Looked like a cool place to have a few drinks and a bite to eat, but unfortunately I couldn't get any service while sitting at the bar.

I visited this bar recently and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with the service. I waited patiently while every other person around me was helped, including a large group that arrived after I did and left before I ever received assistance. For approximately 15 minutes, I tried multiple times to get the attention of three different staff members with no success. When I finally spoke with a staff member, I was told that I had "only tried once," which didn't reflect what had actually occurred. As a customer, there's no way for me to know which employees are responsible for what or why I'm being overlooked--I can only judge the service I receive, and in this case, I was left waiting so long that I became physically shaky from hunger. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but this level of inattention and the dismissive response I received were extremely disappointing. I hope management uses this feedback to improve communication and customer service going forward read more

I came here with some friends because another friend of ours was playing in the band, so we were there to support! Upon entering my immediate impression was "neighborhood dive bar", which is a great description of the place! What really impressed me was that there were people of all ages and backgrounds there that were all getting along well together and having a great time. The service was friendly and decently fast. Hidden gem alert Tried Lone Star Roadhouse for the first time today and it did NOT disappoint. Heather behind the bar is absolutely amazing--super attentive, friendly, and always one step ahead. You can tell she really cares about the experience. I ordered the chicken tacos and they were seriously on point. Great flavor, fresh, and exactly what I was hoping for. We stopped by on a Friday evening after dinner at Mexicali and loved this place! We weren't sure what to expect and loved the local dive bar feel. I wish we would of discovered it sooner having lived in the neighborhood for 5 years now. The cover was $5 per person and we enjoyed listening to live music (country/ blue grass band) and the great service and inexpensive drinks. Reminded me of my days living in New Orleans! We wanted to try an appetizer on their menu as a snack but their restaurant had already closed. It wasn't terribly packed that evening so we were able to get good service at the bar and the mixed drinks were strong. Loved watching the swing and line dancing in this cool honky-tonk bar. We'll be stopping by this Friday to get out of the house! :-) read more

I loved everything about this place. It is your basic down home unpretentious bar where regular people go to have a drink, maybe shoot some pool and just hang. Although located in a totally nondescript strip mall in East Dallas that is far too easy to overlook, the restaurant/bar itself is a great place to relax and have some fun. We went to listen to music--the sound system is perfect for the size of the bar, and it's small enough that every place you sit is great. We did not try the food but they have an extensive menu. Drink prices are more than reasonable--$8.75 for a pitcher of Shiner, and $5 shots of Don Julio. Could not ask for better. I definitely will return. And by the way, if you like Stevie Ray Vaughn, you have to check out a band called Texas Flood (www.TexasFlood.net). On Facebook it is TexasFloodSRV. The three piece band is great, but the lead guitarist is simply amazing. You could close you eyes and think it was Stevie again. Just an amazing talent. And he sort of looks like Stevie and dresses similarly. Most of the show is covers by Stevie, but there is some Hendrix and other stuff I don't remember. Treat this like an experience. We came during the day. It was kind of slow. We were served pretty quick. Drink cups were kept full. It's a local dive bar. And doesn't pretend to be anything different. Food was actually pretty good. There were four of us. We had chicken fried chicken, Chuck steak, Fried steak sandwich and chicken fried steak. I saw them look at me but nothing.. I was trying to become a member but I think because of the color of my skin "it not being white enough" I was ignored. What the actual heck. We ordered two separate items: a baked potato and a bowl of chili. They dumped the chili all over a baked potato in a sloppy mess in a single styrofoam container (see pic). Seriously? Shout out to Door Dash for refunding the order, but what is the mental deficiency of the kitchen staff that they would think someone would want this dog food? Honestly even if it tasted like mana from heaven I wouldn't ever go here again because the staff obviously don't give a good god damn about their patron's experience. Also, the delivery guy says they made him wait 20 min after he showed up because they hadn't even started on the order. Again, seriously? Because these are not made to order items. We were early for a sales call and had an hour to kill. None of us were from around here so I looked to yelp to find a place that was open, highly rated, was not fast food, not too expensive and took credit cards. This place popped up and looked safe. What a dive. I'm glad I left my yarmulke in the car. A very local crowd. "What kind of music do you play?" "We play both kinds....Country and Western" Dudes and gals were mostly sitting at the bar, mostly getting drunk. We grabbed a table and ordered some ice waters and burgers and fries. The burgers were fantastic. Nice and thick with good buns and fresh toppings. I had bacon, grilled onions and BBQ sauce. Delicious. The fries were perfect, too. This place is ghetto fabulous. It is redneck central, but the atmosphere is very laid back. This place used to always be busy...until the city of Dallas banned smoking. They built a smoking patio, but they lost a lot of business to Garland and Richardson... The bartenders (Jeanette and Jessenia, sisters) will take good care of you. Plus, they're hot. Drinks are stiff and cheap. The night cook is excellent. Try the ribeye (seriously, it's really good for a BAR steak) or the pork chop special. Big dance floor and decent stage for bands. Don't waste your time or money at this place. My family was verbally assaulted and harassed by some "manager" by the name of Stephanie while attending a gig on Friday night, 9/18. She falsely accused them of trashing the bathroom, saying she knew her "regulars" would never do anything like that. She waited until the end of the evening after covers were paid and money spent on drinks before she demanded they pay their tabs and "get the f*** out of there". She was extremely aggressive and unbelievably unprofessional. She screamed at them, calling 2 members of my family c**ts. Never again will my friends or family step place in this dump. This is sort of like a "local corner bar and diner" but far more civilized; I would call it an extremely strong upgrade to (bow your head in reflection at its demise) the former Hole In The Wall in Dallas. Like HITW it has good local bands and top notch burgers with a great price; brews are priced right compared to other North Dallas places. (Free "membership", that absurd Dallas practice.) Excellent dance floor. Excellent parking. This is not a 20s crowd, not even close. (So much the better :) They can have their 8+ dollar drinks at their useless trendy hangouts :) ) Here you might run into people that you see at Step Up Lounge and former HITW-ers. They do the very noble act of publishing their menu on their web site, and at least at this moment, it *is* the actual menu. (Most other places seem to do a piss poor job of maintaining an accurate menu with accurate current prices on their sites.) I'll say there's yummy food at yummy prices, but you can decide for yourself since they publish it online. Nice place, nice employees, fine service. Very clean and extremely friendly place. Be prepared for music cover charge. Music can be somewhat unenjoyably loud, but that seems to be the rule in Dallas - if you DON'T have to yell in someone's ear to speak, whether to a waitress or someone 6 inches away, then the band is apparently considered to not be playing loud enough. Establishments: as a generally hard rule, if your music is loud enough that I can't have a civilized conversation, I will NOT come back. (As to Lone Star, I expect I will plan my visits BEFORE band start times, and be very happy with that. I'm not sure how that strategy will mesh with their band cover charge if, say, I plan to come and go in the half hour before they crank. We'll have to see about that.) read more

I live a couple blocks down the street, which makes Lone Star Roadhouse convenient when the GF and I don't feel like venturing out too far. It's definitely a dive which is totally fine with me. I've only eaten there a couple of time and the food is nothing to write home about. But it's certainly good enough for a neighborhood watering hole. The staff is friendly enough but seems stand-offish if you're not a regular. If you sit at a table service tends to be pretty slow. Unless you plan to order food, it's probably just as fast to grab your drinks at the bar and pay cash. I had to deduct another star for the absurd cover charge. Although there's usually live music from a local cover band, they are consistently average (at best). A $5 cover would probably be pretty reasonable, but last time we visited it was $10 each. We only paid because we wanted to drink and dance without driving all over town. LSR is a cozy little dive and really convenient when we're in the right frame of mind. I can live with the decent food and hit / miss service. But not when I have to pay $20 for music that ain't all that great. Instead, the GF and I prefer to drive 10-15 minutes up the road and drop our coin on an extra round or two of drinks at a place with free live music and no cover. read more

This is a great bar and we come here frequently. I think between the hubs and I we've tried everything on the menu and have NEVER been disappointed, really good food at good prices. They have live music (Thu, Fri & Sat?-maybe Wed too) and I think the cover starts at 7. The HH is good and they'll letcha know when it's fixing to end so you can get another round at HH prices. The staff is super attentive and the restrooms are always stocked and cleaned. The place is huge with a dance floor, a couple of pool tables (free pool on Sun), video poker (six liners), new internet juke box (free juke box on Mon), some dart boards, free -Wi-Fi (just ask for pword) and they also have a place outside for smoking. Lots of regulars here, which is a good thing, but outside of the regulars they get a good mix of people. I always feel welcome here and will definately be back. read more

I love when you go to a place and expect something and get so much more. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised with our food I had the steak fingers and she had a burger both really good definitely better than adequate bar food. A few beers and mixed drinks later made for a great night. There was live music and older people dancing so ambiance was jamming can't get better than great food booze awesome music and moms doing the cha cha slide and grinding on each other. The "manager" Stephanie verbally assaulted several of my friends, calling them words I can't repeat here after accusing them of putting paper towels in the bathroom sink and cutting the band that was playing, short for the night as a result. She said it "must've been someone the band brought in" and that it couldn't have been any of her regulars, after charging us all cover to come in and then closing down early. Sounds like a huge scam to me. Avoid this place at all costs. Service isn't friendly or fair. read more

Please don't waste your money here. I went to see my sisters band play. I paid the cover to get in, had some drinks with our friends and danced to the music. All of the sudden the bartender Stephanie storms over to the band as they're playing and says the next song will be their last and they and the PAYING CUSTOMERS they brought in have to leave. Why? Because we were all FALSELY ACCUSED of trashing the bathrooms. No evidence, no proof of any of us doing any damage to the bathrooms yet we all had to leave. When we called Stephanie out for falsely accusing us she began to yell profanities at us and demand we pay our tabs and leave. I've never witnessed a grown adult have a childish temper tantrum to that degree. I can't believe a bar would employee such a nasty immature person who wrongly accuses paying customers of doing something just so she can close the bar down two hours early. We all paid cover to get in, we all paid our tabs and luckily had a really sweet waitress Renée who did not deserve to be in the middle of what Stephanie created. As we waited outside for all of our group to pay and leave, a regular informed us that Stephanie is extremely rude with most of the customers. I'm really bummed that I have to write this because I liked this bar before, but a bartender named Stephanie ruined our whole experience Friday night. My band was playing and during our last set, she interrupted us and told us we had one more song to play because someone that we invited stuffed paper towels in the bathroom sink and left the water on. I asked if she had proof if it was someone from our party and her response was "I have a lot of regulars here tonight. This doesn't happen when they are here", insinuating and wrongfully accusing our group of flooding the bathroom. Mind you, the whole bar was packed. Our group took up only 2 tables. I told her it was unfair to accuse us when she didn't know who did it and she rudely said "well y'all have one more song and y'all have to get outta here." After our last song, I went to our group and told to them what she had said. She comes over to me and she's continuing to accuse someone in our group without anything to back her accusation up. Now I was getting angry and defensive. Things were getting heated and as she walked away from me, she yelled "pay your tab and get the fuck out!" The level of unprofessionalism and crass language from this person was unreal. I'm still in disbelief on how we were treated by her. We really enjoyed playing here, but STEPHANIE was so outrageously rude and inappropriate that I'm shocked she still has a job. My apologies to her that we brought a great crowd that paid good money at this establishment. We won't inconvenience you any more and it won't happen again. read more

This bar is a dump. Worse yet, management are extremely rude, unprofessional and outright threatening. There was a clog in the women's restroom Friday night. The manager blamed someone in the band or a fan of the band. That said, the band was told to quit playing and for all of them and us (my daughter is the singer) to leave. Granted, they can refuse service to anyone for any reason. I respect that. However, calling both my daughters c*nts is unacceptable. This woman, Stephanie, got in their face, poked them with her finger and threatened physical violence all the while having no idea who caused the clog flooding restroom. This band and those who follow them have never had any issue and been booked mulitple times at the same venue(s) with absolutely no problems. I confronted Stephanie and she called me a sorry, stupid motherf*cker and to get the h*ll out. Our server was so upset she was crying. We'd built a great rapport with her and she commented how what was occurring was wrong and how sorry she was. I was also threatened by the bouncer. We paid our tabs, gave very high tips and left. The bar itself is ok. It's a dive bar with ceiling tiles that are nasty brown from ancient cigarette stains and the chairs are often in need of repair or replacement. The food is decent bar food. During the summer months if you sit at the "right" table water will drip on your trouble from the leaky AC above. The problem is the owner and some staff. If you live in the area you will consistently run into former customers who refuse to go back due to the attitude of the owner and handed down to some of the staff. There is not much more off putting than going to a place to relax and then listening to the owner telling you what a lousy day she had or hearing her tell a customer to get the F out of my bar. It happens often. There are very few long time customers. It is not unusual to find the bar closed at 9:00 P.M. due to lack of business. I wonder why. It's sad to see the place where it is today. Before the current owner it was a fun place for a long time. read more

First, let me start with what's right. The food is pretty darn good. When Chef Troy is in the kitchen, you can't go wrong. The drinks are reasonably priced and usually pretty good if you can get someone to bring you one. Sometimes the live music on Wednesdays especially is pretty good. Fridays and Saturdays...well see the "second, let me go on to what's not good". The crowd is the best. So what's not good. The service. It sucks. Getting a drink is a major accomplishment. And the wait staff is out and out rude. Avoid Jennifer's area if you can. I will say that Sarah is as attentive as she possibly can be. So if you go, try to sit in her section if she's working. The live music? Free on Wednesdays and that seems to be when they have their better bands. Fridays and Saturdays, with the exception of a couple of bands, the music is occasionally good, often meh and most often terrible. Still you'll pay and $8 per person cover charge. Interesting considering you can hear some really excellent music in East Dallas for absolutely free. But if you're on a date, it's $16 for two people to walk in the door on Fridays and Saturdays after 6:30 to hear meh to terrible music and not be able to get a drink, let alone food. I recommend you go during the week with friends for a good time. Sit at the bar if you want the best chance of getting a drink. Lisa works during the week and she keeps up with the crowd pretty well though (if there's a crowd). Avoid weekends if you don't like overpriced crappy music and rude wait staff. read more

First experience here was good. Tonight when we arrived at 6:20 we were charged $10 cover. Food was good, but waitstaff does not know menu. Waitress told us they just raised all prices. Ran out of some food items. Waitress and bartender/new owner had unpleasant/rude attitudes. Waitstaff was not scheduled to start until 7 pm even though sign on front door states open at 11 am. Waitstaff was running late so very long delay to order food. You can go lots of places to eat and dance...next time I will go elsewhere. read more
