Amaya Restaurant is a beautiful place with delicious food and excellent service. Lady was our server and took great care of us with warmth and professionalism. My husband ordered the Guajillo Braised Boneless Short Ribs, which were cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. In my case, the scallops were slightly overcooked and a bit tough, and the corn purée was a little too spicy for my personal taste. The fry bread and the Picuris salad were excellent and truly memorable. The restaurant is located inside the beautiful Hotel Santa Fe and offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere, with a wood-burning fireplace and a very friendly staff. We wanted to try Native American food and try the teepee experience. Make sure when you call to make reservations you confirm the time as we were told 6:00 but then found out you can only do 5:00 or 7:00 (it's a 2 hour experience). Also make sure to check the bill and if anything seems off, ask there! Thankfully the restaurant was able to explain the bill after we had left where there were errors (we were charged the $75 teepee fee plus a 20% service charge that included the teepee, drinks, and food). Overall though the food was good. We had a newer waiter that was unfamiliar with the process so that was aggravating but overall the food was delicious. We did the set $90 price fix menu. The quail was the best part. My fiancé was upset because his entree was cold but at least the other three of us had warm food. Food- Tucked inside the classic Hotel Santa Fe is Amaya, a restaurant that offers a taste of authentic Southwest cuisine. I would highly recommend sticking to the Southwest options, as these are where the kitchen truly shines. Having grown up in the region, I can attest to the authenticity of dishes like the green chili enchilada and the huevos rancheros, which they absolutely nail. For a great start to your meal, we ordered the chips, salsa, and guacamole trio. We also ordered the chicharrones separately, but they were not seasoned as described on the menu. While the food is a highlight, the bar could use some improvement. The drink prices are amazing, but the drinks themselves aren't mixed very well. My Old-Fashioned was served in a copper tin cup (better suited for a mule), and in another instance, a bartender put a spilled olive from my martini, which had fallen on the bar mat, back into the drink. Ambiance - The ambiance at Amaya is a breath of fresh air. It features open seating with an airy, light, and refreshing feel. The combination of skylights and open doors creates a very well-lit and inviting space that perfectly complements a sunny Santa Fe day. It's a comfortable and relaxing environment to enjoy a meal. Service - The wait staff is very friendly and attentive, adding to the pleasant dining experience. They were quick to seat us and made sure we were taken care of throughout our meal. Took over 30 minutes for my entree to come out when the restaurant was completely empty. Ordered a cup of corn chowder and scallops for my entree. Soup was glorified milk and corn. Came out with visible unmelted shredded cheese still in. Scallops came with pork belly and both were severely overcooked to the point where both scallops and pork belly were hard and I was unable to cut through it. Sat there clearly not touching my food for over 15 min and no one came to check on me. I had to look over to the kitchen where the servers were very loudly chatting and took a couple minutes before they noticed me staring and came by. Server was unhelpful and didnt seem to care. The actual dish had so much potential. It would've been a 5 star dish of the proteins were not disgustingly overcooked. Can't recommend this place. read more

I just checked my review and noticed that it was in a side bar to the right and not in the main body of the page so I'm updating this with the suggestion for future patron to reconsider if you're looking for a special meal....go elsewhere! we made reservations for the special Christmas dinner for $95.00/person and was told we could order early so we could attend an event Afterwards. Ricardo told us we could make a 1:30 reservation for this special dinner and that we could order individual items to accommodate a vegetarian in our group. The waitstaff would not accommodate our early order request and was very rude, she was not helpful with the vegetarian order and checked with the chef and took forever getting back with us. The vegetarian ordered mushrooms risotto and received maybe two tablespoons of that a potato cake that was probably 1/4" x 3" and was so small he couldn't tell by taste what it was, he also ordered Charred Broccolin which was not charred, it was microwave, cold with hard stem and florets fallen off and not there. He had a very discussing plate full of worthless food for 95$. another member of our group had the duck, it was all fat and no meat. We all know that duck is fatty but at least a sliver of meat which he did not receive. The chocolate bread pudding was so dry my friend poured some of his beer on it to moisten it. We had asked the rude waitress to put two dinners on one ticket and a separate ticket for the other person. The waitress could not figure that out so she split the bill evenly. I went back to have the bill adjusted and had to wait forever for the manager to show up to correct the bill and he did the same a split two ways. He could not figure this out either. This restaurant should not be having holiday specials and not delivering to customers. If their help is not able to work on Christmas or if they can't get capable help staff they should not offer these specials. I'm very dissatisfied and disappointed with our experience and I suggest this establishment shut down, train the staff and not dissapppoint future patrons. read more

I have eaten many times at Amaya in the last 13 years and have never had any problems. Food , service have always been good and making me anxious to return. Regrettably my last meal was probably my last. It was Christmas Day, crowded , staffing was poor. The food was cold and not at all tasty.. I realize it was a busy holiday. The price of the meal was not worth what we were served . I was unable to have the dessert as I am lactose intolerant and was given some unripe pineapple which was uneaten. In the Santa Fe hotel. We were staying there. Only had dessert and breafast there. We ate the dessert, a small but good chocolate cake with ice cream, in front of the fireplace. We ate breakfast one morning. It was outrageos. Luckily we brought tea and coffee from the lobby. Small glasses of milk and orange juice were 4 dollars each. It was not stated on the menu or by our server. My wife ordered the 2 eggs however you like it for 14 dollars. Shecwas asked what meat she wanted. Surpris the chorizo was a 6 dollar charge and the cheese another 1.50. That made it 21.50 for eggs some cantaloupe and potatoes. I got a omelette and it listed items to choose from. I chose ham, bacon, sausage and veggies. The waiter said you can only have 1 meat. That cost 18 dollars. Our total bill was over 50 dollars. A total ripoff. Located inside the Hotel Santa Fe where we were staying, this was a very convenient place to eat late at night after a long day. First of all, we had a super friendly and excellent server! She definitely made our experience for us, nor made us feel bad for arriving late, closer to closing time. I love that! Hubby and I both had burgers with hand cut fries and tempura onions. We decided to try Amaya as a large group. It was recommended to us by one of our colleagues. So off we went, a group of 15 semi-confused adults walking from our hotel to Amaya's, which was only .8 miles away. Unfortunately, it took us much longer to get there. One can say, too many chefs in the kitchen? We finally arrived. It was a nice night, so we sat outside. They weren't expecting us - even though we "allegedly" made a reservation. They were quick to accommodate us by pushing a number of small tables together. It was fine. Again, a beautiful night. The food was ok. I had the cod, which was the favorite at the table. Again, just ok. The service was ok as well. They would not split checks, which made a few folks panicked, but not to worry, Venmo to the rescue! They were short staffed and took awhile to get our order, one of the staff had no clue what she was doing. The drinks were very good. This is the wonderful inhouse restaurant of the Hotel Santa Fe. In covid times, the menu for breakfast and dinner was somewhat limited, and yet the choices were delicious.
