Just called Ben for advice / potential service on if I should repair a Samsung fridge since I was referred to him from Yelp from another vendor who didn't service fridges. Ben was super informative and was able to diagnose my common issue over the phone shortly, saving me a service call and charge for a potential issue that wouldn't have been worth it to fix. This is great service - doing what is in the best interest of the customer from a pricing, time, and effort perspective. If I have issues, I'm more likely to reach out to him again. Ben is a self-taught handyman who badly botched a repair of my ice machine, which caused a leak that ruined my hard wood floor. When I assumed it was an honest mistake and tried to work with him, he hung up and said floor damage wasn't his problem. I got another professional on video showing that the issue was Ben's mistake in using the wrong part on a water value, and had to take him to court. I won small claims for thousands of dollars but Ben did not show up and has ignored his legal obligation to pay the claim. Do NOT hire this guy. If you must, I suggest you ask to see his license because I am pretty sure he doesn't have one. I've seen other positive reviews so I'm sure Ben has good days where he does good work, but be warned that if something goes wrong and its his fault, he will run for the hills and leave you high and dry. Technician was prompt and friendly enough when we called for our Viking Range. Said they'd get back in a few days about parts. Two weeks later we followed up, and they said they'd order the parts, but then texted back to say the parts were out of stock at Viking. They sent us pictures, and told us to call, maybe we'd have better luck. I called Viking, relayed the parts numbers, paid $400, and got them a week later. American Eagle sent their guy out again. We were told the parts didn't fit. Um, what? I texted Russ to ask and he said "What you need are these parts." Sent the same pictures. I told him that's what I ordered. He said they're wrong. I said what do I need? He never replied... They weren't very interested in actually helping me and I wasted time and money on the wrong parts. read more

I spoke with American Eagle Appliance after having been referred to them through my home warranty company and made an appointment for them to come to look at my washing machine. After waiting 2 hours on the day of my appointment, I called to check on the status and was told that he was not coming. He said he couldn't find the work order in his email and so just decided to ignore my appointment. I had called him twice prior to the appointment and he had my name and phone number but never called to tell me his intention to not show up. Let's be honest. No one likes to look for an appliance repair company. It always feels like a crap shoot as to whether the thing will be fixed. I feel anxiety for days after a repair wondering if it will take. In comes Ben. He's smart and honest! We had an initial phone call to determine the issue with my Samsung freezer, scheduled an appointment for the next day, and then we hung up but....... he called me back. Anxiety kicks in. I didn't get to use his service but I would not hesitate. Here's why: I called to tell him that my freezer had ice built up on the back and my fridge was warm. I replaced the control board myself and wanted to know how much he would charge to diagnose what else could be wrong. He told me to completely defrost my freezer and dry everything and see if the ice was just left over from before changing the board. Sure enough, that's all it was. He was kind and reassuring on the phone and said "you will probably find that fixes it". I would call him in a heartbeat. Others would have come by and at least charged a service fee. Thank you Ben. Can not recommend more highly. Found these guys on Yelp this morning when I realized my oven wasn't getting warm. Called Ben, and he was able to come out today, Saturday, on the same day. He seemed to know immediately what was wrong, diagnosed it (and explained the diagnosis in detail-awesome), fixed it (he came prepared with the part), and left all within 30ish minutes. When my Electrolux dishwasher needed repairs I couldn't find anyone who would service it. Finally I called Ben Siavashi at American Eagle. He came when he said he would, took my dishwasher apart and worked for hours -- more than once -- trying to fix it. My wife found Ben via next door app when we were looking for someone to repair our LG fridge. BTW, on side note, never buy LG appliances....like ever. LG quoted $125 for the inspection call + any labor to fix the issue. The Fridge was 5 years old and had just ran out of labor warranty a month ago. Ben not only answered the call right away but talked to my wife for almost 15 mins over phone patiently understanding the issue and offereing advice. Based on the info, he told to stick with LG tech support since it sounded like a compressor issue (apparently very common with LG French door fridge). We made an appointment with LG which was a week out ....earliest available!!!! They work really hard to hate their product and service as much as possible..... Two day later, I found Fridge cooling but not freezing. Didn't seem like compressor issue based on what i read online. It was Sunday evening. I still called Ben and left him a message. Next morning around 9:00 AM, got a text from Ben suggesting the issue could be the second most common issue with LG fridge....Freon leak. He still suggested to stick with LG as sealed system parts would be covered under warranty through them. We never met. I have never used his service. He knew he is turning business away while he could have easily taken advantage of our urgent issues. I really appreciated that!! The raving reviews on Next Door app make perfect sense now. I don't know how good of a technician he is since I have never used his service but I would be very comfortable calling him up if I needed any future appliance repairs (hopefully not!!). read more

Repaired my refrigerator ice maker twice in one month. Charge both times. When I called back a couple of weeks later because it wasn't working properly, I said that I did not expect to pay each time for something that was not fixed properly the first time. (I had paid Big Money!) The man was loud and rude, saying that of course he would charge if it was a different issue. I was unable to continue the conversation because he was not allowing me to speak, yelling over what I was saying. He will never enter my house again, even if he is the last repairman on earth! He also "repaired" my dishwasher which was not getting dishes clean. He replaced 3 wash arms. I still have to prewash dishes by hand, and no....they are coming out better, but not clean. He made a big mess when he was here....water spilled and left on my wood floors the most serious. read more

Con: Diagnoses of samsung dishwasher was incorrect ( diagnosed that control board needing replacing $350 repair) Researched multiple sites for my issue identified more plausible cause (and yes new control board would have "fixed" it but only due to to it bypassing a sensor) I fixed it myself by cleaning the sensor ($0 in parts, 1/2 hour of my own labor) I was stuck with a $70 bill for an incorrect diagnoses. read more

Our fridge freezer decided to stop working last week. We have a baby in the house on milk so we can't do without it. I phoned a few places from yelp most were busy then came across this firm. Spoke to Ben who listened to the issue then confirmed he could have a guy with us later the same day. Perfect. A guy called Russell called me before arriving to let me know he was enroute. Russell turned up ahead of time and was very pleasant and friendly. He quickly diagnosed the issue and told me he'd need to get the parts. The cost was a little high since it was an old fridge, but we simply needed to get it fixed. It was getting late and russell had another job to go to. We really needed the fridge fixed same day, so spoke to Ben and he was happy to help. Russell disappeared to get the part and returned as promised. He did the work, and kept us updated on his progress. I had a nice time exchanging conversation with Russell, he's a very smart guy and very professional. Russell made sure the fridge was working, and then he was on his way. Would definitely welcome russell back if any other appliance has issues. We were told the fix had a year warranty on the work which is very good. Also, the fridge has actually never worked as good as it does now. A shoutout to a responsive and honest business! I called regarding a microwave that was malfunctioning. Ben answered immediately and asked a few Qs to diagnosis the situation. He asked for me to text him a photo of model # and he would check on parts availability. He sent a text photo later the same day showing that the needed part has unfortunately been discontinued (i.e., I need to buy entire new microwave). After an unsatisfactory experience with another Austin appliance service, we called American Eagle, whom we had used to repair our ice-maker a few years ago, but had forgotten about them. I found them in my address book and called to check the same fridge for a plugged-up defrost drain (water leaking from the pan onto the floor) . Within two hours Ben arrived from American Eagle and he was really great. He not only unstopped the drain and cleaned out the back of the fridge, he also noticed that the fridge was too warm, so he cleaned the condenser coils to remedy that problem (and maybe did some other stuff - I lost track). In language we appliance Luddites could understand, he explained how the fridge works and how the problems happened in the first place. He also told us our 15 year old Maytag side-by-side could very likely last another 5 - 7 years. That made us very happy. Oh, and their price to replace our icemaker would have been $100 less than the True-Blue Apliance owner we hired last week. If only we had remembered that we hired American Eagle a few years ago! True Blue Mike didn't even notice the fridge wasn't cooling properly. Also, he told my husband it would save us money if he unclogged the drain himself and didn't pay his company to do it. So my husband tried and was unsuccessful, so we called True Blue back and Mike got very irritated, acting like it would be a chore to come back (and this was a NEW problem that he could have made more money on). His receptionist ultimately told us he couldn't come for another week. That's when we called American Eagle and got a service visit less than two hours later. I ended up *not* using him to fix my LG refrigerator b/c the parts were still under warranty and it would be cheaper to go through LG (for which he gave me a step-by-step process for getting that done), but I am grateful for his professionalism and honesty in helping me get my frig "refrigerating" again. I highly recommend Ben. He came out on a Saturday, shortly after I called. He reconnected my gas oven and replaced a bulb. When he saw I was struggling with a refrigerator water filter, he replaced it for me. While he waited to see if the oven heated properly, he made sure the contractor had properly connected the dishwasher and adjusted a hose. He was fast, friendly, and his price was more than fair. My home owner insurance company referred me to this company and due to the extreme rudeness on the phone we are going through a delay finding someone to fix our appliance in our home. This man picked up the phone when he was "in the middle of fixing a refrigerator" and cut me off when I tried to explain why I was calling, and then hung up on me. I had 2004 Samsung Fridge that was not cooling. I called around 10:00 AM I was told to expect Ben between 12-1 , he called ahead to verify I was home and showed up promptly. He diagnosed the issue in less than 5 minutes without having to take the Fridge apart, determining it was a bad switch. He had the switch in his truck and 15 minutes later he was done. The repairman for American Eagle successfully diagnosed my dryer issue as a problem with the electrical breaker, but the technician charged me double the price I was quoted for the house call, even though he didn't actually repair anything. I consider this a misrepresentation or a bait-and-switch. I was quoted $69 for the house call, and was charged $129 by the technician. read more

In 2014 they came out and replaced a water level detect part on my relatively new Samsung Dishwasher, it cost me $243!!! Recently the same problem occurred. This time I watched a YouTube video and was able to fix it myself. The part needed to be cleaned NOT replaced. So I think they over charged me some. Never buying Samsung appliances again. read more

When I first called American Eagle, I was actually very pleased. Russell was very nice and knowledgable. He came and looked at our dishwasher and our fridge (just the ice machine was not working on the fridge) after a lightening strike to the house had damaged electrical components in them. He ordered the parts and the wait started. I called about a week later and Ben had informed me that they had gotten the dishwasher part but not the fridge yet, and he wanted to save a trip and do them at the same time. Okay. Fine. Russell came back and the dishwasher was fixed. However, the ice maker needed an adapter that was not ordered. Another week later and I had to call Ben again. He told me that the part should be in the next couple of days. Okay. We finally set up a time for him to come out. Ben replaces the ice maker and I pay him the balance. He told me that it should take about 24-48 hours for the ice maker to start producing.... Two days later it is still not working. I call him and he said he was waiting to come out until he got the part for our Bar-B-que and heard back about our stove. (Lightening does a lot of damage to electronics;).) I told him no, we have already been waiting way too long to get this fixed. He came out a couple days later. He messed with some buttons, cut some wires and replaced them (to make sure it was getting power) and said I should wait another 24-48 hours to produce ice. Again.. Not working. This time my husband decided to step in. Ben is extremely rude and I didn't want to deal with him anymore. Ben had ordered another component for the fridge. When he came to replace it I was not there but my husband had relayed the information. He was rude to the point where my husband got entirely too frustrated, he usually can hold his temper very well. Ben blamed me for the part that wouldn't work for the Bar-B-Que, said that Viking still hasn't responded to him about the stove and on top of that.... not only does our fridge still not make ice.. but now it doesn't even dispense water anymore!!!!!! I have called him almost every other day for the last three weeks and have not had a returned call. All I was asking was to fix the problem or re-imburse us for the damage done. Three and a half months later, 560+ for the fridge to him and who knows how much it is going to cost to get the additional damage as well as what was not even fixed, repaired..... I am completely appalled by this man and his lack of professionalism. I dislike writing negative reviews, but my goodness... What else is a screwed over consumer supposed to do?! read more

I really appreciate this crew of professionals. I had Russell out to service my washer a few years ago and when my dryer broke this week, I called back for an appointment to get it back in working order. Ben, the owner, scheduled my appointment for Thursday afternoon but there was a mix-up and they ended up not showing. (Not ideal, I know...but read on to understand why I'm leaving them 5 stars). Ben called near the end of the day on Thursday and apologized for the mistake and said he himself would be over first thing Friday morning. He called about 20 minutes before arriving and was at my house at just the time he said he would be. Upon diagnosing my dryer, he said I needed a part he didn't have with him. He ensured me he would have his technician, Russell back at my place before end of day. Russell arrived in the afternoon and promptly picked up where Ben had left off. My dryer was up and running in about 15 minutes. Russell also explained how I could go about fixing the water dispenser on my GE refrigerator (it hasn't produced water in several months). I followed his advice on that and now my water dispenser is working too!! I am so happy!! Ben also waived the service fee due to the scheduling mishap. I'm very satisfied with their work and follow through despite the slow start and mix up with my original appointment.
