I bought a house and was doing some renovations before moving in so I decided to do a PEX re-piping to replace the existing galvanized steel water pipes from the 1960s. Tobey came out to do the quote and answered my questions during the consultation and afterwards. I got quotes from 4 other places and Ameri-Cal was the lowest at $4,450 with yelp discount (kitchen, two bathrooms, and three hose bibs). My contractor did the drywall patching so that brought down the price a bit. Here's a couple of notes about my experience so you know what to expect: 1. The crew that did my job wasn't the most professional. I had to tell them to not play music and they were messing around a good amount. 2. They opened up a whole in my wall that ended up being the wrong spot. The hole was like 4"x4" so it wasn't that big but I had to pay for my contractor to patch it. 3. They left excess piping in the crawl space. 4. Toby does the quote but he's not there when they do the work. There's a "foreman" who showed up a couple of hours after work started and a Crew leader. The Crew leader said he had limited English so one of the crew members had to translate, but the Crew leader's English wasn't bad so we were able to communicate directly. 5. Some of the things I went over with Toby didn't get relayed to the crew so be prepared to tell the crew about any special requirements. 6. Issues and questions will come up so I'd recommend that you be there during the work. It's been a couple of months since they completed the job. Hot water takes about 15 seconds to arrive. I've never had PEX before so i'm not sure if that's because of the PEX or my water heater. Overall, I'd recommend Ameri-Cal. read more

Very pleased with the services. We actually contacted the company to see if they undo clogged drain. They do... they quickly came and took care of the matter within 5 minutes. Very professional! We also hired them for a whole house water filter system (Puronics BPS water treatment system) due to the unknown contaminants in the city water. This is to ensure the whole family health and wellness, and also the longevity of the whole house piping system. Many corroded house water pipes are due to the chemical treatment added in the city water that get sent to each household. That's scary! Think of what goes in your body after all that corrosion! Installing the purification system is only a very small price to pay if you take into consideration of the cost of future re-piping of the whole house and also health care cost of sick family members. Repipe of a 2100 sq ft house with 2 bathrooms done in 3 days! (Day 2 was strictly waiting on inspector.) After several years of procrastination due to fear of mess and cost, I finally pulled the trigger. And guess what? My fear was unwarranted. Ameri-cal was awesome! Most previous reviews already cover what I have to say so I'll be brief. Day 1- Repipe was done quickly and neatly. Interior floors and items were covered to prevent as much mess as possible. Day 2- Inspector came out and met with me. Repipe passed with flying colors. The inspector was impressed and even commented that the job was done well and was a really clean job. Day 3- Initially, one patcher had shown up. He stated he didn't know how big the job was and said he would have to finish the following day. I explained to him I was going on vacation and leaving that following day. I had previously explained this to the salesman so I guess there was a slip up in communication between them. Great experience with our repipe here two years ago. Just recently, we had been having some drainage issue with one of our toilets, but since it wasn't repipe related, I called a different plumber to come out and snake the drain. They ended up finding a piece of pex piping lodged in the toilet drain that must have been down there since the repipe. I was about to suck it up and pay the $350 to get it fixed, when I thought to call Ameri-Cal. They were so incredibly helpful and apologetic and reimbursed me for the bill! About a week ago, I had yet another copper pipe spring a leak in my 18 year old home. I'm in the process of remodeling and was concerned spending the money on a remodel only to have yet another leak damage things. As such, I began to research the possibility of repiping my home. After doing a ton of research and speaking with others, I decided that a Repipe was a smart investment. After scouring the Internet for repiping companies, I narrowed my search down to a couple of plumbing firms. Ultimately, I went with Ameri-Cal based on excellent reviews, my initial call and am in-home estimate. My in-home estimate was done by Paul, who showed up promptly (which is a great sign) and was very professional and explained the whole process clearly. After meeting with Paul, I really felt comfortable with my choice to go with Ameri-Cal Plumbing. He thoroughly explained PEX vs Copper and provided me estimates on both. We set up an appointment for the following Thursday at 8am. Prior to the commencement of the repipe, I received a call from Toby, who works out of their office. Toby reached out to me to gather information for the permit. Toby took care of all of the details and ensured that I had everything I needed for the city issued plumbing permit. At about 7:55am, there was a knock at the door from the foreman, Alex. What a great guy he turned out to be! Alex walked through the house with me and explained exactly how they were going to complete the Repipe. His team of 5-6 plumbers began the job by carefully and throughly covering anything and everything in my home. They were IMMACULATE while performing the Repipe. All of Alex's team members were extremely polite, professional, and efficient. I was amazed at how fast they were able to complete the repipe and did an OUTSTANDING job! We just went through a full home repipe with Amer-cal. Paul was very thorough in his quote and walk through and while they were not the lowest they were extremely fair prices for all the work that was done. If you have never through a repipe get ready. You house will be torn apart with 60-80 holes (2350 SF house 2 story). The team is very clean and will tape and out plastic over everything. Repipe took two days since Paul and team were so accommodating for us. Day one was repipe and setup. We had the inspector come in the AM day 2. Then the patch and texture crew came after and they wrapped up that night. We were able to paint day 4 via another vendor and be done. The foreman Alex was great too. We have beadboard in our ceiling that we wanted to avoid so he came by the day before to do a thorough walk through and we have two good plans to route everything without impacting the ceiling. The next day when the job started it went without a hitch. Lastly they installed a recirculator since we have a few long runs. Now we have almost instant hot water brought the day depending on how I set my timer. After it was done we had a few minor questions and issue with leaky faucets since the fixtures were so old. Ameri-cal would send a technician to diagnose and fix the issue within one day. Couldn't ask for better customer service. Yesterday we discovered a leak coming from an upstairs guest bathroom and we called them and they showed up within hours. Turns out it had nothing to do with their repipe job, but instead a drain issue from an improperly installed toilet. We have been dealing with slab leaks in our house for years. We knew it was time to get our house re-piped. We reached out to several plumbing companies for quotes. They were happy to give out quotes. All re-piping quotes were all in the same ball park. I went with Ameri-Cal for their professionalism from the start. Toby went in detail over the entire re-piping process and answered all my questions. Ameri-Cal recommended that city permits be pulled for the job. The other plumbers either avoided the topic of permits or suggested that they were not necessary. On the day of the re-piping, Alfonso and his crew arrived early and prepped the house. They put down tarps and drop clothes in all the rooms they worked in. It was amazing to see how quickly and efficiently they re-piped the house with PEX. The job was finished in a day. My family was fed up with neverending copper leaks and shady/dishonest plumbers in the Walnut area. It was time to repipe. Ameri-Cal and another repiping company in my area were the top choices and they gave similar quotes. 3 bath, 1 kitchen, 1 laundry house for approximately $6400 with pex and $8900 with copper. The other company made a better final offer, but Paul seemed honest and gave reassuring opinions. They did a good job covering up the ground during the work to not destroy our cream carpet. Also, +1 for being mindful of my scared cat and posting a sign warning the other crew that he's in one of the rooms. It is not the crew's responsibility to pet-watch, but we were not able to relocate our furball in time for the work. Still, they did wonderfully in keeping him in a closed room during work hours. Everything was completed on schedule. They did a surprisingly good job patching up the 40+ holes throughout the house. Just keep in mind that they do not paint, so it would be a good idea to maybe paint before having all the furniture moved back. Ameri-cal was a life saver. After trying to use a plumber (Ford Plumbing) to try and repair a leak under a wall and slab, we realized we made a big mistake using a standard Plumber for this repair. We meet with several other plumbers to get us out of this mess. Most recommended a Re-pipe specialist. These companies do it day and night and have great experience. We settled on Ameri-cal Repipe and are very glad we did! Very profession, fast, experience. The job is big, cutting into walls, ceilings, rerunning hot and cold copper, connecting or installing new fixtures, repatching, etc. They were very accommodating, including helping to install fixtures. We had 3 bathrooms, a water heater, Washer Dryer, Kitchen, 5 outdoor faucets, two showers, two tubs, a guest bathroom, etc. And they made it all work. One day for the install, and one day to finish and make it paint ready. House was clean and back to order nicely. They were safe and clean. The quote crew is different than the work crew, so make sure all the details are in the contract. I would use them again. We spent around $9,000 for full copper repipe of our house including the main supply line from the city. But ever since the repipe, noise from one of the bathroom shower is so loud that all the bedrooms around it can hear it. It sounds like an airplane taking off every time the shower is on. The shower faucet is brand new as well and I tested taking off all the faucet parts to make sure it wasn't bad diverter valve or spout making the unbearable loud noise. They kept giving BS excuses like saying the noise is from poor insulation in the wall and high water pressure. Yeah sure, our house from the '60s is old and have no insulation in the wall, but that doesn't explain why our shower was perfectly fine before the repipe, and the other shower doesn't make this noise. Turned down the whole house water pressure and noise is still present. Was really hoping to finally able to recommend a well-reviewed company to my friends but this just is too much. We'll have to find another company to open up the wall again to see what they did with the pipes to cause so much jet engine noise. read more

We were looking at different options, but he matched the price of another company we were looking at and did a great job of explaining to us how he would go about doing it over the phone. The drywall people forgot one area, and management quickly resolved the issue by coming out the next day to patch. All the workers were courteous, hard working and pleasant to have around, so much so that my husband purchased everyone lunch. I am very disappointed in the work done by this company. They scheduled our job quickly, but said it would be done in two days and took four days. Not a major problem, they just need to estimate better. The plumbing crew was fine. They accidentally broke a faucet, but stayed late to replace it the same day. Our problems started with the drywall crew. The quality of their work was very low. They "patched" holes using several small pieces of scrap drywall. They filled holes in the stucco with pieces of drywall! They completely skipped holes under sinks and said they were out of sight. They destroyed shelves in my closet and said that was not part of the refinishing job! I called and discussed this with a supervisor who apologized and said we should keep the remaining $1500 balance. But, when we called painters to finish the job, they said they needed to skim coat the areas because they were not sanded or uneven. This cost well over $1500. Be cautious if you use Americal Repiping. Don't pay until the work is completed! read more

I live in Laguna Niguel and whoever lives this area and or in city of Aliso Viejo, knows that how hard water we have and most of the homes or condos in our area has done re-pipe. I found Ameri-Cal through Yelp and read a lot of great review on them. As soon as set an online request for estimate, get contacted by Paul right away and he came in next day and gave me an estimate. I got another 2nd estimate from 2nd company who had great reviews on yelp too. Cost wise they were very close but I chose Ameri-Cal because they would have done few jobs in our community and Paul very professionally knew the floor plan and plumbing routes very well . @nd reason was that Ameri-Cal works with a financing company who finqanced me very quick and without any hassel. Job started after a week. The crew were very young, energetic and professional. Covered everywhere nicely to minimize the dust.
