Called for an apptm to bring in my car as the rear tire picked up a screw on the highway and had a slow leak. In less than 1/2 hour they had me back on the road with a repaired tire which they fixed and balanced for no charge. This was not a tire purchased at America's Tire as it was an original tire on our 2019 Acura MDX. Service was efficient and very professional and I'll certainly visit their center the next time I need replacement tires for any of our cars! read more

Bought 4 new tires + mounting. One would think that a specialized tire store would get the basics right, but: 1. One tire was flipped inside out 2. One tire was poorly balanced 3. Tire pressure across 4 tires was uneven, from -10% to +20% off recommended values Went back. #1 was quickly fixed, #2 was attempted but is still not perfectly balanced. Will need to go back a second time. On the upside, the employees were friendly and service was reasonably quick. But the actual work quality needs to improve. Cannot recommend this store. read more

Came in for a tire repair after Costco said the staple holes could not be repaired. I came in willing to pay for a repair but the employee said it would be free. The employee said gave me an estimate of 2.5hrs and he said he would give me a call when it was ready. 3 hours later no call so I come back in the store and he gives me my tire back. The center cap of my tire was missing and he said an employee took it. What kind of employee steals a center cap??? And what employee tells the customer another employee just took it... Kind of dishonest. I would give this place 0 stars if you actually needed to pay for the repair. read more

It was the longest wait ever, over 3 hrs to have new tires put on. But, this is not my concern as shops get busy. My complaint is they put on new tires, but somehow managed to put on used/old tire nuts that were excessively stripped. I am not a resident of Mountainview and only noticed the worn/damaged nuts when I got home (Canada) while doing a seasonal tire change over. This incident left a real bad taste in my mouth. They do not even deserve the 1 star! Not being able to handle the high volume of business, as result, long wait times is tolerable, but dis-honesty is totally unacceptable. read more

It really feels like they want to first and foremost help you. My car had a chronic flat tire, and I had gotten complacent in the routine of: low pressure warning light illuminating, refilling air at a gas station, the tire deflating, and repeat. I had it patched at the dealership first, which cost me ~$50! And after a few months, it started deflating again. Finally I decided to consider a more sustainable solution again and pulled into America's Tire on a rainy evening after work. I waited about 10 minutes, and the kind staff person who helped me did not hesitate to march out into the rain to check out my car. He stated that a check up was free so I left the car key. About an hour later he called and I trotted over to pick up my car. He said that they patched the tire--for free! I had heard good things about America's Tire, but I wasn't prepared for $0! I get that this sort of service is a hook for customer loyalty, but there's still something to be said for a company that so trusts in the power of good will. Time will tell if the tire will deflate again but I trust that America's Tire will treat me fairly with any solution they propose. read more

Parked in a full lot 5 minutes before my appointment (that I had made two hours earlier) and got in 5 person line. But had my consultation, approved new tire, and paid in the next 10 minutes. They promised a 45 minute (hour at the most) turn around and I'm settled into the clean and bright air-conditioned waiting room with free bottle of water and WiFi. Great experience here today. Came in with no appointment and they were able to help me. I knew 1 tire needed to be replaced, but my other tire had been going flat and I wasn't sure why. I had taken it to another local tire place, and they told me nothing was wrong with it... despite going flat every 5-7 days. Here, they immediately knew what it was and got me in and out fairly quickly considering it was a busy time of day (3 pm on a Saturday). I will definitely come back in the future. read more

Be prepared to be taken advantage of if you are someone doesn't know a lot about tires or cars. This January, my mother and I brought in her car in for a flat tire replacement. They did what initially seemed like good customer service by waiving the fee for the replacement but followed this by informing us that 2 of our other tires were in serious need of replacement - urging that the car will very soon be unsafe to operate if we kept the tires. My mother and I decided to just change the flat tire and come back another time to replace the other tires. My dad returned from a business trip a month later and returned to the same location to follow-up on the other tires, only to be told that our tires were in fact, still in very good condition. This confirmed that my mother and I were taken advantage of and were recommended unnecessary repairs. Is it coincidence that as women, my mother and I were about to get ripped off? I don't think so. I'm fully aware that women and just generally uninformed people can get overcharged at these sorts of establishments but it still doesn't make it okay. My family has been going to America's Tire Shop for years for service but this experience has made me completely lose my trust in the integrity of this business. If you are planning to get services here - educate yourself on the basics before or bring someone who knows more about the subject matter. read more

I came in at 5:59 not knowing that they closed at 6. Not only did they patch the nail puncture in my tire, they did it free of charge since I bought my tires there. They will do a lot of the work as you wait, but you may need to leave the car overnight in some cases. read more

Went to this place to get pair of DUNLOP tires for my car. The tires were not in stock but took one day to order them. Next day, the installation was also a pleasant experience. The tire mounting, balance and rotation was done in less than 20 minutes. They removed a nail from one of the old tires and that didn't cost me even a penny. Overall, I am satisfied with the service and the price for the tires. Also it's right off El Cammino Real - easy in, easy out. read more

This is my very first bad review I have given on Yelp. First visit - We live in Mountain View and this branch is only couple blocks down the road so we decided to get new tires for our newly-bought used van. We used to go to the one in Stevens Creek when we lived there, by the way, great service, fast, efficient there. We spoke to the guy and said we are interested in getting 4 new tires for the van. We are interested in Michelin tires and asking if there's any rebate going on. I am thinking they may not have the specific one in stock or they think Michelin is not high end enough ($180/ each). They were very hard sell on other tires. Once they found we are not interested, they become very cold and their attitude is not very professional. Second visit (call) - I got a huge nail on the front left tires. Call and talked to Paul to see if I can drop by to get it fixed (we have all the warranty, certificate covered). He seems very impatient and said the next appointment is 3pm (I called at 9:20am). I asked if I could just come because I have doctor appointment and kids after school pick up all line up in the afternoon. He said, "sure, you can but there's couple hours of wait." Thanks for the helpful advice. I called my husband afterward and he checked their website the next available appointment is 12noon. I ended up driving locals to Steven Creeks branch. Great customer service, fast, efficient. They replaced a new tires in 15 min. No wait. For better service, spend extra 15 min to drive to Stevens Creek, Cupertino. I needed four new tires for my '91 Ranger but certainly nothing fancy. I got quotes from Firestone and Wheel Works, both in Mountain View. They both recommended the exact same Primewell PS850 40,000-mile tires. Wheel Works happily brought down their price to match that of Firestone, which was having a June sale. Then I went to America's Tire, and AJ put together a quote for Falken SN828 50,000-mile tires (slightly more costly per-tire than the Primewells), and the grand total was was about $35 more. After sleeping on it, and after some cursory research seemed to indicate that Falken is a better discount brand than Primewell, I decided I'd be willing to pay a little more in order to get the Falkens at America's Tire. When I went back to the shop, I worked with Miguel and showed him the quotes from the other two dealers, pointing out that their overhead costs were less than his. I said I'd buy if he could bring the total price down to the other quotes, and he did it without any hesitation. I opted out of the road hazard warranty, and the total came to a mere $260 (195/70/R14). Miguel estimated a one-hour, forty-five-minute wait since I didn't have an appointment, but I think it actually took less than an hour. Bottom line: it paid off to take the time and get multiple quotes, and America's Tire was willing and happy to do price-matching. The service was friendly and quick. For my needs, I couldn't really ask for more. read more

Customer of over a decade with 3 different vehicles. Hard-working staff, they seem to be treated well. Managers are stern and prioritize customer service. Is your son or daughter into cars? Do they need a tire discount or experience with cars? I'd tell my son to apply here if I had one. You can always see the employees hanging out after work in their souped-up rides. Seems like a good place to work and bond over burning rubber. Free rotations, good selections. Extremely fast service, if you make an appointment, sometimes even if you do a walk-in.... your car will be ready within 1.5 hours. Call in beforehand if you aren't nearby, to gauge the wait time. Enjoy some hot coffee while you wait, peering through the glass window to the workfloor, watching the car dudes do car dude things. read more

I needed 4 tires and someone at work said this is the place to go. The guy on the phone (Max) was professional and found the specific tires in stock and set up an appointment for later the same day (Better than I expected). Before he got off the phone, he said he wanted to make sure those tires were really these just in case the computers inventory was off. That does happen so I appreciate him checking before I drove over. They were actually in stock and I drove over and got 4 new tires in less than 90 minutes. A much better experience than I have had elsewhere. Very professional. Clean. I needed four new tires for my SUV, so I did a little research ahead of time to figure out the kind of tires I wanted. I shopped around online at four different places, and found the prices at America's Tire among the most competitive, and they had the tires in stock no less. So, I set up an appointment for the next morning, and it could not have gone any more smoothly. When I arrived about ten minutes early for my 8:45 appointment, I was still instantly and courteously greeted. I told them I had an 8:45 appointment, and with very little fuss, all the information I had entered the day before was called up and we went out to gather some essentials from the car -- mileage and wheel locks. The wheel locks and car keys were handed over to a tech within short order so that work could begin BEFORE we even went to the kiosk to settle payment -- now that's efficient! With payment complete, I sat myself down in the (relatively clean) waiting area, picked up a magazine, and waited... Around 5 till 9, I was given a final receipt -- I presume this wasn't done earlier in case some additional work is required or complications occur? -- and was told the car would be ready shortly. Sure enough, at 9:01, the car was ready to go. The work was done well, and I was there for less than half an hour! Great job, America's Tire! read more

Popped a tire on my two month old Leaf. Boardwalk Nissan quoted me $175 but I had to get there by 3:30 or they couldn't guarantee that they could replace it that day. I didn't think the tow truck would get me there in time so I Yelp'd an alternative and came up with American Tire. They quoted me $135 installed but since they didn't have the tire in stock they'd order it and put a temporary on so I could get home. These guys are super customer friendly, greeting people as they walk in, working quickly, and just being upbeat and professional the whole time. I came in today for my actual tire and my total cost was only $82! read more

8:12pm I typically don't do reviews, especially bad ones but this is too hard to ignore. I was at Americas Tire in Mountain View earlier today because my Fiat got a nail on one of the rear tires. The guy at the counter tells me OK it'll be free flat repair. 2.5 hours later they tell me my car is ready and they had to replace the tire because the nail went through the sidewall. That's news to me because when I looked the nail was 2-3 inches away from edge. I asked to look at it again and sure enough it looks fixable and not anywhere near the sidewall. But get this, they didn't even tell me I needed a new tire they just went ahead and replaced it with a Yokohama tire. They didn't even bother to check that the other 3 tires are Firestones. Then they tried to tell me that's it's fine, no new tire would match the others since the others are already has a few thousand miles on them. I told them it's a no go and I wanted the same tire. As I've been told numerous times by other employees of America Tire that I should never have mixed tires on the same axle. The Manager on duty gets upset with me and tells me it's going to be a lot more for the Firestone and it will take a couple days to order. I told him that's fine, I still want a Firestone replacement. He then proceeded to the back and comes out with a brand new matching Firestone 10 seconds later! He tells me it $130'ish without even looking it up and asked if I still want it? I do a quick search and Tire Rack shows it for $94. So I asked him to match, he's clearly pissed at me and but says OK. At this point he acting like he's doing me a favor by swapping out the Yokohama with the Firestone. At no point does he apologize for this mess up or the extra time wasted while I waited for the proper tire to be mounted. He was pissed that I had the audacity to questioned him about replacing the tire without my consent and doing it with a wrong tire. I probably should of just had then remount the old tire and went somewhere else but I was already there for several hours and wanted to just get back to work. What a bunch of incompetent clowns. It's the first and last time I'll ever go there for anything. I've been a customer of Discount/America's Tire for over 15 years and had good experiences at different locations all over Colorado and California. But this place is by far some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. read more

I special ordered two tyres, and paid in full, over the phone. No mention was made of their policy on fitting two new tyres. If the other two aren't within 2/32" of the new tyres, they will only fit the new ones on the rear. I wanted the new ones on the front (yes, I know what I'm doing - I need them on the front). I offered to sign a disclaimer, but this was refused. Their only "solution" to fit the new tyres on the front was to try to sell me two more tyres for the rear. The rear tyres have plenty of tread left, so that would be somewhat wasetful, and expensive! They did tell me that although they could only fit them to the rear, I could get them rotated somewhere else! Why spend more time and money to do a job in two parts? Having spent the time to research the tyres I bought, ordered them and spent the time to go there, I wasn't happy that, even offering to sign a disclaimer, they wouldn't fit *my* tyres where I wanted them on *my* vehicle. read more

He was professional and kind, and I only had to wait an hour and a half (the lobby has good wifi!) for my tire to be fixed. We chatted a lot, he was very nice. I've been going to this store for many years and have always gotten good to great service except for last week. We bought two Michelin Defenders from this store and two from the Granada Hills store. In less than 40,000 miles the Defenders which are rated at 80000 miles wore down to 4/32's and got a flat. The assistant manager rather than helping us with the repair and warranty just told us to buy some new tires although he could have repaired the flat then worked with Michelin to get us the pro rated warranty refund on a new pair. He did none of that and just rushed us out the door while he helped another customer. We went over to Cost Co and got a new pair of Michelins from them the same day. The Michelin Defenders don't last nearly as long as the warranty says. Figure on 40000-50000 miles max from this tire. read more

They checked my tire size to see if they were in stock and they said they would wait for me to come in. I came in and 30 minutes later I had new tires on my car. I've read lot's of other reviews of this company. It seems to me that the folks who give it less than 4 stars are usually frustrated with things they could fixed themselves, like allowing themselves to be sold tires they don't believe, or the reality of tire treads and the "legal" amount of tread they can handle in their shop. They have to protect themselves from lawsuits which prohibits them from rotating tires or servicing tires that have gone beyond safe tread usage. All of that is true and these are responses you'll get from most major shops. Do your homework before you go. Know exactly what you want so there doesn't have to be any discussion of anything other than what you want. My experience was that I came in knowing I needed 4 new tires, but one was flat and off the car. I had the spare on. I wanted to just have that one tires replaced but they talked me into two tires which really made good sense. My car is AWD and they were concerned that the stress might affect the UJ - a bit overkill but still a valid concern. I waited an hour for my tires when my service consultant called to say that the manager on duty didn't approve replacing only two tires because of the worn tread pattern on all four. This infuriated me because my salesman warned me that all four needed to be replaced but told me that he could in fact replace just the two tires and I could come back and replace the others when it was financially convenient to me. I waited a bit longer then walked back over, very upset. When I arrived my car was brought up. I had asked them to just put the new tire on the rim and put it back in the trunk and I'd place it on the car when I got home. Instead, they replaced all 4 tires, giving me two new tires for the rear for free. The manager apologized for going back on the salesman's word and his solution was to just give me the other two tires free of charge. I tried to pay for the tires and they wouldn't accept any money. They apologized profusely for their communication gap and sent me on my way. What impressed me was the quickness for which they fixed the miscommunication. They didn't spend any time standing around discussing it or trying to show off to me. They put 4 new tires on my car when I only paid for two and brought the car out without any fanfare. Both the salesman and the manager came over to explain how sorry they were and that was it. They stood behind their word and exceeded their promise. I think that's worth continued business. Sure they'll always try to upsell. But I don't think they've ever tried to sell me unnecessary product.. But I can appreciate that they are running a business. And it's a good business. read more

Kudos to the people and business open ! Some Good news ! Local Businesses and people are much more sensible in general than Politicians, Government and officials . Good news .... I went to two businesses that were open today, American Tire and Trader Joes. American Tire was very well organised, they had a clear notice outside the door saying to "call them, let them know you have arrived , don't go in the store. They then came out, masks on and practicing social distancing . There were dots on the floor of where to stand at the check out . They did not go in my vehicle just had me drive it to where they wanted. The waiting room chairs were all out on the patio in front of the store , at least 6 ft apart. So simple as it is they were making a good effort to social distance, face masks , using outside space, marking the floor with distance stickers and clearly saying at the door what they wanted the customers to do ...... great job American Tire..... O.k on to Trader Joes.... sanitized trolleys waiting inside the store, most staff wearing masks , people being polite and avoiding one another in the store ..... stickers on the floor at check out showing where they wanted to to stand , in fact well away from the checkout until everything was bagged , in the cart and ready for payment , before getting closer to the check out .... store was not crowded ( something that would need control ). O.K. this is the new normal .... but with intelligence and thought and good communication of ideas and needs to combat COVID, businesses may to not have to commit financial " hari kari" by staying closed and could open in the above limited ways ...... of course that would require direct leadership ..... so politicians "time to take your thumb out of your ass " and stand up and lead ! :-) read more

Usually I am very happy with American's Tire. But today I got the worst service ever from this Store Manager, David. Thing happened last week, a technician cracked my wheel when removing my tire so I got referral to a wheel shop and the promise that American's Tire would be responsible for the charge. I was impressed about their service but story wasn't ended here. After the inspecting by wheel shop, I was sent back to American's Tire to leave the tire there, the wheel shop will come pick it up to fix later. I went back to American's Tire and spoke to several staff but they didn't know how to deal my case so they called Store Manager. Here were what the Store Manager did to me: 1) complained to me why I went back to them for this issue; 2) told me to drive back to wheel shop again to drop off wheel; 3) asked me to pay for all the charges; 4) after I pointed it out it's their fault to crack the wheel, he denied it; 5) when I told him which technician showed the crack to me, he went to talk to that person and never came back; 6) eventually when a staff was helping me, he came over and totally ignored me. Then he told to that staff in front of me that he didn't need to do so. For the whole situation, I didn't hear an apology from the Store Manager at all. Not to say I had to spend extra time travel back and forth between those shops. Everyone else in the shop apologized to me for this Store Manager. This is the most weird case I have ever been. If this guy is the owner of this shop, I will never go back. One star is too much for him. American's Tire should consider to suspend the license to this shop. read more

Recently, I just bought a new set of 4 tires for my MDX, and one of the service guys recommend the Michelin Latitude - $194/each, I said the price is quite high, the total was about 1,050. He then recommended the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S - $148/each, total is about $820. He said those are quality tires, every thing below $800 the quality is not that good. And those cheap ones are for trucks rather SUVs. I ended up with the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S. After 3 weeks of having the new tires, I noticed that I consistently loose at least 40miles/tank some times 60miles/tank, the MDX has 20MPG/freeway and 16MPG/local. If I have to fill my tank every week with the current gas price, $2.25/gallon for premium, I loose at least $4.5/tank and 4.5x52(weeks)= $234/year. Let say these tires will last 5 years, I ended up paying $1,170, which is the price of 4 Michelin tires or more. I was not happy with his recommendation at all. I came back and asked for a new set of tires with better rolling resistance. They again recommended the Michelin Latitude. I really wanted the Kumho but they talked me out of it, not only that, they said if I buy the Kumho, they will have to charge me the installation for the Yokohama set, and if I buy the Michelin they don't mention that fees ???humm ! why with a more expensive tires they don't charge installation fees ? I then asked if they have matching price policy with Costco, they said yes, they immediately launched Costco website and saw $70 discount for any set of Michelin. He asked me to wait and went out to talk with his buddy. When he came back his offer was this, if they give me $70 discount as Costco they will charge extra $11/tire for installation as Costco charges their customer...WHAT THE F&*&^^..I said OK, give me the Kumho than, he quickly changed, "OK ! forget what the other guy said, I don't charge you that fee" WHAT THE F*&^%$$. We argued back and fort a little bit. I really wanted to go with the Kumho but since I'm not sure how good those are...I better go with something I know the Michelin. They did give me the discount to match with Costco at the end but only after a few games. Before that I just stopped by for my flat tire, and I ended up buying another brand new set of tire for my other car, which was around $1,000. This shop is trying to rip me off every single time. Their best interest is to sell the most expensive tires and get the most from my wallet. There is no reason for me to go back to this shop. There are many better shops that I could find from YELP or I could even try the tirerack. read more
