My two grand daughters attend this gym and we are in love with the gym and the coaches. They tried couple other gyms in the area and saw no progress but at American Flips they have learned so much in such a small amount of time and coaches give so much attention so each kid. If you have a knowledge about gymnastics then you will know the value of this gym in your first visit. My daughter did elite gymnastics until level 10, years ago and that's why I put my grand daughters to follow their mom and they are doing way more skills than their mom when she was little. I took my 5-year-old son for a Gymnastics trial; at the time of signing up under gender, we chose "prefer not to say" provided that my son identified with the female gender. He wants to do gymnastics which is not assigned a "SEX". We showed up at the trial class and my son is ready to go all excited, only to be struck down by a coach who does not realize that we live in a world where sex can be fluid. The head coach rejected him and stated he could not accept a boy in a girls' class. Should he wish to partake in gymnastics he would need to with the other boys. The coach continued by informing me, the parent, "It is the [parents] job to tell him, he has to do the boy's class, and go complain all I want." I do not need someone telling me how to parent my child, especially someone with such a mentality. Keep in mind, that my son is next to me as this is going on. Now, at this time and age, I do not believe the boys and girls have to be separated in anything, he is 5! He just wants to run, jump, and spend time with his friends. I am not training him for the Olympics. Coach E insisted that there are things he teaches to the girls the boys cannot do which is ridiculous at this age. They recommended pre-school classes which are mixed gender which does not apply to us. My son after we got home asked me "Why does that place like to crush little kid's dream?" I have no words for him. It is unfair for my son to be rejected like that. Even if he cannot sign up for the class at the end, I think they should still let him do the trial and talk to the parents in private after explaining. NOT JUST REJECT HIM AT THE DOOR. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AS THEY DO NOT TREATED EVERYONE HOW THEY SHOULD BE TREATED. read more

After reading the reviews I ignored the bad ones & went with the good ones thinking the coaches actually cared for the kiddos. Jokes on me. I went for my 4year old daughter $20 trial & definitely not going back! I do not recommend this place at all. I was sadly so disappointed. The 2 young girls they have as coaches were acting as if my daughter been in that class & knew the routine. Not ONCE did I see any of them directing my daughter. I didn't expect for them just to focus on her cuz she was new & obviously there's more kids. But I did expect "for them to guide her , to ask her to wait for her turn , or help her when she was struggling to get a step done. So She Can Learn!" none of that was done. When she was supposed to do a flip they let her slide instead, multiple times. Not once did my daughter do a flip because she was not asked to or shown how to. But they did helped "some" of the other kiddos.. Sad how mine was ignored on her first day. Lost a client on the trial. And not cuz she doesn't like gymnastics but cuz of the staff they have. I swear I almost got in to pull my daughter out of class. But she was excited. I knew she was going to cry if I did that. She's a kid after all & doesn't understand much of the situation. I literally felt like I took my kid to play at the park. So why pay ? When parks are free & could be there for longer than 30mins! My daughters in ballet , hip hop & has been in swimming classes & not ever have I gone through this with any of her coaches. It's always been professional. And coming from a mother that works with preschoolers herself , I am very very disappointed. Can't make this up. I don't win anything by lying. I do not recommend this place for gymnastics. Last year, my daughter broke her toe while doing a hand stand. When my daughter hurt herself , they didn't even offer any first aid or even bother to give her any ice for toe. They just sent her out the door with the injury. Terrible place. My 6yr old daughter comes here for girls 5-6. Very great balance of focused instruction, challenging drills, but not taking themselves too seriously. My daughters goal is to just get better - but she is not looking to do any serious performances. She just wants to be constantly challenged with new techniques, get some exercise, and have fun. My daughter thoroughly enjoys the gymnastics class and in the few months she's enrolled, I have seen great improvement. She is always enthusiastic to join the class. The issues I have though as a parent were the waiting area. I know this was for covid reasons but most everywhere has opened up and still there's no proper waiting area to watch our kid's progress aside from the benches outside, where it gets either too hot in the summer or too cold in winter months. Also they don't communicate my kid's progress. What does she need to learn and work on to advance to the next level? How can she work on them at home. It's almost like they assume parentals aren't interested in our kid's progress. read more

My 6 year old daughter loves coming here! She used to go to a different gymnastics place, where she wasn't learning any real gymnastics, it was mostly exercise and practically no guidance. When I first brought her to American Flips, she immediately got so excited on trying real gymnastics. In just a month she started doing hand stands. I love the coaches, they are very good at communicating, motivating, and supportive with each girl. This place is a gem! The staff is very kid-friendly and kind. The place is super clean and they have a lot of equipment. It's all in one room, so it's great for keeping an eye on your kid if you want to. They aren't letting parents indoors right now because of covid, but you can watch through the window. My 9 year old daughter is taking gymnastics classes with "American Flips Gymnastics", under the guidance of head coach "E". My wife and I really like the Gym staff and especially the head coach, Mr. E and his coaching styles(which are unique). I heard about the coach through my friend and then I did my research and read the reviews about the class. Once I enrolled my daughter, I realized it was the right decision. I drove all the way from Reseda to Cypress for the class every Saturday and spend over half day for the class because I need my kid to learn the art of the gymnastics from a right coach, especially who has years of coaching experiences, and most importantly has the track record as an athlete up to the Olympics who is popular and subject matter expert. The facility is nice and neat, and a friendly, professional environment, and charges are very fair, if a class is missed, help to assign a cover up class important, they were personally caring for each student and truly work hard to bring the kids to up to performance. Coach E is exceptional - we love his coaching style and he works so hard with each student. In the time that we've been here, my daughter has learned so many new skills and her confidence has grown considerable. Coach E has taught my daughter that she can achieve anything with hard work and dedication. When she first joined, she could barely do a cartwheel and now she is doing handstands, splits, bridge kickovers and back hand springs. We have taken our kids to try out 4, 5 different gyms before we decided to stick with American Flips. This gym is just recently opened. The equipment is new and the coach is very professional. He's patient but at the same time pushes our kids to try harder every session. The class size is small compared to other classes we attended. Our kids constantly work on something rather than sitting around waiting for their turn. We see their skills improve a lot just after a month of training. read more
