Amazon Fresh is a unique stop that offers a small selection of items. It reminds me of a cross breed of Aldi and Grocery Outlet. I am not sure it is a place for a full grocery haul. There are a few unique snack items here. However, I discovered I can get the same items for cheaper online via Amazon. I came here with my parents for a St. Pattys Day Corn Beef. They were sold out. No no no thank you! When this store first opened and we were all lured in with magnificent coupons, it was alright. I bought my produce here for juicing, but had to really check dates and look closely at everything. There was a lot of rotten produce, empty shelves, and a truly depressing atmosphere here. At least play some music! When the coupons stopped coming, so did I. I gave this store one more chance, only to find myself with food poisoning from their curry Cauliflower at the hot bar. A former Bristol Farms then Vintage Grocers, Amazon Fresh is going to try to make it in this spot of the Westlake Village Promenade. Well, good luck to that. Mostly grocery, but it has the feel of an Aldi, a little of this and that. While that's actually good, I don't like the layout, branding/colors, and overall merchandising. Not warm at all, and not inviting. Prices vary from good to fair to high, not my experience with Amazon prices online. They've added a live cashier, but they still have (and push) the automated process. So, in a pinch, I would go again. But not replacing any of the standards: Trader Joe's, Ralphs, Whole Foods, Gelson's. read more

Saw those bright green balloons calling me to hurry on in. Didn't plan to go today, yet, there I just was. There was a bit of a line to enter as everyone scans there QR code before going in, that way items you choose and place in your cart are accounted for in your tab. Very techy!! Just love this shopping concept!! Folks working here without exception are polite, helpful and kind. There are a fair number of organic produce items, gotta know your prices though. Shelves are stocked, there's a seafood counter, a meat counter, a sushi counter, and freshly baked pizza available whole or individual slices and more, even popular books ! What an interesting way to shop. The produce was top notch & some of the best produce I have seen around. It was weird shopping & then just use a code on my phone, walking out. I was apprehensive but yeah, I was charged correctly for everything I purchased. It's a very small store & selection is limited. I think that's my biggest complaint, limited selection. Not everything I would have purchased was in stock This wouldn't be the first market I would go to because of the limited selections. The discounts for being a prime member was nice but I think I save more at the bigger stores with their digital & in store coupons. read more

I have to admit, Jeff you need to raise the bar! The quality of the food has been extremely disappointing. I've gone and bought their sliced turkey the Dietz Watson on several occasions, but this was my last. Every time I get it it's bad the following day today I bought some and was on the run as soon as I tasted it in the car it was bad. I don't understand why it's so difficult to get it right?? Ralphs Vons pavilions and yes, Whole Foods gets it right but for some reason this store is just subpar. I hope somebody sees this and wakes up or are you really in that much need of write- offs!!! nothing is appetizing in the place. Amazon Fresh From the review, it seems really expensive like Wholefoods and we are curious to check it out ourselves to verify whether this is true. It was open in October and everything is relatively new and in order. All the lighting fixtures are working and it is really bright that makes it look neater. All the hundreds of cameras are not so visible that make you feel more comfortable without feeling your privacy is invaded. Overall, that is the technology to ensure your shopping. I got a cup of coffee for $1.99 and consumed inside before check out. I also got lobster tails for $7.99 per count. And the rotisserie chicken is $4.69 or somewhere around that just like what CostCo offers. It is actually not that expensive and instead, some are cheaper than others. When you are a Prime member of Amazon, you get 5% back. When you are not a member of Amazon, it is just like a regular supermarket. When you are the member, you can enjoy the latest technology to shop, bag and walk out by scanning your QR code from your Amazon app, a very modern and futuristic feeling of shopping. They still have people help you at the entrance and exit, don't worry about being a member or not. You scan the QR code to enter or walk the guest gate, and QR code or traditional cashier's lane to check out. I believe soon in the future, most of the supermarket will be like this since this cuts down the human and error to maximize their profit. It is a unique experience and this place is really nice. It has Barnes and Nobles bookstore as well as Shake & Shack among others. Parking is not an issue here and Amazon Fresh is right the entrance when we enter this place. I like it and I verified that not everything is expense, instead, it is cheaper (Kikoman soy sauce is $2.99 a bottle at meat department). They also employee non native speakers to work there and I like this American spirit. By the way, the coffee is good. Try almond croissant before it is sold out. read more

If you want a creepy dark grocery shopping experience where your every move is being watched by hundreds of cameras in a silent warehouse like setting, look no further. This was the first time I've ever felt anxiety at a grocery store. It felt like Bezos himself personally designed it. I'm actually a frequent Amazon app shopper (unfortunately it's too convenient), but this experience really made me question that habit. I would go to literally any other grocery store out there and avoid this place. For a basic idea- as you enter, you use the app to create a QR code. That action then I guess opens the door to them watching your every move tracking exactly what you pick up. At the end, you scan the QR code at the exit. You don't have to check out with a human or a machine - the cameras have been tracking you the whole time and recording what you take. It's not perfect though. I helped a nice older shorter lady out and they thought I was taking something off the high shelf for myself and charged me for it. Had to call later once they emailed my receipt, to tell them that item wasn't for me. They deleted it. I just felt like there's a lot more data gathered than simply what you're buying or not buying. It felt like a weird science fiction book of a dystopian future. I think humanity isn't heading the right direction if we're accepting of this type of shopping experience. Seriously I'm not typically this person who reviews places and concludes with philosophical thoughts but this place did that to me. Think we should all boycott; I'd much prefer a Whole Foods here (I know Amazon bought that too but it's a much nicer, brighter, happier experience). read more

I am massively disappointed as a long time customer of Amazon. As many people on Christmas day received gifts from love ones from Amazon and had included gift receipts, it could be a 100 different reasons why an intended gift did not work. For me, for my Google Pixel Buds Pro, it was simple; I got the color fog and I wanted black. No big deal, or so I thought. On January 1, I head to Amazon fresh in Westlake, California and with Pixel Buds and gift receipt in hand I proceed to drop off my return. Talk about speed and convenience! Well no, no speed and no convenience. I give the customer service representative my product and my gift receipt. The associate says that I first have to log into my Amazon account.... Ok that's weird, next I have to scan my gift receipt's QR code and pick a location to drop off the item. I selected the wrong location and the associate said no problem I can fix it on my end. I said perfect. The associate then prints a label, slaps it onto my unopened, brand new cellophane wrapped product and expresses to me " You will see a credit on your account in 10 minutes to an hour. I said do I get a receipt or confirmation of drop off he said when the credit is issued it will come. It feels weird to me but I accept it. We are now on day 7 and I have yet to get my credit for the item so I can simply exchange it for the color of my liking. Your service representatives the 5 that I spoke to told me that per Amazon's gift exchange policy that this is would take 14 minimum to show up. This is unacceptable and not competitive at all. For example: if I got the same gift from Best Buy, and tried to exchange or return the said item I am issued a gift card or the item of choice in that same moment. Amazon is known for speed and convenience this neither speedy or convenient. It's slow and a nuisance. This experience leads me to believe that it's better to choose other retailers when receiving or giving gifts because I know that other retailers will not make a gift turn into a hassle. If I knew that a refund would still take two weeks minimum I could have sent off my product INSTEAD OF dropping it off at the Amazon Fresh customer service. I gave Amazon Fresh my Pixel Buds, and in exchange of that transaction I have NOTHING to show for it. This has been an awful experience and I sincerely.hope that I am an outlier and not norm. I literally don't understand the point of this store. The selection is horrible; if you want name-brand junk food, this is the store for you. One pasta brand options? No couscous? No pine nuts? No healthy granola bars? Also, their produce section is very sad. There is no range of seasonal items and when the only option is organic for twice the price of what sprouts sells it for, it's ridiculous. I'm also super disappointed about the amount of waste; so many things are "by item" price, they put them in bags that are non-recyclable. Why are so many things in bags? The only positive is the prepared food selection. That's the only thing I'll go in for after this last trip. Though the last time they charged me double what I got and I had to request a refund, so make sure you check your receipt ... on top of everything else. read more

Then we had to call Amazon customer service - twice- to have it removed. I don't think it was anything shady, I'm sure the system just malfunctioned. I've been to this store several times, and like many others have said, they often do not have the sale items that they have advertised. In addition to this, I have often been asked to provide the prices of items at checkout. I then have had to go back to the sections where I found the items, take a picture of the price, and then show it at the register. I would say that the prepared foods section and the bakery have some great items, but other than these, there aren't many redeeming factors. read more

Expensive; many items out-of-stock; very limited organic items; limited choices-brands; poorly trained staff; and, most surprisingly the "high-tech" to get into or get out of the store is absolutely useless & often didn't work. I know lots of data analytics is happening for Amazon Fresh...but, when I asked where I can find the refrigerated fresh salsa the store clerk in the produce department told me "we don't carry fresh salsa, we only have salsa in jars" -- REALLY in SoCal you don't sell fresh salsa...plus, the word "fresh" is in the store name! We bought a berry pie from this location and it was a hair in side the pie. I noticed it at home . Next day I came to the store to refund or exchange it. Since i did not have a receipt manager refuse to give my money or store credit. She said it is not our fault because we don't bake these pies. This is absolutely ridiculous customer service and manager is not professional!!! Such a great location and such an awful female manager! If I could give this place zero I would this is the second time they have wasted my time and im done with them. There prices are good but there service sucks 2 weeks ago I ordered a $200 aprox grocery order for delivery they kept pushing my window for delivery back and back and then said they cancelled my order on the app after i waited all day when I called there customer service line in barely speaks english in Vietnam they said sorry we dont have driver. If only someone could have told me that instead of me coming home twice to supposedly take my groceries in of the door step. Well Im not one to judge to quickly so 2 weeks later today i tried for a delivery again. Ordered early at 5am window was for 2-4 delivery got a text saying delivery got pushed again to 4-6 pm so I went to the store to see if I could pick up my order, sir you cant pick up your order, me can you tell me if my order has left, them sorry sir we have no way of telling we suggest you cancel the order. At my frustration and madness the customer service rep started to laugh at me when i turned my back because I was annoyed but i caught him when I said that it wasn't funny at all to laugh at a customers frustration because of their lack of customer service he made some excuse that he wasent laughing at me. So i told them the place sucked and I would vent my views online and warn anyone to shop there at your own risk and never to use there delivery service because it truly sucks. shopping in store is also such a pain the store is always out of the sale items and there are cameras everywhere the contactless shopping often ends up with over charging then having to deal with sorry in Vietnam again to try and get a refund what a pain. There are cameras everywhere there, as there are in nearly everyplace we go. Deal with it or have groceries delivered to your home... It is not where I go for regular shopping, all the worst is due to horrible choices in Westlake Village - Vons and Ralph's - the worst stores in the Conejo Valley. It seemed to take forever for this store to open, but since it has, I've visited 3 or 4 times. They must have improved their reorder system; despite other reviewers complaints of depletion, I've always found what I wanted. Getting through the turnstile is a bit ponderous. There's a difference in the Amazon app and Amazon Alexa. Gotta use the app. Somehow you get a QR code on your phone, then put the phone's screen over a scanner if you can figure out what flat shiny thing is the right scanner. If you have a card attached to your Amazon account online, it defaults to using that as a payment method. If you scan a different card at the entrance, it'll use that instead. Before you go, be sure to look for a coupon. For me, the best ones come in the mail on Wednesday with all the other ones: Ralph's, Aldi, Vallarta Market, Vons (sometimes), so I need to really look for it. It will not only give you a coupon, it will tell you what's on special. If you combine the specials with the coupon, you can get out of there for a decent bottom line total. I doubt I'd ever make this store a regular go-to for weekly grocery shopping, but there are some unexpected things here. The produce department has a broad selection of fresh herbs. Sometimes it's hard to find dill when I need it. They always have it. In the same department are the exotic mushrooms. I've never seen them out of shiitake. They usually have oyster, and sometimes enoch and king. There's also a mushroom medley pack with 4 or 5 types. I have bought steak, ground beef, and bacon on sale. All good quality and no surprises. In the aisles, sometimes there are nice surprises. I found a 12-pack of diet cherry coke for a decent price. In the deli department are some interesting marinated or pickled things: sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and uncured anchovies for instance. In the personal care section I found a face scrub for under two bucks. Their personal care section is super small, cleverly tucked at the end of the cat food aisle. The only way I found it was to ask one of the Alexas in the store. "Alexa? Where's the toothpaste?" Cool, she told me where to find it. I encountered only one unpleasant surprise last time I was there. Have you ever watched Dateline and noticed the interrogation techniques the cops use to "interview" a suspect? The perp will say something, then the male interrogator will say, "OK" in a deep monotone. There's a lot of that, which means, I heard what you said, but have no response. There's a 300lb wanna-be cop in the wine department. As soon as you step over an imaginary line of demarcation, he descends upon you, asking for ID. Not just a visual check. Take it out of the wallet. Scan it. (Why?) I attempt lighten up the encounter, saying I should be flattered I was being carded. His response, "OK." I walk to the white wine section and note that they don't have anything I want. He asked if I was looking for something. I mentioned my favorite. After glancing at the shelves, he advised they must not have it. I lightly said I just wanted to see what's there, it's fine. His response: "OK." Gimme a break, dude. You're a bouncer at Amazon Fresh. Not a homicide detective. This is Westlake Village, not a crime center. Intimidation is not only unnecessary, it's downright unpleasant. That self-important mall cop needs to go. Sorry not sorry... The checkout process is very quick. Usually you can just leave. If you have a coupon, scan it first on the way out. It's pretty simple. At exit, the accuracy of charges is not evident. The receipt is emailed later... like, after arriving home. Each time I've been to this store, though, everything was accurate. Not the case with the Moorpark store. It overcharged me by about 20 bucks and did nothing to correct it. I think, if you need to pick up a few things for tonight's dinner, you'll probably find it here without needing to sort through a gozillion brands of the same thing. Sometimes standard supermarkets are overwhelming. Because of its efficiency with product selection, along with the Just Walk Out feature, you can get in and out with 7-11 speed without the big gulp. And this one is no different: Not any semblance of warmth, all black shelves, very basic items, and nothing like Whole Foods Market or Sprouts. Must show ID that is scanned to enter the liquor section! Of course Amazon will be able to keep it going, thanks to deep pockets, but I won't be coming back. OK, so I could deal with the cameras hanging from the ceiling watching you shop if you're an Amazon Prime subscriber. I could also deal with the store asking scan your driver's license to look at wines to get your personal information. -- I just don't buy wine there. But the 'straw that broke the camel's back' was the store won't provide their phone number. There is an 800 number listed. I called it and the Option 1 was something about ordering on Amazon. Option 2 is 'customer service.' It turns out that it is Amazon's customer service! It has nothing to do with the store! So if you want to call the store to see if they have something in stock or not, you can't! I guess they figure that you will drive to the store, instead! Fresh and Easy or Amazon Fresh? As a long time share holder of AMZ with 40 years in grocery 7 with WFM I continue to be disappointed with AF. They have a identity crisis, they lack the service, products or merchandising to attract high end shoppers. On the other hand they lack the product and prices to attract value shoppers. The design and display of their customer service meat and seafood departments are poorly thought out, labor intensive with a high probability of excess shrink. The self service meat and seafood was scattered and poorly stocked and I do think poor systems and not strong sales are the cause. Produce selection, display and pricing had no direction, Center store was out of stock on many sale items. Prepared foods looked OK. All of their issues reminds me of Fresh and Easy. Two ... Billion dollar companies that lack the understanding to design and stock a new grocery store.
