I've been in LA for 15 years, and before coming here, before the pandemic, I must have tried 25 places - all hit and or, unfortunately, bad. My gel nails ALWAYS look great and last longer than I thought they would. They do not time their after-manicure massage on either the hands or feet. (Fabulous pedicures, too! Let me just start by clarifying that this review is in regards to the service I received for my manicure. To start off, I arrived at 9:30 to the location and it was closed. Their business hours are listed as opening at 9:30. After returning shortly after 10, I was told that I should come at 10 next time. Why list your "new" business hours as 9:30-7:30 on Monday if you're just going to open at 10? Being the first customer I was seated upon arrival. The man doing my manicure was not friendly and was very unprofessional. He was constantly stopping to text on his phone for minutes at a time. I will admit he did a good job on my nails but his attitude and demeanor was very off putting. If anything saved this place, it was the woman who did my pedicure. She was very nice and didn't push me into any add one I didn't feel like I needed. She was great and stopping at points to make sure I was happy with how it was turning out so far. I appreciated her input and tipped her accordingly. This was my second time here, the first time wasn't amazing but I did feel like it was good enough to merit coming back. I'm torn. I'll start with the PROs. PROs: By far this is probably one of the best nail spas in the L.A. area. Yes, I know sometimes they screw up and they can get a little rough. But I'm telling you, I now live in Torrance, and I work in Monterey Park, so since I moved away from West L.A., I've gone to many places around the city trying to find detailed, attentive mani-pedi treatments. It's hard. Most places are finished with you in 20-40 minutes, because they're rushing for the next appointment. Other places slap a lot of product on my skin that dries out my hands and makes them look older. At one place, I got a gel treatment for the first time in years (I've only worn a gel one time ever); it looked clumpy, not smooth. At two different locations, my nail shape was slanted and uneven. Other places massage you for about 30 seconds to a minute and move on. So abysmal. I just happened to be in the L.A. area yesterday and dropped by my old stomping ground. These girls remembered me even though I haven't been there in about a year! I felt like I was coming home. I was in the chair for over an hour. My manicure was on point, all the dead skin on my cuticles was fully removed and my hands looked years younger. Nail shape absolutely perfect. Same for my pedicure. They massaged my legs, feet, arms, hands for a good 5 to 7 minutes. I closed my eyes and sat back in the chair because it's been such a long time since I've had it this good. CONS: I really want to give this place 5 stars. But I will keep my rating at 3. First, there is the long wait. This time, I only waited about 20 minutes for the chair. But back in the day, I waited far longer. Over an hour. Also, these ladies tend to get rough while trying to be thorough. There were a couple of times when I squirmed because they were digging or cutting too deep. Finally, I was not comfortable yesterday when one of the girls threw her arms around my neck, surprising me from behind. She breathed directly in my face and whispered that she wanted to be paid in cash because she gave me hookups I didn't ask for. She may have been sick because now my chest and throat are sore. She made it clear several times throughout the visit that she wanted cash. I love the jobs they do, but the professionalism still needs work. read more

Flip flops $2, foot scrub $5 but the kicker... sitting in a spa chair $5. I thought i was off to the side because the chairs were occupied. Once both freed up i asked to sit in the chair when it was time to polish (sitting in a chair with wheels with feet propped at an uncomfortable height isnt at all what ive ever experienced) and was told no. After 3-5 mins of trying to communicate and explain why i wanted to move i was told i could for $5 even tho i wouldnt be using spa tub or massage. Literally just sitting down. So customer service but again, great tech. Luckily i already have a preferred shop so no need to return. I do appreciate they were able to accommodate but to get your money's worth, would go elsewhere. Maybe they dont expect tips so they charge for everything. I still tipped but due to miscommunication with staff they had to run my card 3x. The place was really rather small and I did have to stand for a bit, but I managed to get a seat. I talked with a regular who had been going there for years and she totally swore by them after I voiced some of my concerns with her. I did wait about thirty minutes, but I didn't have an appointment and I wanted a gel manicure, full set, with a pedicure. Not sure what everyone was talking about with bleeding cuticles or unsanitary conditions, because the guy who did my nails did them very well. They are sturdy, evenly shaped, all the same size, and painted nicely. They were all very friendly and the camaraderie was all very good. They were gentle, thorough, very skilled, and the workmanship was very good. The lady doing my pedicure did ask if I wanted callous remover for five dollars more, and I told her no thank you. I'm not sure she understood, because she did it anyway, but all in all, my hands and toes came out very nice. It is on the pricier side- I paid $59.00 for the gel nail set, pedicure, and callous removing, but it was well worth it. I was so satisfied I paid over 20 percent in tip. I rarely treat myself to a manicure and was so excited about trying out dip powder nails. It was a Sunday so a lot of nail shops were closed and I found this one that had ok reviews. Should have done my research. The worst nail experience in my life. When I walked in they barely acknowledged me, I waited for quite some time. I almost walked out and wish I had. The lady I ended up with did such a terrible job with my nails. She cut my cuticles with the electric drill that she used to file. They were bleeding while she was doing the last cost of polish. I have never cried in a salon before but this was so terrible. She ended up putting a white coat of dip polish over the sparkly one that I had asked for. She had to drill all of that coat off creating dips and weird edges and filing off some skin along with it. They are so bulky and ugly I cried the whole drive home. I have learned my lesson. I will never return to this shop. Now I have to wait for my cuticles to heal so I can go elsewhere to have them fixed. read more

I didn't think much of it until I saw the white lady getting her pedicure. She didn't have a face shield on. I've come here three times to get my nails done. The first time was good but took over an hour from when the lady started working on my nails. She seemed a little inexperienced and slow but I liked the end result. The next two times however were not great. The second time I came the lady messed up two of my nails when painting and had to start over and that took a long time to get fixed. Also two different nails were misshapen, and one of my thumbs was left much longer than another. I had to file said nails at home to get the shape properly. I didn't notice this as she was doing my nails because she seemed anxious about fixing my two nails she had to start over with. The wait was about 30 minutes with an appointment. The last time I never ended up getting my nails done. I made an appointment and called beforehand to check in and they told me to still come in at my appointment time of 10AM. Upon arriving I was told the wait was about 15 minutes with my appointment. At the 25 minute mark I asked if I would be seen soon and I was brought to sit at one of the tables and given the color wheel to look at. At about 40 minutes I asked again how long it would be and I was told that they just needed five more minutes. I ended up waiting over an hour in total until I was told "15 more minutes" again. I left after having wasted my morning without a single apology directed at me. I waited because I really wanted to get my nails done and knew that there would be a walk in wait at every other place in the area on a Saturday (which is why I made the appointment to begin with). The colors they offer are also pretty limited. I returned the third time hoping my experience would be more like my first visit and because it's a familiar place near my boyfriend's apartment. I just got my nails done there. I got a full set of acrylics with french tip and gel. The total came out to $33.00 and I think it's totally worth it. Bill did a fabulous job, he did exactly what he was told. He's very thorough and gentle. That's what I like. The only reason why I took off one star is that the place looks ghetto. I'm super picky and I swear I micro manage people who do my nails. I get overly dramatic when it's not the way I want it. Overall I'm am very happy with my nails. :-) Cheers! Great service BUT even though they attempt to disinfect there materials I saw them not do it long enough. I was cut twice once on my foot and once in my hand... It's not the first time it happens here but certainly the last. It worries me that because they don't really disinfect there material I can catch something from a cut from the material. The woman who did my pedi/mani cut way to much skin off that my big toe got infected after she cut me. It took about a month to get my skin back to normal. I don't think I will be returning ever. I am very disappointed because I did love the amount of time they spend on you. I have to stop cheating on Helen's and stop going to these other places. Great attention to detail. This was my first time getting my nails done so I'm glad that they listened to what i wanted especially in regards to the length of the acrylics. But I have to give 1 star because of hygiene. They cut the cuticles roughly enough to cause bleeding on two of my fingers. But instead of cleaning and waiting for the bleeding to stop the nail technician continued. I probably wouldn't have mind if she continued with stuff that could be sterilized but she also painted my nails while they still bled. Very unsanitary and I can't imagine the amount of blood mixed with the nail polish considering how many reviews mention bleeding. I was referred to this place from by an aquaintance of mine. It was friday night and i was immediately put off by the size of the place. The place is really small and it was packed. I had to leave and shop before they could take me. The experience was ok but they do not have any massage chairs....gasp...wtf????? everyone has a massage chair nowadays. Keep up with the times. The people there are very nice and accomodating but I couldnt really relax because there were sooooo many people and it was soooo cramped. The good part is that they wax eyebrows, the bad part is that they do them in the middle of the room in front of everyone. Once again WTF???? Where is the privacy. HORRIBLE!!! If I could give no stars I would. I came in for a fill with reshaping and a pedicure. Everything started out fine with a man (I got no name) doing my fill. He seemed to be rushing which might have knocked one star. The woman doing my pedicure kept knicking me and hurting me as she treated my cuticles. Ok enough but then...someone else comes in and the guy doing my nails just gets up and leaves me to go work on her! No explanation, nothing!!! He never even stopped to look at his work and yes my nails were crooked! He never compared them to each other so now I have different lengths and different shapes. So a woman comes and takes over and asks what color I want and I say I want matte lavender. At the same time the woman doing my toes asks and I say royal purple. So toes lady (never got names as no one spoke to me ever!) brings over the wrong colors. some purple that actually looks blue. I said no that's not royal purple, she just looked confused. So I google a pic and show her and she says they don't have that. Okkk... You don't have any darker purple? No. You can go look. So I get up, feet slippery still and go look and low and behold..,royal purple! Right there on the shelf! So right when I sit down the nail woman brings over pink instead on lavender! I say no that's not lavender and again show her a pic I had to google. Again we don't have that. At this point I'm like are you serious? I don't like any of these colors. And again she says you can go look, and again I get up with slippery half painted feet and go look and oh my!! Lavender right there!! Omg it doesn't end there.. I show her a pic of diamonds I want and she says I don't have anything that size...ok so what do you have?? She brings all her diamonds over and what would you guess??? The right size!! I should have just did my own nails!!!!!! And just to finish this headache inducing experience off right, she paints the gloss top coat in instead of the matte. I correct her and she re does it but it's too late for the diamonds. One hand is cloudy from being painted over and one gets to have gloss in between the diamonds. And of course when I say something she says there's nothing she can do. Ok so i had to leave. No tip, and never ever ever coming back!!!!!!
