I really enjoyed their lattes and their alternative milk options. The downside is they are VERY pricey and I can't see the appeal in going here compared to their surrounding competitors. Their tiny tiny little muffin was over $5 and their cookie was pretty dry. The servers were very nice though and the environment was cute and calming. The total for 2 lattes, a cookie, and a muffin came out to over $21.

A cozy coffee spot off the downtown area. We got a flat white, a latte, a scone and a bag of beans while we were there. The barista was friendly and helpful and the drinks were very good! The scone wasn't dry and we throughly enjoyed it. I wish I lived closer to come agsi

Here is a transcript of my chat thread with my husband this morning: Me: I have stopped at American Bulldog Coffee Roasters and it is amazing. Me: There is a fire in the fireplace! Me: They have vegan GF pastries and use oat milk! Him: Oh nice! Where is that? Me: Right across from the Ridgewood train station. Me: I needed decaf beans and didn't want bad ones. Me: So I decided to come here and see what they have. Me: The beans are expensive tho. $17 for 12 oz. Him: Might as well order from those guys in LA!! Me: Okay but some morning you have to come with me to drop off the kids and then we can stop here for capps! Him: Word. *5 min later* Me: OMG this matcha oat latte is THE BEST MATCHA OAT LATTE!! Me: There's also a location in Mahwah. Me: And they have vegan soft serve ice cream!! Him: What? Wow! Me: Seriously. I'm going back and I'm taking you with me. You're gonna luv it.

I've only been here once, but I loved my sweet matcha latte. Frothy and sweet with no bitter aftertaste! Unfortunately there was no bulldog when I got there at 7:30 am :( lol maybe he (or she?) comes later on in the day.

What a beautiful coffee shop... definitely wish there was more seating, but it's large enough to accommodate personal and smaller groups! The coffee here is excellent and especially if you are patient enough wait for the pour over. Make sure to ask for the roast date and origin of the beans. Some of the baristas don't seem as familiar with the notes of the beans, but how many really are?!? It just took a really long time for the coffee and the price was a bit on the higher end. Love the atmosphere and coffee but I've had better and I've had it cheaper. While waiting for our friends to decide on what coffee they wanted, we got distracted and took a little longer to order our coffee. One of the baristas came and yelled at us to get something or stop taking up seats... little disappointed that he used that tone with customers.

The coffee here is actually amazing - it's bold, strong and energizing. I had a cortado and blueberry lemon mini muffin. The muffin had oats and was very tasty (but also expensive $4 for ~5 bites) ! They make their own muffins, pastries, scones and cookies in house so they are decently fresh. They offer a gluten free selection as well. The space itself is adorable, great for working or catching up w/ a friend. There's even a fireplace which must feel so nice in the winter. They have a coffee ice cream selection that I believe is also organic and a homemade production, but I did not try that today.

On a Saturday evening, we ventured in for a sweet treat and it was thankfully pretty quiet. They have a good selection of different flavors like guava cheesecake, black sesame and various teas. We enjoyed the saffron kulfi (almond, pistachio, cardamom) and cookies and cream (blue tinted which didn't seem necessary). The server gave us a nice big scoop for $5.99. In addition to ice cream cakes, they sell signature sundae type things that you can customize and likely friendly to the camera but not to your wallet. There's a good amount of seating towards the back, which is nice since most ice cream shops are small. There's also a location in Hoboken. Looking forward to returning!

Their homemade ice cream is delicious, and they offer a huge variety of flavors. We stopped by on a Friday afternoon and lucked out--it wasn't crowded yet. If you've ever been here during peak summer hours, you know that's a rarity. This place is a local favorite, and long lines are pretty common later in the day. I was really hoping to get my favorite, Bailey's Cream, but they were sold out. That's one thing to keep in mind: while they have a ton of flavors, they aren't always all available. I ended up ordering the Black Raspberry Chip with free rainbow sprinkles (my go-to), and it definitely hit the spot. Someone in our group got a milkshake and absolutely loved it, while another ordered the Cappuccino Oreo and enjoyed it as well. Portion sizes: A single scoop (their small) is surprisingly large. With prices having increased over the years, I'd love to see a smaller, more affordable option for those times when I just want a little ice cream. I also wish they'd let you choose two flavors in a small cup instead of requiring a double scoop (medium) if you want to mix flavors. A few things to know before you go: Van Dyk's is cash only, although they do have an ATM inside if you need it. The shop itself is very small, with no indoor seating or restrooms. There are only a few places to sit outside, so most people end up standing around or grabbing a spot on the small wall. Parking can also be a bit of a headache. The lot gets hectic, especially when they're busy, and better signage would definitely help. We've found it's often easier to park on a nearby side street and walk over. Even when the line is long, the staff does a great job keeping things moving. One employee usually takes care of an entire group from start to finish, which helps keep the ordering process efficient. Everyone we've interacted with has always been friendly and helpful. Even with the cash-only policy, limited seating, and hectic parking, Van Dyk's is still one of our family's favorite summer traditions. The homemade ice cream keeps us coming back year after year, and hopefully next time they'll have my favorite ice cream, Bailey's Cream, in stock.
