Best experience I've had in Eugene for a long time. The service was outstanding. You would never go thirsty or hungry waiting for your food. Our waiter, Dennis, was phenomenal. Always somewhere in the background gauging our intake without being invasive. The vibe is so romantic. The mood is set with Tiffany style lamps strategically placed throughout the room creating a relaxing feel. The food was amazing. Locally bought products, homemade dough for calzones and pasta. The best restaurant service in Eugene. I even remember our waiter's name, Hunter. He was excellent in helping me choose a glass of wine which was the Pinot Gris 2013 from Willamette Valley. And was very timely with the way our food came out. The food was excellent, we ordered a spaghetti and lasagna, and yes the noodles were noodles, but the sauce on both dishes was the best and just to die for! It reminded me of my Noni's sauce, but of course, nothing is better than my Italian grandmother's recipes . But their sauce was pretty dang close to it! I enjoyed the date I had here with my boyfriend who is coming near to his time to start basic training, so this restaurant will hold a special place in my heart since it was one of the last we went to before he goes off to learn to serve our nation. read more

Came in for my boyfriends birthday on Saturday. We had a reservation for 7:45 but didn't get sat until about 8:20ish (they close at 9) which was fine because they were pretty busy. Looked like most tables were full as well as the bar. There were some people without reservations that got sat before us tho which was kinda weird. Got our food and drinks ordered finally and realized it was just about to be closing time, so when our waiter came back with our bread, apps and drinks we told him to just have our order packed to go so we could get out of his hair. He had quite a few tables left and I work in the restaurant industry and know it can be pretty frustrating having that many people there past closing. Our server was awesome btw. When we got home to eat our food I realized that I was given the incorrect pasta, and I'm a fairly picky eater and was not interested in what I was given. I ordered the Fettuccine Davide and it looks like what they gave me was maybe the chicken parmesan? Im not quite sure i just know it was not what i ordered. I'll probably try and call once they're open again to see if i can come in to get the pasta I ordered, i've heard good things and was excited to try it. We came from out of state visited some friends for a few days and decided to try Ambrosia because it was recommended a few times. It was good, but pricey. We spent 200 for 4 adults and a 2 year old. And now of that was spent on alcohol. The food was cooked well and tasted good, but nothing to write home about. The place made up for it by just feeling nice. The atmosphere was actually perfect, not snooty, not too casual, just exactly appropriate. My wife said their crème brûlée was on point but I'm not a fan in general so I'll just say the deserts are probably done well. My wife got a drink that was genuinely awful. She tried it and NOPE'd out immediately. So everyone tried it to see if she was just being dramatic and it was unanimously determined to be undrinkable; it might as well have been straight lime juice with a sizable hit of vinegar. We watered this thing down about 4/1 water/drink and it was still rough. Maybe a fluke, maybe we were just not used to drinking battery acid, who knows, but I'd say their drink mixing/making ability is not their strong suit. Serving sizes are about what you'd expect. Not small, but not gratuitous by any standard. Just normal sized portions. I wasn't disappointed or impressed. I'd say it's worth at least one trip. We were happy to have gone. If we lived close I could see it being a nice date night location every few months. But it's not good enough to go any more often, especially considering the price. TL;DR: It was worth trying and I'd recommend it. If you're looking for a new place and haven't tried it then I'd say definitely go at least once. After that decide for yourself if it's worth going again. You won't be disappointed but may not be all that impressed either read more

This was my first time at this restaurant. I went with a group of friends on a Tuesday evening at 7PM. While the dishes had Italian names, I can't honestly say that they were authentic. 50% of our order was not filled because the kitchen was out of the item. I lost any respect for this place when the server informed me I couldn't get an insalata ( salad) because they had run out. The meals, while presented nicely on the plates, were bland, greasy, and overcooked. Yes the server took items off our bill & didn't charge for some drinks. But saving on the bill wasn't why I came here to eat. We should have gone to Olive Garden, since the food here was comparable in its lack of Italian authenticity. read more

Ambrosia is great for pasta, especially the seafood pasta or spaghetti bolognese, which I love ordering during the winter. My absolute favorite offering was a flatbread with arugula and smoked salmon that is no longer offered on the happy hour menu. Happy hour is the best time to visit. We just had the bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms with crab and happy hour pizza special. A local secret is that the ambrosia bar makes great drinks and the ambrosia margarita is just as good as what you can get down broadway at Belly or The Davis. They get 4 stars only for having a mediocre wine list. Ambrosia offers monthly wine classes and after having been to 4, only half were worth attending. This is unfortunate, since at the two tastings we liked we bought half a case at each. I'm still sitting on several bottles of amaroni for a special occasion, wish they had it on the menu. read more

We have been coming in for brunch the past several Sundays. The sourdough French toast is fantastic. I usually get the Aperture Frittata, sort of an open face omelet cooked in their pizza oven. Excellent biscuits and gravy, good service and fair price bring us back each Sunday. read more

Aaah no.....we're out of that too. (This is at 6:30, not closing time). Third time was a charm. After a while, the drinks and starter food were gone, and apparently the wait staff too. No food, no drinks, no water. Finally, after a long dragged out time, we were able to order a second round of drinks (and water refills) and eventually 3 of our meals arrived. But the 4th wasn't ready yet and couldn't be served with the other 3. Really? Steamer clams take the longest to cook? 3 of us ate while the 4th sat and watched us eat. Genuinely confused how this place only has 3.5 stars on here. The atmosphere is incredible and the service is great! It's very nice and cozy in the restaurant and not too loud. My husband went up there and the hostess was nothing short of rude telling us we would be seated next with quite the hotty totty attitude.. Ambrosia has been in Eugene longer than I have, I believe, and I've been here since '83 and I have always enjoyed my dinners there. I am somewhat surprised by the the one and two star reviews, and the bad service or unwillingness to correct a bad dish just doesn't seem to flow with my experiences. Having been thinking of Italian food for a couple days, my wife and I decided Ambrosia would be our destination after hiking Silver Falls! Eugene is definitely a town where dress code does not really seam to matter to most folks, and we were dusty and certainly not dressed for a special occasion, however, we were greeted and seated with in minutes of arriving. Our server, Kyle, gave us a few minutes to peruse the menu then asked if he could share the specials. He gave us detailed information on the various specials, one of which was a seafood fettuccine which sparked my interest. Now here is the reason for FIVE STARS: I asked if they would be willing to modify it and make it with Cajun spices. The response came back, "how spicy would you like it?" We then went on to discuss some wine ideas and once again Kyle was very knowledgeable on the wines. It seems these days, more often than not, the servers do not know diddly about their wines. We followed Kyle's recommendation and it was excellent, paring well with both my wife's FRESH halibut and my fettuccine. Everyone we had contact with was very pleasant, and even though we were served quicker than expected, it was not to busy. The chef's at Ambrosia are not turning out a Whopper of chicken fingers, the food is serious so maybe you have to wait a bit and if you do, I think you will find it worth the time and effort. My friend put together a special evening - made reservations ahead of time - invited 30 people - so our being there was no surprise. The room wasn't ready when we arrived. Ok, that happens. They seated us in a room with such high ceilings, that the noise was awful. I literally could not talk to the person across the table from me. They set up the tables in such a way, that you couldn't move to mingle. Horrible seating. I'm not sure why a restaurant would only have one server for a party of 30 - but they did. We arrived at 6 pm, got drinks by 7:00 pm. Then since we all wanted to order, I talked with the server (hard working guy) and he said he was still working on taking the drink orders. And they he would take dinner orders as soon as he was done taking drink order. So, we told everyone in our party to STOP ordering drinks, so we could give them our food orders. We finally all ordered. Most people were being served by about 8:00 pm. My dish had gone to the wrong person at the table, so they had to remake my dish I was served at 9:00 pm. Interesting how many of the sun dried tomatoes were frozen. Yes, frozen. I'm not sure why, but when the food was being served - one of the other dinners told me that her pizza was cold, and they eat it as soon as it arrived - all of a sudden a person with pepper and grated cheese showed up. And another women showed up to clear dishes. I'm just wondering where this staff was while we were trying to order... I talked with another friend who had also had a group event at this location, and she had the same experience. If you are looking for a place to have a group, of more than say, 4. Don't come to this restaurant. I'm sorry to say this, and I eat out a lot, I would never come to this restaurant to eat, again, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

My husband and I went to Ambrosia for my birthday. We had heard great things about this restaurant and were excited to try it out. My husband chose one of the specials - a pork chop. The sides that came with this were quite tasty and good but the pork chop was RAW. We sent it back to the kitchen and in just a few minutes it came back on a new plate but no more cooked than before. Had a wonderful time last night at Ambrosia. The ambiance is perfect for a warm, cozy Christmas celebration, the food was terrific, and our server, Mary, was the BEST!
