We unfortunately noticed our car was leaking from the driver's side, so I started calling different…read moreshops in the area hoping to find a mechanic who could help us. The first place I called was Joe's Auto Repair in Northridge, and I'm so glad I did! Joe answered the phone himself and took the time to listen to what was going on. I mentioned that I had photos and a video of the leak, and he told me to send them over so he could take a look. His schedule was already full for the weekend, so he initially offered us his first available appointment on Monday. When I explained that getting there Monday would be difficult because of my work schedule, he said, "Okay, bring it by first thing Saturday at 9 AM and I'll take a look at it." Not only did Joe find the problem, but he stayed well past closing to make sure our car was fixed! He was upfront about the pricing, explained everything clearly, and even gave us helpful pointers for our next maintenance service. We felt like he was genuinely honest, trustworthy, and just an all-around nice guy. Everyone wants a mechanic they can trust, and we're so happy we found Joe and his shop. He informed me of what was leaking and told me to bring the car back the next day as he was quite busy that morning already. It was a valve cover gasket that needed to be replaced. I also asked to have the transmission fluid drained and replaced. Costs to repair these items were a little over 1K but do come with warranty (see paper receipt for info) He quoted that it would be ready by the end of the day around 2-3pm. Once I arrived at the shop, my car was ready as quoted. He has a really good team working well together to get customers' cars out in a timely manner. So far, my car is running well, and I will continue to monitor for any oil leaks (crossing my fingers that we nipped the issue) and I had a great experience overall.

I currently own a Honda CRX, my older brother drives around a Celica '84, and our family Ford Windstar van always gets serviced by Jose. I have had transmissions changed out by him for our Ford, I have gotten my DMV certified smog checked done by Jose, and even heater by pass or what have you done by this guy. After he's done, since I live so close he just drops it off at my house. You might think that this review is too personal, but that's the kind of guy Jose is. We believe in his service and we're still willing to put money on him to fix our cars. He's an honest man with honest prices, would not be returning to him if it wasn't the case. I even broke down on my van last week in Ridgecrest, 140 miles away from home (and my mechanic). I called him up because he knows the most about my car because he's been under it's hood so often. It's currently with him in the shop but from leaky transmission to engine rebuilt, this guy and his team will do it all!

After trying a few smog places in the area that had inconsistent hours and obnoxious staff, we gave Ace a shot and were amazed by the full service they provided; trucks were rolling in and out like well oiled machine. Jose then gave us some good advice on what to watch out for on our fleet of W4500s and since then has been our mechanic for all of our vehicles, business and personal. Again, I like to do my own maintenance on my vehicle, but sometimes the job requires a little too much time to handle or, it's a timing belt and shot motor mounts all around (thanks Honda). Regardless, Jose and his guys take care of it all, they're happy to provide me with the old broken parts to show what went wrong, and are always at a good price. At this point, the only mechanic I trust with my car, with 200K miles to prove it.

I am disappointed with this shop. I went after seeing good reviews.Although, I like the customer…read moreservice from owner and the technician. I went in for transmission fluid change earlier in February in my Toyota Camry 2018. I bought OEM Toyota transmission fluid and asked Joe to help do drain and fill.The drain and fill was completed. After that there was a rough driving issues started. I went back to show my car to joe and he drove the car he told me he don't see any issues. I wanted him to check transmission fluid port on if there is low transmission fluid he didn't agree and told me I might be overthinking. I went to different mechanic in April and he checked. I paid $100 to reopen the port for transmission fluid and what we saw was no fluid came out from the primary port. He added 0.5 quarters left. The issues I have had for rough idle and need to have higher RPM on slope went away completely.According to him you have to keep the car running when you drain the fluid and you need to have it at the right temperature he said the drain and fill wasn't done correctly that's why there was still room for fluid. The viscosity of the fluid makes a difference in how much you can fill and drain. He double checked for leakage and there were no leaks either. When I went to joe and asked about don't you have to keep car warm to see if temperature is right? He said you only do it when there is a leak. I don't think Joe knew enough about mechanics of New car. I wasn't overthinking when I went to ask Joe for help and asked to recheck the transmission fluid. I paid $260 for labor only( $160 to Joe and $100 to another mechanic) for same job. It's really absurd. Overall this could have damaged my transmission. I think for future the customer advise should be taken seriously. I know my car well so I know when it's not acting good. I have been driving it from 10 years.
