They had lean, crispy bacon, sausage links/patties, biscuits, toasts, pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, cereal & milk, fruit, breakfast pastries, grits, hash browns, and surprisingly tamales. They have all the essential, typical, American breakfast. Everything was well made. Service was great. Only complaint would have to be the seasoning. I was so thirsty throughout and after the meal. I love the idea of America's Kitchen. It's the reality I don't care like. I ordered a combination breakfast that included pancakes. I ordered them with pecans. They came out plain, because, "We're out of pecans." I wish I'd been asked my preference, because I would have asked for another filling, like blueberry, instead. I was told I could get a cup of blueberries to toss on top of the pancakes, because, to America's kitchen, that constitutes a blueberry pancake. At this point, I decided to forego the pancakes. I ate my eggs and grits quickly and went to the counter to pay. The bill came to nearly $12. "For eggs, grits and coffee?" I asked. "I charged you for everything,the waitress-cashier said. We had a brief discussion about my not receiving the pancakes I ordered. The waitress finally relented, knocking $3 off the bill, warning me that A.K. would not be as flexible next time. read more

We attempted to come here for breakfast on our last day in Galveston. There was a party of 8 before us waiting. They told the staff they did not want to wait until a large table was available and was fine with being separated. Another waited told my party of 3 to follow up and someone from the party of 8 stopped us to let the waiter know he was first. They sat some of the party of 8. A moment later a larger table was available. Instead my party being sat, a girl who was behind my group was sat. She told the waiter we were here first but she told them we would be taken care of next. We were not taken care of. It seemed odd that my group that included a couple of African Americans were treated this way. This experience left a bad taste on our mouth for our trip to Galveston. read more

We happened on this place looking for breakfast. What a find in a town where breakfast can cost double digits and leave you hungry. My over easy eggs were perfect, the biscuits and gravy could have used a little more seasoning, but salt and pepper fixed that, the two strips of bacon and two links of sausage made the meal last most of the day. My wife had Eggs Huevos, the second day scrambled eggs and french toast, She reported it excellent. All this for under $7. We did bring in our own coffee from Starbucks down the street. No fancy decorations here, just a clean, plain country kind of cafe with extremely efficient, friendly staff. Needless to say, we returned two days later and will so again on our next visit to Galveston. Check it out, you won't be sorry! read more

Look weekends in Galveston Can be really tough to find somewhere you can walk in with no wait time and be served. And that's exactly what happened here, we walked in and were served fast. This place has been on my radar for years and for whatever reason, I've never made it in. Well, I have the day off and I decided to come here. I was looking for a buffet, but didn't realize they only have the breakfast buffet on weekends. The restaurant is nothing to look at, so if you're looking for something to impress your out of town guests, this is not the place. However, it is a good, old fashioned, family style, Galveston diner experience for us locals. It is a good place to bring the kids too. Not full of tourists and I had the impression it is run by a family. I was greeted by a nice man in jeans, who seated me and got me my drinks. Then he actually waited on me as well, although there were other servers there in uniforms. They were all very friendly and attentive. My coffee was refreshed several times and they checked on me throughout the meal. I ordered a Mexican combination plate. It had eggs with tomatoes and peppers. It was served with potatoes, refried beans, salsa and delicious flour tortillas. I also ordered a side of bacon. It came out in about ten minutes, all fresh and cooked to order. It was a lot of food, but I ate everything! I couldn't help myself. The meal came to 12.98 including tax, which is very good by Galveston standards. For me it is ideal, but I have to make a few Restaurant Impossible type suggestions for the owners. New carpet, brand name Ketchup, clean the dirty ceiling tiles and do something to update the restrooms. They aren't dirty, but being so close to the water, the metal is all corroded. Just needed a face lift and some TLC. If it weren't for these issues, they would have gotten that 5th star. read more

We had the chicken fried steak, French toast and eggs and bacon. The chicken fried was one of the best I've had and the rest of the food was gone in seconds, so it had to be good right? I ain't from around here. Every place we wanted to eat at on the Seawall was packed. On the way to the ferry, we found this place on yelp. Gotta love when you can walk right in and be served so quickly. We got the breakfast buffet. I may not need to eat again for 3 days. Scrambled egged were a bit runny but when I try to scramble 15 eggs at a time, I inevitably get them way too dry. I may copy their style. The eggs were good.
