Yesterday was my first American Grub experience. I had the classic cheeseburger. One of the best cheeseburgers of my life! (and I'm old.)

I had high expectations going into having dinner here knowing the price of a burger was $14. Service was good. The cook on it was good, medium. There was little to no taste to the burger. Solid American Food. Menu has a long list of burgers: beef, turkey, vegetarian, and impossible plant based burger. Wrapping the burger protein style in lettuce is a no cost option. Sandwiches and salads complete the menu. I had the pulled pork grilled cheese. It was decadent without being heavy or too rich. The pork was moist and lightly seasoned with barbecue sauce. Thankfully the pork was not overwhelmed with too much sauce. The quality and freshness of the food was high. I also ordered the fried green beans with jalapeño ranch sauce. I seriously can not understand the rave reviews this place is getting. I am reasonably sure that the posted photos come directly from a food stylist (I have a friend who is one, I recognize the tricks) and not from actual customers. Our meal wasn't HORRIBLE, it was just kinda meh. And really OVERPRICED meh. We looked at the menu, chose our beers, only to be told that they were out of not only those, but two others as well. When you don't have a whole lot on tap as it is, you shouldn't be out of any of them. The BF and I ordered burgers and got an order of garlic fries to share since I had read about the anemic size of the potato salad that came with the burgers. OMG! The photographs of the potato salad don't really show accurately just how miniscule the portion actually is! If anyone in this day and knows what a thimble is, the potato salad serving would have fit nicely inside of one. The burgers were ok, nothing wrong with them, but they weren't really great. The garlic fries were so overwhelmingly garlicky, undercooked and oversalted that we couldn't even eat them. And we are garlic LOVERS! I put 4 cloves in my fresh lemon pasta sauce all the time. When we got the bill I couldn't quite believe it. How could we have spent almost a hundred dollars (with tax and tip) for food this mediocre? I don't have a big appetite and I RARELY finish any meal that I order anywhere. I can get breakfast, lunch and dinner out of a 2 item combo of Indian takeout! I ate the entire burger here. And I was still HUNGRY. This NEVER happens! The BF actually pulled the car over and felt my forehead when I asked him if we could stop somewhere for dessert or a snack before we went home. Urban/industrial little sandwich and berg place nestled into Old Town Tustin. Their food is delicious - they don't skimp on the garlic in their fries - and they have a decent beer selection. My only complaint is that their daytime waitstaff leaves a bit to be desired. I had great service on a busy night, and was practically ignored during the day. read more

What a joke I went here once and thought I found some new good place then we went back again and it was like a whole nother restaurant they couldn't even put ice in the soda lol they might ordered some joke of some fried chicken and it look like it was bite size all in all the potato salad was pretty good lol but that was the only thing good out of this whole meal I drove an hour to eat here and left hungry thank God Peter's gourmet was open at the time cuz I was still hungry and that made me happy lol read more

While walking through this really cool part of Tustin, we stumbled upon American Grub. It's Friday night, the place was packed; yet the wait time was only about 15 minutes. The atmosphere was excellent. There are numerous menu options. The wait staff was very attentive; they worked together to make sure all patrons were promptly taken care of. We ordered the Guilty Burger, Bacon Bleu Burger, garlic fries, Mac & cheese, sweet potato fries and peach cobbler. They all were delicious. One of the things that I found really cool is the Instagram Follower Counter on the wall that updates the number of Instagram followers in real time. My husband tested it. He followed the restaurant on Instagram and within one minute, the counter updated from 8767 to 8768. Super cool! I met some friends who drove in from Colorado and who wanted to visit the Tustin Museum on EL Camino Real. Not familiar with the area, I Googled restaurants near the Museum and found American Grub. I have never been there so I was thrilled to find this wonderful place. Even on a Saturday morning at 11AM they were filling up with a line forming outside. What does that tell you! I found that their menu was just what I like. Delicious burgers on brioch rolls. Many other things...check them out. The mushroon/swiss burger was the best I have ever had. Their staff met me at the door and checked on me until my party arrived. Friendly people for sure. I will definately drive back there all the way from Anaheim Hills. Tbh burgers are whatever to me. But for the first time I ate here and was like damn that's a good burger. I had the guilty burger. I love that the gave me full pieces of bacon and didn't skimp on it. Excellent 'grub!' Prompt service out on the patio. The El Camino burger was awesome, perfectly balanced but spicy enough. The gluten-free bun was actually really good and only 75 cents more. My wife got the Cajun chicken sandwich which was perfectly spiced and on what she said was excellent Texas toast. Both were served with a small amount of good tasting potato salad. The Cajun tots were served right away for us to enjoy before the food came. Quick and very tasty, we'll be back next time we're in the area. read more
