Came in on a Saturday morning right after they opened, and there were already so many people there, a great sign. We've been eyeing this spot for a while, and it's quickly becoming our new go to coffee shop in the neighborhood. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. There were only two people working, but everything moved smoothly and at a great pace. The aroma of fresh coffee filled the air the moment we walked in, adding to the cozy atmosphere. The space itself is charming, with both comfortable indoor seating and a great outdoor patio area. The couple in front of us recommended the Handles coffee, and it looked delicious, so that's definitely on my list for the next visit. So happy to have a new local coffee spot in the rotation. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. read more

Finally got over to check out Handles from a friend's rec and it was awesome. Not only did I load up myself with 3 drinks, but the service and chat with Erica and Ian was wonderful. It was a slower time of day, so they were able to take the time to explain the drinks in more detail, which I really appreciated. Ian's playlist was also great! We ended up having some really good conversation while I was there, which made the experience even better--just a genuinely welcoming, thoughtful vibe overall. I had 2 Handles iced coffees. I was about to be done, but then I saw someone order an iced vanilla latte and it looked so good I had to get a third drink. It was amazing. I have been here many times before when it was still Camel. Heard it switched to Handles, but have not given it a try since. Decided to try it out yesterday. It wasn't as busy as before. The coffee quality went down. The cream top was somewhat the same, but the coffee itself changed. It had become more watery and had a bit of a sour taste to it. Just AINt the same...sad. Finally got a chance to try this spot. I think the hype has definitely slowed down and there isn't such a big line at all times. The place is small with a few seating options so most people take it to go and the line goes by quickly. Seating also isn't very comfortable so I wouldn't recommend it for long stays or working. The staff is very friendly and seem to enjoy answering all your questions and making sure they make a drink you like. The menu is straightforward with the usual coffee menu but they do have a bit of specialties. We opted for an iced Vanilla Matcha and an iced Silver Lake Latte. -Vanilla Matcha: Great. Not overly sweet (how I like it). Balanced. Not too milky. A great matcha. -Silver Lake Latte: (espresso, milk, chocolate, orange). Another great option. This was too orange-y for me at the start, but the more you drank it, the more it made sense and it made for a bit of a refreshing latte. At the end there is an infused slice of orange waiting for you. It was a little treat. I would get this again. Also the drinks are smaller than the usual shops here in LA. I came here for a morning coffee fix and was recommended to give them a try. Street metered parking is available, I didn't have trouble finding a parking spot right next to the shop and it was Sunday, so parking is free. I got the Silver Lake Latte ($6.25), which includes espresso, milk, chocolate, and orange. It was a tasty drink mix and I enjoyed it. I would come back to give more of their drinks a try! read more

10/10 matcha! I tend to get the regular matcha latte, but I recommend the Handles matcha too. Love that they use agave as their sweetener. The matcha is strong but not bitter. It's super hip and trendy--there's usually a line out the door especially on weekends. Service is quick though so don't let the line scare you. There are a few stools downstairs for seating and an intimate area upstairs with a few tables. Personally I don't like to work here because the tables are short and it's hard to get anything done. Great place to chat with friends though. Parking is metered on the main street or free in the neighborhood. Definitely read the signs though because it's permit only during certain hours. What a cool coffee shop to come upon in the area! Their drinks are solid, you can tell the take great pride in making high quality tasting drinks (doesn't taste like a chan at all!). So yes, the line may get long, but don't fret as it moves quickly and it will be worth the wait. The upstairs is really cool too! There's a cool selfie camera to take some pics for you, there's a few seating areas with chairs and tables to get work done. It's the perfect ambiance for productivity, while being around some noise. Same owner as Camel, but rebranded itself just recently. It was our first time coming in and I love it. The green building really stands out and interior inside is hip and chic. There's also a second floor where you can sit down and relax or just study. The music playlist is chill and baristas are friendly. We ordered their signature Camel Coffee and the Camel Latte, both a 5/5. The cream on the coffee was foamy and creamy. The coffee was strong too to start off our morning. The Camel latte was delicious, I really like that hint of orange flavor, really adds a nice kick and sweetness. It was different and creative for sure. The flavor profile was on point. Wish they open a spot in OC because it was such a drive getting here. Still though, I recommend this spot to any coffee lovers out there. Would come back again! Mahalo! read more

One of my go-to matcha spots in LA! The quality of the matcha is impeccable - you can actually taste it but it's not too bitter. And you can see it in the color of the drinks. Also 5/5 service always, everyone is so kind. The handles matcha and handles coffee are the perfect small little sweet treats made with sweet cream on top (vegan cream avail). Both phenomenal. I personally love the regular matcha latte (it comes unsweetened). The vanilla is really good too. **My ONLY comment is that the vanilla is never mixed in! It sits at the bottom and you have to mix it yourself with a straw but it never gets fully dispersed so the first few sips are always very vanilla heavy. WHEN: Sun @12:30pm I came here to get some work done but it seems to be not a great place to do that. Upstairs, while the area may appear cozy, the low tables stools make it impossible to work. Sure you can go downstairs and try to work at the counter, but it's along a narrow path near the restroom. I was hoping they would have a simple house drip coffee, but it seems you have to know exactly what you want, and this was the case where I should have taken my time instead of rushing to get an order just because the barista was ready for me. I can see how those who are very specific to how they want their coffee and love customization would like it here. So the closest thing to a simple coffee was: ICED AMERICANO - $4.75 I think this was 2 shots of espresso with water. It was fine. Too bad the seating is so limited here so while I don't think this place is a good to work at, it's still a decent place to hang out and catch up with a friend over coffee. read more

Came to Handles to try their Handles Coffee, but I was told they had been out of their vegan cream for about 2 months. (Bummer) So I ordered their Silver Lake Latte which is their version of an iced orange mocha. I ordered mine with almond milk and it went really well with the chocolate and the orange. FYI: I was told their chocolate syrup is vegan. All in all I waited about 30 minutes for this coffee. There were maybe two people in front of me out the door when I arrived. We usually get their handles coffee or handles matcha, but enjoy their matcha latte & silver lake latte as well. Stopped by this coffee shop for the first time today, and am very glad I did. I got a handles coffee with oat milk and my partner got a handles matcha with oat milk. The drinks are small as they are flat white inspired drinks but well made with high quality matcha and nicely pulled espresso shots. The sweet cream on each drink was also nice. Dairy alternatives cost extra here, but they are modestly priced at 75 cents. Overall, handles is a good quality, and cute coffee shop in silver lake. I'm sure I'll be back. read more

As a person who has tried camel coffee, I was very surprised to see they had rebranded to handles coffee. The silverlake latte was delicious! The orange is such a refreshing add to their expresso. I also grabbed their vanilla matcha latte and I was not a huge fan. I thought the matcha tasted bitter and it wasn't creamy at all. The vanilla was house made but it overwhelmed the matcha flavor. The cashier was sweet and gave me recommendation to get the Handle's coffee. I told him I wanted it vegan and he recommended oat milk and vegan cold foam. I can see what the hype is alll about! Came here for the first time with two friends that had been here before. I was excited because all they kept saying is that it was the best coffee they've ever had etc etc. I'm like you know what let's see what it's all about. And DAYUM! They were right. I went with the favorite which is their Handles coffee. It was definitely worth every dollar (i didn't pay) but i wish there was a bigger size! The late Camel Coffee turned Handles Coffee is still solid and Korean American owned. Love how punchy their signature espresso and matcha w/ cream tops are, with such a small pour containing great flavor and caffeine content! The espresso paired well with a little macaron cookie (forgot the name), as it was strong and needed something sweet to cut it. The matcha was beautiful and perfect and could enjoy that any day on its own! That and being in Silver Lake on a holiday weekend with LA celebrities like Maude Apatow ordering the same drinks in line with me just makes it a full experience. I do miss the classic brown stone wall and matching high-ceiling interior to go with the Camel Coffee brand, but they seem to be doing the same things right here. I'm not sure what happened, as the interior is a bit empty and stripped naked as things are gone from the brand move I'm assuming, it does seem it lost a little bit of its "magic" and pure passion for making this place great and memorable. Now, it's just living in a shadow of what shortly-was, but still delivering the best they can... It's still a nice pick-me-up when you're in the mood. The (always) negative? The extra charge for switching to oat milk in such a small 6oz. (?) drink, because it's so little and some people really can't drink dairy. Cute interior with genuinely great coffee and excellent service. It's dog friendly, which is always a plus. The drinks lean a bit sweeter, but they're well made. I didn't like the americano, so I think this place really depends on what you order. The specialty coffees are where it shines. Friendly service at the counter, placed an order for the "Handles Coffee" -- only comes in one size -- and was out with my cup in hand in less than 5 minutes. We've been back several times since now and still loving it. Camel is a very popular Korean chain and this is its FIRST U.S. location right in Silver Lake! All my friends have been rejoicing. The design is so sleek and though it might be from Korea, very LA chic. The outdoor patio along the sidewalk is very cute, you can eat in the shadow of Quintin Tarentino's place across the street. Inside, the hidden balcony seating with a birds eye view of all going on below you? Simplistic beauty perfection. The signature coffee is tiny and delicious, made with a double espresso shot, milk and topped with their special Camel brand cream. Must get every time I stop in. This is a Korean shop and as such, they even have misugaru! Everything we've ever had here from the drinks to the pastries have been good. Don't skip their special "le tigre" pastry which looks like a madeleine, made with hazelnut butter and caramelized sugar. I just feel like I get a little cooler when I step into this shop - hahaha! So now after the name change, which we all know about this essentially is the same location as far as aesthetics and beverages. I always get the handles latte. I think it's the one with the chocolate and orange and then we also got a Matcha today. Parking can be a little tough in that area unfortunately so bring your patients or just walk over. Just over six bucks for a beverage, which I think is small and size. I wish there was a option to get a large larger drink. There's a small pastry case as well but we did not have any this time. They also have like two or three retail items, including a mug, which are cute. Seating is upstairs. Good tunes. I don't know about any elevators, etc. service was very friendly and nice.
