The food was good, but the service was very slow. We came here on a Monday at about 12:30pm for lunch. It was not very busy. There were maybe 5 other tables besides us. We ordered a lunch bento box, tempura udon, omakase, and a rainbow roll. The bento box came first. By the time the 2nd dish arrived (the udon), the person who ordered the box was just about done. Then when the omakase came, the udon was almost gone. Then after a few more minutes, the roll showed up, and by then, 2 of us were done eating and just watched the other 2 eat. Granted, it's very possible they may have been putting together a Togo or catering order, but that's information that should be mentioned while taking the order.

Pulling up you will try and determine if the place is open and should you go in? The answer is yes!!! Amami is truly a hidden gem and a place locals tend to visit. The staff is very friendly and answered all my questions. The menu truly pays homage to perfectly prepared sushi with texture and flavor.

Amazing sushi at affordable prices. Everything was delicious. Definitely ordered too much for two people but wanted to try so much. Everything was so fresh. Service was quick. I was just amazed by the variety and the price. If I lived closer, I would be here weekly. There are multiple locations around the bay.

4/6/25 I'm embarrassed to say that I have been to Amami Sushi Bistro a few times and haven't had a chance to write a review for them haha. The last two or three times I came here with my husband for dinner. We had ordered a variety of sushi rolls, which all taste tasted fantastic. The dinner hours are super busy, but you can get seated fairly quickly like within 10 minutes or so (at least from our experiences). In terms of parking, I highly recommend that you find parking along El Camino instead of in their parking lot. The parking lot is extremely small and can be tight. The most recent time we went there was for lunch and we didn't have to wait for a table. Here's what we got: - Gyoza - Spicy scallop roll - Yaki udon (mine) - Bento box: beef teriyaki with california roll (his) After trying out the udon, I think the next time I come here, I will stick to ordering their sushi. Unfortunately, the udon was very bland. Another disappointing thing was that the beef teriyaki was still very raw on the inside. After informing the staff, they brought out a new plate of beef teriyaki, but it took 20 minutes. The gyoza and the spicy scallop roll were the best items we had that day. What is consistent though is that the staff are very attentive and quick to take away dirty dishes. Even though the udon was a bummer that day, I would still give them five stars for the delicious sushi and the great service we have had in the past.

Affordable yet delicious omakase! One of my personal favorite places to get sushi. Their omakase set is under $50 for 10 LARGE pieces of nigiri. Each piece is carefully seasoned and flavored. Great option if you are looking for something slightly fancier than regular sushi but not as crazy as a $200 omakase meal. The restaurant does get very packed for dinner so I highly recommend that you call in the day before or at least a couple hours before to check for open reservations to reduce your waiting time. The restaurant is moderately sized with a moderate amount of seating.

Tried Amami for the first time and got the: - Chicken Karaage: 4/5! It's not the typical karaage meat shape and more small tender like, but I actually like that! Good seasoning, just wish there was more since there was a big gap under the top chicken lol. - Red and White Roll: 3.5/5! The soft shell crab roll was really good, but I felt like the fish wasn't as fresh. - Lover's Boat: 4/5! Great mix of different fishes. The salmon was my favorite! Appreciated the tea on the house and the servers were nice!

Roomier than the SSF location and has a little parking lot which is a big plus. Also not as quaint or upscale but more of a get the food in my tummy and don't worry about nothing vibe. I'm working and I'm hungry so let me eat and watch some tveeeeee. All kidding aside, the place has the same menu and plenty of fresh fish to select from. Rolls are tightly rolled with a good selection of toppings. They also have the Omakase Sushi of 10 chef's choice with fresh wasabi. Good service, roomy restaurant, no frills and a small parking lot with one handicapped spot. Street parking also available on busy El Camino Real.

Went on a weekday for the lunch special. The service was a bit slow since there was only one waiter. The fish was just OK, it was quite wet and soggy.

Taste: 4 Creativity/Authenticity: 3.5 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 5 Bang for your buck: 5 Everytime I'm in SF and looking for sushi Amami always pops up, it's like LA version of katsuya. A good selection of fish, with many specials too. So of course I had to try after reading the reviews and had to get the infamous omakase. I have to say for the price and the selection of fish it's a great deal! My only criticism would be the cutting of the fish, def not very traditional, portion size were all over the place but still good. Service here was great, fast, attentive especially how busy this place got. Overall great experience and best part is the price, I usually walk of a sushi restaurant no less than $120 and this place to my surprise was less than that for all the sushi I got! Will def be back

Can't get enough of Amami's Omakase!!! Great nigiri pieces, super fresh and delicious sashimi, coupled with a clean environment and always friendly and efficient service.. this place just keeps me coming back over and over again. My default is their Omakase... 10 pieces of deliciousness ... always super fresh and just YUMMY!!! The service is prompt and super efficient. They never miss a beat in refilling your water or tea glasses, and always ready to get you more ginger or wasabi. Another great meal at Amami!! Thank you!!

My husband and I always enjoy their raw bar here. Amami has always been one of those places for us where we dine if we are willing to spend. We see other customers order fusion rolls and tempura, but we always stuck with their raw bar. Truthfully, I would not recommend this as a place to sit and hang out with friends for more than 90-120 minutes. You won't be kicked out, but the team is hustling to manage a small restaurant space and serve all their walk ins for the evening. I encourage you to finish your meal and have a nightcap elsewhere. Start with their omakase and try their nigiris. Enjoy!

The sushi here is always fresh and reasonably priced. Each piece in the omakase is wonderful, I especially love the scallop! Staff is friendly and usually offer a free scoop of ice cream at the end of your meal. Casual spot for dining, good for families and big groups. Parking is limited as they have a small parking lot. Better luck with street or residential parking in the area.

    $42 omakase was outstanding
    Leonard S.

Large pieces of superbly fresh fish with individualized flavorings for the $42 omakase makes this a great seal! Definitely better than anything in the South Bay--worth a detour!

My husband and I had dinner here tonight, and overall it was a really memorable experience. We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

They have regular specials which are often very good, a recurring special seems to be their uni and toro on a crispy base (yam if I remember correctly), which is always served with the seafood fresh and the base warm and crunchy! They also have great non-seafood options, I recently got the spicy lamb skewer, which was served warm, and seasoned and cooked to perfection. The restaurant is a pretty decent size, if you come early evening it's easy to get seated right away, but it gets pretty popular as the evening goes on!

Whether I stop by for lunch or dinner, the food, service, and overall experience remain reliably good every single time. On my latest visit, the Mango Spider Roll was a standout. It was fresh, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, though I will admit I am biased since mango is my favorite fruit. My ultimate guilty pleasure, however, is the sushi pizza. If you have never tried it, do yourself a favor and order one. It deserves all the praise it gets. The service is consistently friendly and attentive, which is one of the many reasons I keep returning year after year. Parking can depend on what is happening nearby, since street parking is the main option, but I have never had to circle the block more than a couple of times to find a spot. The restaurant also has plenty of seating, and in all my visits over the years, I have never had to wait. Reliable, welcoming, and delicious, this is the kind of neighborhood favorite that earns its place in your regular rotation.
