We heard about Breaking Point Appliance Repair through our neighborhood handy man. Our oven hadn't been working for a while, so we called Breaking Point. Robert was able to see us the same day we called. He was very friendly, and we had some nice conversations. He also made sure our kids were safe while he was working. He even showed them some "cool tricks" to pique their interest about electric circuits (using a tool measuring the electricity). Robert was able to diagnose the issue right away! Tuesday, 8 a.m.- I called Robert because my water dispenser on my fridge wasn't working. He said he could come out Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday. Asked me to send him a text with my address and a picture of the model number. I did that promptly. Tuesday- never heard from him Wednesday, 8:10 am- I texted Robert asking if he thought he would come out in the morning or afternoon. He said afternoon. Then he called me asking me to remind him what the problem was. I told him again. Wednesday- never heard back from him Thursday- never heard from him Called another company and they came out and fixed the issue already. I'm not mad that he couldn't make it or got busy. I get that he's a small, local business and only one guy. Plus, my issue wasn't urgent. I wanted my water dispenser to work, but it's not like the fridge was dead. But the point is that if you're a business, you need to communicate with customers, and it takes 30 seconds to send a text. read more

The heating element went out on our dryer and so we began searching for appliance repair companies to have it fixed. We like to support local businesses and found Breaking Point Appliance Repair during our search. Not only did they have great reviews but were also located just a few streets away from our house so decided to give them a call. From the moment we called to explain the situation they were very professional, friendly and accommodating. They were upfront about the $85 fee to have the dryer inspected and let us know that if we decided to use them for the repair they would waive the $85 fee. They were able to schedule the appointment for the next day between 2-4pm and said Robert would text when he was on his way. I received a text the following day around 3:15pm from Robert saying he was headed to our location to inspect the dryer. Robert showed up about 15 minutes later and was very personable, friendly and polite. As he disassembled the dryer he pointed out that the heating element in fact had gone out along with a few other issues he saw around the motor. The additional issues were minor and he said he could replace the heating element and fix the minor issues on the spot for about $250 + tax. We thought this was an excellent price and said yes to the repair so the original $85 inspection fee was waived. Not only did Robert already have all the parts with him for the repair but he took the extra time to thoroughly vacuum out all the dust/lint that had accumulated around the heating element/motor throughout the years. The entire repair was completed in about 1 hour from his arrival including the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of the entire dryer. The overall process and ease of working with Robert and Breaking Point Appliance Repair was unparalleled and we essentially have a brand new dryer again for a fraction of our original investment. We will definitely be using Breaking Point Appliance Repair in the future for any of our appliance needs and would highly recommend them to all. I have used this company twice now and after he was done the appliance worked. The thing I had the problem with is his communication. Multiple times he would say he would show up and never did. Not even a phone call. Every time I called him to ask him where he was it was the same response. "Who is this, what address, and what appliance is the problem". One day we realized that our fridge had stopped cooling. My family needed quick and affordable repair and thankfully Robert was available that same night! He was able to come by our house within a couple of hours. Once he got here he let us know that a hearing/defrost piece had failed and we needed a new one. Well we couldn't let any more food go to waste so he did a temporary repair job until we could get the piece ordered into town. I had breaking point appliance repair out to clean my dryer vent as well as address the error code my dryer was giving me. (Which I suspected was due to the dryer vent needing cleaned out). It turned out to be a huge job. He had to go into the attic to access the vent prior to where it went out of the roof. That is how clogged it was. It was a messy ugly job and I was so appreciative of a great attitude and that he did not shy away from the hard messy (hot in the attic) work it took to get the job done. He even went up on the roof to remove the lint that went out of the vent when the clog at the end finally broke free. The error code is gone as it was a result of the vent being plugged And the dryer is working like it should. I love this appliance repair. My 5 star choice. I have used them multiple times. Our Samsung refrigerator was acting funny a couple weeks ago when there was a really loud motor sound coming from the back. It turns out the cooling fan was rubbing against the ice buildup, which seems to be a common issue with Samsung fridges (not getting one in the future, that's for sure). After failed attempts of solving the problem with YouTube videos, I found Breaking Point via Yelp. Robert was very responsive via Yelp messaging and we managed to get an appointment set. He told me to turn off the fridge and let it defrost for 24-36 hours, and then turn it on a couple hours before he arrives. When he showed up, the fridge was still frozen over, and he said he would come back the following morning after it defrosted some more. Robert took all the shelves in the refrigerator down and took the back panel apart, and found the issue with the connector not properly powering the defrost. It was a relatively quick fix and he did several tests to make sure there weren't any other issues going on. He put back everything together and cleaned up after the job, and the price he charged was very reasonable. Overall, excellent job and if Yelp allowed for more stars, I'd add more to his rating. Breaking Point is now on my speed-dial for home repairs! read more

Jocelyn and Robert are awesome! Their customer service can't be beat, and I am SO RELIEVED to finally have a working refrigerator again. My fridge had been running at crazy high temperatures (65-67 degrees), and I had another company out at my house to fix it twice in one year. My food was going bad, and it killed me to be so wasteful all the time. I was very disappointed that whatever problem the fridge was having was never truly fixed, after spending a lot of money on "repairs." I called Jocelyn and Robert, and Robert was at my house within just a couple of days. Scheduling was very easy, and communication was great. Robert fixed my fridge completely, and I am so happy to report that it is actually cold when I open it! And my food has not spoiled. I've been really impressed with Breaking Point. I've used them a few times now and my go to for any type of appliance repair. One repair - another company could not figure out even talking with the rest of the repair guys at the other company. Robert studied the electrical map and figured out what was wrong. He's by far above others in the industry. For my rental, property Mgmt company suggested buying a new dishwasher for $700, he fixed it for ~$200. We had an issue with our GE oven, and got several quotes from businesses here on Yelp!! The part that separated Robert apart from the rest was that he was able to give us a real idea of cost for the work, in a best and worst case scenario. It was helpful for me to have an idea of what I'd be looking at cost wise, while understanding that it could change, it still helped me in knowing what to expect. We had previously been quoted by GE that our oven would have cost $500 to fix, but Robert was able to repair it for less than half of that in about 40 minutes. He is very helpful, knowledgeable and has a very professional demeanor. While he was fixing the oven, I had another question about an electrical issue that had been a problem in my house for weeks. IF it had been humanly possible, Robert would have saved my refrigerator. Due to another repairperson leaving out parts from my icemaker (saying they were broken) and thus the parts discarded...only later to be told they were needed...I ended up with a non -working icemaker. Unbeknownst to me, the parts are no longer made. None available on ebay. I read the reviews on yelp abut Breaking Point Appliance, and concluded that this company was my only hope of a repair. Robert tried Whirlpool to see if the 30+ parts it takes to replace the icemaker "apparatus" could be obtained, but Whirlpool no longer makes! (less than ten year old refrigerator!) Robert came over, spent time with me, made calls on my behalf, and communicated well with me. I could never ask for more. I recommend him highly.
