Daniel was friendly and professional and squeezed in a quick job for us within 2 hours of my call to AMD Handyman (Daniel was in our area finishing another job, so he swung by afterwards). It was a small job (address plaque installation into wood siding), but we discovered our home drill was not strong enough after starting the job. Daniel was reasonably priced and did a fantastic job (he also explained why the directions that came with the plaque would not be a good installation method and installed the plaque in a manner that did less damage to our home). I definitely would trust Daniel again for any handyman job and was happy with his work. read more

There's a good reason why Alex and Dennis get 5 star reviews. They came on time and installed a smoke alarm on a 14 foot high ceiling. Since that took about 20 minutes, and I had them for a minimum of an hour, Dennis said "anything you need done?" Well, I just happened to have some Ikea stuff that I hadn't knocked together yet. The first shelf took only 15 minutes, and then "anything else?" Well, yes, another Ikea shelf. 20 minutes later "Anything else?" Nope. One hour, 3 things that would have taken me considerably more time. A bargain. Word of warning...if you have a NEST smoke alarm that has to be installed on a 14' high ceiling, make sure you copy the alarm's unique ID so it can be registered on the mounting plate BEFORE it goes up out of reach. Thank goodness I still have another couple of Ikea units to be put together. read more

Overall, I had a good experience with AMD. Victoria handled scheduling; Alex came to provide a quote for the work (drywall installation in a small utility closet where we had water damage from a leaking water heater); and Michael did the actual work. Cons: - English is not Michael's first language so there were some miscommunications resulting in work having to be redone. - The water heater discharge pipe (which was in the shape of an "L") was sealed up inside the wall. When the plumber arrived to install a new water heater, he had to cut out a long opening in the newly installed drywall in order to pull out the discharge pipe. Pros: - Quick turnaround - total of 4 days from talking to Victoria, to having Alex provide a quote, to having Michael come out and complete the job. - When problems occurred, Alex personally came out to the job site in order to translate and help clear up instructions. - Michael's actual drywall work was excellent. - Victoria, Alex and Michael were all customer-oriented. They always strived to make things right and obviously cared about customer satisfaction. Bottom line: I would hire AMD for future work. Problems do occur, so the most important thing is that your contractor or handyman acknowledge them and work well with you to resolve them which is what AMD did for me. This is a review for some handyman Andrey that was sent to install curtain rods and kitchen faucet. My wife booked the appointment and I was at home. He couldn't speak any English so we had to use some translate app. Plus I don't think he was experienced enough. I think that's a recipe for disaster and that's almost exactly what happened had I not been supervising him. He was also disgusting. He stuck chewing gum on the packaging of the kitchen faucet he was supposed to install. So now I can't even return the faucet if I want to. He anyway couldn't install it saying he had to get a special tool from the office to remove the old one. I would leave negative 100 stars. You never do that to a customer. There was a dustbin right in front of him. On the curtain rods he did okay but goofed up and installed one side upside down so now I have extra holes in my wall. Gee thanks! And he refused to (or didn't understand) when I asked him to patch the holes. He also installed one curtain rod slightly slanted. My bad I guess since I wasn't there to supervise him at that point. He also didn't clean up the mess he made after drilling in the walls. I have had other handymen you've cleaned up. It's just a part of the job. Plus, since he couldn't install the new kitchen faucet he was just going to leave the old one disconnected. I asked him to connect it. I discovered that it was leaking from the pipes below after he left so I had to spend some time tightening it. Overall, I probably wouldn't hire this person again. read more

We hired AMD to replace an existing through-the-wall AC with a new unit. The quote was for $79/ hour, minimum 3 hours, because we believed the new unit was bigger and the hole would have to be enlarged. It turned out the new unit is smaller, so there was no need to enlarge the hole. Wes came, and he was very polite, gave us some good ideas about how we could do the trim work and insulation, and completed the install up to the point of plugging the unit in. We needed to have a different type of outlet installed, and he was willing to do it but didn't have the proper tools, so we are left having to do that ourselves. That wouldn't bother me, except that we paid for 3 hours. The job was smaller than expected, and the portion of the job Wes was able to do only took 90 minutes. read more

Due to my being located in Modesto, CA, I contacted AMD to inquire if they could facilitate the unpacking and plugging in of an Air Purifier for my elderly in-laws at their retirement home in Sunnyvale when it was delivered from Amazon. It certainly wasn't a big or difficult job with very little money in it for doing it. They were more than happy to offer to simply drop by the retirement home and do such for me as a courtesy at no charge. Such kindness is seldom found in today's world. If I ever have a need for any Handyman services I will certainly use them. Lightning fast work from Daniel and his crewman. We needed several old antennas removed from our roofs. Got an estimate over the phone in the morning with a rough ETA, his crew called a couple hours later and was able to come at a time that was even more convenient for me. Showed up and assessed the situation and went straight to work. The worker was extremely careful and thorough, sealing all holes and took extra steps to tidy up any leftover items. He checked in with me throughout and made sure his job was completed to satisfaction. Danylo from AMD services responded quickly and with a fair bid for installation of safety bars in two bathrooms. He was able to do the job right away and I scheduled a time with him. He was on time for our appointment. When Danylo saw the bathrooms, he was honest and admitted he had never installed the bars on top of tile, only directly into sheetrock. He was willing to try installing one and see how it went, but I needed secure bars for showering. We discussed and mutually decided to not move ahead. I really appreciate Danylo's honesty and understanding of my needs and concerns. I would recommend him based on that alone, even though he was not able to complete this particular job. They've fixed everything from sticking doors to loose edging strips, removed brick and cement planters from the front of the house, and best of all repaired my favorite old wooden Morris recliner chair.
