Made appointment for this morning, Patrick said he would be on his way and called me once he got to my complex. Ask for directions to my building number 10 but I just moved in I didn't have those specific directions it's not a very large complex. Told him I wasn't sure but it's building 10 and I go outside and look for him. The maintenance guy told me that he did come to the building and ask him for building 10. Patrick gave up and left and refused to answer my calls even after I texted him and told him I was outside looking for him. I waited two days for my appointment I really need my washer fixed. It was very unprofessional, and I'm very disappointed that he gave up so easily I called at least four times and he didn't answer my call read more

Mike was great. My 14 year old dryer was making a ton of noise. I called Mike after searching for reviews on yelp. He had an appointment available 3 days after I called. He was about 25 minutes early for our appointment. He got started taking the machine apart. As you can imagine the inside of the dryer had some lint in it. Mike took the time to pull out the lint by hand putting all the coins on top of the dryer. He asked me to come look at something and he found a small diamond that had come out of my husbands ring a few years ago. He found the source of the squeak and had the part in his car. He replaced it and was out the door for the price of his service fee and part. Total $130. I can't believe how reasonable his rates are for how good he is. I will be using him again. read more

So, full disclosure -- I never actually had to use their services -- but that's actually why I feel inclined to leave a super positive review. I called and spoke to Michael, I gave him a synopsis of my problem and he was able to tell me over the phone that he was 99% sure i needed a bearing which for the age of my unit was not a wise investment! He then proceeded to give me his thoughts on replacement units and why certain brands were better than others and how I could extend the life of our next washer and dryer even further. Seriously?!? How cool! He could've charged me for a service visit and given me the bad news in person after charging me $$$ -- but instead he was straight forward and honest -- and not only had nothing to gain, but something to lose in this case (a service visit!) Occam's Razor. The easiest explanation is most likely the correct one. It is this principle that I should have fully explored when my dishwasher suddenly ceased function. With an eye to fix it myself, I poured over the internet for the make and model of mine and after a exhaustive search I found a culprit that accounted for the symptoms of a nonfunctional control board and no apparent power to the appliance - a burnt out thermal fuse. Unfortunately I couldn't verify this was the case when I cracked open the control board myself, and the part wasn't easily purchased. So with a heavy heart I decided I'd better call a professional to take a look, frustrated with my inability to discern the problem. I made an appointment with Mike for Saturday. He offered to come by an hour after his listed service times for the day since he was already booked up and arrived precisely when he said he would. Polite and professional, he went to work as soon as his toolkit was put down. And solved the riddle of the dishwasher in a good thirty seconds. Having never dealt with a dishwasher with a wall switch cut off, located conveniently next to the garbage disposal, it never even occurred to me that was the issue. I don't need to tell you how big of a jackass I felt at that moment. Undeterred, Mike politely declined any offer of payment and explained that it was actually a common occurrence in our neighborhood where builders favored that particular type of cut-off for the washer. In any event, he took extra time out of his weekend to not only easily solve the issue, but did so professionally and tactfully - especially considering the aforementioned jackassery I felt. In the future, when any of my household appliances decide to freak out, burnt out, explode in a shower of sparks, etc., I plan on calling Mike back immediately. read more

Mike was fantastic from start to finish. Showed up on time, clean, well dressed, and polite. Was straight up with me and figured out the problem, gave me quote including labor and taxes, and because I told him I was flexible, an appointment to return the next day with the part he would go pick up for my oven. He called me a few hours before his appointment and said he was ahead of schedule and would I mind if he came early! now that is a first! Waiting on service to arrive and them coming early, LOL I wish the cable companies would take notes from Mike. I was thrilled because there was something I was wanting to work on making that afternoon so he came and fixed it, charged me within a couple dollars (literally like, within $5 I think) of his quote and was out. My electric dryer was running, but not drying. I took it apart in an attempt to diagnose, but wound up calling Mike. He came out and quickly diagnosed a problem with the 220 line coming into the dryer. He didn't charge me anything and even put together the parts of the dryer I had removed. Mike is fantastic! He's very professional and just a really good guy! This is the second time we've had him come out. The first time he was honest and forthright letting us know that it would be cheaper to replace our dryer than to fix it. He actually checked two dryers that we had and gave us this verdict and didn't charge us. I don't know about you but that said a lot to me about Mike's dedication and service! He came out today and replaced the igniter on our GE stove. (The stovetop was working but the oven wasn't) He was punctual to the minute and he even taught my wife a few features about the oven that we were not even aware of. Best service ever. Mike is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He tells it like it is, and provides you with ALL the options--even if it's better to fix something yourself or buy new. My over the stove microwave died and dishwasher died in the same week. I called up Mike and he scheduled an appointment that week to come out and take a look. I did my own research beforehand and pretty much determined that the magnetron was dead on the microwave, and the inlet value was dead for the dishwasher. When Mike came over, he checked out all aspects of the appliances, but came to the same conclusion. The inlet valve was easy enough for me to fix, but I wanted help with the microwave. He came by a second time once the magnetron was delivered and he fixed the microwave. However, he saw the condition of some of the other parts in the microwave and didn't think the unit would last. He said if it died in the near future, to give him a call back and we'll work out a new solution and work out the payment as well. Sure enough, after 2 days, the microwave died again. I decided to buy a new unit. Mike came back, helped install the new unit, and worked with me on the payment so I wasn't double charged. Mike's a great example of knowing about customer service. Mike just helped us fix a dishwasher and a refrigerator issue w/ our ice maker, and I have to say that I am completely blown away by how terrific this guy is. Seriously best service ever. He is honest, hard working, and very methodical in his approach so he really finds the root of the problem and isn't just randomly fixing things and charging you for repairs that might not even work. I love the fact that on his first visit, he just looked to see if simple things like changing a water filter for the fridge (which I'd neglected to do for 5 years!), or cleaning out the mini-disposal for the dishwasher would fix the problems... and he didn't even charge me for it! He only charged me anything after he actually did a repair, and even then, the price was more than reasonable. To top it all off, he's super nice and easy to talk to as well! I was put in touch with Mike Holmes through my home warranty (Home Warranty of America) after the electrical buttons on my washer stopped working. I thought it would be at least a couple of days before he could come by and check things out, but I was able to set up an appointment with him the very next day. He arrived promptly and was very courteous and got straight to work. He was able to determine that the electrical system needed to be replaced so he ordered the part and got in touch with me as soon as it arrived. He came back today, was done replacing the part in probably less than 30 minutes, and had me start a load just to make sure everything worked correctly. I definitely recommend Mike - his prices are reasonable, he's professional and he's normal. Mike came out to my house to fix our refrigerator because it wouldn't cool. When i called he said he could come out same day, but my schedule didn't allow for it so he came out on Sat. morn when i was available. He showed up about 5 minutes early and introduced himself. He was friendly, funny, and got straight to work. In 20 minutes he had the problem diagnosed (which was exactly what he guessed on the phone). He called the parts store and left to go get the part so he could fix the fridge the same day. His service was excellent. His demeanor was excellent. He explained the part, what it did, roughly how much it would cost and the pros and cons of new vs repaired. He even asked permission to leave his tools where they were so that he could get right back to work when he returned. This is service you don't get unless your lucky these days. Now I know why all the reviews here are 5 stars. Mike returned my call within the hour about fixing our washing machine. The seal on our front loader was torn and water was leaking from the door. He was able to come out the next day with the part and fixed the machine in about 45 minutes. Friendly, on time, helpful...what more could you want in a repair person. Mike Holmes is a really nice guy. My old dryer - purchased for $50 on Craigslist - developed a voracious appetite for socks, unmentionables, and other small items. The drum seal had worn out, and the gap between drum and dryer body had consumed a reasonably large portion of my wardrobe. Fire hazard? That's a whole nother issue. I called Mike based on Yelp reviews. He made an appointment for a specific time, and was punctual to the minute - no waiting around half a day, here. He showed me exactly what was wrong. He priced parts from his suppliers here in town and found them a little high, based on what I'd paid for the dryer. So he recommended me ordering parts from Amazon instead, where he thought (rightly) I'd be able to find them quite a bit cheaper. Mike offered to charge me half his labor fee that day (he reset the dryer drum so the gap was at the top and wouldn't eat so many socks), and the rest when the parts came in and he could come out to install them. Me being the kind of person I am, it took me about five months to get around to doing this - it wasn't urgent to me, since he'd gotten the dryer working at least. Finally, when I got around to it, he still remembered and honored the deal, and showed up every bit as punctually as he had the first time. Now my dryer dries much better and faster than it did when I bought it in the first place. So I recommend Expert Appliance Repair highly, and would only ask that you try to get something expensive to go wrong before you call him, because he didn't make much money off my job. read more

I found him thanks to your Yelp reviews and he came out (arrived early--unheard of!) and fixed my squeaky 20 year-old dryer. (While he was in there he patiently cleaned out 20 years worth of fuzz & such.) It's now working like a charm. I also have a brand new dishwasher and after 2 visits from the installer and 1 from the factory authorized folks, it wouldn't start. Turned out it wasn't installed correctly and was turning itself off when you closed the door. Within minutes Mike explained the problem, lowered & leveled it, replaced the screws that had fallen out and started it up. I couldn't be happier and can't say enough about this man--he's very accomplished, a very thoughtful and pleasant person, does just what he says he will, and his rates are very reasonable. He doesn't make extra 'surprise' repairs without your consent and he lets you know up front what the cost would be for any additional repairs if needed. Basically, he fixes what needs fixing and does a great job at it. He came out today because I smelled gas coming from the stove from time to time. It turned out there was a slow leak, which he fixed within an hour's time and charged a pretty fair fee. I am giving him a call in a week or so to replace the damaged ignition on the stove burners as well since they are cracked and won't light the gas properly. Mike is fantastic! He came over yesterday, after I had to reschedule our first appointment, and checked out my washer and decided the problem was the pump. He ordered a pump to bring back today. However, he told me to run the washer a few times between then and when he came out today to make sure I still hear the noise because he wanted to make sure. He came over today with the pump, and spent some time making sure that was or wasn't the problem as the sound that was coming from the washer was inconsistent. After about fifteen minutes he tells me he may have good news, but he wanted to make sure it was the case. A few minutes later, the problem is fixed and I'm embarrassed to tell you what it was because it was so simple, yet not something I would have ever guessed. He saved us the entire new pump repair by being kind enough to take the extra time to make sure it was what it was. In addition, scheduling with Mike was easy, prompt, quick, and he even kept making sure he didn't need to go right away when I scheduled the time yesterday a little too close to a time I had to leave. We gave him some chocolate chip cookies today and thanked him again, with my nine year old son saying, "He is the best!" after he left. I called Mike to fix my broken old school Kenmore washer, and he was there right on time, the very same day. Mike knew exactly what the problem was, had the part in his truck, and stuck to the quote that he had given me over the phone. He was fun to talk to, and very knowledgeable about appliances, old and new. He fixed my washer quickly, never wasted a second, talked me through cleaning out my dryer vent (for no charge got my dryer back on track), and gave me some sound advice on choosing washers. Mike even painstakingly took calls while the washer was taken apart and threatening to crush him. When I asked why he took a call with the disassembled washer leaning against him and a part in one hand and a screw driver in the other, he replied that one time, he missed a guy's call and then was unable to get in touch with him that day, and in return he got a bad yelp review. So now he risks life and limb to get to that phone to make sure he doesn't miss any calls. Wow! I urge you to please remember that Mike is only one person, is busy working all day everyday and answering calls himself, and only has two hands (because he is human) and be realistic with your expectations. Took a completely random stab after a quick scan of reviews here; saw this one was close where I live, so figured why not; at least likely to show up at some point (not always certain)... As it turns out, I discover that I somehow have the bizarrely good luck to come across The Greatest Old-School Repairman In The Entire World!!!!! :-D ...Okay so maybe that's a little hyperbolic - but not much! Showed up EXACTLY when he'd said - like to the SECOND - had it diagnosed in under a minute; declined to charge his normal rate because the job'd been "too easy" - even tho he'd had to go and grab the part from the supply place. Whole thing turnkey was no more than like an hour, tops - and cost approximately Nothing in comparison to what I'd worried it might be (and would've been, were Fox still doing appliances). Filled me in on when to draw the line between continuing repairing my now-absurdly-old clothes dryer vs. buying a new one - even took a moment to have liberated all the coins that'd been trapped in the tumblers for around probably a decade; didn't want to walk away and leave them there still rattling around :-) Anyway: My more selfish lesser-angels almost hesitated to give this review - out of concern next time I need him I might not be so lucky to have called when he's just randomly available that day :-D But, there isn't any gift that isn't better when it's shared - and so figured I owe it to somebody else to offer what the other reviewers here had offered me. I called Mike to install a gas cooktop where an older electric range had been, as well as an oven and new dishwasher. He came out the next day, spent about an hour taking a look at each appliance and regretted to inform me that there were a number of obstacles standing in the way of installation (my house was built in 1962 and has been Sideshow Bob rewired countless times with a whisper and a prayer....multiple appliance on the same circuit, as well as one appliance on multiple circuits?? Insane). So, I had my electrician out to handle that end, and thanks to Mike's diligent investigation, knew exactly what to ask him to fix. Mike came out the following Monday, squeezing me in at the end of the day, and he and his daughter, Sarah (Sara?) the Cat Whisperer, installed everything with precision and attention to fine detail.
