Having lived on the I island full time for six years I don't know wow why we juustst recently discovered this place. Looks like it is in an old Dutch Kettle building. I keep saying I'm going to order something different but the Huevos Rancheros are spectacular and I haven't deviated. Ranchero sauce is just the right amount of spicy , the refried beans have great flavor and consistency and I ask for the potatoes to be well done. Lump all this into one of their fresh, buttery flour tortillas and you've got yourself a delicious meal. It's extra but I get a side of bacon (crispy) and throw that in there too. They'll cook the eggs however you wish, I like mine over medium. It's a lot of food snd really could be shared. Coffee and tea are pricey at $3.95 per but the $12 platter is worth it. OK, OK, OK, we have lived on the island since 2018 and I am sorry to say we thought this place was closed. However, the other day, I was leaving a doc appt and noticed cars and people inside. I thought what the heck! Drove home picked up the fam and headed over. Had the pork chop with eggs and I forget the name of the other dish but it was egg, sausage, hash browns and pancakes!! Man, this place is simple and not fancy but the food and the service were just outstanding!!! I mean it's a good down home solidly cooked (someone cares) in the kitchen kinda place! Their hours are good enough and even though they close early they offer lunch and dinner menus. I can't wait to go back. BTW I hate coffee, had two cups!! Service was poor. Husband and I stopped because we were in search of ice cream and a bathroom. Google pointed us to America's Kitchen. We drove around in circles trying to find it amongst the big hospital area. We finally located it, walked in and was greeted by a server. I asked if I could get ice cream to go and she said they didn't have ice cream. I then asked about other desserts, and they had two, cheesecake and something else. I wasn't too impressed. I then asked if my hubs could use the bathroom, and she said it was for paying customers only. EYE ROLL!!! I get they don't want a flood of non-buying customers, but we tried to spend our money there. We really tried. Stopped by here for breakfast during our trip to Galveston and we were not disappointed! This was one of the few places open for dine-in during these hard times and we were happy to give it a try. First off, the staff are incredibly friendly and we saw them routinely sanitizing the tables/counters/ and all things the staff touched which was very reassuring. We decided to try this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. it was quiet; no crowd. Near UTMB so it gets a lot of traffic from there. Not much in decor, but it is very clean. We ordered pancakes, bagel and cream cheese, eggs, hash brown with onions, biscuits and a ham steak. Everything was VERY GOOD except the ham steak. It WASN'T a ham steak. It was slices of ham stacked on top of each other. I told my server I didn't want it, so she took the extra fee for the ham steak off my ticket; however, she did offer me a substitute meat. When I went to pay, I saw I was billed for a meat breakfast, so that didn't make me happy. I will definitely not get ham steak again. Otherwise, the food was really good. I will try it again; hopefully the server will be a bit more helpful. read more

Maybe it was just a bad day, but food was no very good. My omelette was well, terrible. Other than the bacon it was truly bad. Very thin and so over cooked I mainly ate the bacon and cheese. The hash-browns were good. My wife had Migas that were more of an odd tortilla chip or something with a small bit of overly cooked eggs. I don't think we will ever return. read more

I have lived in Galveston for more than 20 years and I can't say I have ever been here. Decided to try it based on positive reviews I saw elsewhere. The servers were very nice, and service was fast. We had our drinks almost immediately and the food was very fast. The biscuits were soft and buttery, just like I like them! The gravy was a good country cream gravy. The waffle halves on the waffle two step were different than other Belgian waffles I have had- it was very dense and the texture was like it was coated with sugar before it was grilled/toasted.
