Ambrosia serves decent Italian food in the heart of Eugene's downtown. I find the prices to not match the quality that is provided and the service has been some of the slowest service I've had since the pandemic restrictions lifted. read more

Two stars for being seated promptly at a wonderful table , fabulous wine list and for our server who was hustling. We travel to Eugene a lot and were excited to try Ambrosia as friends had suggested it. We started with drinks and ordered 4 apps to table. 2 came out promptly. Our server warned us the restaurant was crowded with a party of 40 downstairs so we should place our dinner orders soon. When our other 2 appetizers arrived about 15 mins later we ordered our mains. 60 minutes later - no main courses. We were having fun and enjoying drinks but seemed a little off. 15 mins later we asked about status of our dinner. We were told it would be "at least another 30 minutes". The waiter offered to bring us salads or soups on the house so we got a salad and soup for the table. 45 mins later - our main course arrives. We ordered main course at 7:30pm and got the food at 9:30pm. What's worse? You would presume all dishes would be pipping hot. The calzone - the cheese /insides were cold crust, mildly warm and the scallop plate was luke warm at best. We didn't send anything back because we were afraid we would wait an incredibly long time for it to heat up. 3 of our guests shoveled in some food and boxed some to go and departed as they had to relieve sitters. Before we paid we spoke to the manager - she apologized and blamed the 40 person party who showed up late with more than 40 people. And offered us a free dessert. We don't eat sugar so we declined. However, were somewhat horrified they didn't bother to take at least one dish off the bill. Had they at least made some attempt, I never would have written this review. Came for a visit to Eugene and walked over to this little gem. The restaurant is cute with a clean and elegant interior. They allowed us to sit outside because we had our dog with us. The food came out hot and delicious. The pasta was perfectly cooked. My mom had the seafood cannelloni YUMMY!!! it was perfectly cooked and I could have drank the sauce. Our server was great and the food was good but not great, for the price. I've never been to an Italian restaurant where we've had to pay for bread-ridiculous! The calzone I got came out with a large burnt bubble on top. Besides that it was tasty. My husband got the seafood ravioli and it was just ok. Another issue is the parking. If you go after 6:00, you might find one of the 6-8 free parking spots. Otherwise you have to pay $5.00 at the lot or walk, possibly in the rain. For the price of the food then having to pay extra for parking, bread and salad, we'll be going to one of the other nice Italian restaurants in town from now on. read more

Food was good, service was great and the ambience was nice too. My only complaint was, what they called a beet salad, had at most a half a small beet and was mostly spinach. First of all, I've never had a bad meal here and our waiter was excellent! went to dinner with 2 other couples and we all ordered the Halibut special (about the only fish I'll eat) All of our halibut dishes we seriously way over cooked. Made a trip to Eugene to visit my college-age daughter, and wanted to take her out to a special dinner. Unfortunately, our waiter ruined what was supposed to be a nice experience. My daughter asked a simple question about a particular dish. The sarcasm and flippant tone of this waiters response was so upsetting and embarrassing to her that she discreetly excused herself from the table in tears. He continued to be brusque, almost condescending, throughout the meal with other comments that simply were not necessary. Later, we overheard him making a similarly inappropriate comment to a guest at another table. The food itself was ok, and probably would have been adequate for a repeat visit in the future if the service had not been so poor. Unfortunately, the service experience at Ambrosia spoiled what was meant to be a special family visit, which was truly a shame. read more

Amazing food and worth every penny. (Tip well) they all deserve it!!! The owner takes the time to greet and have small chats with you I mean literally every time we've visited we've talked and he remembers us and his customers, his name is Armen- we have been there 3 times now! It's a go to. There is parking on the side of the building and is pre pay, I highly recommend downloading the CallToPark app for easy and worry free parking, an hour is 4 bucks! Seems pricy but there are some benefits to parking there with the company they use to oversee the lot. Furthermore, this place is a hidden gem- make reservations on Yelp or make a phone call but definitely use Yelp to confirm. If you're coming through town just call they are super accommodating to guests out of town- currently just dine in seating and no sitting at the bar. Ambrosia, Eugene OR Dinner at Ambrosia was disappointing at best. They were able to seat us without reservations. Our server was not normally a server and you could tell. The bottle of wine we ordered before dinner came after the main course. The lobster ravioli had a great sauce but were undercooked. My Fettuccini Davide, a specialty of the house, had well cooked pasta but the sauce was bland with a taste of too much pasta water. The chicken seemed undercooked but unable to verify due to the low lighting. The tiramisu was very good. Not sure I would come back based on the quality of the food for the price we paid. read more

First of all, one should never judge a book by its cover. My sister and I took her sons and their friends out for a nice family dinner. We were seated at a table furthest from the entry. My nephews are college kids so dressed very casual. My sister and I just came back from the coast, dressed very casual. We were judged by our dress code. From my perspective, we were treated as if we could not afford to eat there. The table next to us did not get the game show announcer booming voice. Did not get the condescending tone. This will not be a repeat experience. The food was ok. The pizza had so much grease, it was difficult to eat. Chicken parm was over cooked. For the price, I would expect better quality. Ambrosia came highly recommended. We went for a special occasion anniversary dinner. When making the reservation we mentioned this. Our waitress was pleasant but obviously inexperienced. The calamari appetizer was prepared well, but the Caesar salad was very overdressed (soggy). The seafood ravioli entree was good, but for the cost, not great. Now we tell the sad tale of my filet mignon entree, which on this evening was a special; man, was it not! It was served with broccoli rob and creamy garlic mashed potatoes. I ordered the steak medium rare. It was served raw. Not rare. Raw. I showed this to my server who agreed that the interior was blue. She asked if I wanted another or just add more cook? I don't like sending food back to begin with, so I just said add more cook. Mistake number 1. When the steak was presented the second time, the server stood watching as I cut into it. The cook was just barely moved from raw to very rare. At this point the steak should not have been heated up again as there was no way it was going to remain tender and juicy. This should have been a complete refire. Stupid me, I didn't specify that. Mistake number 2. By the time my entree was presented for the third time, my wife had finished her meal. The steak was still the same piece of meat. The cook was approaching medium rare, the sides had been left under a heatlamp and were hammered. The server left the plate and walked away. I ate the meat anyway. Mistake number 3. I did not ask to speak to the manager. Mistake number 4. No dessert was offered for our anniversary as a comp. No offer of a comp for at least my entree. My assumption is that both the waitress and the person cooking the steak (I will not use the term chef) were both covering their respective butts, and the manager never knew there was a problem with my meal... Or good customer service does not apply at this establishment. I will never eat here again. And I don't recommend you do either! read more

We were so difficult tonight! The person I brought had issues with the intense pork smoked scent that pervaded the restaurant, but Maddy gave us our space to sort it out...please manager, give her a good star tonight! The crab stuffed mushroom appetizer was dry and didn't really have any flavor. When a table of 3 doesn't finish 5-6 mushrooms, you really need to ask why. This didn't happen. Wouldn't order it again. It had been a number of years since eating here. This restaurant has been a Eugene staple for over 45 years that I personally know of. (I do not know how many owners it may have had). But never great. The wait staff was friendly, and the food was not bad, but quite a bit over priced for what it was. The drinks were small and expensive. The desert was fantastic. The atmosphere was strained and confusing. It seemed very disjointed with each person that we interacted with seeming to be independent from the rest and the establishment itself. Very odd. Love the atmosphere here, the low light, music, decor, just a beautiful restaurant! We went for my birthday and heads up if you have a big party they won't split check which I found to be a little crazy. My lasagna was very good just cooked a bit too long on the top to where it was a bit burnt and tough. The owner was there and was so kind and gave me a drink and wished me a happy birthday which was very kind!! That right there will make me return. Our waiter wasn't the best, as soon as you would finish asking for something he would walk off and not ask anyone else if they needed anything, with a big party everyone needed something.
