I went to AMC Theater on December 3 at 5pm to see Chainsaw Man. I am an A-List member and used the order-ahead option to purchase a gourmet caramel popcorn (order #0120343742). When I arrived at the theater, the popcorn was not available. I was told that because the movie had already started, the refund could be done after the movie. It was late and I had my child with me, so I forgot to stop by the counter afterward. I returned on December 6 at 4pm to see Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (confirmation #0333261759). I explained the situation at the counter and asked if I could receive the popcorn this time instead of a refund. I was told no and that the refund had to be done through the app, which was not explained to me during my first visit. The manager (Black lady with red hair) then came over and spoke to me rudely, as if she didn't understand how I did not receive the popcorn when I ordered it. I explained that I ordered through the app, but she repeated that I had to do the refund through the app -- even though there is no option in the app to do this. The overall experience was frustrating, and the lack of clear communication and customer service was disappointing.

This theater is always a hit and miss on which screening room you are going to get. This by far was the most trashiest run down room available. It's a laser screen so we assumed it would be in one of the newer nicer rooms but NOPE. The food is pretty decent and so are the drinks but that doesn't make up for the experience. I like to recline and relax and I felt so unhappy and uncomfortable sitting in this room.

The worst service ever at concessions and overall horrible quality. No wonder no one goes to theaters anymore.

Concession stand lady was extremely rude. Other than that it was an ok experience. I now remember why I don't come to this theater!

The theater staff was friendly, and the atmosphere made for an enjoyable night out. My only minor complaints were that I didn't find the chairs to be as comfortable as I expected, and I had a little trouble getting the QR code ordering system to scan at first since the theater lighting is dark. Once I got it working, everything went smoothly. Despite those small issues, I'd definitely come back. The combination of good food, drinks, and the unique movie-going experience made it a worthwhile visit.

I visited this location of Alamo Drafthouse last weekend for The Substance Movie Party (if you…read morehaven't been to an Alamo Drafthouse movie party, run don't walk...) and had a pretty good time. I left Texas about a decade ago, and - I'm not exaggerating here - people get annoyed by how often I say I miss Texas's movie theaters and grocery stores. The first Alamo Drafthouse was opened in downtown Austin in 1997, but it quickly made a name for itself (more on that below) and expanded around Austin before expanding to other other Texas cities and then outside Texas. It now has 40 locations! So why is Alamo Drafthouse so great? Even from the first location, the theater offered unique programming alongside traditional movie viewing: silent movies scored by local bands as accompaniment, movies served with special menus themed to the film, retrospectives, and more. Also from the beginning, they offered the ability to order food and drink inside the theater, something that not that many theaters were doing at the time. It remains a unique movie theater experience, even as it's been extremely influential nationwide. I can't remember when I saw my first movie at an Alamo Drafthouse (was it when I lived in Austin in 2007-2008 or 2014-2015?!), but after I went for the first time I was hooked. I've seen singalongs (Moulin Rouge), rowdy screenings (Magic Mike XXL), old movies paired with classic cocktails (it was an ongoing series at the Ritz location on Mondays, I think - it's been so long!), and more. I visited this location (how I wish it had been here when I was kid growing up in Lake Highlands) for the first time with my family last weekend. It has some of the great things that most Alamo Drafthouse locations have, but there were a couple of detractors that made me like it a bit less than other locations. First of all - god, it was hot. I was fanning myself with my Monstro Eliasue that was one of our souvenirs for the movie party. I know some people don't like to be cold, but this theater was entirely too warm (my brother who sees movies often at this theater said that's standard for this location). I also found the customer service to be less friendly at this location than others I've been to in the past (no hello when we walked in even though two employees in the entry looked right at us as we entered). Is it my favorite Alamo Drafthouse location? No. If I still lived in Dallas, would I be here on a regular basis? Yes. Alamo Drafthouse is a treasure. I hope it's always around.

I bought tickets from a ticket kiosk downstairs, made my way up the escalator, directed myself towards the correct theater, viewed my movie, and left. Aside from a couple other movie-goers, I did not see another single soul. Not even at the concessions stand. My date jokingly asked, "Why did we even buy our tickets? There was nobody to check!" The theater itself was clean and cozy, with only 16 seats, arranged in pairs on either side of the aisle. We arrived right on time, and sat awkwardly for an extra 15 minutes in front of a blank screen. No previews or anything began until 15 minutes after the scheduled movie time. Again, a very odd experience. Not having seen any employees before, we wondered if there was even anyone to operate the theater. The movie did eventually start, and the experience was smooth sailing from there. I will say, the movie tickets and snacks were cheaper than other, absurdly priced movie theaters. (Judging from the snack listings. I didn't buy any snacks, because again. There was nobody around?) In the end, I wouldn't dissuade anyone from coming for a movie. It was just a strange movie experience.
