Food is delish- i ordered the avocado toast with egg and the soup of the day (french onion) and my husband had the crab omelette. his potatoes were beyond delicious. all the food we tried was yummy. However- we had a small issue with my husband's dish and communicated to the host our concern. The host and the cooks took care of the issue immediately and continued to aim high with their accommodations until the moment we left. The host is such a nice guy. So lemme tell you something- the biscuits there are to die for! Just amazing. Was in Santa Rosa One morning and was searching for a quick bite to eat, or a coffee shop to perch for a bit. Armericana!! showed up so decided to give it a go. Love the exterior of the building, its in the down town area so there is parking all over with street parking meters as well. The Americana is inside a small shopping mall didn't have a chance to check it out but there were a couple more storefronts and I want to say a small lounge area. They have a small stand before you enter if you would just like to purchase their baked good (cookies and daily baked goodies they have) Right away the host and the waiters were very friendly giving it a real homey feeling, the interior has a barn rustic style. Felt light you were in the presence of a warm light. pleasing. We had the cup of cafecito y una Michelada(CANT HELP IT) It's a farm-to-table joint so everything comes locally, helping the farmers to keep doing what they do to feed their and our families. Perfecto! Ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken con dos eggs sunny side up and crispy hash browns. The chicken was juicy yet super crunchy, gravy was nice and hot definitely gave it a hearty feeling. Walked in and stood at the please wait to be seated sign. About thirty seconds later a lady sitting next to the door finished chewing and told me to "go on in" which I took for seat myself. Food took forever. Bit pricey, but Sonoma county, what do you expect? For $20 I'd expect two biscuits and gravy to at least be a real portion size. This was one biscuit in half. It was hardly the size of a fork. Spinach that came with wasn't even cooked or tossed in anything. Waitress disappeared without checking after food was dropped so I sat there without water or anything to wash food down with. Not like the place was busy, I was one of three tables. Told someone, not my server, i was done with my meal and it took another five minutes to find server and get my check. What food there was was good, so that's why it's not a 1 star review. Staff was apologetic when I voiced my disappointment, which was at least nice. They weren't rude at all, just inattentive. May try again in a few months and hope they sorted their problems out. Well the ambiance and service (once we were greeted by server) are amazing without question. I also have to respect the values this restaurant incorporates into the food it puts out. They locally source the majority, if not all, of their supplies. Meat from local farms, bread from local bakery's, etc. It can be a bit more costly to go this route so I understand that plates here are a few bucks more, though I feel the quality is worth it. After waiting for 10/12 minutes I flagged someone down and asked if we could have water and were ready to order. After that our server arrived with no further issues service wise. My son ordered the chicken fried chicken and I had the 2 eggs breakfast. We waited quite some time mind you it's fresh and made to order in house so we are understanding but still hungry! When our plates arrived i immediately saw that my son's plate chicken fried chicken (25.50) was the size of one chicken strip. After quickly flagging our server I pointed out the portion and asked if this was indeed the correct portion. He agreed it was on the small side and promptly had another piece of chicken made for my boy. The owner, who I've forgotten her name right now, came over and explained where the hiccup likely occurred. I'm a fan of locally sourced food that's ethically produced. When a brekkie place sources true cage free organically fed chicken eggs, I pay attention. I've had several amazing experiences with Americana from burgers to huevos rancheros. And their jumbo choc chip cookies are crave worthy. To note, the use virtually no salt- this health approach for a sodium watcher like me lets me add just a bit where I want it without feeling puffy after a big meal like elsewhere. Their format is a little different; you order when you first walk in at the counter and then get seated. The restaurant is in a small building with a few shops inside. We were seated just outside the restaurant in kind of a courtyard area (inside). My husband ordered their chilaquiles and I had their two egg breakfast with potatoes and sausage. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. My husband said his chilaquiles were some of the best he's ever had. Spicy. The sausage was great and my eggs were cooked perfectly. I'm trying to understand what happened today after buying 1 fried chicken sandwich on a gigantic way too large bun. Oh, it came with a very small handful of nubby sized French fries also. The order was to go. The cost was $35. Looking back, I don't know why I went through with the transaction. Sunday was a bust. $71 before tip. I would give it a shaky five out of 10. The coffee is organic which is neither here nor there, but the mugs were thick and they cooled the coffee too fast and adding cream just made it more tepid. I asked if they had a microwave, they said no. H had eggs benedict for about 25 bucks, a mimosa for 15, and then coffee for two set us back 9. I had eggs and potatoes for about 16. There was no option on the menu for eggs plus some sort of meat, and potatoes or toast/biscuit, but you could add sausage for another six bucks or so. I asked for home fries rather than hash browns. My plate arrived with two eggs and hash browns. We sent it back. It returned with potatoes and the same eggs, now cold. The so-called home fries were nothing more than potatoes, crispy and golden, but no spices, no onion, no rosemary, nothing to set them apart from bare potatoes. (Ha, my phone is trying to say bear potatoes, I'm trying to imagine what that would be like? Shaped like bears? Hopefully not made from bear!) Anyway, we won't be going back. Really not a good dining experience. We ordered two burgers, the chilaquiles, and a 2-stack of pancakes. The burgers were pretty bad. I ordered medium rare and the burger came medium well. (I did mention the burger doneness to the server with the intention to pass the message along to the kitchen.) The quality of the beef was great, but there was no seasoning whatsoever in the meat. I've never once bit into a burger and said "wow, this needs salt." The tomato slice was totally anemic. For a place that prides itself on farm to table ingredients... what about just not serving out of season produce? There are no local tomatoes in May. The fries with my burger were supposed to be "shoestring" fries according to the server. Definitely not the case. They were crispy on the outside and completely dry on the inside. Bad. My wife had the same complaint about her burger. She got onion rings and they were decent for the first bite or two but became completely limp and inedible after a couple minutes. The pancake was dry and very average, unbecoming of a $14 plate of two pancakes with some underripe fruit and butter. My sister's other dish, the chilaquiles, looked pretty good. I had a bite of the chips with the green salsa and they were tasty enough. I am quite appalled at how expensive our meal and two iced coffees cost. $88.49 before tip. I will under no circumstances be returning. Better burgers at Beer Baron, Superburger, or pretty much anywhere else. Better prices literally anywhere. Avoid. read more
