Street Parking Sign on Sidewalk, Street Parking on Broadway

Wanted to get their Authentic Chai. We almost got through the payment process, but then barista remembered the burners were out of stock. So, I got an iced chai latte instead. It's cozy inside. One wall has a mural; the other has succulents, and there is a shelf of some board games. Parking is street parking on Broadway. They have a "reserved space" according to one of the signs in the sidewalk. I left pretty content, and would come back again. Had some of the chai latte instead the car, and finished up the rest near the Japanese Garden.

Cozy little coffee shop with some great coffee! The first time I visited I tried the dirty chai and it was SO yummy! Second time going, I tried one of their fall specials (cookie butter latte) and that was equally as good. It's the perfect location outside of the pearl and has a good amount of seating indoors & outdoors. The staff are always so helpful and kind as well which makes the experience that much more enjoyable for the customer :)

Decided to tryout this place. There used to be a different coffee shop here years ago in our experience. Here was not that great. Now this is a new ownership with a new name and I can tell you it is way better than the previous place. I tried their lavender Matcha iced and it was delicious. I had them use whole milk and you could taste the hints of lavender and still get some Matcha flavor so it wasn't overpowering. The staff here is very friendly so with just that alone our experience here has been way better than it was with the previous ownership. The decor here is really nice very laid-back metro vibe. Really nice place to come have a cup kick back bring a book/laptop and chill.

This Indian fusion coffee/chai shop did not disappoint. I ordered the Strawberry Matcha, it was really delicious. The owner prepared it and he was very courteous and I highly recommend this place for your chai/coffee experience!

Love this place. It's quiet, comfortable, and the coffee is tasty. The owner gets the importance and benefit of a solid study space! I've been to so many places and they are either too loud, too cold, or not open late enough (super weird but a lot of coffee joints close at like 4-5 pm in SAT). They play chill music, have a comfy temp that doesn't make my body regulate between the extremes of hell, and this place closes at 8 pm. I super recommend this place! The owner is very friendly! ALSO! Free parking on front for customers

Best authentic Indian chai around, friendly staff and cozy atmosphere to sit and enjoy. Also appreciate the customer street parking right in front. Love!!

Coffee search continued. Spot on Broadway located, close to the Pearl. Parking near to place limited, but got lucky and found a spot in front. Amaretti Coffee decor is black wooden chairs with standard wood tables. Cute signs with sayings. Leafy wall splash in one area and impressive San Antonio mural on another wall. Comfy seating on couches in corner. More luck. The order was a Masala Chai and two regular drip coffees. Drips were respectable and chai delicious. Good coffee menu selection and quick service. Prices match other coffee shops: Masala Chai $3.00, Drip $3.00-$4.00. Self Promise: come back and try other Chai.

My first impression was that they were not open ... no sign in the window, and the lights were down low. Tugged on the door and walked in. The shop looked disheveled.. items unorganized on counters, cleaning supplies out on the floor, and I could go on. They do have a very cool painting of downtown on the wall. So what .. I came for coffee. The staff member did not acknowledge me, stood there, and was waiting for me to talk. It was obvious I saw no menu, but she offered no help. Ordered a regular cup of coffee and scone. Told her I was staying in. She still gave it to me in to go containers. The coffee was still brewing, though I am not sure why. They had been open for 20 minutes and she had one customer. The coffee was nutty but a little on the burnt side. Overall, it's not a good experience.

I haven't been to this side of Broadway in a minute; the last time I was here Brown Coffee still inhabited this location. Since then, Amaretti Coffee took over and they seem to keep the vibe going. The shop was mostly empty the day I decided to visit, with a customer in the corner quietly working. Another came in, plugged in her laptop, and also started to work. One sole barista manned the shop. She was very sweet. I ordered two drinks: A cortado and a latte. Both had very photogenic latte art, so props for the barista's pouring skills! The drinks were smooth and not overly acidic or bitter. My favorite thing, though, was that they were playing episodes of Bob Ross's The Joy of Painting. Even though it was on mute, it still made the overall visit very lovely.

Love it here, their coffee is delicious and they have a cute shop to sit around and relax. I haven't had a coffee from here that wasn't good. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely try this place at least once!

    Masala Chai
    Nanda K.

The place was nice and clean. Looks like a decent place to hangout. But the masala chai and the golden chai weren't up to the mark. They are charging to use a credit card which is insane. Is there a board showing we have to pay the credit card fees or did the employee ever tell us about it?

Nice little place on Broadway, but espresso is pretty burn and bitter tasting even in a cappuccino. Needed sweetener to make it palatable.
    Tom W.

I really enjoy good dark espresso roasts and cappuccino is my favorite style. I always start with that on my first visit anywhere. This is a nice little espresso bar with good service, plenty of seating and a pleasant urban ambiance with a few street-side parking spots for their customers only. But I am giving it only 3 stars because the espresso tastes harsh and burnt, very bitter even in a cappuccino. I had to add 2 packets of stevia to smooth it out and cover it up. The best places are able to finesse their espresso with such a smooth and pleasant flavor that no enhancement is needed. I think with some improvement in the espresso, this would be a place I would come back to when I am in this area. It would certainly be adequate if I lived in the residential structure that it is ensconced in.

Industrial chic Cafe with cold and sticky metal tables and seats without cushions. (My derriere needs a padded seat.) I had the dirty Chai, 5 stars. Wife had the golden milk with oat milk, 4 stars, the grainy turmeric texture might turn off some. The place wasn't offering soy milk. Friendly service, quick. Parking is tricky, scant street parking on Broadway, best to park around the corner and walk the last 400 ft. The bathroom was tidy, bravo. The toilet is midnight black, these people understand how coffee works, 5 stars.

They were nice enough to warm the cookie for me, and it had that "fresh out of the oven" smell and gooeyness. They asked me if I wanted my drinks for here or to-go and I said for here and they still served me in to-go cups, which I thought was weird. The cortado was not my favorite. It was bitter and acidic and the foam was looking a little yeasty. The mocha latte also had very little flavor to it, tasting like hot milk. I had difficulty finishing both drinks. Later I noticed they were using What's Brewing beans, and it made sense. I know many folks love WB? coffee beans, as it's a bit of a local darling, but more often than not I don't enjoy cortados made with their beans. Dirty dishes and cutlery sat on a couple of tables long after folks had left. I don't want to make assumptions, because there WAS a designated staff member for cleaning/wiping things down, but maybe those two evaded her. There's a sign on the wall that says, "I'm not for everyone," and boy are they right. They also stopped playing one of my favorite Radiohead songs (right in the middle of it!) to play Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. Now while I'm not deducting stars for THAT (because that's just downright petty), I can't help but feel unimpressed by my most recent visit. At least the cookie was delicious. Perhaps a third visit is in order. As they say, third time's a charm, right?

I've always had a great experience at Local Coffee Founders at The Pearl. Their cold brew is a reliable thirst quenching caffeinated option if you're in the area, and they offer all of the coffee shop staples you'd expect. During peak hours, this isn't the coffee shop I'd come to for relaxation or to get some work done on my laptop, the interior is small, seating is limited, and the ambient noise is louder than you'll find in other places. They're dog friendly, but I would recommend going with someone that can wait outside while you order or vice versa. Service has always been fairly good, but you'll definitely want to listen closely for them to announce your order is ready. There's ample seating outside in the adjacent courtyard and The Pearl District in general. I like to get coffee here when I'm already in the area, especially during the weekend markets, but this isn't the place I'd come to get coffee otherwise. As with most businesses at The Pearl you're going to be paying a comparative premium to the cost of similar goods elsewhere. Things worth knowing ahead of time: Ample parking at The Pearl, cost varies based on the time and day of the week though. I believe it's still free weekdays before 3pm, and always free for the first 30 minutes. Expect to walk a bit regardless of where you park, as there is no parking directly adjacent to the cafe.

I haven't been to a CIA restaurant since I went to the one in Napa many years ago. We arrived around noon and were seated immediately as not many people were dining there except for a party of about 8 people in one table and 2 people in a bar top table in the other room by the pastries. A couple of people came in to buy pastries to go. Kiana was our student server and explained the concept. They're only open from February til April for that particular semester and in August for another semester with students operating both front and back of house in the kitchen. The proceeds from the restaurant sales goes towards the Students' Graduating Fund to help with the costs of schooling. The students can experience serving customers and cooking. The chef has a Basque background so his menu is French-Spanish inspired according to Kiana. My friend and I thought this was a great cause! We perused the menu but I zeroed into the Queen Vol Au Vent because it reminded me of the Chicken A La King in Pastry Shells dish I used to make when we used to have big family Christmas parties. I wanted to see their version. I asked Kiana what the pastry shells were filled with since the menu says it's filled with the "Chef's choice Velouté" and she said chicken and mushrooms in a cream sauce. Perfect! My friend got the Egg Croissant & Petit Salade with a side of Bacon & Home Fries. While they were preparing our dishes, I walked up to the pastry case to see what they had to offer. They had cookies, Raisin Bread rolls, Conchas, Manchego & Sausage Scone, Alfajor Dulce de Leche, a Passion Chocolate dessert, fruit tarts, Napoleon, Baguettes and some bagged items: Palmiers, Chocolate coated Nuts and Toffee. I asked one of the chefs how much the bag of Toffee cost and she said $3.80 so I said I'll buy a bag. My friend was curious to see what they had so she also picked up a bag of Toffee. My friend also ordered a cup of brewed coffee. Our dishes came and I noticed how huge my friend's Egg Croissant looked! It was nicely laminated and the egg filling looked nice and creamy. The bacon was thickly sliced and my friend said there was a slight sweetness, perhaps maple? She gave me a piece and it was pretty tasty, meaty and wasn't greasy, nor salty. My Queen Vol Au Vent wasn't quite as big as I thought it would be but the chicken filling was ample. The Petit Salade on the side were just dry greens and wasn't a very big portion either. It could've used more dressing as it was lacking moisture. Perhaps some sliced Heirloom Cherry tomatoes would've been nice to accompany the dry pastry shell Vol Au Vent dish and add a pop of color too. When we were paying our bill, Kiana said the bagged Toffees were on the House since they just opened so we were pleasantly surprised and thankful! Another server asked my friend if she'd like more coffee or if she'd like it in a to-go cup so she took that option. I noticed the students were clearing out the pastries and bread so I asked Kiana what they did with the excess, unsold pastries? She said they take inventory, donate or throw them away except for the bread which is frozen and sold the next day. We told her we hoped it was given away since they're perfectly fine and for a good cause. There was an instructor's birthday today so the students and staff sang "Happy Birthday" by the kitchen. That was nice. We paid our bills and before leaving I used the co-ed restroom which was very clean and spacious. We sat outside so they could buss our tables and we continued talking outside. Can't wait to come back again before the semester ends!

Although it is small, it's well-designed and well-laid out. The staff is really sweet and patient if it's your first time visiting. The breakfast croissant sandwich is the perfect amount of food, not to mention a well-balanced meal. The lamination is just proper- a buttery, flaky crunch. If you plan on getting goodies from the bakery, they can take your dine-in check and adjust the price to add those items. The variety can be a bit overwhelming but trust your gut. There's nothing terrible, since the quality of the ingredients and technique were on point. My favorite was the white chocolate pretzel cookie, so I'd like to return and try the other flavors. I love that a portion of your bill also funds the scholarship program, which makes you feel good about the entire experience.
