first time, it was slightly too sweet for me, so I ordered half the brown sugar the second time and that was perfect. I'll be doing that from now on. This shop is small, has a large communal table inside as well as a couple of pairs of chairs outside. If they would put an umbrella out there for the sun/heat, it would be a really nice little corner spot to hang out in this plaza. They always have nice music playing and a clean restroom on hand. They people here really seem to care about their drinks and have been friendly and kind every time we've been here. There is a small parking lot for the entire plaza, which is feast or famine for spots depending on what time of day you're here. We've come when it's super busy and still found a spot quickly. It's a one way loop thru the parking lot and all of the spaces are angled. Lots of great stuff in this plaza, so grab a coffee from Amai and check out the pananderia and other businesses while you're at it.

Delicious drinks! You can see the matcha being made by hand fresh as you wait in line. I loved the hojicha einspanner - the tea was so fragrant. They have unique drinks like the Turo Banana latte that you can't find anywhere else. Their pastries also taste as good as they look. We had the matcha almond croissant which had matcha filling in the middle and it was so good! Service is so friendly and efficient. The space is small inside with just one large table and couple seats on the side, so it can be tight squeeze inside. It's worth a visit though because you can taste the quality.

Was really excited to hear that a cute café like Amai was opening near me. We went on a Thursday afternoon and there was a short line. Their menu is incredibly innovative and has a lot of unique flavors, so it was super hard choosing just one. I wanted to try the mango matcha, too and the banana flavors also sounded good. We ended up ordering the Vietnamese coffee and the double matcha. The Vietnamese coffee was good, strong and not too sweet. However, my double matcha was very milky and tasted watered down. Despite it being the strongest matcha on the menu (supposedly), there was no matcha taste at all and it tasted more like just oat milk. The matcha cream on top was tasty and strong but not enough to balance out the milkiness of the matcha latte underneath. I was pretty disappointed, but hopefully it was just a one off. I hope I can come back and try some of the other flavors, and see if the matcha is redeemed. The space itself is super cute with wooden tables and a record player and plants in the corner. There are also chairs and tables outside, and it's located in a plaza with plenty of parking. A pretty convenient and cozy space - I'd opt for the coffee instead of matcha here or skip the double matcha and try a fruit matcha instead.

Stopped here before heading to the zoo with my daughter and so glad we did! The baristas were so sweet and friendly with my daughter and I! They are so intentional about design and taste! It is a small shop but has a perfect table for getting work done if you come early. Some outdoor seating as well. Excited to try the matcha next time but the barista recommended the turon latte and it was delicious.

Located in a small shopping center with some parking but extra parking next door in the Vons lot. Great variety of coffee and matcha drinks. With a specialty Asian inspired drink section and seasonal specials. They all looked really tasty and creative. Went with the following... Specialty Asian Inspired coffee drinks: Vietnamese House Coffee- Coffee, condensed milk, salted foam, and cacao powder Turon Banana- Espresso, milk, banana, banana foam, and banana chips The Vietnamese hose coffee was strong and perfectly balanced with the sweetness of condensed milk , now add a salty component with the foam and... perfect! I love all things banana and the TURON LATTE WAS SO YUMMY. Great espresso and lots of banana. Loved it! I don't think you can go wrong with any beverage here.

Saw people hyping up this place on Tik Tok and let's just say... don't trust everything you see on the internet! Came in on a Saturday afternoon & there was no wait! My boyfriend and I ordered the Matcha Einspanner (his with oat milk and mine with regular milk). I was profoundly disappointed... the matcha was lacking in flavor and grainy. All I really tasted was milk.... the cream top had a good amount of sweetness to it, but it's not enough to save the rest of the drink. I wish the matcha was stronger and was whisked better. Surprisingly, my boyfriend's oat milk matcha einspanner tasted stronger in matcha notes than mine, but still wasn't impressive... inconsistency in drinks is an issue that needs to be solved. Ample parking available as there is a free lot within the plaza. Interior is clean with limited tables and very small space.

Hours say they're open at 7 am, but it was completely closed at 7:30 am...so disappointing

We were excited to try this place. We looked the evening before coming for the hours. Yelp and Google state that they open at 7 am, but DoorDash said they take orders at 8 am. We figured Google is usually accurate, and 2 out of 3 places saying 7 am would probably mean they open then. We rationalized perhaps they didn't want DoorDash overwhelming them with orders in the morning so they opened orders at 8 am, who knows. We got to Amai at nearly 7:30 am and it was dark, closed. So disappointing, please update your hours, so we don't have to waste a trip. Parking lot was small; we only found parking probably because Amai isn't open and it's early. Hopefully I can update this review once I actually try their drinks, as I was really looking forward to the Turon banana coffee.

I have been WAITING to try Amai, and I was so happy to find out that they JUST opened one in Glendale. We ordered: 1. Amai Signature 2. Manila Vanilla 3. Blueberry Matcha 4. Ube Cinnamon Roll First the cafe itself, is super small, BUT SUPER CUTE! It has ambient lightning and a lot of seats surprisingly! The girls that were working were also super, super sweet and were so helpful in guiding us on what drinks to choose! I didn't know that Amai was Filipino owned, and so I was so surprised to see Filipino inspired drinks! We ordered the Manila Vanilla and Amai Signature, which were both the perfect blend of sweet flavor and the bitterness of espresso. The blueberry matcha was also super flavorful, but a little sweet for me. Next time, I would def go a little less sweet. However, we also ordered the Ube Cinnamon Roll, which was also SUPER sweet, but WE ENJOYED it. Tried the matcha einspanner on a weekend afternoon. Parking was a bit tough since there are nearby businesses and limited spaces. The drink looked great presentation-wise, but unfortunately the taste didn't match. We customized the drink to 1/2 sweet and it leaned heavily toward sweet milk. The matcha flavor was very mild with little to no earthy bitterness. The cloud foam was sweetened as well, which made the overall drink feel unbalanced. This was our first visit, and it would've been helpful to be offered more customization options upfront when ordering. Since they seem newly opened, we didn't complain and are hopeful they'll continue to refine their drinks. For matcha lovers, we recommend asking for, 1-3 extra matcha shot and less or no sweetener to your own preference. read more

I really loved this matcha! When they said the flavor was balanced, they really meant it. The matcha was umami and not too nutty. I think for me, I'd like it extra sweet better next time. As the ice melted, the cold foam stepped in and balanced it out perfectly. I also loved the place, it felt cozy and homey. Love it! Will definitely come back. read more

My experience at AMAI was excellent when they first opened, which is why I frequently recommended it to friends and family. Unfortunately, my visit on June 9 completely changed my perception. During previous visits, there was always a friendly and welcoming staff presence. However, today I encountered a male employee at the register whose attitude toward my sister and me was disappointing and unprofessional. After processing my payment, he disputed the transaction and insisted on charging me again, seemingly because the original transaction did not include a tip. The situation was confusing, frustrating, and handled very poorly. Despite paying for my order, I left without even taking my coffee because of how uncomfortable the interaction became. When I requested clarification and a dispute for the transaction, the issue was not resolved in a satisfactory manner. As someone who has supported this business from the beginning and encouraged many others to visit, I am extremely disappointed by this level of customer service. No customer should have to deal with this kind of treatment. Sadly, this experience has made me decide not to return. The two male workers at this establishment are pressuring customers into leaving tips. They are demanding very rude and inconsiderate. Terribly disappointed in the service I received I will not return, I wouldn't recommend anyone to enter this establishment especially any females the male workers will make you feel very uncomfortable. read more

Tried going here and immediately the vibes were hostile. 2 other couples at tables waiting for their drinks so it was just me and my partner in line to order. We were not greeted at the entrance and not even acknowledged once during the entire time we were there. It's a small space so I'm not sure how that was possible There were two associates behind the counter- someone making drinks and the other going in and out of the back doing god knows what. Waited at the counter after some time and ultimately left because no one bothered to say anything to us. Arrived when they opened on a weekday and enjoyed sitting inside. The staff were really friendly. I didn't feel rushed and spent time writing, watching the rain, and slowly drinking a matcha einspanner. I like that there is one large table inside, since the space is small it creates opportunities to sit with people you haven't yet met and talk. If the reviews about a long line are persuading you not to go, you'll miss out. read more

Been meaning to try this place for a while now. Tucked away in a tiny shopping center that creates a struggle to find parking in. Location wise it is also in a lesser populated area of Glendale, so it's out of the way of the main city center. The coffee shop is small but cozy and nice decor. Went on a Sunday afternoon and they had about four staff working as it was well busy. All staff were nice and the lady at the front helped me choose a drink for my indecisive mind. Ended up going with the matcha Einspanner as I wasn't feeling coffee that day. Waited less than 4 minutes and my drink was ready made. Onto the drink itself, it was a decent and pleasant drink. Personally I would say that, though the matcha tasted of good quality, I felt as if the matcha itself was not enough and the cream overpowered the drink. As you can see in the picture included, the drink was not as matcha dense as other places I've tried. The cream top had a good flavor. To sum it up, would I come here again? Sure. Are there better places for the money? Definitely. Not the best matcha I've had, but don't let it discourage you from giving it a try yourself! read more

Disappointed. 1 star customer service and drinks with no flavor. I ordered the banana with banana cold foam and all I could taste was heavy cream, no banana flavor at all. I also picked up a honey comb for my sister and all we could taste was milk. Ordered 2 pastries that didn't taste fresh, definitely needed to be warmed up, but they'll basically yell at you that they can't be warmed up because they are "too big". Instagramable drinks , but not worth the price , paid close to $30 for 2 coffees and 2 pastries and none of them were good. read more

Honestly, it mostly tasted like milk with just a tiny hint of matcha. I'm used to cold foam being a bit more fluffy, so this one just wasn't quite for me. It also took around 10 minutes to get my drink, so overall it wasn't my favorite experience. read more

What initially gravitated me to this place is their turon latte. I love most banana flavor desserts and drinks. Saturday, February 10 was my third visit to Amai and also the third time I tried their turon latte and it has consistenly fallen short. The first time, the banana flavor was missing and so forth. This so called banana foam they charge extra for has no banana flavor in it but instead it's just a overtly sweet foam and the coffee also does not have any banana flavor to it. And this has been the same experience thereafter. Not sure if the baristas or the owner have properly working taste buds to not be able to tell that their products are lacking flavor. Also, the use of the word turon is misleading. Turon is a dessert/snack of banana dusted with brown sugar then rolled in a spring roll wrapper. All I got on top were some sad banana chips for decoration that were also flavorless. Lastly, the ratio of milk to their espresso shots is infuriating. If I wanted a milk flavored coffee, then that's what milkshakes are for. Please be honest with your goods and reconsider elevating this drink to what it's supposed to be. read more

Cute new place! The aesthetic is 10/10. Service was 10/10. Fair prices. But the matcha flavor is sooo light. I just tasted mostly milk. When I mix the drink together, I forget it's a matcha lol. My experience at AMAI started off amazing when they recently opened. As I went in today June 9, and there was 2 male workers when there was always 1 female worker and 1 male. Stating that I am so disappointed with the guy in the front who is charging who gave me and my sister attitude and disputed my charged transaction in order to get a tip and charge me again. I have recommended many people to come and try the coffee there although I would not want anyone to experience that horrible level of customer service. I paid and left without grabbing my coffee. Asked for a dispute, as he was able to charge the first time and dispute quickly in order to get a tip whereas the second time I was charged. Never will I be going back there as a local. read more

So many people define themselves as experts. Sadly, many of those same people will walk in and say things like, "Gosh, I'm tired, could you make me a double espresso?", clearly assuming that stronger taste automatically means more caffeine. My wife and I simply like a good coffee in the morning. Which leads to the obvious question: what do we define as "good coffee"? For us, it helps us get into the day, tastes pleasant, and does not leave a bitter note. We are absolutely not coffee experts and can discuss coffee, at best, at what we Germans would call "Thekenniveau" -- bar-counter level. I do understand, however, that it may make a difference whether beans were roasted weeks or even months ago somewhere remote, then shipped and stored, or whether they were roasted locally and recently. So we asked ChatGPT, and one of the recommendations was REGENT Coffee in our neighborhood. We went. Our directive was very clear: we explained that we knew little to nothing about coffee, which was precisely why we had come in and were looking for advice. The lady helping us started with: "Well, it all comes down to the settings of your coffee machine when you pour your espresso." I responded that we are not really espresso drinkers -- we drink Americano. She gave us "the look" and explained that an Americano is espresso with more water. The information: fair enough. The way it was communicated: not ideal if your goal is to win me as a customer. From there, the conversation did not really lead anywhere. We were asked questions such as whether we preferred nutty or fruity coffee. That may be a perfectly reasonable question for someone who already knows what those terms mean in practical taste terms. But we had just told her that we did not. That was the entire reason we were there. We were not looking to prove our coffee knowledge. We were looking for someone who had the expertise to guide us. In the end, we bought an Americano. It was served so hot that my wife burned her mouth in the car, and it took almost the entire 45-minute drive to Santa Monica before it had reached what we considered a comfortable drinking temperature. It cost $5. And we did not even particularly like it. Would I go again? No. Would I recommend REGENT based on this experience? No. What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was a tremendous lost opportunity to turn us into long-term customers. We like expert advice. We drive to Farmers Markets to buy fresh produce knowing full well that we may pay 200% more for something that is perhaps only 15% better. But we can taste the difference, and that makes it worthwhile to us. Coffee could have been exactly the same. If I specialized in coffee, I would make it incredibly easy for people like us to enter that world. I would offer tastings. I would explain, in simple language, what "nutty", "fruity", "chocolatey", "bright", "smooth" or "low acidity" actually mean in the cup. I might offer a short class on how to set up a home coffee machine properly. Maybe even machine-specific sessions. Maybe in the shop. Maybe at the customer's home. Because there are customers walking through the door saying, quite literally: "We know very little. We want advice. We are willing to spend money." And even better from a business perspective: Not just money once. Continuous money. Imagine if the conversation had instead started with: "I totally understand where you are coming from. Coffee can become unnecessarily complicated very quickly. Since you mostly drink Americano and want something smooth rather than bitter, let me give you two small tastes so you can understand the difference. Then I'll recommend one bean to start with." We would almost certainly have bought a bag. Possibly two. And if we had liked them, we might have bought beans there for years. Instead, they sold us one tiny cup for $5 over the counter, while the payment screen suggested an 18-25% tip. And two potentially very loyal customers walked out frustrated. That, to me, is the real business lesson here. It is not about whether REGENT makes good or bad coffee. Taste is subjective. It is about recognizing the customer who is standing right in front of you. Especially when that customer is effectively saying: "Please teach me how to spend more money with you." And then making sure you do not send them home without doing exactly that. Small caffeine footnote: espresso is more concentrated in caffeine per ounce, but a normal serving of drip coffee usually contains more total caffeine than a single espresso because the serving is much larger. Stronger taste does not automatically mean more caffeine.

It had such a perfect balance of flavor. I had never even heard of a bakery called Proof Bakery before yesterday. After asking the friend who brought the cake and looking it up, I found out that it is a bakery located in Glendale. The friend who brought the cake told me that Proof Bakery is so famous that even many Hollywood celebrities buy cakes from there. She especially mentioned Natalie Portman as one of the celebrities who loves their cakes. I definitely want to try that amazing cake again and buy one for myself someday. It was super delicious.

I recently visited Amai and I had the Strawberry Matcha, it was an absolute 10/10. You could really taste the quality of the matcha, and the strawberry flavor added a delicious twist that made it stand out. The atmosphere of the cafe was just as impressive. So many people define themselves as experts. Sadly, many of those same people will walk in and say things like, "Gosh, I'm tired, could you make me a double espresso?", clearly assuming that stronger taste automatically means more caffeine. My wife and I simply like a good coffee in the morning. Which leads to the obvious question: what do we define as "good coffee"? For us, it helps us get into the day, tastes pleasant, and does not leave a bitter note. We are absolutely not coffee experts and can discuss coffee, at best, at what we Germans would call "Thekenniveau" -- bar-counter level. I do understand, however, that it may make a difference whether beans were roasted weeks or even months ago somewhere remote, then shipped and stored, or whether they were roasted locally and recently. So we asked ChatGPT, and one of the recommendations was REGENT Coffee in our neighborhood. We went. Our directive was very clear: we explained that we knew little to nothing about coffee, which was precisely why we had come in and were looking for advice. The lady helping us started with: "Well, it all comes down to the settings of your coffee machine when you pour your espresso." I responded that we are not really espresso drinkers -- we drink Americano. She gave us "the look" and explained that an Americano is espresso with more water. The information: fair enough. The way it was communicated: not ideal if your goal is to win me as a customer. From there, the conversation did not really lead anywhere. We were asked questions such as whether we preferred nutty or fruity coffee. That may be a perfectly reasonable question for someone who already knows what those terms mean in practical taste terms. But we had just told her that we did not. That was the entire reason we were there. We were not looking to prove our coffee knowledge. We were looking for someone who had the expertise to guide us. In the end, we bought an Americano. It was served so hot that my wife burned her mouth in the car, and it took almost the entire 45-minute drive to Santa Monica before it had reached what we considered a comfortable drinking temperature. It cost $5. And we did not even particularly like it. Would I go again? No. Would I recommend REGENT based on this experience? No. What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was a tremendous lost opportunity to turn us into long-term customers. We like expert advice. We drive to Farmers Markets to buy fresh produce knowing full well that we may pay 200% more for something that is perhaps only 15% better. But we can taste the difference, and that makes it worthwhile to us. Coffee could have been exactly the same. If I specialized in coffee, I would make it incredibly easy for people like us to enter that world. I would offer tastings. I would explain, in simple language, what "nutty", "fruity", "chocolatey", "bright", "smooth" or "low acidity" actually mean in the cup. I might offer a short class on how to set up a home coffee machine properly. Maybe even machine-specific sessions. Maybe in the shop. Maybe at the customer's home. Because there are customers walking through the door saying, quite literally: "We know very little. We want advice. We are willing to spend money." And even better from a business perspective: Not just money once. Continuous money. Imagine if the conversation had instead started with: "I totally understand where you are coming from. Coffee can become unnecessarily complicated very quickly. Since you mostly drink Americano and want something smooth rather than bitter, let me give you two small tastes so you can understand the difference. Then I'll recommend one bean to start with." We would almost certainly have bought a bag. Possibly two. And if we had liked them, we might have bought beans there for years. Instead, they sold us one tiny cup for $5 over the counter, while the payment screen suggested an 18-25% tip. And two potentially very loyal customers walked out frustrated. That, to me, is the real business lesson here. It is not about whether REGENT makes good or bad coffee. Taste is subjective. It is about recognizing the customer who is standing right in front of you. Especially when that customer is effectively saying: "Please teach me how to spend more money with you." And then making sure you do not send them home without doing exactly that. Small caffeine footnote: espresso is more concentrated in caffeine per ounce, but a normal serving of drip coffee usually contains more total caffeine than a single espresso because the serving is much larger. Stronger taste does not automatically mean more caffeine.
